They Promised Me Emojis With My Ice Cream Sandwich - Where Are They?! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I see in various places that ICS has the iPhone emojis built in because it has "Unicode 6". I sure can't find them. (I already know how to use the Handsent add-in. That's okay as far as it goes. I would like them for Kik Messenger and email.) What am I missing? I just put on stock AT&T ICS. I'm willing to try other stuff. I've seen the thread about how to add a font with "black and white" emojis to GB already. I'd be willing to do that much work for color emojis.

I thought emojis were added in jb?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app

Awe man! That's "bait and switch!" I know I saw on some google website (android.com?) that one of the features of ICS is these emojis. This is SO importatant (<-hyperbole). Maybe AT&T took em out? They sure seemed to make their ICS look like their GB. I've never seen any other ICS though. Maybe it's just that ICS looks and acts almost like GB? That's it! I've worked myself into a frenzy and I'm flashing that CyganoMod thing. (I'll have to wait til I get home from work, so I'll probably settle down enough to be careful in time).

ICS doesn't look like gingerbread. Its the touchwiz user interface and the horrible job they did that makes it look like that. Pure ICS from Google looks much better.

I havent looked for any changelog. I have just been watching YouTube videos about it. lol. But you are right. Its pretty much just ICS on steroids. The biggest features are google now and whatever they did to make the OS super fast. At least thats what I feel are the major changes.

Yeah. I knew about project butter. But don't know what exactly they did. Something to do with the processors utilizing the OS better I think. It would be cool to be able to use what they did to make other android versions faster.

It feels like alot of clutter was removed from the system and the store was changed. Play Magazines is actually an awesome addition with reasonably priced items (.99 c for any one mag $14.99 for an annual subscription). Google Now is actually kind of scary in that it has just what you need to know when you need to know it. The 'card' system is great when you want to know about the current weather and traffic but the google seach integration sucks therefore making the sports and travel cards blow. The notification bar has been improved allowing you read whole messages and call from there, snooze alarms and whatnot. The whole thing is just....smoooth...Jelly Bean is ICS fully realized.

Jelly Bean for i717

Hello all.
Been reading through the development posts and can't find a stable ROM jb with s-pen apps.
I mean really jb for the note.
Is there such a thing?
Reason s-pen and not Papyrus is I have a Wacom Cross pen and have gotten used to the eraser which only the s-pen utilities seem to work with.
Thanks for tolerating this newbie.

Stock Samsung apps won't be on jb unless Samsung release a jb ROM. All the jb ROMs are aosp based liked cm.
Some apps may work with that pen eraser though, don't have one to test.

I don't understand what you mean by wow you? What exactly wows you? What tweaks do you want aside from being able to change the way the screen completely looks indefinitely?
I think the newness of devices gives it the wow factor more than anything. I'm pretty sure that if you went to another phone, you'd be looking for wow factor again.
For me, I really enjoy being able to control my laptop from my note while the laptop is hooked up to a projector and doing class presentations for my students. That usually gets a "wow. That's really cool you can do that"

Ya same here. Having sense 5 on my note 2 with how big the screen is and with amazing battery life. It would be sweet. I'm a fan of sense. I love how easy it is to quickly add widgets and apps to home screens. Looking forward into seeing what the HTC ONE MAXX had to offer. I may switch. We'll see

I'm with you.. after coming from an iphone 5 to the note 2, I can't go back to any phone smaller. Hopefully the ONE MAXX is good competition.

TOTALLY agree dude. The new Sense is damn sexy. And now that I've held a ONE, I'm pretty certain this is my last Samsung. My sights are set firmly on the ONE 'Max.'

Ya the one is a pretty nice looking device. Haven't got to hold it yet without something attached from the back of it Lol. But ya, I don't think I can go back to a smaller screen. And the s pen is nice as well. Its nice for notes. I'm sure the HTC Max will be pretty dang nice

I'm sure I could live with a smaller screen again. Picking up my GNex I'm all like, "whoa SO easy to hold!" I still need to hold it untethered too, but DAMN. I rarely use my SPen, which is why I spend so much time on AOSP ROMs probably.

Ported is not the same as working. Since you seem to have a PhD in this, feel free to provide examples professor.

I think the response was proportional, someone was an ass to him so he returned the favor.

In what way was I an ass? He claimed something and I gave a rebuttal. In no way was I rude, I just stated that he should do more research before he completely shoots down someone's request/idea.

Though it looks buggy.
