Power up an android - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to schedule a power up on an android that is completely powered off, like you can do with a pc in its bios?
Thanks

I once asked this about a computer and got the reply
"You mean a program that will reach out and press the power button for you? No."
I know it is possible in the bios of some computers. I had a very old cell phone which would power itself on if you had an alarm set. Though I have not seen that function in many years.

Lol you have to love it when you get a reply from a sarcastic person who is clueless.
I will try the alarm thing, and maybe an alarm app or 2

The device can not be completely powered off otherwise how would it kniw when to turn on? in computers this is done with the bois battery and then normaly a lan connection to get the message to start.
So the simple answer is no. You can on some decives put it into a deep sleep but it cant be turned back on if you want it completely off without some physical action

I de-rooted yesterday (Froyo!) for the first time and out of principle want to see how long I can go. One of the only thing that I missed at the moment was screen captures that I need for the small amount of apps I have developed or plan on developing.
I wasn't aware of this ability in the SDK. That makes sense now.
I accidentally did a screen capture today...the phone was on the car charger and I was trying to turn the screen off, I pushed the power button and heard the shutter sound. May be a glitch of somekind
Btw, I am not rooted

Can you elaborate? I thought the fate of his phone was sealed. Good to know some app is there for that too. What does it do exactly and where to find one for our phone?

My Phone is off. I need software or something else to start it and not to Control thx
charge your phone. I know that for roms like miks cm7, the phone will start up by itself. other than that, I think you have no option but to send in your phone to lg

Annoying kernel problem!

Froyo kernels are really weird.
All of the ones I've tried have done this: I press and hold home button and it just registers it as if I pressed it and let it go. I keep doing it until it finally registers me long pressing.
Is there a way to fix?
You sure it's the kernel's fault???
Sent from a cell tower to the XDA server to you.
Doesn't do the same in Gingerbread

[Q] How to take a screenshot

Hi,
I was used to use the Resurrection remix ROM or AOKP based ROM, and the screenshot of the phone was easily made by pressing the power button which open the "reboot, shutdown..." menu and there was a screenshot option.
But now I'm using the Omega ROM, based on the samsung official ROM, and I can't find how to make a screenshot.
Can someone tell me how ?

It's a bit funny, you have to press and hold them both at exactly the same time. If you press home or power first it'll just register thst keypress.

You're right.
That's the first time that I read someone who deigns to make that point.:good:
This is useful since usually the key combinations do not require such synchronization.

[Q] S3 Power Button

Hey guys,
a week ago i've noticed that my power button is a bit too sensitive, now i'm just touching it like the homescreen and the display turns off. Sometimes it stays pushed and reboot for several times, can somebody help me? Please don't give the answer: "Send it to Samsung" or something else, i haven't got guarantee anymore, so i want to fix it myself.:good:
Then you need to dismantle the phone see the SGS3 tear-down via Google .

To dismantle the phone and fix the power button? Obviously it is some kind of hardware challenge and not software, hence open up the phone is needed I guess.
