Xperia J or Xperia Sola? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Do I need to sell my Sola for Xperia J? is it worth it?

not worth it. sola is better

J is just like xperia 2011 devices. Old hardware, laggy ics. Also the rom on it is like ics for xperia11 not like ics for p/s. Sola is much better, dualcore hardware and will get ics with the latest sony ui and much smoother.
Go for sola!

I totally agree the Sola is much better.
Why the Sola is better
1. The CPU is dual core and much stronger on the Sola
2. Sola has a higher pixel density
3. Sola has 8GB internal storage, double the Xperia J 4GB
4. Data rates on Sola are faster, see them compared below
5. Newer bluetooth on Sola
6. GPU (graphics capacity) is MUCH stronger on the Sola
7. More advanced multtouch on Sola
8. Sola is thinner and lighter IF you like that
Why the Xperia J is better
1. Larger screen - IF you want that
2. Much stronger battery

Thanks for all the information! I've decided to wait for Xperia V!!

It is worth it if most of the time you will be checking email and browse internet on your phone (just like me). The battery life is good and the screen is good too. And last but not least, the design is beautiful.

Sola is better and faster phone, J is low budget single core phone with bigger, but not better screen.
And V is a beast phone but with much higher price.

Agree with you. Spec wise Xperia Sola is better (and cheaper, in my country). But if a user have the same use case as me, Xperia J might be better. Don't forget about the battery life too.

As in my opinion,Sola is better than J in terms of performance and also in terms of battery.
Remember our devices use NovaThor SOCs so they have reduced power consumption.
And J uses a ancient CPU as well as GPU.(Cortex A5 :silly: and Adreno 200:silly
These specs are similar to my Galaxy Mini which is nearly 1 year old.
This is just my opinion, rest depends on you.

Agree with you bro.
Only if his use case is the same as mine, perhaps Xperia J might suit him a bit better.

Sony ion or Samsung galaxy s3?

I want to choose between these two phones. I live in the states so the s3 is only dual core but it has 2gb of ram. Plus the ion you can't remove the battery. The plus slide is the ion is 100 USD's cheaper than the s3 and had 12mp camera ad opposed to the 8 MP3 camera on the s3. Which phone would you choose and why?

i will wait for Xperia GX
sony acro s
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_acro_s-4781.php
i used to believe i would stick with sony...but they are incredibly slow on updates...xperia s and xperia ion should have came out with 4.0 ICS since release...sony (and sony ericsson) has always disappointed with updates and i would expect the same to occur with jellybean. That's ended up being a deal-breaker for me. Also there doesn't appear to be any top developers or root access being up for xperia ion.

s3 because it already has ics and who really know when ion will get ics. and most likely the s3 will get jellybean first. ion i doubt will. the att version of the s3 has a better processor and better software. and the s3 is is pretty much guaranteed top devs

New SXSL.

Downloaded user guide for Xperia SL, battery is removable. However, without expandable memory and useless connect via USB in automobiles, leaves me wanting.
Can you connect the upcoming SL via USB? Or should I wait for the XT or XV?
Thank you.

Nope. Go the "Battery" section on page 13 of the guide and it says "Embedded battery". Sorry!
The ONLY, UNIQUE difference between the new SL and the Xperia S is the slightly higher clocked processor. And some news colors. That's it, nothing else.

And its not really unique. It's just an overclocked Xperia s chip

So it means like if i overclock my XS to 1.7 GHz with custom kernel (eg. sspeed), it will become Xperia SL, right?

You're right. Under the wrong impression that battery was removable, since you can take off the back cover to put in micro SIM. I still feel the need for removable battery, so you have backup when one dies, or the original craps our after a year. To send back to Sony to replace battery screams "ripoff".

Xperia J or Xperia U

Got a Xperia U although not really used it yet (waiting for ICS), but now seen the Xperia J for the same price, I know the U is dual core, but then the J has micro SD and a bigger screen, how much weaker is the processor?
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4930&idPhone2=4437
I cant really tell much difference to my single core Motorola Defy overclocked at 1GHz and my dual core Xperia S running at the default 1.5GHz ill be honest. There is obviously a difference but its not a breath taking one thats for sure.
Way weaker. It is just an redesinged xperia 11. Uses the same outdated laggy ics rom. Nothing compared to nxt phones

From the review of miro and tipo (which share the same internal as sxj). People calling it snappy.
Personally there isn't much different between q single core arc and my sxs for normal use. Probably in heavy games. But still I could play GTA on my arc easily.
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
that device isn't very good... the same Adreno GPU that X8 has, kinda sucks, and the processor is kinda slowwwwwww
I personally would go for the Xperia U, is clearly faster, better CPU and GPU, the same amount of memory the lack of memory card slot, and the smaller screen can make you think twice before you buy it but belive me, it is more than enought
I was going to buy the Xperia J until I seen the spec. The adreno 200 gpu is very weak and would really struggle with any decent game or even rom.
I now have the Xperia U and if you can get over the fact that the 3.5" screen is the exact same width as the tiny x8 then it is a great phone. The screen detail is very good and the phone sits perfectly in the hand.

