[AROMA|MOD][18th August][V0.3] Speed Up Your Rom! (Bloatware Remover) - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Apologies if this has already been linked.
This is a great tool that "should" remove bloatware on our devices, i say "should" because it was originally developed for the Play. The Dev has said it should work on but does depend on the bloatware app names.
This is not my work. Credit to fma965.

Awesome.....thanks. Just been sitting around thinking about snagging a good base to theme off of.
Also, does anyone think the Market fix will work for Juggs update.zip? It is so slow and buggy can't even hardly use it.

I was able to put the Alien theme on here. Did ADW Launcher EX come already installed? I had it. And my phone reboots as it's installing an app from the Market. This is after flashing the market zip.

Quite obvious
Almost impossible to have room for a modern sense rom.
Edit: The bug of grey images in HTC Hub is here.
is there a special installation process i should follow?...new partition ex4? what recovery should i use?.or can i just download and install carelessly?

Same requirements as my HyperSense, but with 1gb ext4
What's the required system space for a Sense ROM? Would it be possible using Blackrose custom partitioning to fit it without the use of external (or at least minimize the use of external)? If that's even feasible to begin with.
Also, can we get some screen shots in the OP please?

I've used the same process as always, using clockwork:
1) Wipe all data
2) Ext4 alignment
3) Flash rom
4) Reboot
Also, I have an 1Gb ext4 partition in my sdcard.
Are trackball wake and trackball notifications working on this rom?
It's seems Im running out of space for apps (I don't have too much apps either). I've already move dalvik-cache to sd-ext and there's a plenty space in sd-ext and even in /data. Any tips?
Also, the application manager says I have 143Mb free.

Whatever Sense ROM you'll try (especially Sense 3.0 & 3.5), it'll take much space Using Blackrose Custom Partition is possibile and really simple to "install".
Obviously the ROM itself must be updated, redirecting files and folders from the original "sdext" folder to the relative /system/ folders, BUT remaining into a certain limit size (previously stated while resizing N1 partition)!
So, we can gain some space for system apps to stay into NAND, but we must reduce drastically cache size, and we have to see if it could be a problem for bigger apps and for general usage.
A workaround for this is Cache2SD, which it should be automatic with the already present script (look at init.d folder) in my and other's ROM
because you, Iperzampem0 and evilisto not worked in groups to create a sense rom 100% functional
Hi dbasabe
Congratulations, this ROM is really cool and fast, but ... today 2 hours after installing it I had my first crash.
Perhaps the kernel is causing the crashes? maybe ...
I had no time to use the ROM, but the little I saw is very good.
Again, congratulations and tks for your nice work.

Team Overcome
All the hardworking Kernel Devs at lkml.org (Linus Torvalds, Jens Axboe, Mike Galbraith, etc.)
Special Mention to the following:
To my mates at the HyperDroid Dev Team: (who help me test and refine the features of our kernel for our ROM)
Arighi (for the initial guidance on how to get the kernel booting and working & a lot of battery driven patches)
D.O.C. (formerly doctorcete) (for the friendship and being an example of diplomacy in dealing with usual ****storm of questions from users who refuse to search and read)
AF974(for the Overcome based Recovery that's so bad ass I want to stay in recovery)
petsasj (for his great work on HyperDroidParts and all future Apps that are just pure awesomesauce!)
sicopat (for letting us use his server and helping us out with a lot of things smali)
s2d4 (for testing everything at the risk of the potentially time sucking Soft Brick... especially since we use a Mac)

This new Kernel has no need for any other tweaks as we've tweaked it based on extensive testing over the past several months... based on best practices for our specific hardware. (Huge props to s2d4 for his extensive testing to the point of breaking... we took the risk of breaking our devices so you won't have too... fully tested tweaks here!)

Copy downloaded ROM zip file in root dir of sd card.
Boot to recovery.
Wipe Data/cache/dalvik cache.
Flash zip from internal sd card.
The first boot would take some time as the dalvik cache is rebuilt, dont panick!!
Already rooted / on Custom ROM
Copy downloaded ROM zip file in root dir of sd card.
Boot to recovery
Flash zip from internal sd card.

