Can't download or update apps from Play Store - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I hope I'm not repeating an already posted thread but I couldn't really find any others specific to my problem AND on the Galaxy S2.
If there's already a thread about this problem feel free to abuse me for starting another one.
Basically, I've got a Samung Galaxy S2 (duh) and after trying to Root it using Superclick and Odin, I realised that I had no idea what I was doing and tried to return it to normal.
Long story short, it's currently unrooted (I think), has a Custom Binary Count of 2 (which I would like to reset), but more importantly I can't download any apps from the Market/Play Store. I don't get any errors but the apps just don't download or update.
I've done a Factory Reset (which clearly isn't technically a 'Factory Reset' because it doesn't return to normal!), and also have Superuser and CWM installed on the phone, which I would also like to get rid of.
Really I just want my phone to return to the way it was before I decided that I was smarter than I actually am.
Help? I really don't have any idea what I'm doing and really starting to regret trying to do this in the first place.

Guide to restore galaxy warranty s3
The first step will be to reset the counters Custom Binary and System Status using Triangle Away (to use it are necessary root permissions).
CAUTION: do not abuse this tools by acting on the bootloader on your phone. For today, however, were not detected negative experiences.
1_ Download from Triangle phone Away.
On the forum of Xda and present the AKP in free versionhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114 .. Install it by clicking on them.
If appropriate, you can contribute to the project by purchasing the version donated directly from Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwxLDEsImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS50cmlhbmdsZWF3YXkiXQ..
2 _Start the app and remember to grant the rights of root ( 'Sa popup).
Confirm the download of the additional data (6 MB).

3_ Start Triangle Away and if the device has been properly recognized, confirm it by clicking on Continue.
4_ Now, click on the Reset button Flash counter.
5_The device will reboot in a particular mode
To cancel the operation, press the Volume button down'. To proceed to reset the counters instead, press the Volume Up key. CAUTION: avoid shut down or restart the phone in any other way. .
After clearing the counter, reverting by Odin the firmware Samsung original, thus eliminating any traces of rom cooked, kernel or recovery.
_From the special section of our site, and download the original firmware Samsung that you intend to install http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/. And it is stored in a file .rar, you must then unzip the file (only once) before you use it.
_If you haven't yet, download also the tool Odin https://androidfirmwares.net/Tools/Download/8 (Just extract the Odin folder.)
You will also need to install the Samsung USB drivers for the device if you haven't installed KIES. Get them from here: https://androidfirmwares.net/Tools/Download/9
Just install like any Windows program
PDA refers to the build version of the software/firmware
Phone refers to the baseband/modem version
CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either.
.PIT refers to the partition information table you only need it if you screw up your partition table or if the firmware specifically requires it because of a change in the partition table layout. It's very likely you may never have to use this.
If the package only contains one .tar archive then it will have everything, pda+phone+csc, in the one file.
If it has multiple .tar archive then:
The .tar with modem in the name is the phone/baseband bit of the package
.tar with csc/multi-csc in the name is the csc bit of the package
.tar with code/PDA in the name is the PDA part of the firmware package
If this is the case you will need to put these .tar archives in the specific areas of Odin to flash the update. Refer to the images below.
Flashing Firmware with Odin
1. Just download the firmware version you want from the second or third posts and extract the .tar or .tar.md5 file in the archive and save it somewhere
2. Reboot your phone to download mode.
To get download mode shut down the device. After it shuts off completely simultaneously press the Down volume key+ Home button + press the power button .
You should see a warning asking you to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, press volume up. You are now in download mode!
3. Start Odin
4. If your ROM is a single .tar.md5 package click on the PDA button and browse to the .tar or .tar.md5 file that you extracted in step 1 and select it. This should like like the image below
If the package has more than one .tar archive then they will be labelled with PDA/Code, Phone/Modem and CSC. Just put them in the corresponding section of Odin like below
5. DO NOT PUT .PIT FILE AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TICK REPARTITION.
Regardless of firmware version it's still the same methodology
6. Connect the USB cable and wait for any required drivers to install and the ID:COM section to turn blue like below
7. Click start to flash. If Odin hangs at setting up connection just unplug the USB cable and re-attach it, Odin should now resume
8. Do not disconnect the cable or turn off the device once the flash has started, it will reboot when it finishes.
If the firmware is from this thread it will not wipe your phone if you flash as recommended UNLESS I state that the firmware is a "WIPE" version.

