I had noticed that my external sdcard is not is recognized as "sdcard01", so it's on the same level as :
/storage
sdcard0 sdcard1 usbdisk0

How can i set the external sd-card as the real "external_sd" when you open the main sdcard and find the folder?

Hi, my external sdcard1 is in the directory as the main sdcard, sdcard0, under /system.
If i go inside sdcard0 and open the folder external_sd, no files are in there.
When using the apps beam reader or hide n seek, it can only see the sdcard0, not the sdcard1.
I tried reflash and wipe internal and external sdcard but still the ext sdcard is still assigned as sdcard1.
I would appreciate any fix.

I believe that the structure for the internal/external files is set during the flash and initial boot of the device, and is rom dependent. thats why I always format the emmc partition, (internal sd card) when flashing a new build.
It seems too often that leftovers are present on the emmc, and are not cleared when wiping in the recovery.
now I'm not saying that this is an absolute, but I'm guessing that if you were too backup your data...(pictures, documents) to PC, and then go to recovery and format the emmc partition, (along with a clean format to FAT32 of the external SD card )...
that upon reboot, the rom dependent file structure will be placed on the internal emmc partition. And you will then see the proper file structure for the external card.
It has worked well for me several times in the past, and with the exception of a few CM builds, will not cause errors. And regarding CM card sight errors, it appears that the file, system/nomedia, placed to the device by rom manager app, will block the access to the external SD entirely by failing to mount. And can be corrected by removing the nomedia file.
I'm no expert, and I'm simply trying my best to help....g

What do you mean "format the emmc partition"? Is the TWRP, it's either WIPE>Internal Storage or ADVANCED>Partition SD Card, under this option, there is a number for EXT size and the default was 512 and Swap Size: 32.
Which one should I choose? I had already tried teh Wipe>Internal Storage and format the external-sdcard using FAT32 in my computer and re-flashed but still did not work.
Please advise.

I had downloaded Mini Tool Partition Wizard and now formatting my internal sdcard as EXT4, with default cluster size, the other options for cluster are only 1KB, 2KB, 3KB and 4KB so I chose Default.
I will see what will happen.

Because i tried directing it to /storage/sdcard1 but it doesn't do the trick

I think I got a similar issue than you once had and I wonder, how did Mini Partition Tool solve your problem?
My issue is this:
When running the stock Samsung firmware, my external SDCARD was mounted at /storage/extSdCard
I have now installed CM13 (Bliss-ROM) and the external SD card is mounted at /storage/3937-3663
As a result, my restored apps (via Titanium) are looking at /storage/extSdCard for files that are at /storage/3937-3663.
What's the ideal way to resolve my "apps looking in the wrong place" problem?
Renaming "3937-3663" to "extSdCard" is not possible.
Re-linking the apps to the correct path would be very time-consuming, esp. for apps like "Tasker", which has many wrong path-entries right now.
Any suggestions?

- Root Permission
- The second partition on the SD Card, and both MUST PRIMARY
The first partition is the default storage of data on the SDcard. The second partition (which will be created) is a partition for storage applications for Link2sd.
download "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition" on the PC, then plug the sdcard in the PC (u can directly use the phone, or card reader). by using this program, agan no need to format, partition, or delete data in the beginning, to create a new partition.
Install and open minitool, select the drive which will be partitioned sdcard, select resize the unallocated area. for PRIMARY, NOT logical. Free partition size is up. klo above 2GB FAT32 file system should pake. FAT32 support is generally on all phones. APPLY, and then turn on the phone.
(for more secure data back up anyway in the SD Card)
- Install Link2sd, have mounted, select FAT32, restart again and Tada!! Applications can be moved to SD, ga who need to use complicated script

Well,after partitioning it,connect it to a pc and open mini tool partition wizard.If it shows that you have a sd-ext partition,then theres a partition in your sd,no doubt.If Link2SD still shows that it cant mount sd-ext,then you are a victim of that bug.I get the same error when i try to use link2sd too.Use S2E instead

If you are using cm7,then use S2E.Its better,otherwise,you need to flash DTA2SD...

