Hello
I want to ask:If i unlock the bootloader over sony, will i be able to restore the warranty by relocking?
test point method voids the warranty permanatly because you have to take the sticker off the testpoints, wich voids the warranty. So,can I return the warranty by relocking the bootloader, even tho i unlocked over SONYs website
Please help me...
EDIT:i unlocked the bootloader over xda rom hub, easiest way.i dont care if warranty void because i never broke a phone.

If u unlocked via the method that sony has provided, Relocking is the method that u can get warranty again. Honestly i unlocked via sony website too. Testpoint method will sure lose our warranty

Use official method . Tp Is extremely risky . You can always relock bootloader after official unlock.

I dont experience lags, but i hate that lots of the roms like PA,newer sony firmware,... need a unlocked bl.And i watch over my stuff.i had a lg p350,xperia x8 before, and i didnt even use the warranty once-never broke it

Then pls don't unlock bl. Trust me custom Roms even like cm9 have many bugs .. No xloud/WiFi and others. Better stay with stock.

root wt19i

hi
i just bought today the live with walkman,so my question is:
how to root it with the easiest method possible(i dont want to lose it)?my android version is 4.0.4 and last build 4.1.b.0.587
thanks in advance
a member with that score surely has to know how to root , anyway "EASIEST METHOD" unlock your bootloader and get a kernel that is prerooted , finish
dont want to unlock your bootloader you will do an easy long method, this > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707284 , hit thanks if i helped
Easiest method is to flash pre rooted kernel.
Sent from my WT19i using xda app-developers app
thanks bro but you know i just bought it and I used a samsung(very easy to use) after reading in sony's xda forum it's a little bit more difficult
and i think that unloking bootloader is a way better no?
and if i unlock the bootloader and a new update is available via sony pc companion can use it or is there any other method?

con you please give me the link for the last and better kernel
just for information i have a locked bootloader
and any others tricks for this phone would be nice
now that i want to unlock bootloader
i enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.

Sure.. If you want rooted stock then my recommendation is boot extended stock kernel ... Download here http://www.mediafire.com/?g94m9kgpsy0xe3v... For overclocking use rage kernel ...
There is already a thread on xda for installing custom kernel with locked bootloader..

If you somehow unlock bootloader then you'll not be eligible for OTA updates since DRM keys are lost ... ( Official way ) ... However there is a TEST POINT which preserves DRM but is tedious and way too risky..

I suggest you to not unlock the bootloader first and you should get use first with SONY devices and their application for development (like Flashtool,Sony Update Service,PC Companion,s1tool,etc.)
You can at least try to root your phone first (remember, once rooted, your warranty will be voided)

Yes you can root, but only with the downgrade/upgrade method. You have to downgrade to gingerbread, root and then Run local-prop, Update with "wipe data" unmarked and then Run push-root-files. Just Check out the tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695514

[Q] Advantages of Locked Bootloader

i was thinking to relock my bootloader. please help me to decide by giving me advantages of locked bootloader or the risk of using unlocked bootloader (or vice versa) thanks.
Locked bootloader doesn't have much advantages other than maybe your warranty will be back but still if you don't want warranty back you shud be stuck with unlocked bootloader.....

DRM keys are lost forever if unlocked by official method. Relocking will not help for officially unlocked bootloader. Do this only if you have to take your phone to Sony. Maybe it is different for testpoint method..

Warranty...... But I doubt you will get full warranty if you obtained the unlock code officially from Sony.. They register the request with your IMEI and void your warranty...But somewhere Sony mentioned to give conditional warranty, provided the device wasnt damaged with any mod you made "frying your processor by overclocking" ...Still its worth relocking if you claim warranty/service.. Apart from that, theres no big deal.

Then phone won't boot
This reply might be too late, but it might help someone else;
If you relock the bootloader after custom kernel, the phone won't boot. You'll have to flash the stock kernel after that to make the phone work.
This happened to me when recovering the TA partition which also locks the bootloader. It was an Xperia Acro S, but I think the same applies to all Sony ones.

[Q] just need an answer guys

Just want to ask guys if it's okay to unlock the bootloader using a custom rom?
Thanks for future answers
Hi,
I'm not sure to understand. You mean that tou want to unlock your bootloader by flashing a custom ROM ?
If so, it's not possible. Depending on your phone, you'll need to unlock your BL manually, via Sony's website or with "test-point method" (there may also be other methods).
If you mean that you want to unlock your phone using a "regular" method, while you're using a custom ROM compatible with locked BL, then I'd answer yes. But you may not be able to access the Sony "hidden" menu to check if it's successful.
Also, your post's title is not very explicit...
Thanks for the reply, but what I mean is I am using custom rom right now with a locked bootloader. And my question is, is it okay to unlock my bootloader even I am not on stock firmware?

Well first you need to know the uses of unlocking a bootloader and also its consequences.
By unlocking your phone's bootloader, you will be able to flash custom kernels to your phone with which you will also get the option of overclocking and underclocking your phone!
BUT
You will lose your warranty and the DRM keys will be lost.
So,if you think that it's great to unlock your bootloader and you don't care about the consequences,go ahead!
Enjoy your phone's true powers then!

[Q] Xperia U Bootloader Unlock

Guys...
I have a serious (not really serious, but kind of...) problem.
I got a Xperia U the other day. I've rooted it and flashed CWM 6.0.1.2... I really want to try CM11 on it. But the thing is that the bootloader is locked... and it seems that there's no way to unlock it since it says "Bootloader unlock allowed: NO".
So the thing is:
There's any way to unlock the bootloader? Maybe flashing a previous firmware?
Or can I flash a ROM via CWM without problems?
I've seen the procedure to unlock bootloader on Sony's page... If I do it (even when my phone says that bootloader unlock is denied)... will I break the phone?
Please answer this. I'm new and I can't post on dedicated forums
My firmware is 6.1.1.B.1.54 and I'm using 4.0.4 ICS
Please...
Someone?

SIM unlock and bootloader unlock are very different things. There's always a risk of soft bricking when installing, but nothing the original firmware, the flash tool, and about 10 minutes of time wouldn't fix.

You didn't read all of the thread then. Sony says you just have to have the phone have the bootloader unlock option say "Yes" in the settings. Nothing to do with the SIM lock or unlock. Plus none of the other Xperia phones that are bootloader unlockable I've seen or worked on require that, so would seem odd just for this one.
