X10 mini (E10) bootlooping after Rom flash - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hello guys,
I've got an X10mini (E10) (second hand but should not branded)
I'm actually stucked in a bootloop. It happened after I tried flashing the miniCM7 ROM with CWM.
I've tried the wipe data/factory reset frome CWM but nothing happened
I've tried the recovery option from my previous backup
Nothing
I've tried reflashing the Stock Rom (found in one of Xda-developers thread)
And I still got a bootloop (with the Sony Ericson logo)
Could anyone help me? =)

Why don't you try a repair with SEUS or PC Companion, that will get you back to original.
You said you did wipe data/factory reset, but did you wipe cache and dalvick-cache too (second one in advanced menu in CWM), because they're filled with useless junk from your old ROM, causing many errors.

Disconnect your phone from your pc
Start PC Companion
Choose Support Zone
It will try to find an update for your phone, but since it's disconnected it can't
It will offer a Repair link
Follow the instructions from there.

I see, mine looks more like in the screenshot below
You've got an unlocked bootloader right?
I can get you an original SE Firmware to flash with flashtool if you're interested... just let me know...

Yeah I unlocked the bootloader with flashtool (the log said it was done properly)
And it would be nice to get the original SE firmware =D (I tried one and it didn't solve anything but still ... what choice do I got?)

You don't have much choice i suppose, i'll give you the download link in a pm
Just download it, put it in the firmwares subfolder where flashtool is installed and flash it to your phone, it will take a while because it flashes everything (kernel and rom), but i hope it will help you

I saw your thread.
I also have an x10 Mini and got stuck in a bootloop (colors swishing around on screen). I rooted, installed xrecovery - what shows up in the screen is cwm recovery v 5,0,2,8. I unlocked the boot loader, flashed this Kernel using flash tool (an older version): U20_nAa-14_2.6.29.6-nAa-14.ftf I tried to downloand nAa 11 but 14 kept coming up, so I put that in the firmware file along with the stock Kernel. I forgot to install the drivers, but the flash tool said it was successful. After disconnecting and starting the phone "Ana" words not the symbol came up and the boot loop began. Alternatively, on start up, I can get into cwm recovery. I didn't save the rom or google app zip on my sd card as I assumed I could that after flashing the Kernel, but the bootloop makes impossible
My goal is to install Android Fire 2.3.
I would really appreciate any guidance.

You should be able to access the sd-card from your pc now and copy the ROM and maybe Gapps.

I don't know, apparently it worked fine when you connected it to your pc...
Maybe you could pull all your files off the sd-card to your pc, boot into cwm and format the sd-card (in mounts and storage), then reboot into the rom.
If that's all successful, put the files back on your sd-card.

What would happen if I select "apply update from sd card". This is the second option under CWM recovery.
Should I restore from Nanadroid. i s this necessary?
Could partitioning the sd card help? Thanks again!

The 'Apply Update.zip' does exactly the same thing as the 'Install zip from sd-card', but the first option only works for zip-files named 'update.zip' in the root of your sd-card, the second option will let you browse the sd-card and select a zip-file with any name. The second option is the one you use to install your ROM.
Restoring from nandroid, just fills your internal phone-memory with the old stuff you had in there, it won't affect your sd-card, other than that it reads the nandroid from that sd-card.
Your sd-card needs to be formatted with the fat-filesystem to work properly, so partitioning or not makes not much of a difference, only that the available space for your stuff (music, photo's, etc.) is less because the other partitions take up space too.
If you can flash your ROM in CWM from sd-card I don't really see any problem with your sd-card.

worked like a charm. many thanks!

