I've also got supergnes installed and am playing SNES games on my TV through the Nexus Q.

I may replace mine with the gnex HDMI dock...

No it's of no use to you... send it to me!

its not like a phone..
The Nexus Q is a media-streaming entertainment device in the Google Nexus product family. The device runs version 4.0 of the Android operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich, and integrates with Google Play.......dats alll i know....its just an entertainment device......nothing else....only thing is that it looks good.....

Got mine in my shop. Set it up with a wireless keyboard/mouse combo. Use it with Chrome, PDF viewer and TuneIn which plays on my back patio speakers.

Use HDMI and DLNA to mirror movies without cable

I was curious to find out how the hdmi works with our phones so when I went to the sprint store the get my defender case swapped out for a commuter case, I asked about it. Basically DLNA(Digital Living Network Alliance) allows for a person to easily share their videos, music, and photos. I never knew our phones had this feature, so I download the "Double Twist" player app(its free) and "Air Sync" (its not free, you can figure out which way you want to get it) and when you open double twist, go to settings>air twist & air play and check the box next to it. Now if you have an internet cable tv, xbox 360, or ps3, you can stream and mirror your movies on their with NOOOO LAG!!!!!! You can also view your pics and stream your music as well. I love this feature. I thought I'd share.
Doesn't the phones "Media Share" application do the same thing?
Or are these programs better than that?

Yes, very well too... You don't need any program...

However, as of right now we are limited to formats that the hardware support. Hopefully RockPlayer or Vplayer will include this ability so that any movie format can be streamed.
Is it possible to mirror what is on the device using DLNA and Media Share? If so, how can it be done?

It's just a preference. With double twist you use it as a media player also on the go. Being able to share media is a big plus and that's what matters.
Sorry if I was unclear. What I mean by "what's on the device" is complete mirroring. (being able to see everything that is being done on the device)
I would like to be able to do that over some sort of wireless connection to my TV.

Nope. I believe that won't be possible to do without root.
Too bad :-(

The EVO3D does do full mirroring.
Maybe not over DLNA but it does over HDMI.

Really?!?! You just made my day.
If you don't have an Evo 3D, well you don't have an Evo 3D.
DLNA doesn't give mirroring. Think of it more like turning your phone into a media server. It doesn't play the media on the server, but rather is just a host so your other devices can stream the media to them.
I've used DLNA already quite a bit through my ASUS O!Play HD2. There is a little bit of delay in starting the media, but everything streams smooth once it starts.
Anyone know how to do this with a Samsung TV with All Share? I spent some time last night but couldn't get it to work. My TV can't see my phone and vice versa. But my laptop can see my phone and play its content.
Anyone know if this is possible using a Wii?

Yes, I had a Samsung led 3D, swapped it for an LG passive 3D. Go into the media share app while connected to WiFi and check the box to share your media. Check music, pics, and videos. Now go to "set shared folders" and pick the folders off your EVO 3D you want to share. While on all share on the t.v. while connected to.the same network it will find your phone. If not, don't use the all share app on t.v. just go to the media play app and it will be there. Or. On phone go to connected devices app, choose the media you want to share and then your t.v. and it will play if its supported content.

What issues do you have, I just finished streaming couple shows while waiting for my next class. Only issue I ever had was when touchwiz released and they had to do an update to work with the new video player.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
It doesn't pick up from I left off very well. Like if I pause a video then come back to it later it usually lacks video and just plays the audio. I typically have to restart the app on my PC to get the same video to play again properly.

Streaming video

Okay, so as i learn my new Evo3D, I came across the ability to stream music from my laptop (wireless) and thats just awesome however I was wondering if there is a way to stream videos from my laptop to my phone. I have a bunch of DVD's on my laptop, and think it be great to stream them over to the phone.
What would i need on my phone in order to play them? Im sure I would have to convert them down (no biggy), but on the phone side how would i get them to play? If all i need is that Watch app, then im SOL, cause i removed that by accident.
I am not rooted, and sorry no plans to either.
Thank in advance for any help
Search for zumocast in this forum or on the market mate. It works well for video apart from 3d ones.

Check out plex in the market... their forums and devs are extremely helpful.
Thanks, the zumocast isnt compatible with the Evo 3d, Im reading up on the Plex, and I also came across QLoud. Videos on my laptop are DivX, AVI so im looking at the apps that will either play them, or convert on the fly.