Download terminal emulator ,https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDMsImphY2twYWwuYW5kcm9pZHRlcm0iXQ.. Then typing su , near icon$, should appear ($su) #, have permission of full root , after using Triangle Away to clear the binary counters..i used and i have not had any problems , then flash rom stock samsung..

Just tried that and it says I don't have permission?
Am I right in thinking that Superclick thinks my phone is rooted but my phone doesn't think it is? Is my phone stuck in limbo?
I just wanna be able to download apps without any hassle. Even if I can't get my binary count back to zero.

If you want to restore the firmware Samsung original, thus eliminating any traces of rom cooked, kernel or recovery , follow the guide flash with odin ...

Galaxy Player 5.0 Bootloader *ONLY* Hard Brick Recovery

Introduction
Hey guys.. I came up with a partial recovery method for black screen bricks. It's not a full recovery yet as the device won't get past booting the kernel. However, this is a matter of obtaining the proper firmware... So, until a better firmware is obtained the next best thing is to at least get the device into Download Mode.
Generally Hard bricks occur when the improper firmware is flashed on a device. When the wrong bootloaders are loaded, the device attempts to boot and fails. Instead of hanging, sometimes the device will enter a "Lucky Brick" state. These lucky bricks are very common on Galaxy Player.
The Galaxy Player tends to failover into a safe mode which we call UnBrickable Mod. This safe mode can only effectively be used in Linux because of a lack of decent windows drivers and a lack of any real development for Mac outside of Apple Corp .
Heimdall has not yet been upgraded to handle the Galaxy Player so a virtual machine is required for this procedure.
You Will Need:
Linux installed on a computer: http://ubuntu.com/download
The UnBrickable Resurrector Revision36 or higher installed in Linux
Oracle Virtualbox installed on linux: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads
Your OWN copy of Windows installed in Virtualbox
Samsung drivers installed on Virtual Windows Machine
The GalaxyPlayer-Bootloader.zip downloaded into Windows
Instructions
First plug your Galaxy Player into the computer.
Launch the UnBrickable Resurector R36 and observe the following image. If the device does not detect, hold the power and home button for 10 seconds to make the device reboot.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Note: if you cannot get this screen, stop. You will not be able to continue. You've given it a shot and there are no other known methods which will currently work
Select S5PC111 from the Device Type Dropdown List. Then click the "Download Mode" Button. Your device should be detected as the picture in the following displays. If your device is not detected, try again and ensure you have the proper Resurrector selected
Unzip the GalaxyPlayer-Bootloaders.zip to the Desktop folder in your Windows VM
Launch Odin3 in the Windows VM
Set the PIT option as "GalaxyPlayerPart.pit" Set the "Bootloader" option to GalaxyPLayerDownloadModeOnly.tar
In the menu bar on your Windows VM, in Linux, select Devices>USB Devices>SAMSUNG Gadget Serial to attach the device to Windows.
Note: you should see the device connected and a "COM" assigned in Odin after the device has installed properly
Click "Start" on Odin3. Note: If this fails, you will need to reinstall Samsung Drivers.
This is where this guide ends. I have tried several firmwares but none have been effective at recovering the Galaxy Player...
Conclusion
Your device is now in Download Mode.. If anyone can help in locating a /data/ partition(Not dbdata), I could sterilizeit of your information and it would be helpful. If anyone can post up an EFS partition, I could remove the information from that and force it into a default...
Basically, I need a full dd dump of every single partition on the device in order to finish this resurrection DIY.
Hi AdamOutler:
You can find that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19840746&postcount=420

and how do you upload that through download mode?
That's my question, lol.
On wednesday I can upload the dd dumps of every partition so they can be flashable via odin.
I've 'dd'ed that image to a sdcard. Checked partition table and it seems ok. So the only think needed is to dump the right partitions. Right now, I'm busy with exams, so I can't before.

