Firmware I9300XXLFB backup - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

good morgning guys ,
i bought a S3 some days after lunch from my O2 provider.
one bad thing is, O2 uses a branded firmware.
i searched xda for threats with original firmwares, but i can´t find my version.
I want to use a custom firmware or try some one.
but i feel bedder, if i have my original version as backup.
that means all three files, csc, phone and pda.
at the moment i think about some roms like:
- CM9
- CM10
- Lite'ning ROM v1.0 - Fast as Lightning
So, i think the best kernel will be SiyahKernel S3 v1.5.1.
one solution will be to backup with titanum backup. i bought the licence, but this requires a rooted kernel, i don´t flashed yet.
I thougth about, but i want ti do it first, i have all 3 files at home.
can anyone help me?
greetz,

use this program to download your stock firmware.
root your phone with cf-root, flash cm9/10. test it out.
when you wanna go back to stock, use triangle away, wipe everything in CWM and flash your stock firmware back with odin.
If you get messaging app errors on boot (usually happens when you go back to stock from cm) you will need to flash your CSC in the corresponding section in Odin and wipe in stock recovery.

U can try a simple dirty trick to make cfroot works with any rom(or maybe just gingerbread) without loosing wifi capability. Rename ar6000.ko file in /system/wifi as ar6000.ko.bak using any filemanager that have root capability(obviously u need to be rooted before attempted this). Then get ur hands on ar6000.ko file from kpn and put it in the same folder as previous renamed ar6000.ko file, give it proper permission and flash cfroot b80. This trick works with zckpa china fw, so in theory it should work on other rom too. Btw dont shoot me if this doesnt work, im just helping

I kept my self really busy, let me tell ya what I did so far:
1- Flashed the new FW with Odin, things are smooth there nothing major.
2- Installed CWM 4.0.0.9, smooth and easy.
3- Installed CF-Room 3.7 b78 and then b80, had weird stuff going back there but it eventually worked, I lost the boot audio on the Samsung logo.
4- Installed EXT4 converter, no problem.
5- Started converting from RFS to EXT4. first time it finished converting but refused to boot correctly, I re-did all the above and started to convert again, now it refused to convert the /system, saying I don't have enough space for the restore, it kept failing here until I freed some space by using Titanium Backup and removed crapware, tried again and now I have EXT4 instead of RFS.
6- Enabled Apps2SD using the Tweak Manager DT: Auto Start.
7- Flashed the Apps2SD GUI, the phone rebooted a couple of times but it didn't install, couldn't see the icon of it.
And now, I must have some sleep! Good night ya all
i have gingerbread 2.3.4 on my ace so can i apply this rom
i get 1250 in quadrant without any mods . just after i flashed . amazing Rom .

CF-Root b80 already have this solution.
To install CF-Root to Gingerbread ROM: flash CF-Root recovery b79 using Samsung default recovery. Reboot into CWM recovery, flash CF-Root boot b80.
Indonesia offical Gingerbread update: DXKP9
If ketut is happy, then we all should be happy too, when do you think you can start working on it?
I so far had around 3 or 4 SOD's, not sure they're caused by the ROM it self or the stuff mentioned before that I installed on it, the ROM also randomly reboot it self while working, it crashed and rebooted while I was in the middle of a phone call :/, this only happened after installing the C-fr 7.3 b80.

If I were you, I'd use Kies to do the upgrade, you have the official ROM installed, why not use the official tool too?
If you don't care about the official tool then simply map each file type to the right section in Odin, you can still perform the upgrade without having the modem file.

[Q] Updating to KG5 via kies from 2.3.3 KF2

hello, i recently bought a SGS2 and i was just wondering, if i use kies to update the current XXKF2 kernel to the new KG5 one (also jumps from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 right?) will this process factory reset my phone? will i get to keep my current layout of apps and cellular operator settings or is it all gone?
oh, i forgot, is there an insecure KG5 kernel yet to root with?
Hi! I really dont know if it will reset the phone but if its just the kernel it should no change it. I would recommend you to do a nandroid backup (google) with clockwork. There should be an insecure kernel, after the backup update it. Then root it go into clockwork - advanced restore and restore ONLY DATA. This should work.
Note: if you need the insecure kernel please tell me the build version i'll provide a link.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Kies does not update a kernel its a full firmware update .
Kies updates do not normally wipe the phone but you should have a backup .
jje
Scratch that, kies is being stupid and wont connect to the server so i cant update this way anymore, but i guess i can still use odin, im just not sure what kernels to use for the update and what kernels to use for the root, there are so many threads about this, im just getting more and more confused lol.
im currently running:
baseband:XXKF2
Kernel:XXKF2
Build:XXKF2
i'd like to update to the latest root-able firmware,
so if you can provide me with the link need i will appreciate it,
from what i gathered i need to flash the updated stock files, then flash the insecure files, the reflash the updated stock to remove the yellow warning sign, i think.
thanks.