Vlc stream & convert, that will work..in the market. You can stream over 3g/wifi and it converts on the fly.
is there anything i need to install on my pc, for the VLC stream and convert
Rds... i think u will need to install vlc on ur home computer and enable web interface
Thanks everyone.
The VLC, is a little over top my head, with the set up.
GREAT NEWS though...
I got Zumocast to work just fine, thank you very much Bebida
Now if i could just get the Watch app reinstalled after i removed it for no reason, id be very happy.
Orb on the PC and the Orb app or use mycast.orb.com in the browser of the phone
Good **** RDS

Just download a ROM from the CDMA thread that has it then pull the watch.apk from system, app using 7 zip then re install or your device. Should work I think???

You can stream medias from PC to phone with Connected media. No need to install other apps..
How about PSM(playstation3 media server) it is a DNLA server, there's one for win/mac/linux, it is pretty much a 1-2-3 setting it up, it streams and if need it mux on the fly, so if lets say the evo doesnt play nice with "example" ACC it will mux the audio to mp3 codec on the fly(cpu heavy on pc). On the evo dont have to download anything, just go to the gallery and there's a lil arrow on top right corner, hit it and navigate to Media Server, and you will see PS3 Media Server, and... bOOM! you get your list of media(you configure the folders on the psm [email protected] side), Google PS3 Media server....pretty easy! been using it to stream all my media to all my DNLA devices!
Edit: If you use Handbrake to add some line-tag to the 3d videos(if you have any), the PSM will stream 3D and your Evo WILL play it on 3D mode automatically with the stock player!! no need to download any apks on the phone, just PSM and Handbrake. Been using that with ubuntu/windows7 flawlessly. (nocturnal 2.5.2 - chad's kernel(new#2) )

[Q] make my ps3 or tv recognize and play media from my phone over wifi

My PS3 and my smart tv pickup my windows computer over wifi enabling me to show pictures music and videos on it. Im assuming this is a windows feature that allows it to show up like that. Is there any type of app that can fake the tv I to thinking my phone is a wi dows media?
I may be using wrong technology terms here but hope what I am saying makes sense
Hey,
There are many apps for that in Google Play, the technology is called "DLNA", just look for that in Google Play.
I use imediashare for displaying videos and pictures on my Sony TV. But with this app you normally send your media to the TV, and not the other way round.
Just try it!
Greetings,
Phil

[APP] imediashare - shoot anything HD to your TV nicer than airplay.

Hey Guys, heres the deal, I own the following.
Galaxy Nexus x2
Nexus 10
Ipad 2.
hanging out at your house with a bunch of people having beers and want to show everyone some cool video you found?
Well guess what, No one wants to stare are your stupid phone or tablet! Nobody cares.
However, Beam it to your sweet tv set and everyone will check it out.
I own a Boxee box and a WD tv live + these stream all my content and are dlna capable, etc..
With my Ipad If I want to shoot a youtube video to the boxee box connected to my I just hit the airplay button. This is seemless and fast.
However it does NOT do HD.
On Android you cant do this manually. BOO!
This is until I found imediashare. This app finds any capable device on your local wifi network. Smart TV's Boxee box - xbmc, etc etc.
Go to youtube app, start a video, hit share - imediashare icon. BOOM, goes right to your tv set.
The best part in all this is that it will beam HD, I tested by beaming the new Lincoln movie trailer,
started the video hit share, and my boxee kicked the tv display to 1080p and it played Beautifully!.
Check it out its pretty sweet.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwyLDYsImNvbS5iaWFub3IuYW1zcHJlbWl1bSJd
They have a light version too, but i think its nuetered to sd content..
This also shoots any other media on your android device as well.
cool app and no wires needed!.
Cheers!
Great! I'll give it a shot and report back in a while
Thanks I was looking for a good airplay alternative. This might fit the bill nicely.
I've been using Twonky Beam with pretty good success beaming media to my Roku. It is completely free, which is great. Quality looks fantastic although I'm not 100% sure if its full HD. As far as I can tell its just passing on the link to the video stream directly to the Roku and nothing is actually streamed via the phone.
Anyone else have experience with both?
