My "New" HTC flyer - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Got a "new" HTC flyer and it seems to be a dev device. It has an app called HTC ssd test tool, thinks it has 3g when it only has Wi-Fi, and no honey comb. Can I manually update to honeycomb for Wi-Fi only? Thanks in advance! I can post screenies later.

It should be fine of you have WiFi access. Otherwise I'd think it would be in HTC support on their website.

unlocked device u can put recovery on and costum roms so use any of the guides in here; look for globathrons posts.

Yea but personally I have yet to find a nice custom ROM that doesn't slow the device down. My recommendation is stick with stock sense gingerbread as it is the fastest ROM out and most stable. And if you want, use the overclocked kernel to 1800 for an extra kick

[Q] wi-fi cannot detect in flyer

Actually I have HTC HD2, and I used HD2 as a wi-fi router
The signal can be found in laptop, but it cannot be found in my HTC Flyer...
Does anybody know how to set this so I can use wi-fi signal from HD2?
thank you
Do a search. It's been covered. Short answer is it can't be done with stock ROM.

I did. . .
I set the settings manually, but cannot be found
Finally I got the answer from HTC.com
Our HTC Flyer doesn't support Ad-hoc connection
HTC Flyer has tech spec for wi-fi like this:
IEEE 802.11 b/g/n
maybe, there is no "a" stands for Ad-hoc

There are now two different ways to root the Flyer: the unofficial which also is a complete S-OFF and the one from HTC self. The last one didn't change the installed ROM and for the first solution, you have to check in the developer subforum on which version the custom ROMs are based.
And... I can't promise that it is working for you afterwards. I didn't have a HD2 but a Desire.

ROM for easiest transition to GSM/CDMA

Hey all,
I'm headed to Korea this week and I was going to reflash my ROM to allow for GSM data. So I'm looking at the Venasaur (Charmander if it gets released in time) or MIUI. I'd still like to use it on CDMA until I leave, but easily switch it to GSM while in Korea for data usage.
What's the easiest/best of the two to use?
I'm currently on Scott's ICS Dev Edition as I prefer the stock ICS feel. I could put up with a theme for a couple weeks while I'm there though.
Otherwise, I'm using my old Captivate while I'm there as I know that'll work, but the GPS is practically unusable.
Thanks!
Super
Pretty sure you can run GSM on your current rom. Settings>Tweaks>Misc>Phone Info. The antennae selection is on that screen.
You can get gsm on any rom, its sending sms and a couple of other issues that only miui or any sense 4 rom work it out using the gsm fix patch.
I'd say use miui, both cdma and gsm is working out of the box with cdma sms sendung being the only issue.

Data's the big concern. I don't plan on using voice too much, if at all on this trip. I mainly want data for Internet, GPS and translation.
Have people been able to use data without trouble on other ROMs besides those two?

T-Mobile ROMs

It looks like there aren't any ROMs based on the T-Mobile formware on any of the forums. Are y'all getting the same data speeds on the international ROMs? Is there a tmobile radio to flash?
You should be able to flash any in the HTC One Forum. Our device is the M7 so you should have no issues. Only problems some people have been seeing is from ATT so far with roms that don't have the proper RIl files and this is believed to cause the radio to switch from E, H, and LTE chronically.

stupid question, but does flashing the roms on the international one forum **** up the radio?
Only if the ROM includes the radio. As far as I know, no one is including radios in their ROM's. I would personally hold off flashing any radio until we get a flashable zip, RUU, or other means to go back to the shipped radio. Some users are having issues with the WWE radio on Tmobile and ATT. Some may think it's just the rill files too.

I mean, the "you can sort of unlock the bootloader but you can't have S-OFF" is obnoxious but it isn't any easier to bring your phone--if anything, the limitations placed on operations done in recovery make it harder to actually brick your phone since the boot and recovery images are normally flashed in fastboot.
But yeah, Nexus phones are much kinder to tinkerers. News at 11.

Yeah, that's what I did too. Only mildly sad to give up wifi calling; I never go over on minutes anyway.
Can't wait until there's T-mo specific roms. I get absolutely crap reception in my apartment and NO reception at work, so i desperately need wifi calling.
What we need is a good all around android dev /Rom chef to dedicate there time to our branded HTC one.
I hope Roms aren't gonna be generic forever leaving us with partially set up Roms/ having to flash radios constantly and whatnot !Never knowing what's compatible and what's not .
If that's the case I foresee a lot of angry people and jtag sales in the future .
I'd give it a month or two before we have a few 2-4 dedicated tmo HTC one roms 100% ready to flash and go just for us only .

[Q] Camera Update

The international HTC one got the camera update which is a night and day comparison, my question has anyone gotten an OTA on tmobile, can you flash an international OTA on a Tmo rom?
I was also wondering how this update will be delivered to tmobile and other carriers. Does an update like this have to go through carrier testing or can it be delivered directly from HTC?

We are talking only about the camera fix.. the us versions came with that. Obviously the international update has additional bug fixes along with the camera update. Not sure our useless carriers will push that fast.
There are 2 fixes.
Originally it was 1.26.
The first fix improved camera quality greatly- 1.27. This is the one t-mobile is on.
The second round of fixes (1.28 and 1.29) also improved camera quality (although less so) and the capacitive buttons. Very slight battery increase as well.

wifi calling on developer edition

There is no way to add it to 4.2.2 roms until a tmobile 4.2.2 rom is released. The only reason the international 4.1.2 roms had it was because they were able to extract the necessary parts of the rom and apply it to theirs, but those don't work on 4.2.2.

You cannot just "install an .apk or .zip" it just doesn't work on AOSP.
So many features of this phone rely on Sense I can't understand why anyone buys the Play edition. I love AOSP as much as anyone, but it seriously hampers the experience of the One.
Yes, ROMZ and such, but pure stock is good by me.

There is no T-Mobile wifi calling options for any Rom 4.2 and above, due to T-Mobile not releasing an official 4.2 update. I hope 4.3 come sooner rather than later, then it can be ported to all custom roms.
