Whats the lowest battery drain you can get ? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can get like 1-2% / hour according to batterypromonitor but according to my friends their sgs3 drains like 0.20% / hour, is this even possible? if i have 100% overnight and turn it on i usually have a little under 90% battery left, that is still good right? I just dont see how u can get under 1% drain with all usual settings turned off.

Often I charge before bed and when I wake up after 6 hours it's still on 100% because I think Samsung have fudged the battery metering after the instant 1% drop on earlier versions, so just going by mine 10% overnight is too much.

If i don't use the cell at all, i get like 0.90% / hour, on stock non rooted firmware, just 12 apps disabled, 2G only, no bluetooth or wifi.

2%/8h by night:
WiFi disabled, power saving mode
i9.0.1.3k galaxy imperator

What 12 apps exactly??
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

The battery drain depends on so many factors but as all the major options are disabled, than the battery drain depends on the signal coverage of the network... if your phone is getting low signal than it will consume more battery as the radio will keep hunting for the batter signal... I have tried to confirm by spending my might at 2 different places... in my house I get around 6 to 10% battery drain overnight while when I am at my office the battery drain is around 2 to 3% per 6 to 7 hours... as the signal in my office is better than at my house...

I get about 7-9% drain overnight which is like 8-9 hours for me....no apps running and wifi on

Overnight with GPS and WiFi and Mobile Data OFF .
between 1 and 2 percent drain .
Current with JB test roms and test settings /apks its about 10% .
jje

Maybe you could try go power and set to data off while screen off. This greatly increase your standby power.
And the Facebook apps seem costume a lot of battery even you disable all notification.
If you don't mind uninstall it will increase your standby power efficiency too.
I got around 1% battery decrease in 4 hourafter this 2 configuration. Before is nearly same to your case
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

Instead of facebook app... try to use FBM, it is available free. skype also uses more battery... you can try turning off when you are not connected to any network...

If I switch to Airplane and PowerSave I have less than 1% of drain on 12hrs.

I assume you are playing a lot wiht your new phone which drains battery because of the display. You should start tweaking display settings as xperia phones usually dont have auto brightness (dont know about Ray thou). Also get rid of that task killer but instead get memory tweaker or V6 super charger if you have root permissions. Try changing from 3g to 2g. As 3G coverage is not that good in India, you ll end up draining more battery even when idle.
Spare parts has auto brightness apk should work but I get 3 days out the neo so you should atleast get 24 hours

Moving this to General-Q&A section as I don't see any development here. It looks its related to other device model even.
I will move some others and try to keep development section only for development.
I think it will be good for everybody. Any help is always appreciated.

I'm having an issue where phone idle is taking up about 50% of the battery drain on my phone. I left it on overnight on flight mode, and half of the battery vanished over the course of about 7 hours.
Anybody know any fixes, or related issues?

Contacts 55% (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Display 22%
Voice calls 8%
cell standby 6%
phone idle 6%
Dolphin Browser HD 2%
and in general everytime i recharge my phone, >50% of usage is to CONTACTS !!!
the phone drains on standby as if i was playing a game !!!!!!!
Hi guys - I'm sorry I dont have a solution but I will add something that I've recently experience with my Xperia Neo.
I move around alot within my job - travelling constantly around the city between 5-100km every hour or so and I noticed that during this time my phone's battery was below what I expected - it would last 12 hours and it would NEED to be put on charge.
I asked a friend of mine what he thought and he suggested turning off the 3G setting and selecting 2G only. This is the fix we tried and it appears to have worked.....but...
if only it was that easy - my phone appears to have come from China and so I actually didnt have a menu option to select 3G - the only option was 3G and nothing else, so I had to flash the phone with international firmware to get the menu option.
Settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks>network mode = GSM only

Battery Woes

Is anyone else finding it extremely difficult to get through the day without struggling to keep your SIII alive? I thought the battery life was supposed to be superior to its predecessors? I'm a first time Android user but I did not think I would have to lower my brightness all the way and constantly monitor my devices battery life.
do you have some dumbass apps draining your battery?
i found my culprit and it's Friendcaster without even turn the notification on
get Badass battery monitor to find it or just use the one in setting
I'm finding the battery life is great, and lasts a whole day with no problems
It really depends on what do on your phone.
Try posting a screenshot of your battery stats. Android has an inbuilt monitor with each app and its usage being displayed. Easy method to spot a drain.
I just downloaded that in addition to my other app but there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary that seems to be killing my battery. Most of it is coming from my screen but I keep at it 25% brightness the whole time. Super odd
I usually get around 16 hours of standby and at least 4 hours or more of screen time.
You should try Watchdog Task Manager. It will be able to tell you if an app is running and using more processes than it should. Also I've never used badass battery stats, but better battery stats will tell you if anything is holding a wakelock. It is free for XDA members so you don't have to buy it on the market. Just search for it

On saturday I drove for 4 hours streaming music via bluetooth to my car. Used navigation for about 40 minutes with the screen on the whole time. Took a few calls, sent a few sms's. Read a few forums using data. Got home that night with about 40% left. That'll do me.
Maybe I'm just freaking out about the whole battery situation? I just expected it to be a lot longer and a lot better. I constantly worry if I'll be able to make past 10PM when I start my day at 7AM.
On wifi with little to no voice signal that cuts out frequently, I might get seven hours of screen on time today D:

I'm getting huge drain from Cell Standby.
It'll lose 30% overnight. I keep checking for a software update. It's got to be the modem.
I'm holding off on rooting and custom ROMS until I know for sure this is fixable in firmware.
My phone's on LE6 and is from Thailand.
I see that you have poor signal reception
maybe that's why
last time I went underground, just 5 mins of standby it took away 10% of my battery
when it searches for signal it drains a lot
you could also try to disable auto search for network
go to setting>more settings > network operators and select it manually

Viber is known to keeping phone awake by invoking mediaserver to keep scanning for files in phone, not just that, it will keep wifi on all the time. You need to go to the setting inside the viber app to turn it off and remember to log out of the app after using it. My recommend is remove viber completely.