Xperia U looks very stylish, but J is newer. IMO get J because you ll sell it for 0,5 y or 1 y for better money.

[Q] help me decide. xperia p vs xperia sola

hey all, im currently using xperia mini pro and planning to sell it and buy a new phone.
my target is xperia sola or xperia p. dont tell me to buy other products i only want sony :good:
which do you think is better?
cons of sola i know:
1. sola has smaller screen 3.7 inch instead of 4.0. but i think that would be big enough for me. cause im using a 3.2 inch screen phone for a year now.
2. 512mb ram instead of 1 gb ram. but i think that would be no problem if supercharger v6 script applied.
3. 5mp camera instead of 8mp camera. which is fine for me.
4. weird looking screen. is it just me but the sola screen can be fall of anytime soon
5. floating touch. to me this is useless im not gonna use it anyway. its gonna consume battery. is there an option to switch it off?
6. i heard there will be no jelly bean updates for sola? but P gonna have it? not sure if this has been confirmed or not.
cons of p i know:
1. doesnt have sd card slot. i know it comes with 16gb internal storage. but i heard the real one is 11gb only available or less than that?
2. uses micro-sim slot?? i have been using lg optimus one, galaxy note, xperia mini pro, those three are mini-sim. what is the difference between micro sim and mini sim? will my sim card be compatible with the micro sim slot? cause i dont wanna buy a new type of sim card.
3. most people says xperia p battery life sucks compare to sola, u, s and so on?
now tell me honestly which phone should i pick? no biase answers please. personally i prefer P because it has a bigger screen. but is it worth it to add $90 to go for the P instead of the Sola?
bump

Xperia P looks better in my opinion, what really made the phone stand out for me. but no expandable storage and the battery kinda suck to be honest, but for me this isnt really a problem so i went ahead and bought one. Also your sim will work with the P if you cut it to size, or ask your carrier for one, they will usually give you a micro sim with your same number, and contract etc. free of charge, i recommend going to your carrier, because i broke my P when i put in a mini sim which i attempted to cut to size, luckily it was replaced with warranty!
Go wit xperia p:thumbup:

About 11 gb, but you fill up the rest with apps and such, so it's not all that bad. And I'm not certain on this but if you root and use Roms you could probably get access to the whole 16

Xperia S is better, but it doesnt look as nice in my opinion and it wasnt in the price range i was looking at, and if you're considering the sola and P then the S might be a bit pricey on your budget. If you want specs, get the S. Depends on your usage though, the S also has a better battery life i hear.

Go for P. Of course!
Why? The reason is already you mentioned above.
But i think the reasaon is u must go for P is RAM! 512 mb and 1Gb it's totally different.
If sola get a task, open application, games , and etc, so the ram is almost full, but xperia P still have half of ram free with the same task.
Don't think supercharger is make more free ram. Maybe ur sola can more smoth and fast but it take a lot of ram.
And the last thing is because sony will bring their update first on the XP than Sola
It's really frustated when xperia P already have ICS and we (sola, u, go) must be waiting till 2 months later.
and if u go for sola u must be waiting again like us, for the jelly bean update, just share
Sorry for my bad english.
Please hit thanks if i helped

[Q] openion abt xperia tipo

Guys im in the thought of purchasing xperia tipo to my girlfriend
B4 that I need to know something about it can you tell me the negatives in it ....???
Also positives...
Well tipo has Xloud tm experience which allows it to play music at very loud volumes and enhances the quality of the speakers. Tipo scored very high in Antutu so if your gf is in gaming then I'll recommend it. The bandwidth and upload speed is also quite good. Plus it is a budget phone. The build design of Tipo is beautiful and many reviews has given it full stars for it's build quality. Also it is very light and easy to hold. The only negative is its small screen size. But you can solve that by buying miro.
HIT THANKS

What do u think abt Motorola fire xt
Sent from my MT11i using xda app-developers app
Yes it is good too . But the most reviews I have read , it is a fail mobile. Motorola fire xt is thicker than tipo considering the mobile is from Motorola which creates very thin mobiles. In a video review I saw that it takes very long time to boot load. Also there were many problems with the touch screen. The sound quality isnt that great either. The internet is same as tipo considering if you're using the same WiFi. But I think your gf wouldn't so much in hifi technology, so yeah you can buy her this phone taking into account that the screen is 3.5inches.
PS have you tried htc explorer.
