PLZ Help... TOTAL NOOB - Motorola Droid X2

I want to start off with a pre-apology for not keeping up on this Android / Smartphone stuff.
Here's the deal:
Never really used my Droid X2 much until it started acting weird after I let a "friend" use it. I find out a little later, Said "friend" used my roommate's computer to help him "cleanup" his files and help secure the wifi. After realizing what might have happened I checked out the roomies PC. I have no idea what he did specifically, but now im trying to download device drivers, look at files through an explorer, etc. and I can't do any administration stuff. I tried using my restriction lock for outgoing calls cuz Skype is goin NUTZ now but I dunno if its actually working when I see the "calls disable" prompt pop up randomly like someones trying to use the line. I have all these program package installer apps running in the background as well as Motorola service apps that I've never downloaded myself.
After research I think he setup his own driver while using my phone and my roomies comp (i honestly was asleep & I trusted chillin wit the kidso I'm sure he saw my unlock code... TOTAL mistake) that has something to do with android SDK and writing code for it and then continuing his "project" (my Droid x2) remote from wherever he was after while somehow maintaining a good network connection either through my Droid or my roomies wifi, which I used everytime I'm home cuz it saved data.
I've learned, or read, a lot... but I don't understand the basics or the foundations here. And everytime I try to follow a step by step process, I'm somehow not permission denied
Plz help
Sent from my DROID X2

I'm not really clear on the issue. But if your friend messed something up on your phone and now you cant do anything on it, I would use this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317707
Basically, you need to do a full factory reset on your phone. Thats the best I can do without knowing what exactly is wrong with your phone.

Im also not sure what your getting at but sbf and a factory reset will set anything back to right. And also most of that stuff you were talking about is part of the phone to begin with.

[Q] com.google.process.gapps crashes

Hi everyone. It's been two days since the process com.google.process.gapps has started crashing, "stopping unexpectedly" whenever i use the browser on my tab.
Reading the error report, it seems (not 100% sure about that) this is somehow related to the bookmarks sync with Chrome, but i can't find a way to disable this.
Has anyone exprerienced the same issue? Any known solution? Thanks
Go to settings > accounts and sync, click on your account then uncheck everything, then manually sync everything one by one to see what is causing the error.
Then go to manage apps and clear the cache of all the problem apps and re-sync them once you're done. It might take a few tries but it should take care of that error.
I'll try that as soon as possible, thanks!
browser sync was causing this for me
I believe that bookmarks sync no long works with galaxy tab. Google changed something on their end that should have worked fine(it still works on the xoom, transformer, etc.) but since samsung changed a bunch of stuff for no apparent reason, it is now broken. samsung is so stupid sometimes..
So you're basically suggesting that bookmarks sync should stay off to avoid problems like that?
well I don't really know. I never used bookmark sync in the first place. I'm just going by what is said in this article.
http://www.zdnet.com/blog/perlow/br...gle-or-the-oems/17840?tag=mantle_skin;content
It turns out that at some point Google started making some changes to the backend systems that handle Google’s user account data. There’s nothing wrong with them doing this; it happens all the time. In fact, no other Android 3.1 tablets had any issues at all with the changes, and their bookmark sync continued to work without a blip on the radar.
Not Samsung, however... I did some digging around the internet, and it’s become somewhat well-known amongst Android developers that Samsung actually modifies core source code in the Android operating system that handles communicating with Google’s backend data services.

