ICS in Sprint e-mail - Motorola Photon 4G

So did anyone else get the Sprint message about getting their Photon to run faster, which suggested clearing the browser cache? - Bigger question is did anyone else notice that the Photon in the picture was running either ICS or JB!? It was, complete with the new rounded click/weather widgets and five icons along the bottom of the screen. Now if they'd only distribute and release the source, it would make the devs jobs easier, having ICS/JB drivers.

Wow I read the first post and got all excited. O well time to keep waiting for ics

Well [email protected]! - I read the message and at a quick gander the very subtle differences don't stand out. Of course there's no reason the think those dip-sticks would use the picture of the wrong phone. I was all excited seeing the ICS/JB OS too.
Fingers crossed that new parent Google slaps some sense into Motorola and unlocks the boot loader and releases ICS or JB soon with source code. You know the expression about the chances being slim to none, well slim is on life support I guess.

And is there anything whatsoever in your experience that would conceivably lead you to expect them to be as early as possible rather than as late as possible?
That, of course, leaves aside the question of whether there's anything in your experience that would lead you to expect them to honor this claim in the first place.

Ah ! Moto at it again. With Photon Q LTE out with JB, it is unlikely that we will now get an update to either ICS or JB, even though Google 'promised' to keep hardware refreshed for 18 months. We will most likely be extended an olive branch of $100 credit towards another 'Moto Phone' ... really Moto ?
This is my last Moto phone and likely last Android as well. I am ready to convert to Lumia 920.

Technically the 18 months is not over yet. It has only been close to 14 months since the release of the Photon 4G so Motorola could pull something out of its hat and possibly give us a JB update in early January 2013. All these hints about offering $100 for a future Moto device for any 2011 devices that don't receive the ICS upgrade is pretty telling to me.

The droid family is now getting it as OTA :S
I have a feeling motorola is waiting for the next update to release to put on this phone. rather than waste time on an incremental change.
But seeing the original android phones on at&t, this update could be a long ways away. Just my opinion.

where do you people keep getting this idea? The CURRENT version on the atrix supports dual core. It's been proven. What doesn't support dual cores is most apps. The delay is not on a version that supports multicore, so stop spreading that piece of false information.

So cynical, cousin!
We all know that the release process goes through the carrier after the manufacturer is done with it. For all we know it could be ATT that is dragging its feet whereas Verizon is moving more quickly.
I, perhaps naively, think that Moto won't drop the ball on its flagship device.

I know, I bet if they were to release ICS tomorrow with Sense 4.0 and people would be like "I'm sooo pissed that they didn't give it to us yesterday! I mean, you know they had it ready, why didn't they just release it?".
People just need to relax already, have some patience. Also, I really doubt Verizon had a huge executive meeting/decision for the order in which devices were listed. Plus, with the Rom options available to you for it in the last couple of days - you have you're option RIGHT NOW.

The list is in chronological order, from oldest phone to newest, by manufacturer. No conspiracy against the Rezound.

Account Hacked

So last week I kept receiving texts from AT&T on 10/26 ,asking me how was my replacement device and to make sure I return my old phone. I ignored them because , my pops was robbed at gun point on 10/20 and I was assuming that he used my line or something to replace his, since we're on a family plan together. But after talking to him and finding out that he went to the store and purchased another phone out of pocket, I finally go online and check my account and low and behold there was not just one, but TWO CLAIMS! One on 10/18 and then another one on 10/22, just four days later for a total of $398.00!
So after calling AT&T and Asurion insurance company for about three days and finding out that they shipped the phones to Fort Worth , Texas and Justin, Texas....WHEN I LIVE IN FORT LAUDERDALE ,FLORIDA! I finally got the charges reversed , me personally I do not see how you can approve of two claims within 4 days? And then today I get a call from a close friend of mine who also has a Note that he also received false claims on his account on the same two dates the 10/18 and 10/22 and both phones where shipped to somewhere in Texas too! So now we're both trying to figure out how in the hell did this happen, the only thing we have in common is we both run custom ROMS on our Notes FJ UCLF6 and I'm not in anyway saying that was or is the problem, but just that's the only thing we have that connects us.And he says that he never calls AT&T about his account from his phone, but I do.
All I can say is watch your accounts and make sure there's a extra password on your account!

Question..When you called asking about the claims..Did you ask for the addresses were they were shipping the phones to? Since it was your account they should release the info as of where they shipped them exactly? once you get that adress you can call the local authorities there and talk to a detective regarding that?

What would make you think its an inside job? Just because AT&T corporate headquarters is in Dallas and the fraud phones were shipped to a Fort Worth address?? I'm sure that's merely a co-incidence
BTW the gestures security issue was infact that screenshots could be taken without the users knowledge. I'm not saying that's what got your account hacked but it is possible.
The gesture security was really a minor issue. PA's dev left XDA because the issue was made to be alot bigger than what it really was.
In any case, inside job is definitely possible. AT&T may try to blacklist the phones, which I highly suspect that they can actually do, but these phones are unlocked and sold to Europe and Asia.

What does this have to do with PA? The problem was also in Cyanogen.
And I don't see what any of this has to do with passwords, being hacked, etc... All paranoid conjecture.

1.29 update

Is it possible to install the 1.29 update on an ATT HTC One? Would I require an unlocked bootloader to do that? Are there repercussions I should be aware of?
You can flash any International ROM once you're unlocked/rooted/custom recovery. All of which are most likely based on .29 WWE firmware.

The whole point of having software versioning in increasing order is to correspond to new developments. I have hard time believing the camera, beats and any other "improvements" made in 1.29 is in AT&T's 1.26.

Why not. Do you know how product cycles work? They just don't make all the phones at one time... Theres the pre production phones which were at the announcement and early reviewers. Then they would of started the intl version production soon after if not it was already done. If they decided to make an adjustment during the making of the intl ONE it's easier to continue the product run and fix with a ota than it is start all over... US versions have to be picked over before production. So they would of had time to tweak software.
So no it's not naive. Saying there's no way is naive .

Yea that's what it said. From what Samsung told me it was error on the carrier side. But did give a hint that multi view is on the way. Guess the petition did some good

Not gonna argue that. Just saying that Samsung said multi view update is not available yet. Do I believe them NO. But that's what's they said

If we see it, I think it'll be a positive sign that the carriers listen to the voices of users wanting (demanding) updates and similar featuresets to other models of the same handset (not stripped down) but I'd be really surprised if we ever see another official update out of AT&T for the Note.
We're under contract for two years, IMO we should get good support and reasonable updates for those two years.
I still think if carriers didn't screw with the updates so much, they could get them out faster and cheaper, but I doubt that'll happen

But what about all that content AT&T offers? How would we LIVE without it? /sarcasm
I totally agree, I wish Google enforced an osap release for every device with manufacturers so we'd have the option of vanilla or a manufacturer custom rom. Like that would ever happen lol

true but not exactly what I meant. What I mean is say Samung goes to release say the Note 3, they write an ASOP rom, and then another that has all of the touchwiz, multiple windows and other cool samsung apps. When the phone hits the carrier, it will inevitably be laced with AT&T bloatware, but we'd still have the original ASOP from sammy to choose from. Now I know in this model there's no way a company like Samsung could maintain 2 ROMs for every phone, but I think many of us would prefer to go without touchwiz for a clean experience and true customizability that Android was meant to be.
Really though, if Google went to more of a modular design instead of encoding the hardware drivers within a kernel that would be the end all of that. Yes I do understand that kernal compilation with the drivers provides a speedier system, but heck our phones are packing a dual core and it's just linux and linux is quick by nature.
Just my thoughts.