The problem is that we need a partition information table which is proper for each device. I started that thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389873

Ok so I have an issue that is between the hard brick and the lucky brick I think.
My Galaxy is stuck in Android Stock Recovery (My soft keys are not working) and I have attempted to get the Resurrector to work on my device, but it seems like it won't see my player correctly for me to bring it back.
If you know any kind of fix for this I would really appreciate it, my Wife is ready to kill me...
Adam, I have Ubuntu and the virtual machine setup and working. I just cannot get Ubuntu to allow me to open the resurector file as an executable, any idea why and how I can fix that issue, it tries to open it as a archived compressed file. I have the black screen and badly need to revive my Player.
Update: After searching on google I finally got Ubuntu to execute the resurrector file and I revived my player and have Froyo 2.2.2 running on it now, but the capacitive buttons do not work. I will dowload the soft button app to fix the buttons till someone finds a solution for the dead buttons which was caused on my player by the Korean 2.3.6 firmware leak that I flashed yesterday and caused all my problems. After searching some more I found the files I needed to get my capacitive buttons working again on the samfirmware.com web site, so now I have restored my player to the original working state.
Adam, you are a life saver, Thank You very much for the excellent recovery guide!!!!

I'm still unable to fully unbrick my device (YPGB70) even with all the proper files, it still just hangs at the logo, I can get into download mode just fine though. The only files missing from Samsungs official rom they released are efs.rfs, userfs_16G.rfs, inand_16G.bin these are the only file listed on the pit but aren't in the rom file. Are the userfs and inand crucial file and if so can I use files from the international or US models and do they have to be the same 16G size?

What I did once I got it to the download mode using Adam's guide, then I downloaded the 2.2.2 froyo rom for the player found at www.samfirmware.com and flashed it using odin that got the player working but the capacitive key would still not work, so then I put the player back into download mode and downloaded and flashed the rom from Maticulus found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450013 using odin again and this got the player working like new again including the capacitive keys.
Good Luck!!!
My YP-G70 still freeze on Odin on Set Partition Any idea ? (international 16GB version) Download mode works, but lock on Odin ...

[Tutorial] Flashing KDZ on LG L5 II (E455/E460) and other LG phones

This tutorial is for the LG L5 II (E455/E460) and shall work on other LG phones too.
Many thanks to @iulykenoby who discovered this method.
To start, download a KDZ firmware for your LG E460 (and other phones) from here: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php
Be sure to match the phone with the right kdz!!!
1. Download LG_KDZ_FW-Update_OfflineFix.ZIP (attached)
2. Download USB Driver http://algmcdn.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=UW00120120425
If you can't boot anymore, enter into download/emergency mode and skip to step 5.
3. Put your phone in debugging mode (menu-Settings-Developer options-USB debugging).
4. Change your usb connection type to LG Software (menu-Settings-USB connection type)
5. Connect your phone to the PC and install USB Driver. After the installation disconnect and connect your phone again (to make sure it is detected).
6. Extract LG_KDZ_FW-Update_OfflineFix.ZIP
7. Run B2CAppSetup.exe and let it install and update itself. You may be prompted to update your drivers.
8. If you've done everything correctly, you should see this:
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
9. Close the official LG Mobile Support Tool.
10. Open Notepad in Administrator mode. (Go to windows menu, type notepad and right-click and run in Administrator mode)
11. Open the hosts file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc)
12. Add 127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com at the end of the host file.
13. Save the file. If the "Save as" dialog opens, it means you're not running notepad in administrator mode and you can't modify the hosts file.
14. Go to windows menu, type cmd and right-click and run in Administrator mode.
15. Drag Automatic Offline Procedure.vbs over command prompt and hit enter.
16. Click OK
17. Click on windows enable icon in system tray to turn ON then click the dialog box OK.
18. Click Ok.
19. Make sure Type is set to 3GQCT and phone mode to DIAG. Select your KDZ file and click Normal web upgrade test.
20. Click on Upgrade Start.
21. Click on Clear phone Software update Registry and then click OK.
22. Software Update Procedure will start immediately. It will take some time to finish.
After the flashing procedure, don't forget to delete that line you added in hosts or else you won't be able to officialy update (online) your phone and you won't be able to download anything from lg. Also, a factory reset may be needed after flashing to avoid conflicts with the old app data.
Ohhhhhh thx mircea, work for me. The problem was on step 19, now it's all ok.

Try booting again in upload mode. If I remember right it's: phone off and both volume keys pressed then introduce the usb cable. if you manage to boot in download mode, you can try to flash again. you surely didn't select the right kdz for your phone. be sure of your phone model and search for the right kdz for your phone. If you can boot in download mode nothing is lost, you can fix it.

For root, the attached file should work (change it's extension from .zip to .exe). Instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2337802

you can flash any firmware from any country as long as it is for your phone model. i recommend you flash a firmware that's not branded (for ex branded by orange) so you won't have extra software that will slow down your phone. on that website you will find firmwares for many phones. our phone (e460) received an update, that's why they are called "a" "b" "c".

Mircea,
I dont use or trust online scanners I prefer to use IDA and other tools to examine software. If you examine the software more closely you will find that it sends your PC information back to the author. It will also do an update check and install of the latest version automatically. It will also install an apk for a chinese file sharing site and multiple other files that he leaves in the phones system. I also rooted a test phone and it did root perfectly. I was not trying to scare people just give a little warning to be cautious when you install a program that has a primary interface language is not yours. I had no ill intentions just trying to make people aware of what I had found.

Yes, it installs a chineese apk because that's the root application (just like superuser). After installing supersu and deleting the chineese apk I scanned my phone with bitdefender and avg and found no malware.
You also can disable your internet before installing vroot on your computer, root your phone then uninstall it. Then you can scan your computer with any antivrus and antispyware software you want and you won't find a trace of Vroot. Before saying it's full of malware, you should prove it. I just proved with 43 antiviruses that it has no malware and all you're saying is you don't trust them. I also offered a solution to avoid sending information about your computer, IF that was the case. Also, using a sandbox just like you said is also ok.

EDIT: It's android 6, so you can't root the phone without a custom recovery.
WELP. So I just spent the past 2 days wasting my time on this god awful phone. I can't even access fastboot on this piece of crap, it comes up for 2 seconds and then disappears and no amount of "properly" installing usb drivers for it has helped. I even tried disabling driver signing and installing the drivers through adding legacy hardware. Nothing worked at all. So I thought I'd just install a custom recovery with sp flash tool. So I downloaded a stock rom for the vfd300 (my phone) from here: https://androidmtk.com/download-vodafone-stock-rom-models and ported TWRP using an ASUS Zenfone GO's TWRP.img.
Custom Recovery works fine, the phone does not. It is now stuck in a bootloop. Tried formatting everything (from TWRP) doesn't work. Tried flashing the rom again (even with the stock recovery) still stuck at bootloop, tried about 3 other vfd300 stock roms that people have uploaded to http://forum.gsmhosting.com and none of them have worked either. Currently downloading yet ANOTHER one and tbh I don't have high hopes. (EDIT: It didn't work)
Any help at this point would be appreciated.
Holy crispy crap it started............................. So I managed to find a working rom from (what appeared to be) some Vietnamese file hosting website .
You follow the instructions below at your own risk. No one is responsible for any damage done to your device but you.
I officially have root working on this device.
Now that I've done it, it's a surprisingly simple procedure. As I stated in the edit in my reply above, the VFD300 has Android 6 on it, which requires (afaik) a systemless root to be installed from recovery.
I ported the custom recovery from this thread (since the Z00VD has the same chip as the VFD) which you can download here.
Download the latest version of Chainfires beta SuperSU installer from this thread and transfer it to either your phones internal storage or SD card.
Also download a copy of SP Flash tool (if your fastboot works, use that instead). Finally, you will need this scatter file.
Unplug your phone from the computer and shut it down. Open SP Flash tool and click the download tab at the top.