Well, that's a pity. I had just started to think it was a useful tool to keep track of unread web pages between work, home and outside...
Let's hope Samsung somehow fixes that.
PS: disabling bookmarks sync actually stops the process from crashing, I think I've solved (if we could really say so...) the issue. Thanks to all!
Thanks, disabling auto sync for browser has stopped the error. Samsung developers need to fix this - I can't auto sync my gmail
What am I missing here?
Ok be prepared, this post may be rather long winded however I will try my best to prevent that. I have a Tmobile G2x I purchased on launch date. Ive not attempted to Root, change roms, or anything of the sort. (as much as I always wanted to, I always felt that my skills were not good enough to attempt these ideas no matter how easy they may seem. I just did not want to be the cause of screwing up my phone that I paid dearly for)
So I have a friend who claims to be the master (of disaster so it turns out) of rooting androids and such. He stops by my house just to hang out and eventualy convinces me to let him root my phone and install CM7. Within a few minutes the phone was rooted (super1click) and was running CM7 release candidate. (I really dont know what all these things truly are but I drilled him for answers once he jacked up my phone and left me with a half-bricked phone) So he installed Rom manager and convinced me to upgrade to the premium version via marketplace so I did. He was then showing me how easy it was to flash new roms at the touch of a few buttons. He put on some other rom which looked like CM7 but claimed to have extra tweaks. It worked fine. A few minutes later he put on some Faux Rom which gave a boot up screen like my old Nexus One did. (Multicolored X) It seemed to work fine as well. Then he said lets check out the nightly CM7 Rom so he put it on. (however I dont think it ever actually put CM7 back on.-still on Faux?) Thats when things got crazy.
Now I get the com.google.process.gapps force close message all the time. He tried to fix it for 4 hours and finally gave up. Here is what I know he/we tried: After searching the internet for hours we tried everyone elses ideas. Clearing calenders cashes, un syncing, etc. We did about 40 factory resets. We have tried to install my backup (which was from BEFORE he even touched my phone) and upon holding both volume rockers and plugging in USB (no battery installed) and it still does nothing. Windows recognizes device but phone screen stays black. Tried Debug mode while doing this as well. If we hold the volume down button and power the little install bar comes on the screen and it does its thing (whatever that is) and goes right back to the way it was. I keep getting the gapps message all the time. After factory reset I cant even type in my gmail address to start the initial setup of the phone. The force close keeps cutting me off. If I type fast, I can sync the account but I cant use market whatsoever. Tried installing Rom manager to re-flash but just sticks at starting download and gapps pops up again.
My son is starting school tomorrow and he has a medical condition. I NEED this phone to communicate with the school nurse via emails and such. As of now I can only text, call, or surf web all while dodging force closes. If ANYONE out there can please help me get my phone back to normal Id greatly appreciate it. Im sure its something easy but as I said before, Im not good at this thing and thats why I never attempted it myself. Your welcome to submit answers here or PM me your phone # if you want to walk me through it on the phone. (I have a landline phone to talk to you on) Thanks in advance for everyones time and Im sorry this ended up being so long.
Hello,
Based on your post, I would suggest that you search your phone's development forum on XDA for a compatable clockwork recovery mod which will install a custom recovery on your phone. The thread will give you instructions on how to do so and how to enter recovery mode.
You can then enter the 'Backup and Restore' part of the recovery and restore your backup manually without using ROM manager. If this doesn't work, I would suggest that you then download the ROM of your choice and install it from the clockwork recovery. Make sure you clear user data and wipe the cache before you install.
Any fix yet? This is really annoying me as I rely on my bookmarks tremendously.
try this:
Open stock browser and under settings choose clear cache and deletehistory

[Q] After bricking/unbricking my phone I've decided to ask for help

Ok let me first state off that I am a complete noob, and I would not have even gotten my Photon to even be rooted if it wasn't for Qbking and his Youtube tutorials.... well tbh recently I have been getting into a game on my phone... and it requires device registration to get certain presents. well I found this app called Pdoid... to be really blunt i dont know much of what it does aside from blocking apps from accessing certain stuff... the problem is that it requires me to patch my rom.... not knowing what I was doing i made the patch off of a program called... CyanogenMod... well when i installed it then installed the patch, my phone booted to the logo screen and said failed to boot 2. as well as two other things that would switch between each other. thanks to Qbking once again cause one of his videos allowed me put my phone back to stock once again..... my main question is can someone please help me make it to where pdroid works on my phone lol

[Q] com.motorola.home Force Close Problem

Hi
Lets start like this. I have Motorola Atrix 4g, Till this point, more then a year, I've don't have any troubles with him. It's not rooted and have the official software 2.3.4. The phone gets Force Close on "com.motorola.home" app and what I've learn from 6-7h. In the web this problem is from Google search update. When I turn my Atrix on it stuck on Lock screen and I can't do anything (The tuchscreen is working, because when I call my phone I can answer it)
When I connect it to the PC I can open my SD Card and.. Copy paste files..
From what I've read in the web I need to Restore my smartphone.
Here it comes the little big problem: I don't have backup for my contacts or anything else... And because I've using Motorolas contacts, not the Google (HUGE MISTAKE ON MY SIDE) and now I will lose them
The Q is
Is it there a program for PC which can transfer my contacts from the SD Card and put them on the PC.
And yes of course if you have idea how to make the really big problem to go away I will be thankful for ever
So I can do nothing on the phone and need to get backup my contacts...
I hope I don't Bore you alot whit my big thread, but I thing is good to provide more information
I'm Really Really Really Really Sorry for my bad English I just now start to learning it...
tnx
reinstall the sbf of your firmware and do a full wipe in data, this is something that went wrong when you updated.(or unlock and give you phone some sweet love. lol)
OR, try to install a new launcher using ADB.

