Telus note ICS stock flashable kernel - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I got a Telus Note today, and of course first thing I do is try to root it. But I didn't read the directions well enough so wound up flashing a GB kernel and softbricking my phone.
I couldn't find a stock ICS kernel, so I downloaded a stock rom and extracted the kernel. If anyone needs it, here it is in an odin flashable tar so you don't have to download and flash 500megs of firmware...
(Hope this isn't in the wrong forum, if it is let me know and I'll move it)

Hello do you still have the original ROM or the link to it? I'd like to flash back to complete stock. Thanks!

[Q] With regards to the broodcomb thread...

First of all, this is the thread I'm referring to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233328
Am posting here because I don't have enough posts to reply to the thread. Really doesn't make sense that the forum requires 10 posts before I can reply there.
I'm really confused with all the links on the OP. The instructions aren't clear enough for a noob like me. Would appreciate any help here.
Basically I want the fastest/smoothest experience, so no TW for sure, and OC if possible. Am not really sure what deodex does for me so not sure if I need deodex or broodcomb...
So correct me if I'm wrong here.. Never done this before so I'm just picturing it in my head(getting my tab tomorrow so just wanna make sure I get things right) this is how I should do it..
1. I will need to download this and install through odin no matter what... Hmm what does CSC: CPW and XEU mean anyway?
Stock Rom [ODIN] special for XDA Members only ( CSC: CPW and XEU )
2. This is where I get lost. Do I choose between these 3? If yes, what's the differences between them? And where's broodcomb?
CWM KH7ROOT
Stock Deodexed Rom special for XDA Members only
CWM Rom by mabalito
3. Install the non tw update/ themes/etc..
4. where in all these do I fit in the installing of pershoot's kernel? Can OC be done only with pershoot kernel? Does 3G work with pershoot's kernel?
I appreciate any help you can give me. perhaps someone can do me a favour and post this up in the thread so that others can answer it.
Thanks
Ryan
any kind soul out there? I just need someone to help me copy paste my post over to the thread so that others can answer it.
I'm running the stock KH7 rom and it's much better then the KG9 that i had before.
As far as i know, there is no rom for p7500 that doesn't have Touchwiz. In that thread there is just a theme that looks like vanilla Honeycomb, so it doesn't give any performance boost.
Besically you need to install the stock KH7 first (using odin) and then install custom recovery if you want to root or use other modifications posted there.

I've got my tab now and have been messing with it for awhile without much success. I tried this...
1. reboot into cwm recovery
2. install deodexed stock rom via cwm
3. install cwm non-tw (from the thread)
and that resulted in a reboot-loop. So I can't go straight to cwm and have to install stock using ODIN first? okay help me out here a little, I'm still not sure what or where ODIN is...
okay I managed to get it to work after many tries. I used odin(which i think i didn't need to).. then installed the deodexed stock rom, pershoot's kernel, and non-tw..
Like i already said, first you need to install stock KH7 using odin.
Glad you got it working.

[Q] Back to custom rom from CM7

Is it possible to download back the old stock rom through ODIN and reinstall it on my ace? Or can I install it with CMW too from the SD card? Or is there some deleting and complexity involved in this backwards process?
Sure, you can instal any stock rom on your phone. Just have to have the firmware files. I just flashed back stock 2.3.4 after 7.1 CM BehradGH. And istaled BehradGH again I don't think u could instal any stock rom via CWM. Specialy the lower version u have.

Lmao nah bro it failed. I tried flashing it through ODIN and installing the stock 2.3.5 again and the phone was stuck in an endless boot. I got scared as hell and reflashed back to CM 7.1. I have no idea what happened though but everything is working fine. I guess I'll be sticking to CM7.
The reason I wanted to go back was because Heywire (txting app) was the only thing that stopped working after I flashed. I depend a lot on texting and I was thinking it'd go back if I went back to stock. I guess I'll have to try and find another alternative :/
Phone feels like a super phone though. LONG LIVE CM7!
Well, I'm not a developer or advenced user so I can't tell u the reason why you phone stuck in on boot. Today i was broke my CM7.1 Behrad and i could only go to download mode so i flash official 2.3.4 KPH and it's worked. Next i instaled CWM and BehradGH' rom again. Before useing BehradGH's rom i had Grif's KANG rom and after that i flash stock 2.3.4 to instal another CM7.1. It wasn't first time so I'm sure of that what i write here
Haha. I'm guessing we were both pretty lucky then. The first thing I did was to make sure I could boot into recovery. Then I reflashed CM7 from there. I'm still curious about the boot loop thing... I hope someone answers.
You need to flash a full package to not have a bootloop.

If u wer on cm7, then u should flash a full package bcoz cm7 converts ur system from rfs to ext. So wen u flash a full package, ur system is converted back to rfs.