Click "choose" next to the Scatter-loading file box and select the path to the scatter file you downloaded. IMPORTANT Make sure all boxes below except recovery are unchecked and select Download Only in the drop-down box. Double click on recovery in the Location column and point it to the custom recovery image you downloaded.
Click the Download button at the top and then plug your phone back in. The bottom bar will turn red, then purple, then yellow and once it is fully done flashing you will get a pop-up box with a green tick as confirmation.
Unplug your phone and reboot into recovery (Power+Vol-Up). In the custom recovery, select install, go to the directory you transferred Chainfires beta SuperSU.zip to, install it and reboot. TWRP will ask you if you want it to install root, DO NOT LET IT INSTALL ROOT. Your phone may loop a few times and can take up to 10 minutes to boot the first time, but it will be successfully rooted.
If you need a copy of the stock rom, download this one. If you want to flash this rom, make sure you use the scatter file in the roms archive and select firmware upgrade from the Download Only box on SP Flash Tool.
EDIT: I'm so sorry I borked the hyperlink order. Instead of linking to the scatter file I linked to the entire rom and vice versa with the stock rom link

I've done all steps correctly, with each of them followed thoroughly but then I get to the point where my device isn't identified when I connect it to the computer. None of those colored 'bottom bars' pop up nor the green tick as confirmation concept. PLEASE HELP ME !
[UPDATE] When I disconnect my device, some BROM error comes up but idek what it means.

Did you make sure to power off your phone and unplug the USB, then press download and reconnect your phones usb? Don't turn the phone back on, just replug it in after you hit the download button.

Sounds like a boot loop. You need to download the stock rom (it should be about 700mb or so and in rar format). Once you've downloaded the stock rom, extract the archive to a folder somewhere (you will need something like 7zip or Winrar). Open SP Flash tool, load the scatter file from the extracted folder and make sure you select every box. There should be a check mark in each box. Change SP Flash tools dropdown box to firmware upgrade (by default it is on Download Only) and then flash it similar to how you did with the recovery (make sure you change the recovery to the custom one from above).
If my instructions aren't clear enough, I can do it again to my phone and take pictures of the entire process to make it easier to follow.

Yeah man! I've done that as well but had no luck .
1. I've enabled USB Debugging Mode and I've shut my phone down (NOTE: It has not been connected to the computer)
2. I opened the SP Flash tool and I clicked the download tab at the top
3. I then choose next to the scatter-file thing and have relocated it to the scatter file that I've downloaded from your link
4. ALL boxes are unchecked except recovery with download-only in the drop-down box
5. I've done the recovery image and everything and then...
6. I plug my phone in (Yes, it's completely shut down from step 1) with the USB cable and nothing shows up (Colored bars, tick etc.)
7. When I unplug it, an error comes up and then I'm completely stuck with no idea of what to do next
[UPDATE] - Does my phone have to be on the latest version?
Same problem
I'm having the same issue. I follow the instructions, phone off, press download, etc. I dont get any bars changing colours.
Did you manage to sort it out yet?
[update] managed to work it out. the MT65xx drivers werent installed properly. Use the instructions here (I cant post links!!! google: sp-flash-tool-mediatek-mt65xx-drivers-download-and-installation-guide-including-bricked-devices) to get them working first, make sure the battery is out of your phone and the main instructions in this thread work first time.

