Problems Need Serious Help on - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I got some series of questions regarding My new Xperia S for which i would be very great full if answered..
I will directly get down with the questions..
1. Some days back my Xperia-S stopped snycronizing with my pc, Pc companion will detect my phone just as an phone but stopped accessing it's internal memory. Did some research and found no help. Even SEUS update wont update my phone n alwayz threw an error saying "My phone has modified app in it so it cant be updated"

ADDTIONAL :
1. There is no recent WMP update for Windows 7 ( as some suggested)
2. Unistalling/Reinstalling PCC ..Enabling/Disabling USB debugg from phone and then clearing up MTApp/Force close, doesnt work.

What i found? : Through this forum search i found that this problem occurs if you have your Bootloader Unlocked or if your phone is Rooted. Searched on with the service number ( *#*#7378423#*#*) and Bootloader Unlock says "YES"
Q: Does it mean that my Bootloader is Locked or Unlocked? If locked then how come i cant access to SEUS for general update or how come PC COMPANION wont recognize my phone?
P.S : Thanks to Napster, Rogro and DoomLord for this great app -- SD CARD MOUNTER FOR XPERIA S

2. After i found out that i have root access to my phone (Found it out when i hooked my phone to flashtool ..yeah! m a noob!) i found out that i can manually update my phone by downloading stock roms. Hope am right on this one. Questions are..
a. My Xperia came with .73 Firmware. Do i need to update .75 before i can update it to .76 and so on? And whats the difference between Rooted/Pre-rooted/TW and NL?? Coz i dont think .76 firmwire has any generic ftf file on xda server :S
b. Can i update any ROMS on my Phone? As in ICS got Generic DE, NL and so on .. Need to know the differences too.
c. What is the difference between Custom ROMS and Stock ROMS?
d.My Rooting status still says that i have my Bootloader Locked .. it says YES (It does mean that my bootloader is locked right??) Do i need to Unlock my bootloader to update firmwires and stock roms through flashtool? Or should i just let it be?
Please do let me know..
Thank You
Regards
Ashique From Bangladesh

So long...
Don't need to unlock your boatloader if you want to flash stock only.
For other ROMs, you should. Only for miui you don't have to.
I advise you strongly to read the all you need to know post in development...

Through the picture you have been posted, I have a feeling that u've unlocked bootloader! And *#*#7378423#*#* said Allow bootloader unlock= yes: doesn't state that u've either unlocked or locked bootloader but it does tell you that u're able to unlock your bootloader! Once u've unlocked it, ur phone won't sync with ur pc, that's the reason why i've said that u've unlocked bootloader! To gain access to PCC or SUS again u must relock ur bootloader! To use flashtool u don't have to unlock ur bootloader if u want to update with official .tft., but u can't flash any custom kernels. Finally u can skip any updates if you want either on Official PCC or flashtool! Hope this would help!

Thanks for the updates and about the bootloader well i guess its unlocked. Though i face new problem, which is, i had root access before i upgraded my firware to .76 TW. Can you tell me how i can gain back my root access with .76TW STOCK firware? Cant use titanium or busybox anymore

If u want to gain back ur root access u need to flash custom kernel if u've unlocked bootloader! I suggest using Advance stock kernel v11 as it's more like stock kernel!

I had this phone from thailand. The bootloader was already unlocked and had a firware .73 of GB. I also had my root access back then. But today i downloaded the .76TW firmwire from Xda File server n flashboot it to my Xperia. The phone is running perfectly fine though i lost my root access but the bootloader is still unlocked. And yeah its still running GB 2.3.7 just with .76 firware with no root access anymore. Do i need to flash it again with KA Xperia prerooted TW .76 firmware? I dont wana use the ICS as one of my friend updated his Xperia S with ICS n now he cries every now and then .. Anywayz, Heres the screenshot with .76 firmware running GB 2.3.7

If you just want to root your stock .76 TW firmware, here is what i would do:
- download the advanced stock kernel (GB) by DooMLord
- connect the phone to pc via fastboot mode (i.e turn off and then connect the phone to pc via usb with vol. up key pressed)
- flash the advanced stock kernel using fastboot command
- switch on the phone an wait for some time
- then extract kernel.sin from the .76 ftf and flash it using flashtool or fastboot command.
If you follow these steps, then you should have a stock .76TW firmware with full root acess! good luck :good:!

Thanks for the quick reponse but I am even more confused now. I thought in order to flash the fimware I had to be on build 4.0.A.2.368.
Is that not the case?
Thanks
Are the rooting instructins (and unlocking bootloader) ONLY for Mini Pro or will they also work on Mini?