Problem installing new rom

Hi first I want to say that i'm not a noob, I already rooted my streak, installed streakdroid, power rom and longhorn 2.2 (currently using). my problem is, I want to update to longhorn 2.5, so I downloaded the zip put it on root of sd, reboot in recovery, update from zip and the setup stop right after the ''opening package'' and I get back to the top menu in recovery. I tried with an other rom and I still have the same problem... any idea on what i'm doing wrong?
Thanks!
pull the SD card and mount in a PC card adapter and do a scandisk on it.
Reflash streakmod recovery
try another recovery. i wonder what yo did to install longhorn 2.2?

actually that's the reason of my question, I flashed several rom and now I can't... weird.. but I'll try scanning my SD
Did the scan nothing has changed...
It may be that you need to copy all of the contents of your SD card to another location (backup) then re-Format the SD card. after it is reformatted, copy back the files and try again. I have had to Format my SD card a few times to keep it running smoothly.
yeah well i'm really stock right now I flashed my sd and even tried on an other one and it still doesn't work... it still stop after the opening package..
if it can help I filmed the steps from recovery to show where it freeze. and yes the screen is reversed but you can clearly see that it does not upgrade to longhorn 2.5 (a the end you see that i'm still on 2.2 v1)
http://youtu.be/SvpG1SKhE40
Whats your ROM version?
I have tryed to run Longhorn 2.5 under ROM 406 but it doesnt started up even after factory reset ... so I flashed it to 407 and wiped dalvik cash, reflashed Longhorn and it works pretty fine
Or
You might use Streakflesh to fully flash your device to the standart ROM as it was before, and then download ROM 407, amss and dsp files, and flash them using fastboot.
Well its all what i have done to get my streak work with Longhorn 2.5 hope it will help u2

for the second part I want to know, the standart rom I just need to look for a dell rom 2.2 flash it with fastboot then reflash with 407, amss and dsp? is there any specific amss and dsp file I should get since I already flashed those recommanded for streakdroid (I think DJSteve did them)
ps: thanks for also answering my last resort thread
ok I'm really stock... downgraded to original rom on 2.2.1 re-did everything after the opening package nothing works... is it possible to install a costum rom with fasboot only?

Finally I ended up being able to flash a custom rom again. I did a factory recovery and get back to rogers android 2.2 FW, flashed streakmod and installed olleh, did a factory reset from phone menu, put custom rom on sd, reflashed streakmod along with amss dsp1 and finally update from zip on sd in recovery and voila it worked.. weird but anyway I'm happy it's working now!

Hi,
I have an issue installing Longhorn 2.8.
My knowledge is limited to use of flashboot, and installing 407 Olleh.
I have this Olleh, and then installed Streakmod recovery (0.3.8), rooted with superuser.zip, made nandroid backups, and tried to follow: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355878
(where I can't post...)
what I get is: [
(...)
Opening update package Longhorn_2.8.zip
E: Can't open /sdcard/Longhorn_2.8.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted
]
I tried "wipe data/ factory reset", also the factory reset (after a reboot), wipe cache partition, wipe dalbik cache, fixed premissions
still the same result
Could it be due to limited space (200MB) left on SD card (4GB size)?
in this case how do I remove old nandroid backups?
thanks

Softbrick Xperia X10 mini pro

So I have a Xperia X10 mini pro.
I have rooted it, unlocked the bootloader and flashed the nAa kernel.
I am now stuck in a bootloop, can't use the custom CWM-recovery from nAa to mount the sdcard (can't mound /media/sdcard).
I can't enter fastboot, either by the volume up + usb method or from Fastboot Toolbox.
10/047/2012 13:47:21 - INFO - Device Status: ADB mode
10/047/2012 13:47:23 - ERROR - This action can be done only if the connected phone has fastboot mode
ADB seems to work fine.
It looks like I am missing a lot of files in /system/bin and so on. Any firmware image I can flash or any other ideas?
Thanks for all the help!
You should try reflashing the kernel
If you have problems mounting the sdcard you should format it, don't forget to make a backup of everything in it, i just had a similar problem and this solved it

Try reflashing with SEUS (video, youtube) "watch?v=t6QhJaCsdD4&feature=plcp" by the user Xminicyanogen, titled "Restoring an X10 Mini Pro with SEUS" or you could also use PC Companion, should restore stock rom and kernel.
Thank you for the answers.
1. I did reflash with different kernels.
2. The SD card looks ok, I got general problems mounting anything in the FS
3. I will check out PC Companion and SEUS, thank you.