I can go in recovery, but cannot boot the system.
I also did a memory test, got tow error
ERROR: NAND Flash was not detected!

I tried many times, and format whole flash and download all of them again.

Bro I got the EXACT same issue now because I accidentally installed Supersu through TWRP (which is pretty stupid because it was mentioned to AVOID the Supersu prompt when exiting TWRP). I've been stuck on bootloop for a couple of days now .

Bro, I accidentally installed Supersu when the prompt came up as I tried to exit TWRP. I know you said to NOT let it install, which was pretty stupid that I didn't read carefully what you wrote. Now I'm stuck in bootloop -_-.
Please help bro; I've tried flashing it to the stock rom, removing dalvik cache and everything etc. Nothing's working. Please help!

I was stuck in bootloop, but we don't share the same reason. I think there is something wrong with the rom above.
I found another rom, flash it, and problem solved, pretty simple. Now, I have a rooted vfd 300, even better than the stock rom, but you need to delete some app you don't like before you enjoy it.
you can find this rom by searching MT6580_S00_EMMC_MRA58K__6.0_VFD-300_Vodafone.zip

Vodafon VFD300 Firmware + TWRP + ROOT
As recommended above, Vodafon vfd 300 as a result of the phone turned on until the endless download -TWRP was not requested, sr1-SuperSU-v2.82 - sr120170608224931 and flash driver SP Flash Tool 3.1352.01 (5.1352.01) did not fit. I decided to solve the problem - the vfd 300 flashed through the firmware MT6580_S00_EMMC_MRA58K__6.0_VFD 300_Vodafone_356774071726533_08_19_2016_09_02_53 (1) (2), the flash driver SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1648_vin - the next way (remove the battery, hold the volume (-) until the end of the firmware, Download, connect the cable to the phone (the firmware will go to Emergency port about 8 minutes)
****************Next, we flash the TWRP - the flash driver SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1648_ the scatter and the TWRP are recommended - (MT6580_Android_scatter.Tht and
*Recovery-TWRP-VFD300.img) flashing.
**********We check TWRP (we clamp simultaneously ON-volume (+) release ON-opens TWRP.
**********Get Root rights ---- copy SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3-20170114223742.zip to the phone folder, turn off the phone, go to TWRP find Install - SuperSu - Swaipe to instal - Dj not Install. All made happy, good luck. There will be questions [email protected]

you need to make sure you click download on flash tool then plug the usb in to phone and pc (also remember the battery has to be out of the phone for it to flash)
then you should see the red, yellow, green colours.
Hi all. I will be attempting to root my Vodafone VFD-300 tomorrow, after reading through the entire thread there seems to have been many issues with getting it done successfully. I also saw that it was suggested to provide step by step screenshots of the entire process. If anyone who managed to do the whole rooting with no problems could please do so again and provide us with the step by step screenshots,it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Same is true with this one. Go to the website that I mentioned under firmware search j730x (change x depending on the letter of your original/stock rom) just enter it choose your country sometimes it comes also with the specific carrier for the phone then download the rom. As I have said don't rely on the uploaded rom here cause it might it to certain issues about your network. BTW you need an account before downloading those firmware but its worth it.
Where can i check which is the correct firmware for my phone. Baltic or nordic countries? I'm from finland.
What's the logic behind posting official firmware links on xda? All of them are on websites like sammobile, along with proper instructions.
Anyone have a clear cut way to restore a hacked account? I've flashed 7.1.1 stock via ODIN however I'm still getting the FDR account issue. All my searches have not turned up a clear cut way to reset the FDR from google. I've tried flashing FDR files, to no avail. I've also ordered a OTG USB so I can try the "samsung bypass google verify.apk" method, but that won't arrive until Monday sometime. I thought by flashing the bootloader would do it, but not finding a reliable download source. I'm even looking to downgrade to 6.x.x but that too seems to require the correct bootloader files which again I'm not finding. Any other ideas, maybe a solid walk though? Thanks in advance.
Thanks it worked, saved my ass.