I think i may have casued too much confusion.
Let me start at the begining.
I am on build 4.0.A.2.364.
According to the posts at start, if I want to use the ROM then I need to be on 4.0.A.2.368.
Questions;
1) Do I need to be on 4.0.A.2.368 to use the aforementioned ROM?
2) If yes then how do I get to 4.0.A.2.368 as the first article says I need to be on 4.0.A.2.368 to use the firmware. If this is the firmware that gets me to 4.0.A.2.368 then Im going round and round in circle - e.g. im not on 4.0.A.2.368 but cant get to it as I need to be on it in order to flash the firmware
Hope that makes sense

ok somethign to clear up confusion:
1) this is not a ROM
2) this is a Original (untouched) SE Firmware (FW)
3) this thread gives u 2 options

- (b) if u want u can root this FW (using boot.img provided)
to get to latest FW u need to flash the FTF (link in 1st post) using FLASHTOOL...

Thank you. Makes perfect sense.
I used Flashtools 3.0 to flash the firmware for STi15 (Mini). Went through the process and at end states I need to turn on phone, activate debug mode and unknown sources. So far so good. Once this is done Flastool shows choice of two devices that mine should (Mini Pro (SK17) and X10 ) It did not show Xperia Mini.
I checked the devices folder and found one for Sk17i and one X10. There is no folder for STi15 (Xperia Mini).
When I checked my build number it says 4.0.a.2.368 (was previously 364).
Does this mean flashtool has worked?
Can I now continue with Root process?
Thanks
Edited as follows:
Flashtools wont root it as it doesnt recognise the device. I believe I need to create a folder for STi15 and put appropriate files in there. What are these files? Do I need to edit any of them?
Superoneclick got to 'Rooting device Step#5' and just sat there for about 15 minutes before I disconnected it.
Edited again:
After disconnecting it went to step 6 and 7. I reconnected device and it said Busybox not installed - install it?
I selected Yes.
Completed and said device rooted.
I rebooted, ran Superuser, installed Root Explorer, Ran Root explorer, got the prompt from superuser for permissions. Granted permissions and it seems I have root access
Hi everybody!
Is there a way to find out if i have an unlocked bootloader or not?
I have the right firmware version in my Mini and i really want to root it!!
Can you easily reverse it to stock condition for guaranty reasons?
Thanks!!

hm.. but update service will give him .62 not .42, right? or are you thinking on making prerooted image? hm now i got idea
@ prazadx: are you willing to do clean flash with pc companion or sony update service, then we'll instruct you how to make .62 .ftf, but it will be around 150MB after you zip it, wich you would need to upload..
then if your phone is sim-lock free your fastboot should be open, and it should accept prerooted .img.
even if your bootloader is locked i think it only matter for kernels.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong
its here mate
Just flash this with flashtool (extract using winzip or eqivalent first to get the ftf), root using flashtool, update OTR, install cmw and you are fine.

I'm gonna perform this flashing with flashtool. all i need is to downgrade my current firmware to .42, so that i can root my device. also this is a sim lock free device with a locked bootloader.
is there any other way to root without downgrading??
also, thanks mate..
There are another way to root but you need to unlock your bootloader, sorry I cant put links, but if you search right here in this Forum "unlock bootloader" you would see the options to do that.
Definitly this way is the only you have without unlockink bl. Thats all the peoplo say because I cant flash .42 on mine....flashtool stop always before 100% I will format pc...i dont know what other thing can be.

You are able to flash custome kernels as long as you have unlocked bootloader, if you relock it youll only be able to flash stock kernels via flashtool, correct me someone if I'm wrong

If you relock your bootloader after flashing stock rom (which I think is neccessary for updating to official ics BUT I'm not sure) you need to unlock it again and then you'll be able to flash new kernels.

But you need not lock your bootloader. You can download flashtool and then flash the ftf files that you will get here in XdA as soon as the update is released. So that way your bootloader remains unlocked, and yet you will be running 4.0.4.

Agree. relocking is neccessary for OTA updates & since ICS wouldn't be over the air so you don't need to relock your bootloader. But I prefer to keep my bootloader locked when I'm on stock rom because there might be some OTA updates in the future

But I think once you relock your bootloader that doesn't matter which way you did unlock it & either way works to update the phone. Am I right?