If you are doing this with odin your data will be wiped so a backup is needed.

[Q] How do I remove ClockworkMod Recovery from Galaxy S II?

Ok,
A few days ago I rooted my phone, but I didn't install any custom roms to it. Today I installed Rom Manager from Market and from there I installed ClockworkMod Recovery.
The only thing I cant figure out now is how to actually remove it again. I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227464, but doing what these guys says does not remove ClockworkMod Recovery from my Galaxy S II. I tried it three times now, and when I install Rom Manager from Market again it tells me that ClockworkMod Recovery is still installed (in top of the app after you start it.) I can even boot into it using the second choice in the app, without even touching to first one first.
Do I really have to flash the entire stock rom along with it's kernel to get ClockworkMod Recovery out of my way? I cant really find out anything about how to remove it from Galaxy S II, but I it would be great to know how to remove it just in case the phone ever need's a trip to the hospital.
This is the first time I'm playing around with S II, and I'm not very good at these things. Would be great if someone could help me out here.
Flash a stock kernel or another kernel?

If the plan is to send it back you the shop you would need to flash a whole stock ROM with Odin
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Method depends on which model you have as the firmware you need to flash will be different
International or American seems to make a big difference. If you have an american model then maybe listing the carrier would help as well.
I tried to flash a stock kernel @nikzDHD, that was the content of the link I had in my first post. Didn't work. =(
Crap. I was hoping I didn't have to flash a stock rom since I'm already running it, but if that's the only way to get ClockworkMod Recovery out of my way I guess I'll just have to get it done.
The phone was bought in Norway, Europe and it isn't locked in any way. I flashed the kernel with Odin, so I would guess I could flash the rom with it as well? Is there any guides on how to flash a rom for the first time to Galaxy SII?
Thanks
I found this thread with stock roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 , but I'm not sure witch to choose.
My phone says after *#1234#:
PDA: XWKI8
PHONE: XXKI4
CSC: OXXKI2
Can anyone please tell me what rom to choose?
Edit:
I just downloaded a file I found here: http://droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/09/i9100xwki4-android-234-samsung-galaxy.html. After extracting it I flashed it with Odin, and everything looked fine. That version var 2.4 and I used Kies to update to 2.5, everything working great.
Now, the only problem is that I'm still not getting rid of that ClockworkMod Recovery. It's seriously starting to piss me off, that ClockworkMod Recovery thing. What I did is quite simple. First I deleted cache from ClockworkMod Recovery, then factory reset, turned off phone and booted into Odin mode where I flashed the stock rom from Odin on my laptop. But why the heck is Rom Manager still telling me that ClockworkMod Recovery is on my phone? I can't really understand why this is just not going where I want it - Off my phone.
Last edit:
Found another rom somewhere out there, flashed it, same result. The only thing is, Rom Manager is showing that cwm still is installed, but when I click the button to reboot into it, it just show some kind of error-message. I guess that's good enough for me, all tho I can't understand why that Rom manager app is telling me that it's actually there. :S
Happy new year!

Hi,
I also would like to remove completely clockworkmod and unroot my phone, I have searched and what comes to my knowledge so far is that I have to flash the firmware (the 200+MB file?) from phone (recovery mode, i would prefer this way as it seems really easy), flash stock kernel and reset counter using USB Jig (found on eBay or any other online electronic market).
I would just like to confirm if these are the steps to do a complete HARD reset (exactly like bought fresh from shop), not the reset set by phone itself.
PHONE TECH INFO:
BASEBAND VERSION:
i9100XXKI1
KERNEL:
(STOCK)
2.6.35*XWKI4
T-MOBILE -- UK
I only want to UNROOT and REMOVE CLOCKWORKMOD !!!
Thank you in advance !!
You'll be able to find your stock firmware on Sammobile.com. Search for it on there & follow whatever instructions they have for flashing firmware downloaded from there. Then do a factory reset, and if the flash counter in download mode is showing anything other than no/0, use the jig to reset same.