[GUIDE] Root Samsung Galaxy A3 Super Easy with Magisk!

Hello guys!
Recently I have rooted my Samsung Galaxy A3 phone with Magisk! And now I am gonna show you how you can do it too!
WARNING: IF YOU FOLLOW THIS GUIDE, YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST, PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR PHONE!
IF YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE DATA, BACKUP OR FOLLOW ANOTHER METHOD.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR PHONE, DO NOT SUE ME.
Step 0. Preparations
Before beginning, follow this tutorial video on your phone, or else it won't work!
Edit: The video's thumbnail appears like the video has been removed or something, do not worry, you can still watch it, it's just a glitch!Step 1. Downloading the firmware
1a. Register to SamMobile (Yes, you have to if you want to download firmware)1b. Find your firmware here. (If you can't find it, pls tell me)1c. Download your firmware1d. Exctract the zip file that you downloaded into a folder somewere on your drive1e. Open the folder, the file we are gonna be working with is a file that has "AP" in it, we need only this, do not delete anything, it will be useful if your phone bootloops or softbricks (I will make an unbrick tutorial if you want).1f. The filename of the file should end in .tar.md5, delete the .md5, it should remain only .tar.Step 2. Transfer the file
Transfer the "AP" file to the phone, using USB, Cloud Storage or any method of file transfer. After that is done, proceed to the next step.Step 3. Patch the file
3a. Install the Magisk Manager app to patch the file, download the app here. You need to download it to yourcomputer and transfre it, or download it directly to your phone!3b. Install the Magisk Manager apk file.Step 4.
4a. Open The Magisk app.4b. Tap on "Install" in the "Magisk" section.

