[Q] Data Shutting Off With Screen - HTC Rezound

I'm currently S-OFF using NeoMAX 2.0, and I've been having a problem where my data shuts off when my screen is off. I know there is the Power Saver Settings app that allows me to toggle the settings. But no matter what I do, my phone seems to ignore the settings I set in that app.
I'm also only able to get 4G after enabling 4G and then rebooting. Then I have 4G until my data shuts off, then it reverts to 3G, and then I have to toggle 4G off then on again, and reboot to get it briefly back.
Also, my wifi doesn't automatically turn off, regardless of the settings in the Power Saver Settings app.
I'm wondering if I'm missing something, or using the Power Saver Settings incorrectly.
One thing I've noticed is that the Power Saver app isn't listed in Super User as an approved application. Not sure if it should be there or not.
Also, I'm not sure if this is related, or if it even matters, but when I flashed the ROM, I did a clean wipe. Several times. Also, whenever I freshly flashed the NeoMAX ROM, my dialer crashed whenever I used the numpad, and I had to flash the GB-firmware patch [from Scott's ROMs] to get the dialer and SDcard to work. (Does this mean my Kernel flash was not successful?)
Current Setup:
NeoMAX 2.0
Kernel 3.0.16-gd0049f1
Baseband: 1.22.10.0310r
Build Number: 3.14.605.12
Amon Ra recovery
Any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this?
Thanks for helping out.

If you run the latest RUU and then set up your phone again, you'll probably be ok. Before you do that though, you didn't say what your hboot is.

I don't think you should be using the ENG Hboot with an ICS ROM. There is a thread in Development that will provide you with the correct firmware/Hboot/radios for ICS.
I am pretty sure that you flash the ROM of your choice and then flash the Hboot package as PH98IMG by rebooting into bootloader before running your ROM for the first time. You may have to flash your recovery of choice back after that.
If you still have radio issues, you can create a nandroid, and do a factory reset in stock recovery (may also need to be flashed) and then restore your nandroid.

This definitely happens to me on my Sense 4 ROM as well.
I can't help but feel like, if you EVER select 'Power Saver', even if you un-select it later, the 'Always-On Mobile' stays off (even though you can't get to that as a feature on its own).
Fail.

The "power saver" options ONLY take affect when the battery falls below a certain percentage..I've heard 14% or 20% . They have no effect on everyday operations.:good:
...i've never seen them kick in below 14% myself, though.:laugh::laugh:

Thanks WookieFan! That did the trick. I wiped clean, reflashed my rom, then before it booted, I flashed the combo ICS combo zip. Also, for future reference, I didn't have to reflash my recovery. It stayed intact when I flashed the firmware/hboot/radio zip.

That would make a lot of sense with what I see.
EXCEPT
It does look like WiFi automatically shuts off with the screen off (or after 15m) when I have Power Saver On, and when I have it Off, my WiFi always stays connected (as I have set in my WiFi settings). This is a repeatable experiment, on my Newt's XXX 3.1.x ROM...
Maybe different on different ROMs too? Hard to tell! I first thought THAT was why Data was going off when screen goes off (sometimes, -- behavior just like every other HTC I've had with 'Always On Mobile' set to Off). However, the Always-On Mobile behavior seems to be Off all the time, regardless whether I have Energy Saver on or off. Confusing!

My data shutS off late at night when screen is off.Starting maybe around 12? no matter what I do. If I screen on it fires right back up. Then come morning it works like normal around 5 Am ish. It's a off peak thing I think.

Phone Not Ringing While On Wifi

I am having an issue with my phone not ringing while I am connected to wifi. My phone gets voicemails and works correctly on all other accounts. This is actually happening with both my HTC EVO 3d (Synergy) and my HTC EVO 4g (CM7).
This is a sporadic issue as sometimes hte phone DOES ring on wifi, just not all the time. At first I thought it was due to our Airave, but I unplugged that device and it was still happening.
I have a feeling it might be Google Voice, which I have on both phone (different Google Voice accounts). My Blackberry which is linked to my EVO 3d will ring every time (and show missed calls) but my EVO 3d will not.
The phone only rings about 5-6 times when calling it, and I'm thinking Google Voice isn't connecting fully through to my phone before it's kicked to voicemail. I figure I will post here and see if anyone has seen something similar while I continue to test this out.
I am no dev but it may be the kernel or a bad flash are you performing a full wipe when you install them and what hboot boot are you running if it is 1.50 i learn the kernel does not flash properly and you need to get flash image gui and use that to extract the kernel from the rom and install it. You need to do this for hboot 1.50 because you can not achieve s-off.

It's happening on 2 different phones with different ROMs and kernels. I'm not on 1.50 either so I can count that one out.
How are you flashing the roms? Have you installed any new aplications that require root on both phones?
Do you by chance have DDTM MODE checked in call settings?

I know I'm flashing them the correct way. I've been using the same process for about 2 years honestly. I haven't installed anything new, and I aware of all applications and how they function on the phone.

Wifi not turning on? (Joel BAMF 1.0 ICS)

Today I installed the bamf 1.0 ICS rom coming from a senseless rom and everything is good minus the wifi. For some reason I cannot turn it on. If I click it to turn it on it says "Turning wifi on...." but I'll wait for an hour and have it not do anything. It will occasionally say error but it will usually just display turning wifi on and nothing else.
Any remedies?
Edit: Also the bamf settings app isn't working quite well on this. Most of the options work but the bamf settings option under the General tab does nothing for me. It gets highlighted and nothing else happens. Also I'm starting to get crazy amounts of blue flicker while just on the home screen which was why I left the other Rom. I did do a full wipe

Dumb question , but did you make sure you installed the correct Bamf 1.0 kernel ? Invariably it seems most wifi errors are improper kernel installation or it didn't flash right.
I flashed one of the sense ones he had up. New Sense 1.5 I believe.

Bamf 1.0 , is based on the new base correct ? Then the 1.5 new sense I believe is for the old base. I think 1.5 new sense was for 1.0 preview and your on the 1.0 official ?
If your on the 1.0 preview then its the correct kernel ,then I am not sure why it wouldn't be working. If your on the new base , then recheck link and make sure it was the right one.
Just checked his site, he now has them labeled newfirmware people and oldfirmware people. So just verify which base your on and grab the correct kernel.
Thanks, I flashed the different kernel and it fixed my problem right up. No blue flickering, wifi turned on, and its no longer laggy. I figured new sense was the kernel just because it said new in it.
Do you know why bamf settings don't work? Everything does except for the one area that says "UI enhancements".

Infected Rom Problems

So this morning I looked at my phone, and put it back on my dresser to sleep a little more (I use my phone for an alarm to wake up). Turns out my phone froze when I looked at it, and stayed frozen making the alarm never go off making me late to work.
I used superwipe from infected, cleared cache and dalvik, and the only adjustments I have made on my phone is to download some apps on the Google play store.
I am using the 3.0 version, newest dl. And I'm using twrp for recovery. Hboot is 1.40.
What did I do wrong and how can I correct it to make this never happen again?
And what's the best ROM for stability, speed, looks (I love green mods), and still has sprint hotspot unlocked.
Sidenote, is how I installed this ROM the best way to do it? I want to have no problems.

[Q] NRG blue theme 6/21 Black Screen after Call

I am using the HTC Amaze Energy ICS Rom latest 6/21 update without any modifications to the kernel etc. I love the rom but every now and then, the screen gets black after initiating a call. The only way to fix that is by taking off the battery and replacing it.
I tried looking for a fix around XDA but could not find a fix.
Any recommendations on how to fix this issue will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Black screen
Try setting the lower cpu freq to 384. I found no frills cpu controller simple and works great.
There are quite a few posts regarding this issue.
Hi,
Sorry to jump aboard your thread with almost the same question.
I been using this rom since almost came out, I went throught all the different updates without any issues I installed the 8/6 version on that same date and not until now I'm experiencing this black screen issue but mine is not after a call, it's everytime the screen goes to sleep then it's a paint to get it awake again I'm starting to hate this phone.
The issue seems to have started after I travelled to a different country and I used a prepaid sim.
Came home and the phone started to act weird I re flashed the rom but since I was restoring data from a recovery (4ext) backup seems to drag whatever errors were there so since I didn't want to lose all my games scores and data I did a backup/restore with Titanium but even though all the other issues are gone the black screen stayed.
The CPU is already set @ 384 so that is not the issue and as I said it happens when the screen goes to sleep (not during calls) either by itself or if I do it myself.
When I press the on button (or the camera one) to wake it up only the four buttons on the bottom light up.
Any help?????
Thanks,

I had the exact problem.
I fixed this by reflashing my rom but there was another way i fixed this as well. A much easier way is just to download the Market App 'Pimp My Rom' . Theres a feature in that app, that fixes this exact problem.
Thanks a lot!
I got it. It looks good (and scary for a noobie)
Is there anything I need to tweak in there or just installing it would take care of it?
Thanks.
Edit: I found "no black screens after a call" under miscellaneous should I tick that one? even though my problem is not specifically after a call?

You have to do something specific inside the app.
I'll give you a step-through-step guide so you can fix this annoying problem!
1. Download the free app!
2. Open the app
3. you'll see tabs, "Main menu, tools, tweaks, Apps & mods, extras, and help center". go to the TWEAKS tab.
4. Then you'll see 7 categories. "Network & internet , multitasking,Dalvik VM, Kernel tweaks, Enable/disable features, Telephony, and Miscellaneous tweaks" SCROLL DOWN AND CLICK ON THE MISCELLANEOUS TWEAKS category
5. Scroll down till you see "No Black-Screen after a call" , then tick the little box to the left of it.
6. Scroll down and click on "Apply Selected Tweaks"
7. It'll ask to reboot, but unfortunately the reboot button the app gives you doesnt reboot the phone, so reboot your phone manually after you did step 6.
8. you're DONE

It will sound stupid but I have found a simple solution:
I have just wiped the screen in the upper left corner where the proximity sensor is located and it started behaving normally. Though I don't use any protection tape on the screen it seem to have become less sensitive because of mud or sweat.
No I haven't solved it. But mine is not after a call it's when the screen been off for a while.
Yesterday after a total software corruption (it wouldn't even boot) I went to stcok (again) and started from zero. Worked well for few hours and this morning I was back with the spolied brat phone.
So, I'm testing stock RUU for a full day today and see what happens.
Try to catch some log when the phone begins to behave badly.

???
No idea how to do that.
But I'm very confused...
I read in few ocasions that if your bootloader is unlocked you cannot flash the stock RUU.
In my case is the other way around, actually now I'm running the stock Tmous rom with unlocked hboot, S-OFF and rooted (and so far the phone is working ok) no black screen so far.
What the hell is wrong with it. It has to be something I do when I flash ROM, Kernel or Hboot...
I'll stay like this until tomorrow to see if I do get black screens at any point.