Thank you for your quick reply, but would it possible for you to give me detailed instructions on how to restore a phone to factory settings using Odin?
I have Odin, stock kernel, soon a USB Jig and several files within the range of 270MB and 300MB, they are:
GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWKI4_I9100XEUKH2_I9100XXKI1.7z
T-I9100_XEU_I9100XWKI4_I9100XEUKH2_I9100XXKI1.7z
I9100XWKI4_I9100OXXKI2_I9100XXKI1.rar
I really want to UNROOT my phone and REMOVE CLOCKWORKMOD.
The instructions that you said to me in your post, in response to mine, made me even more confused.
Thank you in Advance !
Flash stock rom and ready!
I would like to know if this method worked for anyone and was the phone really turned back to the factory conditions or not
I am new to this and thinking of flashing a custom ROM trying to understand the consequences before i actually do the update.
Appointments are available
ROM Manager is NOT compatible with CWM. It f*cked up my phone before. It somehow gives you two recovery images. For example, going to recovery mode from ROM Manager will take you to its personal CWM Recovery Image. But if you go to Recovery Image manually (Volume Up + Menu + Home), you will also be taken to a different CWM Recovery (the one you got by installing CF Root or a custom ROM with CWM Recovery... I know these based on experience. So what I do is that I only use ROM Manager for downloading stuff. And manually go to CWM Recovery (or use CWM Manager app) for backing up and restoring ROMs.
Unfortunately, I don't think you can remove CWM Recovery without getting rid of root. Some form of custom recovery always comes with a rooted device.

Detailed instructions for removing ClockworkMod - Help
Hello All,
I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S II (Sprint) right after I got it in 2011. Recently I upgraded to the SGIII so I want to remove my ClockworkMod and restore to Factory so I can sell the phone.
I've seen some instructions like "Flash with Stock ROM". I agree with others... sorry but that info just confuses me more.
Can anyone provide instructions? Clear, simple instructions? I tried finding stock firmware at SamMobile but I had no luck. How do I find the stock ROM for MY phone..a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S II? How do I know if it is a P3100 or other?
Then ...once I have the Stock ROM, how do I "flash" it..what else do I need?
Then..steps to follow.
If you don't have time, do not reply. Like I said, "flash with Stock ROM" doesn't help me. If you can provide the info and steps, I'll be eternally grateful.
When I start up my phone and press Volume Up, I get the ClockWorkMod Recovery v5.0.2.7 screen. Does that mean my phone is still rooted? If so, how do I remove the CM Recovery?
Thank you,
Ken Arcia

PS: none of the experts here could extract and make a flashable stock recovery installer, as a sample if not for each stock version?

Phone not turning on after factory reset

Hi all,
I've been having a few issues with my S2 (Randomly resetting, freezing, etc) - so I decided to do a factory reset - but it hasn't worked.
When I turn my phone on, it wont go past the galaxy logo. I've tried holding down VOLUME UP, POWER, and HOME - but it doesn't boot it into recovery mode.
I've downloaded odin (the phone is rooted) and was told to download a new ROM and then use the PDA button on odin. But the only file type it expects is MD5, tar and SMD. Whenever I download a ROM, I just get a ZIP?
I'm probably being stupid. Could someone point me in the right direction? I don't care if I lose data, I just want the phone working.

What ROM do you want to flash?
If it's a stock ROM, then extract the zip file and flash the contained tar/md5 file with Odin.
If it is a custom ROM and only provided as CWM-flashable zip file, then use a stock ROM to flash first and flash the custom ROM afterwards, when everything works again.
Here you can get the latest stock ROMs => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487, or pre-rooted stock ROMs from here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608071, or use Check Fus Downloader from here => http://fus.nanzen.se/ to check for the latest officiallly released firmware versions for your phone in your region and download it directly from Samsung servers.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I don't care which ROM I use - As long as I get the phone working again. I did download 7comp ROM but I couldn't find any .tar files?

OK - I've downloaded and installed the latest stock ROM you posted.

In that case flash any stock rom you like. I gather you'll be going back to a custom rom pretty quickly in any case (?) so it doesn't matter. Whatever you do tho, do not flash a PIT.

All I can do is download a rom which is in zip format, but i know odin does not support .zip but it supports .tar, so how can i download rom in .tar, also does it matter if I flashed the rom which is not meant for my region?(I mean I dont know my phone's PDA and I am not able to decide which firmware to download since every firmware has its own specific PDA)... Yes, I'll be going back again to custom rom after I make it work...haha
AFAIK a rom for another country wont break your phone, but be careful with 4.0.4 roms because of the brickbug

go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3 and choose the stock or even another stock rom you wish, download it.
Boot into download mode and flash the single .tar file through odin, flashing instructions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
PD: if the downloaded file is .zip and not .tar, just extract the zip and u'll get the .tar

He means don't do a wipe/factory reset from recovery while you're running that kernel. Once you switch to a custom kernel you can relax tho.

Parameter is incorrect error can be caused by either of two reasons
1 . something is wrong with the file you downloaded try re downloading
2.Kies is interfering with Odin, terminate Kies from the background by using the task manager.
Using GT - I9100
Just hit the damn help button if I helped you.
A lot of Thankx..
I wanna thank all of the members of the forum who have helped me in fixing my mobile. I finally fixed it by flashing the stock rom android 4.0.3, and it is doing perfect but laggs sometimes....:good:
