Phone working again after water damage
You'll never believe this! All the methods did not work but i knew with one test the screen with touch was still okay... The mainboard was malfunctioning. Soo i baked the mainboard in the oven 2 times at 200 C degrees for 10 minutes... and now its freaking working again!!!!!!
1. find out if the phone dropped in salt or normal water.
2. open the whole device and let it dry for 2 days in a lot of rice.
3. if still not working put the mainboard in the oven voor 10 minutes at 200 degrees (celcius). (this worked for me!!):silly:
3. if you havent smashed your phone because of frustration it should be working!!!
Lock it!

Reflowing the PCB, pretty bold but hey if it's your last option why not

Good to know. Glad you fixed it.
I fixed my external hard drive by putting it in freezer overnight. So if i have prob with cell phone i can always bake it.

Best of luck.
My experience with my wife Sony Arc. My wife got it in the washing machine. Went through the full cycle! and my wife tries to dry it together with the cloths under the sun!
It still wont start after sunning(is that the word?) and called me finally.
I took the phone to a friend shop( cant really claim warranty here, the phone was only 6 month old) and open up. The batt got charge up, the mother board cleaned with tissue and blow dry. It started up no problem but water is still in between the lcd screen. The touch screen was not working on the middle part.
So took it back home, put some uncooked rice in a Tupperware and leave the phone inside without the batt for a week. After that the water in the lcd is gone and the touch screen work fine. Nothing was lose(no reset, software fine) except warranty(no problem there,it was rooted, custom rom).
My wife is still using it now
Or put it into medical alcohol (like 75%+) for a night.

Which can be really expensive,at least in Germany, because of the tax.Don't know if it is just for alcohol you might be able to drink as well or for all sorts of alcohol.
I don't know why,but I dreamt several times that I drowned my XPERIA.
I think it will be a hassle to get it dry because of the battery...

phone got wet?

well my phone got wet on the back with a case, then i took off the case it and the back which was all wet, the battery was wet to and so was under it, i took out the battery and dried every thing and it worked, everything did, the speakers and buttons. so later today the phone just shut off and wouldnt turn on. so i thought it died and i tried charging and just the light would flicker on the top left of the phone. so i put it in rice for about 5 hours and i put battery back on and now when i press the the power button. the screen just turns on like u can see light, just a black screen. then it goes away.
the battery has some green stuff on one of the gold things that conencts your batteries.
So i oredered another battery off of ebay, do you think that would fix it?
Thank you so much for reading this, just post your opinion on what happend.

Hope it works dude, water damage is pretty random depending on how wet it got. For the future, it would have been better to have taken out the battery and put it in rice immediately...
yap
a friend of mine forgot his phone in the pocket and it got washed by a washing mashiene
he brought it to a phone store and they put the phone into a blue liquide and after that iot worked properly
the green things on the contact came because u put it under voltage due it was wet the water got split into its parts (electrolysis)
i had the same problem with an mp3 player years ago lights went on but nothing else i think u broke ure phone but just leave it for a week or so and try again with the new battery
i hope for it will work
So actually, most phones phone should operate fine on net power and without a battery. Have you tried this? If it behaves the same as you described, I would not spend a dime on it ;-)
Bad luck btw ;-/
Hey guys i know this might not be very useful but hahahahah yesterday night me and some friends of mine were drinking outside near the main river in frankfurt hahahah and drunken girl got 8€ for jumping into the river xD
she did it ( i couldnt believe this xDDDDD i´d never done this )
Afterwards she recognized her galaxy ace in her pocket....
well it got wet
later on in her flat she repowered the phone and everthing worked fine expect the micro usb slot on her device xD
Well jfi xD
Try removing the battery and battery cover and completely submerging in 99% isopropyl alcohol (You can get it at most grocery stores, pharmacies, etc.) for a few hours. At this point the phone should work as normal again, but to be on the safe side take a box of rice and submerge your phone in the rice. Leave it their for a day or two and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.
i might try it myself as my phone has water damage on it as well
9 times out of 10 in my line of work, usually when the screen backlight turns on but doesnt display anything means its done for. I have seen customers with phones that got soaked and they lasted a couple of days but then stopped working... My best guess is that the water was still inside the phone and shorted out one of the small circuits inside. Good luck though i hope you can get it working.

