Quad core galaxy s3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, how can I know for sure if my galaxy s3 has 4 cores like it should?
I bought the International version (GT-I9300) and I know it is the quad core version with 1ghz of ram and Mali 400 gpu but is there any app or any way to know it for sure?
I tried antutu benchmark and it tells me two different things (see the screen shots)
Under device info it says quad core:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And under system info it says two cores (few minutes ago it said triple-core )
and with quadrant standard it says 4 cores
but maybe you guys know another most trusted app that can show me this info....
Thanks in advance for the help!

If its the international version (gt-i9300) then it definitely has 4 cores.
the reason you get different things showing in antutu is because when there is no load on the CPU, the CPU governor, pegasusq, shuts down cores as it sees fit.
So bottom line is don't worry, it has 4 cores.

Ohhh ok, thanks a lot for your answer!! :thumbup:
So, I can relax and be sure that I have the 4 cores galaxy s3 then...
Here is a screenshot of my phone just in case.. It says GT-I9300 so I guess everything is fine...
Thanks a lot for the help!

Cores on Quadrant?

I have a Korean SGSII, and I looked up the system information by Quadrant and it says 'cores: 1'.
ARM V7I
Isn't it supposed to show 2?

You mean quadrant standard information? Yeah, mine is two..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Huh...it says ARM V7 Processor rev 1(V7I)...with only one core.

One here as well, it doesn't really matter though as it still uses both. Probably just setcpu detecting the information incorrectly.
Try using quadrant standard.. I only get 1 core in quadrant advanced and 2 cores in quadrant standard..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
At the.time you check it only uses 1cpu.
Your governor is probably set to: ondemand.
So if you do a lot of things fast, and it neeeds another cpu to keep up with you, that's when the second cpu kicks in.
When you can simulate that and open app fast, you will see it detects two cpu's. I had same issue intil I started switching between tabs really fast and checked back; two instead of one.
Try it.

Standard got ads. Advanced doesn't.
This is also why you see 1 in advanced, and 2 in standard. For the standard version it needs more cpu-power to do everything the app asks for; permissions, ads etc. advanced doesnt have this so thats why you see one. (less actions, less cpu-power needed.)

Quadrant doesn't truly support 2 cores, therefore it sometimes shows 1, other times 2.

I disabled the add in quadrant standard so i think it's not the culprit..

What application did you used in performing such test? You can overclock the gpu and cpu for better results. And also..turn off the power saving mode before benchmarking because it affects the result.
Benchmarks have nothing to do with real-world usage, in fact many optimizations for real-world usage will cause Quadrant to massively drop.
It there anything performance-wise you are unhappy with and if so: whah.
I'd strongly recommend retaining from overclocking unless you know exactly why you need it and what you are doing (something 99% of people don't seem to get)
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
No i dont need any overclocking.. i used Antutu.. getting just 50% marks in a test.. that was bothering me.. otherwise performance wise theres absolutely no problem..
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
are you sure power-saving is off?

Does the phone work?
do those results change the way you use the phone?
Does getting a lower score mean you cant do what you want to do?
Naah the phones perfect.. but i am rooyed so why not try gettin good benchmarks also.. no problem otherwise.. thanks everyone..

You should do the benchmark test when your phone is cool.
I've noticed that I get about 12K when it's cool, and about 8K-9K when it's after some use.

Number 3 is the 4th core. Cores go by 0,1,2 and 3. The details in the app are for the 4th core.

It's an ARMv7 -- which just happens to be an A9.

GPU rendering makes laggy?

Is just me or what?
After I enable GPU rendering, feels everything become little laggy than it is disabled?

GPU rendering isn't effective for MOST apps. Also take into account, that the MALI 400MP is a very weak GPU. Also, don't mess about in developer option's if you don't know what they do eh?
No you have it disabled. And for the the other dude saying that the MALI 400 is a weak GPU. You are retarded. It has one point (triangles) where it fails compared to newer GPUs. But it is still one of the top GPUs around.

it's WEAK for 2013 i never meant it that way, last year it was a good GPU, 2011 was when the s2 was announced and it carried a mali 400mp. That was clocked at about 200mhz or so, all Samsung did was just overclock it to 440mhz. THAT is the ONLY reason that it kept up with some other GPU's on the market.

It still isn't weak.
I guess Nvdia's (Tegra chipset) GPU is better as they have been working on PC GPU for many years?

Trade s2 against s3 mini

Hi
I have an SGS2 and a guy asked me for trading against his SGS3 mini.
What do you think guys?
Good or bad trade?

Check S III mini specs.
Done?
Are you mental????
SII is like 5 times a better phone than S III mini.
Now Galaxy premium.....that's something else, right in between S II and S III.