Try to follow the instructions for Xperia X10 Mini Pro (U20, mimmi) and NOT the ones for Xperia Mini Pro ( which is a newer, and altogether different device). Fastboot is NOT supported on the U20, so there's no use in searching for it or trying to make it work. For the X10 Mini Pro we use Flashtool, and not Fastboot toolbox. And if you only flash a kernel to the phone, ofcourse you get stuck in a bootloop, you will need to install a corresponding ROM through CWM in order to make it work properly, and this does not require you to mount the sd-card at all, If you forgot to copy the ROM to it before you flashed the kernel, use mount USB-storage which will connect it to your PC through USB as a flashdrive.
I suggest Repairing using PC Companion, and then start again, by using flashtool and the proper tutorials for your phone-model.

Yes, mounting USB storage will not work also, I receive the error: "Unable to write to ums lunfile (no such file or directory)"
If it's back to default stock rom and stock kernel, perhaps try MiniCM7Pro v21? That runs on the stock kernel (so no need to reflash your kernel) and has a very clear installation thread. Always threat the requirements as if they were the checklist for a rocket launch, read through them at least three or four times, don't skip anything and if something doesn't match => ABORT. A lot of this information is on your phone, in the "About the phone" section. Learning the codenames for each device might also help (Xperia X10 Mini Pro == U20 == mimmi), filenames containing other codenames should always raise a red flag. If you can't parse what the file is supposed to do, better ask before flashing.
Happy Flashing!

I'd do first things first and reflash through PC Companion/SEUS. And then later see whether or not you can regain access to your sd-card.
SEUS tells me that "Your phone already has the latest available software installed"
and PC Companion (repair function) tells me that "there is no software available for your phone"
It might be due to the wrong version of the kernel being reported? Or is there a way to trick one of the above to overwrite the current software?
Looks like I had to use a different kernel and SUES did the repair.
Thanks again all for your help!
Edit: And back to square one. Started fresh and stuck at the same problem. Unable to mount sd card or usb.
Edit2: It looks like a problem with the nAa kernel and the recovery it has. Stock CWM works ok.

Redownload the kernel, and make sure you have the right one for your phone, it usually comes with a better/newer CWM-version than the one you can install on stock.
Since you are talking about fastboot in your opening post, i think you're following instructions for the Mini Pro (2011) instead of the X10 Mini Pro (2010), Find the kernel for your phone in the X10MiniPro Development section in this part of the forum.

I am following instructions for the U20, which is correct. I am using the [KERNEL] nAa-13 [1/7/12] Custom Gingerbread kernel + CWM Recovery by nobodyAtall
What I did now:
1. Return to stock
2. Install CWM
3. Install one of the MiniCM7 (don't remember which one) rom
4. Flash nAa kernel
5. Go to recovery, wipe.
Phone boots, CM7 is working. I can't use recovery to mount usb/flash still (which would be useful for backup and/or gapps install). "Clean" CWM works fine. I agree it might be an issue with an old CWM (which is v5.0.2.8)
I will proceed to check the nAa ICS kernel + ICS ROM.
On a side not - gosh, the phone works nicely on GB. My Defy feels slower than this (probably due to the higher res). The one drawback is that I feel like a giant...

You don't have to mount your sd-card to install gapps or do a backup, they will use the sd-card, no problem other action needed for that. Did you redownload the kernel, it may be corrupted somehow.
And yes, nAa-kernel and MiniCM is a bit of a speed-demon, I used to run it on 480Mhz maximum and it was still faster than stock rom. Don't expect that kind of performance on MiniCM9/ICS though, it's still got some problems to sort out.

Sorry, I don't understand you.
From what level should I do it? If I try to access anything SDcard related in recovery I get kicked out with the mount error (including backup).
I guess I need to change to a different recovery while still running nAa kernel.