Flashing Surgeons and themes - Quick reckoner
Surgeon = DPI change + Remove Bloatware (make changes in the update script as you think fit) + Tweaks & Apps + Theme (includes boot logo and boot anim)
To flash a new surgeon, flash base again (since base is full wipe, take backup of apps/user data through titanium, darky OTA etc...)
Flash base + surgeon/Flash base + theme: Wipe cache, dalvik cache and flash.
To flash a theme on top of a surgeon or on an exisiting theme, flash the stock Samsung theme FIRST and then go ahead with flashing the new theme.

SOURCE: https://github.com/sk8erwitskil/touch_recovery_cm10.1
This is what the new dedupe format does. This is a direct quote from the original creator of clockworkmod:
Code:
ClockworkMod Recovery now deduplicates files between builds. This results in way smaller backups.
Don't delete /sdcard(or emmc)/clockworkmod/blobs
Overview
I've gotten a few questions about how this works, so I figured I'd make a post on it.
Basically, here's what happens:
The files being backed up are hashed (sha256, not that it matters). Then it checks for a file with the name of the hash in
/sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs
So, if the hash of the file was c5273884b90d490134e7737b29a65405cea0f7bb786ca82c6337ceb24de6f5ed, it looks for /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs/c5273884b90d490134e7737b29a65405cea0f7bb786ca82c6337ceb24de6f5ed
If the hash file is found, it continues on to the next file. Otherwise, it copies the file to the blobs directory with the file name being the hash.
ROMs and user data, for the most part, do not change too much between builds and backups. So, your APKs, system files, etc, are generally only stored once. This saves a ton of space. Especially between incremental backups.
Some of you may be thinking "well, how do I delete a backup?".
First, never delete the blobs directory. This would actually delete all your backups by rendering them unusable.
Simply delete the usual backup directory, and the next time you run a backup, all the unused hash files will be automatically delete (a process known as garbage collection). The recovery will show "Freeing space..." while this is happening.
Whats in the extras menu?
- change bootanimation (this lets you select a bootanimation form your internal sdcard. it backs up your current bootanimation to /{internal sdcard}/clockworkmod/ba_backup/. it only backs up the original bootanimation so if you keep changing your bootanimation you will still only have your original one in ba_backup.)
- enable/disable one confirm (this makes it so you only have to scroll through one confirm selection when installing something instead of having to go through 10 of them to click yes)
- hide/show backup & restore progress (this makes it so the progress bar when you backup/restore doesnt show up and makes backups/restores a bit faster since it doesnt have to show you the progress and files its backing up)
- select android_secure on internal/external (use this to select where you have .android_secure. default is internal, so if you have it on external make sure to choose this once to set it up)
- aroma file manager (file explorer)
- create custom zip (this will create a custom rom from the currently installed files you have on your phone. it takes your /system partition and /boot partition and makes them into a zip file ready to be flashed. the end product will be in clockworkmod/custom_rom/. this has recently been fixed to work on all phones/roms
- choose custom openrecoveryscript (read THIS)
- recovery info (shows the version of recovery and the build date)
- Special Backup & Restore (backup and restore your kernel/boot and /misc partitions)
- Misc Nandroid Settings (change time zone, turn preload support on/off (default is off), enable md5 checking, disable assert check)

Glad to see you here in the OG forums! Thanks for working on this!
Ok got it to work. I can create a fakeflash that you flash in your current cwm. All touch code is working great which is the hardest part
I'm gona have to make some ramdisk edits to make an installable recovery.img. hopefully iomonster gets back to me on how he fixed the ramdisk to get it booting

got it working great. just uploaded now.
Just installed on e973, works well, looks nice. Thanks for your work.
Installed on my E973 and work nice too. Thanks for the work. If you could add a bit more space between menu item, it would be perfect. I have big finger
Gr8 stuff sk8. Only problem i found is the md5 mismatch bug (it doesn't create an md5sum while creating backups). No biggie, but if it's easily fixed it'd be nice to not have to make an md5 manually every time.
Also curious if it's possible to change the font. Thanks!

