I can report that this camera is working for me on RezRom S4.
Even the options to use the volume keys to take pics works!
I'm sure this thing may have some bugs, but I haven't found any yet (other than the preview doesn't fit the screen right), and it seems less buggy to me than the ported Sense 4 cameras.

It works fine on ViperRez; however, you do lose 720p front facing video, and the preview screen doesn't fit our whole screen size (Like mentioned above). It would be awesome if someone, dev or none dev, could get this working properly for our sense 4 ROMs.

I also noticed that attempting to capture a picture while recording saves a pure white image, and causes the video to not save properly and makes the app lag when trying to stop recording.
Long story short, don't try to capture image while recording video.

Anyone know if our awesome devs have gotten this working 100% yet? Is it included in any of the current rom's?
I wonder if Newts Endeavor 1.0.0 4.5 ROM's camera have these bugs smoothed out, I havn't flashed it yet since we are waiting for a patch to fix an issue or two.
That would be awesome. I want that camera really bad. Do you know if it's in newts Rom?

hi, just found the sense 4.5 leaked camera app from the one x forum, after fixing permission, i was able to run the camera app of or evo 3d but unfortunately everytime i go into the settings of the app, the app force closes
can anyone fix this leaked version of the camera app?

edit: don't flash this, I did nothing to it.. just copied the file from the One X forum for someone to tamper with to get it working for the 3D possibly.

and no one is working on ZSL for the EVO 3D except the "goodguy" cough cough !!
so unless someone contacts him and co-develops this with him its no use porting it

this apk works partially indeed
it can shoot picture, but the shooting mechanism is odd, u press onto the screen NOT TO FOCUS but to shoot
and the resolution of the pic shot is awfully low...if i rmb correctly, they r all of the 640x480 size...
You can still port .. we never got a zsl kernel because no zsl cam was correctly ported.. so if this is ported, we could see a kernel pop up at a 3rd party site.

I really want Jellybean but I am reluctant to not have the sense experience I love (especially the camera) so I was wondering if there was anything for the EVO that offers both... the One X seems to have quite a few so I am hopeful that the EVO has one.

Thanks, I think I'll give it a try. Still may not be a daily driver due to the camera.
The siii camera is available for aosp roms, and pretty good
Just can't beat the sense camera software though. I hear jb and sense 4x have improved camera software. 29fps, better focus, ect

I've been meaning to ask a similar question, this seems like a good thread to bring up a discussion about what parts of Sense you miss in AOSP.
For me, definitely the camera. Beats audio is another one.
You can get the Sense clock widget in a .apk that works in other launchers.
Is there anything else?
Shortcuts, sense has a buttload of shortcuts that I can't live without. Plus the ui is great looking. Also quick settings. Sure everything is in ics and jb as well but its just not as polished.

On the Htc One forums there are now Sense 5 Roms, and OTA updates. Hopefully we can get a port for Sense 5 soon. I know Newt is working on it and hes a amazing dev. So we might have it soon.

awesome I'm really pumped for Sense 5... moreso than CM10.1 actually, if you can believe that.
I just hope things are proportionalized better... like icons shouldn't be so BIG on such a big HD display, we aren't all grandpa's

homescreen sizing was better on the htc one vs my dna iirc...but to me a lot of the "bonuses" of sense5 were tailored to the hardware within the htc one. (camera, sense tv and IR capabilities)
assuming a modified version is what we will eventually see from verizon, that might make things a bit better.
I have a feeling that when a Sense 5 Rom gets releases....servers will crash.

I found a noob guide on Rom porting so I gonna try porting sense 5 tonight and see if it works. If so Ill post but dont expect for Rom fixings because I don't know how to fix bugs

wifi fixed =) thanks to zarboz for reminding me about the firmware file it loads, had to change the path in libhardware_legacy =)
camcorder is the only bug i see, however i still need to look around, there some behind the scene bugs due to the M7 kernel being more updated than ours.....not sure how that'll effect us yet

Absolutely not lol...I honestly don't know it may. Be a way...but since the htc inspire 1080p recording was possible with continuous auto focus on sense roms....even aosp jellybean still can't do that...also I think in order to make full use of any htc camera...an htc sense kernel is required...ima noob tho

i believe it needs the sense framework to function at all since it uses if anything links to sense api's like its gallery for instance. If it worked it would probably have been ported over to aosp by now, or at least had a beta testing thread.

that i don't know but from what iv seen and used it is basicaly the same camera with zoe in it that doesn't work anyways with our phone. EDIT: also i just today installed the 4.3 camera and its just adds another gallery and another camera app and i love photosphere it works great here is a pick of my backyard for quality, i moved it too fast so it got kinda of confused lol.
4.3 camera apk is actually pretty solid and has 1080p video recording
If you compare quality of the AOSP camera and Sense camera even rudimentary there's no comparison on the quality.

It literally says in the article that you linked that blinkfeed is included.
Only things that won't be included are things that can't be included, stuff like zoe and the TV remote.

no it wouldnt help aosp in any way, sense and vanilla android are completly differnent, sense is based ON android but its not really android its sense.

Actually it should still help, as most of our audio issues on CM 10.1 are driver related.

We would need the source for the drivers, we can't get them from OTA's unless HTC decides to just release driver source we can't get that stuff or we would already have it.