My Galaxy S II dropped in water and i want some help

Hello community.
I have a serious problem and i want your help.I read all the articles about dropped in water but i can't solve my problem. So i am starting from the beginning.
Yesterday my phone was dropped in the toilet for 2-3 sec (stupid i know). I took it, i remove immediately all the parts (battery, sim, external sd) and i start blow with hairdrier (mistake i know) after 2-3 hours i try to switch on the phone with no result so i continue my stupidity... I connect the phone on the charger with no result but as i noticed the back of the phone was warming. After that i read the articles (the first correct thing). So i put the phone in a rice inside a Tupperware and i wait for 8 hours. Then i start the phone and WOW it was working fine for only 10 sec. Then a battery message appear that i must charge the phone and the screen went black but the sounds and the touch was working. So i close the phone and i put it in the charger ( i know,,, i know...) After 10 min i remove the phone from the charger because was warming. I tried to switch on but the screen continue to be black and the sounds and the touch working... So i remove again everything and i put it in the rice again until today 2 hours ago.
I switch the phone and the phone started and the screen working except 1/4 of the screen in the above right place. So i close the phone and i put it in the rice again.... I noticed that when the phone is closed there is difference in colour between the black screen that working and the black part that is not working. So after again 2 hours in the rice i noticed that the black screen that is not working start to expanded in the left top side of the phone... and i am wondering, this thing is a water or something from the screen liquid?
Please help me if you can. I will appreciate your help.
Michalis Michael
I don't know if anyone can help you, it is a smelly affair.
If you were using some kind of disinfectant inside of your toilet (especially the smell of the sea or green apple) you have a huge problem.
More seriously, the layers of the screen stratify from each other. You can only replace whole screen, but I suppose that the rest of your phone also will die sooner or later.
Sell it as defective. Repair will be too expensive.

Dear friend i appreciate your knowledge and i want to inform you that inside the toilet their was NOT any kind of disinfectant inside.
Any suggestion except of sell it as defective???
Okay, don't be nervous, just kidding.
No, unfortunately there is nothing you can do yourself, only replace faulty screen. You just can't stick your digitizer to screen with somekind homemade tricks. And I don't want to worry you, but I'm afraid that there will be also micro corosion on your phone motherboard.
If you really want to try to reanimate it, than you must take it apart, dry all components with rice method or better by using special adhesive liquid used in electronic to remove all wet.
If the glue from the screen has not been rinsed completly than you can try to squeeze layers by placing a book or something heavyweight and flat on top and simultaneously heat it with a hair dryer. Repet this operation few times without taking out weight.
I really doubt that this will help much but if you really wish to try than go ahead. You can always sell it after that. Even in parts.
There is somewhere on this forum instruction how to unscrew i9100 completly.
Good luck.

I will give a try.
Before try your tricks my friend i am informing you that the whole screen went black.... (Ohhhhh).
I just want to know.
The screen was broken or there is water inside the screen? (If you know)
Where car i sell the phone for parts or as a defective? (i ll give a try at ebay but if you know somewhere else give me a hint)
Thanks again guys
Theres guys on here that have went swimming with their phones and they still work.Youd only get about £130 max on eBay for the phone if you admit its water damaged.
Youd be better soaking the phone in that alcohol stuff then drying it via rice for a week.
What can you get for £130.....

Slow start up, no touch, water accident. possible fried mainboard or partly

Hi,
2 days ago i fell in the water and so did my Galaxy S3 :crying: . It didn't went on anymore bla bla. I started opening the phone and blow dried everything. It now went on but took 2 minutes to get passed the first standard galaxy s3 logo you always see on startup. Once it was up and running i noticed i had no touch.
My girlfriend has an Galaxy S3 and she was kind enough to borrow hers so i could find out if the digitzer might be messed up because i had no touch. And thank god the whole screen and digitzer are still okay. The touch still works when placing my lcd (+digitzer) on her Galaxy S3 mainboard.
So does anyone have a clue how i can fix this slow start up and no touch? Could it be that some parts are fried or still wet from inside some chips? (even after blowing it with hot heat for a long time). Or do i need to clean it with special liquid that also cleans some corrosion? If there is no sollution to all of this, might there be an adress where i can buy a new mainboard/ logicboard/ motherboard or maybe someone with a broken galaxy screen (since my screen is a 100% okay)?
Please help! I'd be really thankfull!
Water in phone fixed!

Water on LCD screen

Hi! While i was having lunch accidentaly a glass of water poured on my phone. I took a napkin and i dried it up, then i turned the screen on and it worked for about five minutes. Suddenly, while i was checking my email, the screen turned off. Now i can see that the digitizer actually works, as well as everything on the phone, except the LCD screen. Do i have to replace the screen? Can i repair it somehow?
You're probably screwed now. If you would have taken the battery out immediately and tried it for at least 24 hours in a bag of rice, you probably wouldn't have had any problems. But since you tried to use the phone when there was water on the screen/in the board, you likely fried something in there.
You can obviously buy a new lcd and replace it yourself, however if water got to the lcd, it's only a millimeter away from the main board, and you will likely have a problem there as well.
Damn. I've put the phone in the rice since i don't have anything to lose now. Tomorrow morning i'll see if i need to replace the screen or not.
Yes! I left the phone in the rice overnight and now turning it on i've just seen that the screen works, so i've immediately pulled the battery. Can i use the phone now or should i put it in the rice again?
The longer you leave it in rice, the better chance you have at soaking up all the moisture. If it were my phone, I would leave it for at least 2 days.
My phone is working perfectly now thanks to the rice. If water pours on my phone another time in the future, I'll put it straight away in rice!