4c. Tap on "Next".4d. Tap on "Select and Patch a file".4e. Select the "AP" file you have transferred to your phone before.4f. Tap on "Let's Go", and then wait.Step 5. Transfer to computer
After the patching process has been completed, the patched file is gonna be at: /sdcard/Download/magisk_patched_[random_string].tar.Transfer the file to your computer.Step 6. Actually Flashing the patched file
6a. Download Odin on your computer.6b. Extract the zip archive into another folder.6c. Open the folder, run Odin3_v3.14.4.exe as administratorWARNING: IF YOU PROCEED ANY FURTHER, YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST IN THE PROCESS OF FLASHING, PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR PHONE!6d. You will need to sign out of Google/Samsung acoounts, after doing that, press "OK"
6e. Turn off your phone, then hold Volume Down, Home and Power and wait while your phone goes into that cyan-colored sceen6f. Press Volume Up on your phone, it should say "Downloading..." and in the up-left corner, it should say "FRP LOCK: OFF"6g. Plug in your cable, (USB-C goes in the phone and USB-A goes into your computer) it should say "Added!!" in your log (it will not be in my log because I'm just showing the example)6h. Press Button 1 and then 2 (as shown in the screenshot)
NOTE: The program will look different on my computer because I have custom dark theme, yours will look the same but white.6i. In the file picker window that appears, select the magisk_patched_[random_string].tar file that you transferred to your computer from your phone.6j. Press the "Start" button in the Odin softwareCongratulations! The flashing progess begins, you need to wait a little, then it should say "Pass" and then automatically reboot! If it says "Fail", you probably downloaded the wrong firmware. If it says "Pass" then you will see the setup screen where you need to select your language and press the start arrow, it will say a SIM card is needed, ignore that, you need to press the start arrow again. If you want, you can sign in to Google or Samsung, but in most cases, you would want to skip them, just by pressing the respective buttons.Step 7. Final Step: Magisk Setup
7a. The process is finished! After you have gone through the setup and got to your home screen, swipe up to see the app drawer, an app called "Magisk" with that strange Android "Default" icon should appear after a few seconds, you need to wait, if it does not appear, reboot your phone, and I should apper in the app drawer.7b. Tap the app.7c. A dialog saying that you need an internet connection to download the full app will appear, press "OK", then reopen the app.7d. Another dialog will open, tap "YES" to download the full Magisk Manager app.7e. Open the app with the normal well-known Magisk icon, it will say you need to restart, press "YES", your phone will restart. After the restart, Magisk will be installed! Install Root Checker to check if you have root! If the check fails, press "Install" in the "Magisk" section of the Magisk Manager app, click "Next", select "Direct Install (Recommended)" and tap "Let's Go". If there is no Direct install option, redo steps 0, 6 and 7.
Conclusion, Notes, Questions you might ask & Stuff
Conclusion
You have succesfully installed Magisk on your Samsung phone! If you didn't, feel free to ask any questions about this guide!
Notes
I think I read somewhere that Knox will not work after Magisk install.
Fingerprints and Banking apps will not work. I think there is a guide on how to fix it somewhere else in the XDA developer forums, but I forgot where.
There is a chance that Google Apps/Service won't work, it happened to me one time, but after I installed Xposed framework and my device softbricked, I needed to reflash to unbrick my phone, Google Apps and Services worked fine with Magisk installed, but instantly after I did the setup, I hid the Magisk app under the name "Settings".
DO NOT INSTALL XPOSED, I repeat, do not install Xposed framework! I softbricked my phone and I had to reflash my firmware, and reinstall all my favourite root apps!
Questions you might ask
Q: Can I flash custom recoveries without losing root?
A: Yes, you can, using Odin normally, but you have to disable the auto reboot option, TWRP did not install with this option on, but OrangeFox did.
Q: I don't understand your guide!
A: Feel free to post your questions in the replies! As noob frienly as possible!
Q: Do only you have to respond to all our questions?
A: Absolutely no! Anyone can respond, not only me, maybe some more experiences users could also respond.
Q: You misspeeled something!, Letters in wrong order!
A: Tell me if I got something wrong, I can make mistakes all the time, and I am sometimes distracted!
Q: My phone got softbricked/bootlooped!
A: Tell me, I will make a guide on how to unbrick your phone!
Q: Cool theme and cursor!
A: If you want I will give you download links for the theme and cursor.
Other Stuff
Did you like my guide? Tell me in the replies!
Did you root your phone using my guide? Tell me in the replies!
Did I make a mistake? Tell me in the replies!
Did you mess up? Tell me in the replies!
It took me so long to write & edit this post, because I did all that formatting!
Every time I needed to add a step or substep I need to rewrite all the letters and numbers, and I might get confused and make mistakes!
This is the first ever guide that I wrote on XDA developer forums, and I hope you liked it!
Bye!
Well done on writing an incredible looking guide! I can only say "looking" because I haven't followed it haha.
I wanted to know if this would work for the A5 varient...it's the one I have just been given...
Thanks!

Well, you can try.
Thank you for the post. I just followed the instructions and i can confirm that the procedure worked just fine. I suggest that you could include instructions to install a custom recovery. Thank you
ive followed this and similar method on youtube, but it stays on dowloading screen, flashes as if to reboot and back to dowloading screen.
Thank you for this very guide. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into it!
Unfortunately It did not succeeded to me and would appreciate your help:
Device details: Samsung A3, sm-a035f/ds
Relevant firmaware: A035FXXU1BVH4
OS version: Android 12
* The firmware matches my device
I followed your guide step by step but failed of step 6j - Odin's flashing progress fails.
Any suggestions how to solve this problem? Any tips for failing even with the correct firmware?
Thanks in advanced!

I also tried flashing the latest sm-a035f firmware (A035FXXU2BVI8)
This time Odin presented the process as success but the device would not load
What am I doing wrong?