FINALLY !!! Unlock Bootloader on Arc/Neo/Neo V after 12w14 !!!! EASY AS 1,2,3 :)

Hey guys,
I wanted to share a great method to harmlessly unlock the bootloader on Neo and Neo V which works on every device (before and after 12w14). Simply follow this steps:
EDIT: Use it over GB firmware, or flash ICS kernel after using this fix if You are on ICS and want to keep it, otherwise You will get bootloops!!!!
1. download this program:
http://www.2shared.com/file/xfkXTzdB/ZeroPercentFixTool.html
2. Register Your IMEI number on this site:
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
and let the code be sent to You by Sony Ericsson to your e-mail.
3. Then open zeropercentfixtool.exe (remember to have all the drivers installed)
4. Copy the code into the program, click fix it and connect the phoine in fastboot mode.
5 After that it is better to desconnect the phone, and flash ICS kernel, than all should work perfectly
Voilla, done
You finally have unlocked the newer versions of xperia Neo/Neo V ))
PS. nevermind that the program says zero percent fix tool, it unlocks the bootloader as well. Tried on my Neo V 12w9 and 12w31 and it's working like a charm
Hope You enjoy it !

im using xperia neo -v!!! and what is the buttons for going into fast-boot in xperia neo-v?
i always press the most right button and then hook the usb cable .no need to press power on button all right?
and i don't have to root my phone first .. another problem which i haven't even started,
Did u install flashtool drivers? Be sure to select ur device and fastboot as well as flashmode drivers. Nd I thinks theres no need of root in it. The menu button is fastboot button. Hold it nd connect ur phone to pc via usb. Reject the pc companion prompt. And follow to OP. Nd if ur on ics keep an ics kernel with u.
If I helped pls press thanks

Alright, I'd like to clear something now. If I lose my DRM files, what exactly do I have to my disadvantage? Also, if I unlock my bootloader using this technique, can I lock it back? If yes, how and then after I've locked it back, can I get to the latest original firmware from Sony using SEUS/PCC?

If BL unlocked officially, warrenty is VOID, no more official updates and DRM is lost.
U lose DRM for ever if BL is unlocked by official method. TrackID app willnot work.. this is what i have in my knowledge.
I never minded in unlocking it.. since i dont use it.
If you know what you are doing, then no problem at all.. so i unlocked BL officially.(no option,, manufactured 12w14)
If unlocked by unofficial method, then u can relock it.. search in the forum to gain more knowledge..
What would happen if I unlock my bootloader officially and mess while flashing ROM? I know about phones being brick, but have no idea of what is a soft brick and a hard brick. Someone to enlighten me?

You're right
Sorry for no responses, I was away.
To clear this, You need flastool and fastboot drivers, they can be found in flashtool folder for example. For fastboot drivers, You can try to download them (use google or XDA search) connect Your phone in fastboot mode( blue LED) and manually point them for windows to install.
As for ics kernel, the best way is to complete this fix in fasboot, reconnect the cable, then flash ics kernel and that's all

Xperia P 22i: network + 3G problems after rooting

Hi,
I (rty'd) Rooted this device by thise Rooting method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
[Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v31]
In the menu - i chose 3 while it looks like i had to pick 1.
Since them:
1) People told me that phone is off.
2) Calls are just hang off (not by me or by the anyone else).
3) 3G problems.
I tried to find the restore file by this guide: http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2013/Jun/115
But i didn't find anything (is it make sence? or maybe bc's the Root procedure didn;t succeed ... i dont have the backup file?
Is there any way to get the factory rom+factory bootloader and cetera , for flash them to the device?
Please - need your "heavy tools" help here...:fingers-crossed:
Thank you very much!

O.k...so it should be:
1. Unroot...let the tool do the process...
2. Option 1...let it do the process and finish.
What is the chanse that this process can overwrite the files system (b.l, radio, rom...) and resolve the problem?

Do u know if i will flash a fresh stock rom with the Flashtool - it could make a fresh rom, overwrite files?
What is the right ROM STOCK for the Xperia P? Afraid to flash a wrong file/s.
Thank you.

Only sucseed unlocking the bootloader.
I tried also to change the kernal (read it on another guide) but it just wasnt helpful.
I think that the solution will be ONLY by flashing the factory rom + factory kernel by the flashtool.
The question is how can i find the right factory rom?
Have to say that i quait afraid that i will flash the wrong files...

I did not suggest to unlock the bootloader, I just asked, because PCC would not update unlocked bootloader.
Have you tried SUS? It won't update unlocjed BL either, and won't even begin to update, I had a message telling I have a modified FW and it cannot update, but PCC only fails after it download the files.
What error did you get in PCC?
"Factory rom" vary from country and service providers if it sold with a contract. Which ROM exactly do you need?
Which FW version do you have now?

Hi,
Good news...hope so
I canceled the Root in bootloader -> then updated the rom with the updating software of Sony and the process finished without any issues.
Till now it looks good...but w'll need to have more then 8 hours of use to know if it did resolved it.
But it looks like a good and maybe we could be optimistic:good:
Thanks so much for your helping desire - all along!
I your FW version is 6.2.A.1.100 and you wish to root use DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit it's easy and no brainer.