Use aLogcat app from the Play store.
I been doing more tests and yesterday I run it on stock most of the day with no apparent issues, then I restored the NRG rom from a backup and still no issues so I started to think it was something I messed up flashing the JB Hboot, since the restore changed rom and kernel but not the Hboot.
I restored a backup of a bulletproof rom and decided to do another test.
I sat on the phone as to block signal and the issue came back.
Now I'll try the same with NRG, yep it seems like it's when the phone loses signal the screenwon't come back afterwards.
I'll look for that app

[Q] Issues with HTC EVO 4G LTE 4.3 update

I use an unlocked Sprint phone in India, with the following specs after the update (via the link from HTC).
Operator: Reliance Communications in India
Android Version: 4.3
HTC Sense Version: 5.0
Software Version: 4.13.651.3 CLS310297
HTC SDK API Level: 5.45
Kernel Version: 3.4.10-g3d7f5f9 / [email protected] #1
Baseband Version: 1.13.11.1105
Unlocked / S-ON / Unrooted (root gone after update)
After almost 20 days of usage post 4.3 update, I discovered the following issues. Are they confirmed issues or related only to me? I tried searching various threads for solutions but could not find ones pertaining to few issues listed below.
1) Weak signal strength - I live in the same house, but now not only are the signal bars almost nil (which I gather indicates data signal), I get call drops due to loss of signals and most times people complain of my phone being unreachable.
2) Mobile Hotspot - My mobile hotspot sharing keeps switching off. First I thought it must be due to poor signal strength, but I have checked in different places including places where there is full signal strength. But it just doesn't seem to stay on. And most times, the moment Hotspot gets connected, the data signal goes off, switching off the hotspot.
3) Heats up - My phone heats up tremendously every time mobile data is activated instead of wifi. It happens while trying to switch on mobile hotspot, playing music or videos too. It becomes too hot to hold.
4) Personalise default ringtone - Both ringtone and notifications reverts to default tones - 'Sense' and 'Teal', within half hour of changing to other tones. I have tried with built in tones and downloaded tones, and even with other apps such as ringtone makers to change the default tone to something else, but they just revert to the Sense and Teal.
5) Beats Audio - The Beats Audio keeps coming and going while playing music. Earlier I never encountered that problem, but now its consistent. Sometimes I have to switch it off and on manually to make it come back; other times an incoming message ringtone activates it while listening to music.
6) Poor battery life - Earlier I used to charge my fully charged phone only by evening after extensive usage during the day. Now by lunch time, I need to put it for charge again.
7) Root gone - After the update the root is gone and so has custom recovery (TWRP). I have unlocked the phone again, but unable to reload TWRP with Goo Manager or other methods. How to get root back?
8) Task killer - I miss the simple X next to each app to kill the app. Currently I use Clean Master, but it actually does not clean. I kill the apps, but they seem to be still running. How best can I kill those apps?
9) Contact Images - The images synchronised with Facebook are highly pixelated. Only when I open the contact, the images becomes clear. But after a day or so, they go back to being pixelated, even if those contacts haven't changed their profile pics on Facebook.
I am yet to explore fully to discover if there are other issues with this update such as roaming data etc.
Please help with solutions.
For signal, try toggling from CDMA/LTE to CDMA only and see if that helps. For root, you must first install a special TWRP recovery, the goo version will not work. Use the one in Captain_Throwback's thread. Install via fastboot.
Captain's thread is here:

Your firmware is messed up, your battery and antenna algorithm is screwed for some reason, maybe bad root or unlocking.....etc
You have two choices:
Backup 'n' Reset or...
Backup 'n' flash a new firmware which is the real fix if it was a software program.
Don't forget to hit thanks button if this helped you.
There is also a newer RUU that was issued. This has the roaming data enabled. Install this first then follow my steps above. The download is located here:

I have been having a similar issue (more intermittent) but when I do the code I never get a menu. It just freezes up a bit and then goes on like nothing happened. (I guess I should note that I'm on 5.5, so maybe I shouldn't get involved here.)

Let me start by thanking you. I just did! I took back-up and reset the phone. Most of the problems listed above (1,2,4,6 & 9) solved.
3) still heats up. 5) Haven't got chance to try out Beats issues (its apparently a known issue). 8) Nothing can be done about missing X in task killer.
As for point 7) on Root, where can I find only the flashable TWRP for USB fastboot? Will it work on existing RUU downloaded from original HTC link?