This is not about 4.1.2 but about my phone in general. i put the software on there just so people know.
Also it wont charge to 100% no matter what i do both my batteries only charge now to 96% and 93% i think they are both deteriorating.
i think my battery drain has to do with Google now. i have turned it off to see the difference
I have fast dormacy on, wifi set to static and network to gsm for best results
Some networks don't have fast dormacy though so download the fast dormacy app and an app called network signal info and try different settings.
Bad signal and wrong settings is cause of most battery loss
When charging it's best to kill tasks with task killer

why blaming on 4.1.2 LEAK JellyBean when it self haven't officially announce.. can't wait to complain until it finalize?
online apps + 3G/mobile data = battery drain, because most online required apps have permission to use mobile data anytime, anywhere, unless we switch of the mobile data..

[Q] Samsung galaxy s3 battery

Im new to this forum thing so sorry if i do/type something wrong. Anyway, i got my gs3 few months ago, and the battery life lasts a day, when i had iphone 3g it lasted like 3 days without charging, so i wanna know if this is normal with everyone or i have to fix it. Yes its rooted with a costume rom.
How often do you use it? Which CPU governor are you using? Make sure it can deep sleep, because if it doesn't it will drain very quickly.
Deep sleep? First I'm hearing about that. Could I set that myself in the paranoid kangdroid ROM
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Deep sleep is a built-in feature that reduces power consumption when you're not using the phone. There are some applications that will keep your phone awake (known as a a wakelock) even when the phone's screen is off. To find out more, get CPU Spy and Wakelock Detector. The former will show you how long your CPU is in each frequency and deep sleep, if at all. The latter will scan for apps that are keeping your phone awake when it should be sleeping.
How much screen on time and other use does it get?
I get 3-4 hours of screen on time before I charge and that's a typical day for me. The newer and more powerful hardware is going to use more battery in general, too - compared to an older phone with much weaker hardware.

Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
If your phone lasts a full day, that's a miracle by today's standards. My S3 i9300 lasts about a full day also, with ~2 hours of screen time at most. Unless you have a Motorola Razr Maxx (3300 mAh battery) or a Note 2, you're probably not going to get over a day of battery life on any phone with anything over minimal usage. Also, don't let your battery die completely; don't go lower than around 20-25%. If you repeatedly do, your battery will overall hold less of a charge.
I suggest also that you turn on Power Saver if you're not gaming. Go into Settings -> Power Saver and disable the screen power savings (it limits the frame rate). This basically keeps the phone from going above 1 GHz (barely noticeable in terms of speed, but big battery savings).
Since you use a custom ROM, try messing with the min/max frequencies of your phone. My Samsung Galaxy SII has pretty good battery life; in this screenshot it's about 2 hours of screen time - 30 minutes of internet data, 30 minutes of music and the rest is miscellaneous gaming, videos, arranging apps etc. Oh yes, and a few phone calls, of course.

your image link is broken, and i can almost say its normal as my phone didnt last more than 8 ours on the first charge with about 4 hours screen on time. but just yesterday after about 11 days! i got about 30 hours of uptime on a single charge with 3.5 hours of screen on time on the battery, it takes some time to settle down the device ! and also note that i charged my phone from 15% to 80% (as some said not to fully charge or discharge the battery ) and just dayb4 i charged it to 100 % (waited for like 15 more minutes after thefull charge notification was shown) and then took it off charge and got this battery backup! so its better to keep it charging in such a way hope this is helpful to you
Thanks for the replies! Today I charged the phone 2 times. First charge, after 2 hours of screen, my phone was at 50%, then I have charged it again to 100% and now, this is the result:
It's better than yesterday but not enough in my opinion. With only 5 hours of usage, battery dropped down less of the 50%.
Are you on wifi all day? If so, what type of wireless network are you connected to? At home my battery lasts all day and is still at 75% at the end of the day, however at work with a different wireless network I'm at 50% by lunch. Looking at the battery stats at work my phone is almost always awake and is due to wlan_awake.
Get a replacement that is really bad

Hope this screenshots helps:
My router is an ovislink evo w300ar 11n. What I noticed is that when the phone is fully charged takes a lot to down from 100% to 99%, but after 99%, downs 1% every ~6-8 minutes.
Something is definitely not right with your phone. Unless you are a heavy phone user, the battery should not be draining this fast.
Try uninstalling any recent apps & see. Also disable sync & see if it improves.

Install greenify and hibernate Dropbox (can be done without root). I also have the power manager service which is really annoying and I haven't figured it out yet

You can go into task manager press the menu button and go to stop services. From here stop everything you don't regularly use especially Facebook I believe it has over 30 services attached to it. This just tells the phone not to update what you haven't opened.

Try disabling fast dormancy, that helped my battery life a lot.