On the latest version of CWM, there is the option to save to internal or external SD card once you have created, or accepted, the name of the file names backup.
Tip: Always save your backups to your external SD card in case of problems you may encounter with flashing.
You can choose in cwm backup/restore menu : backup internal sd.
or make a backup in external, then copy paste the clockworkmod dir in internal sd

Ive noticed some cwm-r versions are kind of "reversed" too when it comes to backup/restore and install from locations... when you chose internal the cwm-r uses the external and the other way around. so if you have chosen to backup to internal but it put it on external anyways then try to do the backup to external to have it on the internal sd don't know if that's the case with version you use though.....
A quick question: I have 3 nandroid backups made by CWM in INTERNAL sd card. I know that the amound of free space IS reduced (ES Explorer. Android storage and Windows tell me so). Still, the /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup folder contains only a nandroid I have done of the stock ROM before I started flashing... the other nandroids are invisible. I 've even connected the phone in windows and tried to search for .md5 files.... only got the one concerning my old stock ROM backup. Where does the CWM save its' backup files? Should I format the internal card?

Ok this is becoming weirder and weirder by the second. So, I had a nice backup of stock ROM (which yielded the amazing: "Your device is modified, no software updates available" har har har). So I fire up "My Files". And lo and behold, in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backups, the three backups I have done are visible. This sounds.... fishy. To say the least. Hey guys, wondering if you could help me. I'm running Jelly Blast V-3.5, with Rafaels Kernel 2.6.35-7 on my S5380i. I've been trying to increase the internal storage on my device by partitioning my 32gb card in CWM with a 1gb ext. I've tried every solution I've found on this forum but I simply cannot get it to mount. Link2sd yields 'invalid argument' no matter where I point it, and when trying to format/mount the ext. in CWM it just says 'apps 2 sd partition not found'.
Here's a list of the things I've tried which have failed to solve this:
Partitioning in minitool, with various sizes and exts, and setting the partition as active.
Flashing conrod script, doesnt seem to be effective.

it used to happen to me that when I flashed new roms I had to mount sd-ext from mounts and storage
so mount it then reboot your phone
go to link2sd and create mount script as ext4
if problem persists , go in storage info of link2sd so see if the partition is mounted
if not you will have to enable auto mount at boot ( if option present in rom ) or mount using terminal emulator

Attempted to mount in CWM but just receive an error. It's as if the partition isn't there at all. Re-partioned the card but still, no luck.
My rom doesn't have the auto mount at boot option, so it looks I'll have to mount with terminal emulator. Could you run me through the process, or point me towards a guide? Cheers

Try to format all available space to 1 partition and using cwm format the card to two part. May be partitioning before makes cwm recognize the wrong part and gives error.

Make sure you have backed up all your files in your sdcard they will all be deleted and recreated with two partition.
In CWM enter Advanced --> use Partition SD Card
Set your second (ext2/3/4) partition size then set swap to zero (0).

Using a card reader enter your sd card to a computer and test if card has a problem or partitions are correctly created. If your answer is yes you may have a misconfig on your phone. Make sure u have the latest busybox available, have rooted your phone correctly, vs...
Or create your partitions in computer and try...
Ps: I created my partition in Stock Rom. So it must NOT depends on kernel or rom...

That unallocated space is your problem. Try to create an ext2/3 partion with mini tool. And if minitool gives error than you probably have a defected sd.
And one more suggestion try the cwm in rafaels kernel thread.

Turns out my SD card is defective, swapped for another card and I've now increased my internal storage!

Thanks for the link! seems like my CWM wasn't detecting sd-ext.. this fixed!! feared my sd card was ruined.. really thanks a lot!
My internal SD card is mostly full (11GB) after a year of using my i9300, and I'm not sure where all that space has gone (some pictures and video but I think a lot of apps I used throughout the last year but ended up deleting). So I figure the next time I try a new ROM I will delete the whole thing and start from scratch, backing up my data of course. I will back up the entire internal SD card to my computer and take a nandroid backup before doing anything.

What does the wipe data / factory reset option in ClockworkMod Recovery actually wipe?
Does a nandroid backup back up the internal SD card? I have a feeling the answer is no, but then what does it actually back up?
If I use TitaniumBackup to back up all my app data and move that backup to my computer, then I delete the internal SD card, wipe the system, tehen replace my old ROM with a new ROM, then use TitaniumBackup to restore my apps and their data, am I missing anything? For example, I don't think certain data gets backed up by TitaniumBackup, for example photos (even though that might be considered 'data' of the camera app), so what could I be unwittingly missing when I do my restore from TitaniumBackup? How will I know what things I need from what's currently on my internal SD card?

Lets distinguish between these things.
The "internal SDcard" is NOT an sdcard. It is a partition on the internal memory referred to as /sdcard (on other phones /sdcard mounts to removable media but not here). However, as it happens, the internal memory itself is an eMMC (embedded MultiMedia Card) which is where the confusion arises, so let us refer to eMMC as "Internal Memory" from here on.
The internal memory has many partitions (It's 14.9 GiB in total). It has a /system partition (ROM goes here) a /boot partition (bootloader), /recovery partition (guess) and /cache partition and a /data partition (A few others that aren't of interest here).
Usually /data is where all your data and apps go (in /data/app and /data/data) however, we use the FUSE file system to cleverly put /sdcard (usually removable media) into /data/media. This way /data is fully used as user data space.

Backup titanium to /sdcard then copy EVERYTHING from /sdcard to computer, will catch everything. Titanium doesn't back up stuff on /sdcard unless it is explicitly part of an application and you select that option in preferences
Your best option would be to format Internal SD card. And as you install a new rom, as you can see you only have 11GB of free space. Thats what is left from your total 16GB. Android OS reserves some space for bootloader, rom and cache.
The factory reset in recovery will delete all your system settings, apps, messages, call log and such. But if I'm correct it shouldn't touch the pictures. Nandroid backup doesnt hold your whole Internal SD card in itself.
And titanium backup backups apps and their settings, but it will not backup messages or pictures.. You can for example manually copy pictures to your computer and then back to your device. And for messages there is a good app called 'SMS Backup & Restore'.

I backup via philz_touch_6.00.8 but when i tried to restore philz_touch_6.00.8 could not find the backup folder or file. Also when i check the my data using file explorer also i could not find backup file or folder. Interesting that capasity of internal sd card is less then befor about 3 GB. Could you explain why i could not find and restore or remove ?

I've followed the guide but I did not succeed and I think I konw why: when I run CWM I don't have any /sd-ext partition.
I've followed all the steps under "Partition SD Card" , and I've used ext2 for formatting the new "memory" .
Anyone has had the same problem? Anyone could help me to find what am I doing wrong?

I guess you are talking about step 11, just after chossing the filesystem type:
10) First , Choose ext2. If it don't work then restart Link2SD and when then don't choose ext2 but ext4. ( Don't worry , it works )
11) It will say mount script created. Reboot your phone now.

If so, yes, after chossing ext2 it does not complain. After reboot I see a second partition "/data/sdext2" : Total:0.89GB used 64,91MB Free: 850MB.
(is it ext2? If I plug the mobile into my linux box it says it's FAT32):

I don't have that "/sd-ext" partition, so I cannot format it.
But I've continued with the manual and tried to install an app (whatsapp). Now Link2sd says that the app has been linked, the /data/sdext2 partitoin now shows 85,97MB used but when I go to apps, manage apps, I see that my mem has decreased in ~ 20 MB . Is that the expected behaivour?
This I explain myself clear? if not, sorry but I'm newb to this world

Yes, that's how Link2SD works. It will link the data associated with the app to ext partition. If you go to the Settings> Storage, you will see that the total internal memory remains the same. But you can still see the available memory has increased due to linking to ext. To see how much of the ext partition is used, just go to Link2SD> Storage. Now if you are not satisfied with Link2SD, you can try the CronMod Unofficial. First backup all the SD Card data. Also if you want to try CronMod Unofficial after installing Link2SD, it better to flash the custom rom again after formatting /system and /data from CWM. This will get rid of all Link2SD files which can otherwise mess with CronMod Official. Now go to CWM> Format /sdcard. This will delete the ext partition. Now CWM> Advanced> Partition SD Card> Size (Max 1GB, anymore and system will lag)> Swap (0MB) and wait for it to say "Partitioning done". Now download and place CronMod Unofficial to SD Card. Now again go to CWM> Mounts & Storage> Mount /system then flash the Cronmod Unofficial zip from CWM and finally unmount /system. Reboot and you are good to go. Now go to Settings>Storage to see the newly increased internal memory. Here is the link,

ops... I expected more space for installing apps, not just for data. Ok, I can install more apps than before, but not all the ones I want.

Great. But since yesterday I've been experience speed "problems". I'm wondering if makes snes to gain space but lose speed... Maybe I try and decide with this new method. (Maybe the ROM also affects? ace-i-sure 8 to 12 could cause such speed issues?)

Hi,
after a couple of days I've seen that the speed problems do not compensate teh fact of having more apps installed, so I'm not going to try this new approach.
I've re-flashed the rom without using externad SD and it's running really fine.

Glad I could help And yes irrespective of what method you choose to increase the internal memory, there will always be a lag after you exceed a certain number of app install. This is because in all cases the /data is moved to ext partition of the SD Card. SD Card R/W speed is always lesser than internal memory R/W speed. You can control this lag to a certain extend by using class 8 or higher SD Card and only installing necessary apps.