Cricket Wireless Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH-I337Z)

I need help fixing what seems hopeless.
My Cricket Wireless Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH-I337Z) is the victim. I was the assailant. Aprox. 1 week after purchase I decided I'd attempt to install network tethering /w Mobile Hotspot which at&t and cricket had removed from their phones. Well the root procedure went well and now it was getting the tethering.provisions.apk into the system/ apps directory after renaming the existing apk and the odem files of the same name. Well, I tried dozens of times to copy paste, move, change permissions but no matter what I tried this file would not go into the systems/apps directory. Well out of impatience, frustration and of course ignorance I extracted the tethering.provisions.apk that I had downloaded. That is when the proverbial "poop" hit the fan. In a horrifying tenth of a second dozens upon dozens of error messages upon error messages skipping across the screen. All used the same syntax “Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped.” Only the process i.e. phone was replaced by other processes in the many other error messages. Finally it was down to 2 repetitive messages, that was the phone and messaging. Being rooted I was able to look and I notice that the entire /system/app folder was empty where there once was probably over 50 files along with sub folders. . . all gone. I quickly found I had no keyboard, no voice or Wi-Fi excetera excetera excetera. By now I am in a complete panic! I navigated to settings and observed that 90%+ of all that was missing as well. Being old school and with only touch screen control and no keyboard I'm crippled. I rebooted and attempted a hard recovery but recovery could find no files or folders with recovery data. Now what? You guessed it. I went out and bought a new phone. Not any phone but the exact same model. I believe I had it in mind that if I put these phones side by side somehow I could cut and paste the good phone content to the bad phone and all would be well. But then I realized I can't poop fairy dust. Well I'm on disability and I get $488.67 monthly along with $32 in food stamps. So now I'm broke. Started out that way really. But now I have a phone and a expensive" battery charger".
So this was nagging at me and I decided to look and see what this phone could do. Well it boots to the home screen. That's good! I can navigate anywhere there is anything that is also a good, but lack any input ability except pressing touch screen. It might connect to Wireless but I can't input the password so that’s an unknown.
Well I believe this phone is fix or repairable. Is there anyone that agrees? More important to me is there anybody out there that might be able to help me or walk me through this? I have some technical skills just not in wireless phones and my Linux is real rusty. Please if anyone can help reply or email me @ [email protected]
Need a PC and use Odin to get a recovery installed. Then use of PC to download a Cyanogen ROM and gapps, transfer those zip files to SD card and go from there. No need to throw out phone. Start with CM 11 ROM jfltexx unified variant which I know will work on the edge cricket S4.
Appreciate you taking the time to reply and give me the advice
That's pretty much what I'm goin to do.

You're sure that will work on the i337z? I have a friend with that phone who wants to do it.
Worked for me. Cricket i337z. Good luck. I ended up using CM 13 jfltexx and also used AICP jfltexx. Went back to CM didn't need the xtra bells and whistles.

Bypassing startup password

Hi, new here and I am hoping you guys can help me. I tried the sticky tread, but no response.
I have a problem and can't seem to find a solution.
Yesterday my phone had some problems with the camera and suggested to restart the phone. Did so, but now it is asking me for a password to startup the phone. I forgott my password and came to my last try. If I get it wrong this time, my phone will reset itself, deleting all the data. Is there a way to bypass this first password?
I am finding stuff about how to unlock a lockscreen (for example: https://android.imyfone.com/remove-screen-lock/unlock-motorola/), but I haven't even reached to that step yet, at least I think. Maybe I am seeing/understanding things wrong.
My phone is still the way it came out of the factory, so no rooting or USB debugging. It's a Motorola One, no idea which android version it is running on. I bought the phone in 2019, so I am guessing it's running on Pie or higher, if possible Sorry, I am a true newbie at this.
From the Netherlands, sorry for any typos..
Please help!
This may come over as if I am trying to use someone elses phone, but it is mine. I can prove it. I have proof in the form of an invoice. I will show it if needed.
Please, there are photo's and other personal data on the phone. I don't want to lose it unless I have no choice. Maybe somebody knows a way how to get my personal data copied to the computer? Then I can perform a hard reset. Please help me..
salam aleikum,
we both seem to have the same problem.
my phone is not from factory, but from a Basar.
It looks absolutely new, no scratch.
But when i started it first 2 weeks ago, i could not even get past start menu.
It has a "Lock Pattern" and it is still registered with someone. But obiously it is used before, it came without Box or Manual.
Ive tried hours and days to get it to work.
But all i can find is people on youtube that bypass the password, but for me it doesnt work. I have no idea what Android version it is running, but the Glitches that i found where people go from "foreign keyboards" to "Feedback" into Chrome and appstore dont work.
I can not return it, do i only have expensive Trash now or Is it Possible to Install AndroidOS again and overwrite?
I tried factory reset and know now how to go into the BIOS.
I have never done any Modifications or Rooting to any phone, im okay with computers.
But from reading here it seems I have to know exactly what version my phone is on or its possible to break it completely.....
I saw the Bios_Menu "install from disk"
So i guess if i get the right version an a memorycard maybe i can do like a windows or linux "format/c" an have a fresh start?
I dont have money for a new phone, curretly i still have a wiko lenny 2 but the display is broken an i can only use half of the keyboard.
Always need to turn the screen and every message or google search takes one hour.
Please just tell me YES or NO
i will learn it myself but now im really frustrate by this.
EDIT: Through the keyboards i managed to get to feedback section and found this infos:
Package Version: 26751214
Package Version Name: 7.5.12.211120031release arm 64 v8a
Adnd some others