You need to download something called a 5 file package, extract and then in Odin you deselect 'one package'. Generally for stock ROMs you select
OPS - cooper.ops
BOOT - APBOOT.......tar.md5
PHONE - MODEM......tar.md5
PDA - CODE......tar.md5
CSC - CSC.......tar.md5

Oooohh that. I remember doing that once before when I was flashing stock roms on my ace. Can you provide a link to these 5 file downloads? Thanks *clicks*
It's not 5 downloads.
Sammobile.com, find the KPH file. I know it's confirmed to be a full package.
It seems samfirmware.com is not updated with latest firmwares. So u can try sammobile.com which is updated.

dunno about now, but a long time back when i was flashing stock KPN, samfirmware.com had a one file KPN, so i flashed a 5 file KPE and then the KPN...
I think KPN is supposed to be better than KPH which was a leaked ROM.

Hey!
I think you was flashed the ONE package file, but jeah, you need MULTI package file for ODIN, flash from CM to STOCK ROM.
Just read the FLASHING TUT. before flashing!
CHEERS!
To back to stock rom i always use Odin Didn't said i do this by recovery. And always use multi-file pack. Never "one package" - some1 said it is unstable... So go to Download Mode and flash ur Ace by useing Odin and multi-file rom (OPS, PDA, BOOT, PHONE, CSC)

I know how to flash stock roms. I've been doing so since 2.2. I'm talking about going from custom to stock xD. But thanks for the link anyways, saving it just in case

Unstable how? I've always used one packages for flashing stock roms and they've worked perfectly. Unless you're talking about the performance of the rom?

It's not unstable. You will only get boot problems flashing across android versions using one package files.

help flashing roms

Im new to the whole SGS2 so needed a little help ive rooted my Galaxy and its on UK 2.3.5 stock rom my question is can i flash any rom i choose or is it like when rooting it when i had to get a kernel that matched.
The other thing is, is it worth buying Odin Mobile.
Cheers
Once you root your phone and have CWM recovery and not the stock one you can flash any ROM you choose. It has nothing to do with kernels but each ROM is based on a firmware so you should match your firmware to a ROM based on the same to start with and if you choose to stay with the same ROM then there are non-wipe ROMs that can be flashed over top without worries.Just be sure you read properly the install/flash instructions. Some ROMs need Odin to be flashed but most just need to be pasted to your internal-SD and then flashed in recovery mode.Ill leave a link below to my ROM where there is an instruction guide so you can read it to see what I mean.

It depends on how you have rooted ...... if as mentioned above you have CWM (means you have flashed a custom/insecure stock kernel) just flash a ROM with CWM Recovery like any ZIP but i'd advise you to reset the phone before that .... since you are on Stock ROM which is Odexed and all custom ROMs are deodexed you might end up in a bootloop also may i suggest CheckROM as it is simple to install and highly customizable thus i recommend this as your first flash......

else i use this site it's pretty awesome to keep track of things

Cheers to both of you, i think i will give checkrom ago as theres that many to choose from and im new to the rooted SGS2.

[Q] Flashing back to stock

Hey guys
Sorry for the noob question but I want to double check something before I accidentally brick my phone.
I rooted my phone and flashed the Resurrection Remix ICS 9.7 rom and have had a play with it for a few days and want to go back to stock.
It's using a custom kernel and obviously custom rom.
To flash it back to stock using Odin, how do I get a stock official ICS kernel for an official ICS rom (such as one that you download directly from the Samsung server using CheckFus)? Also does anyone know of a guide that specifies exactly how to do this?
Thanks
You can extract the kernel (zImage) from the rom tarball you download via Checkfus with any program that allows you to work with tars (IZarc, 7Zip, WinRar, etc). No guide necessary, easy as. Open the tar file with said program, find the zImage, extract it. Done.

Need ROM to roll back to
Just got a i9100 with 2.3.4:
PDA:I9100XWKH4
Phone/Baseband (modem): I9100XXKH3
CSC: I9100OXXKH2
I don't find this rom on the roms page, and I understand I need it to be on my PC ready to flash with Odin, in case by flash to 2.3.6 doesn't work out (that's the only way to roll back, right?)
Where can I find this rom?
Thanks!

Galaxy s3 Nand write fail, softbricked. Can't get normal methods to fix it.

[SOLVED]
Hello! I have been rooting and flashing roms for a while now, and after sticking with a cm mod for a while i decided it was time for a change. I foolishly didn't back anything up and just flashed a rom to check it out. I have a Galaxy s3 19300 unlocked version (i have it on a plan for cricketwireless). I cannot get odin to work for me to flash a new custom rom, a stock rom, or even begin trying to flash. Odin either gives me the nanad write error or the program stops responding. I have samsung drivers installed and really need some help. I'd appreciate any help on getting me one step closer to a working phone. Thanks!

Try with a pit file and other version of odin.If it still persists then use cwm to flash touchwiz based rom.

yea its 16 gb just 11 gb available and 8 gb available after firmware its stupid but w/e. anyway i got it to work by formatting sd card which got rid of corrupted custom rom and made it just a normal stock bootloop so i flashed stock firmware for a random region and then cf auto rooted and flashed a custom rom. All good now but ty for the help i wouldnt have looked into pit files which led me to the stock file and made me try it. I guess if ur willing to format sd card it gets a lot easier.
not sure how to close a thread but i guess this should be good enough for now. [CLOSED]