[ROM]{D6603/33/53} Fragment ROM V5 Finalized Ultra [MM .291][LB/UB]

Update 2018: Not many people are on Z3 anymore and even less using Fragment ROM, but just a heads-up - Mediafire has begun flagging random files as viruses in attempts to get users to purchase Bitdefender from them (I'm assuming they get a commission) so I have taken the liberty of removing all my files so that Mediafire is no longer tempted to flag them up, and so that they don't get any ad revenue from potential users visiting the links. Everything needed is on AFH so this won't affect much anyway. Just an explanation for some missing links.
Fragment ROM by Dobsgw
For Locked Bootloader. UB has it's own version in download section.
Deodexed Base
Based on Latest Sony 23.5.A.1.291 Global Firmware (D6603)
Includes all latest Baseband 61, fotakernel, 28 Jun Sony Kernel
SuperSU 2.79 and TWRP 3.0.2 included with init.d support added
This is a reasonably close to Stock ROM approach with some minor changes such as XZ SystemUI and dynamic framework for improved look and performance. No soundmods, no unnecessary scripts, no bloat unless you want it.
A solid custom ROM for those who like to make their own changes.
Overtime I may add or remove features to fine tune, but anything you feel is missing can just be flashed over for your own personalization.
(The obvious disclaimer: I am not responsible for anything that goes wrong with your device if you flash this. I have taken as many steps possible to ensure top quality and am running this myself, but you have been warned!!)

None in V5

Boot to TWRP recovery.
Do not wipe system as this is done by scripts.

Install ROM
[If you have D6633/53 then flash the patch now]
(you can install Xposed Framework now too if you want it once ROM and OTA's are installed)
Wipe cache and dalvik
Reboot
Wait for optimization
Enjoy!!!

IF YOU HAVE UB SEE HERE
So after reports that V4.1.5 doesn't work, that V4.1.5 did work, that V5 doesn't work and that V5 actually does work (with custom kernels I mean).....
I'm leaving both versions here for people to download. They should both work. It is down to users to get custom kernels to boot with Fragment ROM now as I can only provide the ROM as is. My argument is that if you are running an unlocked bootloader then you should be at an advanced enough level to work out what needs to be done in order to make the phone boot up with a custom kernel. You are free to edit the Fragment ROM zips to your preference and modify anything for your private use to get things working (in fact I encourage you to do this to get the most out of your device!).
So have a go and let users know in the thread what worked for you on which kernel to get it booted up.
V4.1.5 UB Download links:
Android File Host: Fragment ROM V4.1.5 For Unlocked Bootloader
MediaFire: Removed as Mediafire is flagging files as viruses to force users to purchase Bitdefender from them.
V5 Finalized-Ultra UB Download Links:
Android File Host: Fragment ROM V5 Finalized-Ultra for Unlocked Bootloader
Due to incompatibility with RecRoot (the method of achieving root and recovery on Locked Bootloader) I have had to make a separate version of Fragment for Unlock Bootloader users if you want to use custom kernels.
The only difference is the lack of recroot so be warned you need to flash / fastboot your chosen custom kernel for TWRP access (only tested 78Kernel)
Instructions:
Boot to TWRP (install this however you want if you don't already have it)
Factory Reset
Flash Fragment ROM UB Version (this still includes the stock kernel, just not root or recovery)
Flash Kernel (tested with 78Kernel)
Flash SuperSU Systemless
Flash DRM Patch
Reboot (it will probably show a black screen for a while if flashing SuperSU. Don't touch it. If it hangs there for longer than around 5 mins (was for me) then it might not be booting so have patience / try again)
ADDONS:
NAV-BAR Sizes D6603 ONLY (NOW 3 DOT LAG FIXED):
- Dynamic Nav-Bars (ie: will change to color of apps that support this feature):
Dynamic Nav-Bar 36 dpi: AFH - Dynamic 36dpi Nav-Bar
Dynamic Nav-Bar 42 dpi: AFH - Dynamic 42dpi Nav-Bar
Dynamic Nav-Bar 48 dpi: AFH - Dynamic 48dpi Nav-Bar
NAV-BAR Sizes D6633 ONLY:
- Dynamic Nav-Bars (ie: will change to color of apps that support this feature):
Dynamic Nav-Bar 36 dpi: Removed as Mediafire is flagging files as viruses to force users to purchase Bitdefender from them.
Dynamic Nav-Bar 42 dpi: Removed as Mediafire is flagging files as viruses to force users to purchase Bitdefender from them.
Dynamic Nav-Bar 48 dpi: Removed as Mediafire is flagging files as viruses to force users to purchase Bitdefender from them.
SystemUIs:
MediaFire: Removed as Mediafire is flagging files as viruses to force users to purchase Bitdefender from them.
Camera Apps ADDON: Removed as Mediafire is flagging files as viruses to force users to purchase Bitdefender from them.
Missing Apps ADDON #1: Removed as Mediafire is flagging files as viruses to force users to purchase Bitdefender from them.
For this I recommend downloading and using an archive tool to go through and delete all apps you don't want and then flash to get the ones you missed
Missing Apps ADDON #2 (combine with first one to get all bloat or just flash this for all apps that were in V1): Removed as Mediafire is flagging files as viruses to force users to purchase Bitdefender from them.

I just removed Chrome completely from this since you can get it from Play Store anyway. I did the same to V2 of the Deodex.
It looks like you need to go to system/vendor/app and delete the ChromeCustomizations folder. I don't know why since I deodexed it, but it causes an issue for Chrome.
I have just done this and it works fine. This will be sorted in V2
Yeah try it. If you have any issues you can clean install, but I don't see any problems from that. Remember this is heavily debloated compared to the Stock Deodex so if any apps are missing you can download the addons and edit them with an archive tool like 7zip or winrar and delete all the bloat you don't want. Then flash it and you'll have the system apps back that you are missing
Perfect, the more debloat, the better

So far so good. Only recently installed but I'll see how it goes.

Good to hear. Remember for V1 to delete the Chrome Customization folder in system/vendor/app or Chrome won't play nice.
Apart from that I don't think there's any bugs.
I'm already working on changing the SystemUI a little bit, but I'll see what happens. There may be an updated version of the Xperia X one coming soon...

Great ROM, anyway to implement support for Mass Storage mode(MSC) ?

I will look into it but no promises ;p
It seems to be an archaic and unnecessary transfer protocol. The device would be partitioned completely differently for true implementation and I think it's best left in the past...
What's wrong with MTP?
How do i Change The pull down menu from Blue to Black?

Change theme.
There's a black theme that I use.
Try the black theme then in Blurred SystemUI set it to 100% transparency for a cool effect

You mean bright blue or dark blue?
This is mine without BlurredUI.
If it isn't the same as mine. Apply the theme and reboot/ restart systemUI.
If you wanted another colour you need to find a theme this black notification panel. I admit that it isn't actually black but that's Sony for you
krapster said:
Well I use my SD Card a lot and I tend to transfer huge files and it goes much faster using MSC than MTP, I can also drag files from browsers and other programs when i have MSC but I can't using MTP

Ah okay well I don't think I can add that.
It might be something you need to do yourself for your device. I don't even know if I could do it on a locked bootloader
krapster said:
Well I believe it can be done, not sure about the specifics myself but running RXSW ROM it does seem to work even under locked bootloader, great ROM regardless!

Okay well good suggestion.
It won't be a priority but if I get a chance and can manage it I can always add it later.
No time soon though. Taking it slow to make sure it's stable.
Couple things to work out already and I'm working hard on V2
Working on version 2. Won't be released until there is a significant enough change to warrant uploading a whole ROM. So could take a while.
I will make it an OTA patch though to flash over V1, but some manual work will need to be done to clean bugs.
So far...
Change Log v2:
Fixed Chrome issues by deleting chrome customization from vendor/apps (people on V1 can do this themselves. Also delete the ims folder in there)
Cleaned up the systemUI apk to add back some defaults from Xperia X
Fixed org.codeaurora.ims stopped issue on some start-ups (version 1 users delete ims folder from vendor/apps as stated)
Disabled mobile data disabled notification as it is annoying as hell
Fixed the weird sound when taking pics/ screenshot with sound on (changed the shutter sound in system back to default)
