Is their anybody out there who can help me or knows why i dont get a notification icon/unread count that shows up above my messaging app on CM9 when i have an unread text message. And its not only text messages its phone calls and emails too. Sorry if this has been brought up before. I searched the forums but cant seem to find anything related.

Go to settings/system/status bar and at the bottom is a check box for Show Notification Count on CM9.

Before any one chews my head off, I have searched the site and Google and a can’t find an answer
I am trying to see if there is way to stop my IM messages (Whatsapp,skype, google talk) from displaying the message content in the notification bar.
When I receive sensitive information I don’t want any part of the message to be displayed in the notification bar. I only want to notified that I have a new message
I have tried turning off the notifications on the notification bar but then I never know when I have a new message.
Handcent does this brilliantly with text message but I can’t seem to find a way to turn it off for Instant messages
Can anyone help?
Guess there isn't an app for everything
If there isn't a setting in the individual app then I am not sure its possible...at least in a simple way.
Contact the app developers.....for SMS I know handcent has the option to turn off the text in the notification bar.

Anyone know how to disable the text message scrolling in the notification bar when you receive an SMS?
I still want to receive the notification, but not the message body scroll through.
I'm VERY sure there was a way to disable this in previous firmware, but buggered if I can find this on KF3.

Go into messaging>menu>settings>notification settings>notifications then uncheck the box.
But then I don't get the notification envelope - which I still want.
I just don't want the message scrolling through the notification bar.
I also would like to know that. And the same problem when I get a very long gtalk message.
I want the notification but I do not want it to show the entire message.

When new google voice text messages come in, they appear briefly in the notification bar and then they disappear.
Anybody find a workaround for this? I have missed a lot of important messages because of this.

i assume you have blink status light and text notifications checked off in GV settings?
Yes i have all 4 options checked. Nobody else has this problem?

Yeah,i have the same issue on the leak,i hear the sound and see the notification for a split second and then its gone !
Do you have call log synchronization turned on?
I had that issue on the old ICS leak as well.
Been running .84 for a few days, and it looks like it's fixed. I haven't missed any notifications.
However, if you install .84/.85, there is no way right now to go back to gingerbread, which could complicate things once the final ICS build comes out.
Okay so when I'm playing a game and someone talks to me on whatsapp I pull down the notification menu real quick to see if it's urgent and whether I even WANT to respond.
With just 1 notification there's no problem, but when I've got more than 1 it says for example '3 unread messages' or more so then, I HAVE to open Whatsapp and they also see I'm online and expect an answer.
So, I was wondering if there's some kind of mod or app or whatever that can display these notifications seperately.
I would love to know the answer to this as well

What I want to achieve is an unread messages icon and nothing else, but each time, when I receive a new message, it appears in the notification bar.