CWM Recovery is built into the nAa-kernel itself, you can't change it for a different one as far as I'm aware.
You could download the kernel again, to rule out possible corruption, and if that doesn't help, find a way to do a re-format of your sd-card and see if that fixes the problems.
I think i have to insist, try formating your sdcard, even if it looks ok, backup everything in your sdcard, then format it, you have nothing to lose, just try it

Then it becomes more likely that the CWM on the newer kernel isn't able to read from the SD-card. I'd suggest the nAa-ICS-04, in combination with MiniCM9. Like SmG67 said, the ICS versions of MiniCM (MiniCM9) are still error-prone and might crash. But you could try it just to see if the ICS-kernel (and embedded CWM) does play nice with the SD-card, then perhaps we'd be able to apply Occam's Razor.

I would apply this to a general incompatibility of nAa CWM and my U20.
I tried nAa-ICS-04 and had the same lack of results.
Once I get a few minutes, I will try other kernels.

Xperia go reboot problem

Hello today/tonight I tried to flash my Xperia go. I managed to unlock bootloader with no problem. But when I came to
the step where I should boot the img something went wrong. So I downloaded another rom and tried that boot.img. That one worked BUT I forgot to put the new rom on the phone. So now I'm stuck in recovery/fastboot or stuck on booting forever. When I tried to put on usb storage I only got the option to unmount sd nothing more and when I press it nothing happens.
Any idea how to fix this ?

Now we the same problem! I have a Sola.
@Thestupidnoob
If you have the firmware FTF file then flash only kernel.sin with flashtool (no wipes, exclude all others)
If you can enter CWM, clear dalvik cashe in CWM and shut it down before you flash the kernel.
@ChikeD
Hey thanks for the help ChikeD but I already solved it. I found a old phone so I switched my sd card to that one and then put the rom on the sdcard.
@jedts0357
So jedts ask a friend or something if they can borrow you a phone.

S2 stucked in boot after flash

Yo guys,
I got a S2 I-9100 and I flashed the new Siyah Kernel onto it via Heimdall. The Problem is that if i boot it, the Samsung logo and the Siyah logo appears but afterwards the screen turns black.
Its propably not turned off cos I can't restart it without removing the battery.
Download and Recovery still works. I tried to use the wipe data/factory reset, but that didn't worked.. actually nothing happened.
Also tried to flash the Original Kernel (KF3) but the Phone gets stucked in boot on the Samsung logo..
Would be nice if someone could help me

You may have a problem with rom not supporting your kernel. Get formatted system, cache, data and put dorimanx latest kernel onto your phone via recovery. From this point you should be able to flash any CM rom you can get. If it still persist, go for odin and lastest Samsung Official

Neither one of them, just (bad)
well the only reason is that it didn't downloaded good, so redownload... or try with another sd card. or try to put the zip/rom in your internall sd. by going into recovery>format & mount>mount usb storage and now connect to your pc and drop the zip/rom into your sd card or internal sd :highfive:

Have fun ! I recommend you to get yourself USB jig and get onto WIP CM11 thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2523604
I think that dev needs some people to get everything tested, even though it's not even booting. But he shared a way to get log from the device at 7th page of the thread !

[Q] I messed up, no rom?!?!

Hello guys! I think I messed up big time.. I had just rooted my phone and was going to install my new rom (RomAur) from the sd-card (I followed a guide on youtube). Then I used dualrecovery to formate the phone before I installed then phone. But when I did this and my phone rebooted, then I couldn't enter dualrecovery or anything. And my phone is stuck on "SONY". So my guess is that i accidentally deleted my rom... What do I do? .... Im happy for any help I can get! :good:
MOD EDIT
Hi,
I have edited the title of your thread just to make it a bit more acceptable to all eyes. Also, I have deleted your comments about committing insurance fraud. We don't like to see that kind of thing on XDA
Thanks

Have you tryed flashtool and flash back to original state ?
When you formatted the system you deleted the recovery as its in that partition
I simple flash of a stock FTF with flashtool will fix it. Or you can force a repair using Pccompanion.
After that, root, install dual recovery and DO NOT FORMAT SYSTEM when you install the ROM.

No, I very rarely format system as when you install the rom it does that.
But what happened here was he formatted the system and then rebooted. Hence no system and no recovery anymore....
