[Q] Moving from iTunes - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
Having moved over to an S3 from a iPhone... and leaving Apple forever... I'd like to get access to all my iTunes music. Don't care about playlists and stuff... just want the music.
Questions...
1. Is there a way of getting all the music out of iTunes and into another desktop replacement for iTunes?
2. Obviously I ultimately want to get all my music onto my S3... so bearing that in mind, what the best way of integrating my phone with a desktop music player?
Ultimately I want to completely uninstall iTunes and remove Apple from my life totally!!!
Many Thanks for your advice

Either find you itunes folder and place on device or upload to Google music And store it in da cloud

I should have said, I'm in the UK... and Google Music doesn't work here. So not an option.
There must a good way of transferring all my music from iTunes to a different desktop player which will integrate with an Android device?
Many Thanks

I'm in Spain and Google Music doesn't work from here either. But that didn't stopped me finding the apk on Google and installing it on my phone. Now Google Music works as charm lol.
Here, the apk: http://db.tt/WZvRMZ16

if you use a pc than you can use the windows media player to synchronize your phone with your local music library. since the galaxy s3 mounts as mtp device media player will recognize it when plugged in (while media player being open) and ask you if you want to sync your stuff onto it.
another method would be installing samsung kies onto your system. i think it can sync your media files to the phone as well.

if u want cable usb tranfer
winamp is ur best bet, its a bit buggy but it works.
if u want wireless tranfers. u now have 50gb+ on dropbox, buy dropsync from store.
it amazing. it only syncs what u need, do it over wifi, to save money.

Samsung Easy Phone Sync
I think this is what you're after
http://easyphonesync.com/
There is a desktop & phone app that does exactly what you need.
Recommended by Samsung when they released the S3 as a way of getting people off iphones when their main reason for not switching was "all my songs are in itunes"
I used it myself, worked perfect although depending on how much stuff yo have you may need an extra mem card:silly:
:good:

If your on windows then open the music folder and click folder properties and unhide all files. After you done that a folder called iTunes media will appear, Click it and all your songs are there.
If you're on mac then in the search preferences click unhide all files and click it, after that go to your music folder and find the iTunes media folder and drag all the music into your s3..

i use the app iSyncr from Google Play Store, it lets u sync your Playlists, albums, last played it also supports ratings and play counts.
there's also a wifi sync support.

Their is a thread possibly a sticky for moving from ITunes but it might be in SGS2 forum .

How can I sync my iTunes playlists with my SGS2?
Try iSyncr

as far as i know, you can't do this, the itunes music or movies has DRM protection. you only can play them on apple products.

They stopped DRM'ing Music a long time back, their movies are still DRM'd.
There are a number of options for sync'ing with iTunes, search the forums here, others have detailed methods (I'm not an iTunes user, so can't really help).
To be honest I think the best advice is to break the shackles and just tag your collection properly. Then it'll work with everything that isn't Apple with simple sideloading, and still work with Apple via iTunes.
the best way is copy all your music tracks, copy and paste to SD card, done. there's not much you need to do, just drag and drop.
As someone else has said, you can use iSyncr if all you're interested in is syncing playlists. Another option (and one that I use) is Salling Media Sync, which lets you sync iTunes playlists, podcasts and photos.
I use missing sync to sync my music folder in mac to sgs2. Works great

Syncing music and playlists

So what are my options for syncing music to my evo3d?
I know I can just mount USB and drag and drop files but I was hoping for something a bit more automated. I am especially interested in having playlists I make on the desktop available on the phone.

google music or amazon cloud sync or even zumocast
I use doubleTwist with the AirSync plug-in, it wirelessly syncs selected iTunes playlists to my phone.
Thanks for the suggestions but most seem to either involve iTunes or is some sort of streaming service.
I just bought a 32GB card specifically so I could carry my music on my phone, it's my primary portable music device. I don't have the best signal where I live so streaming is sort of out of the question for me because just as I get into the song, it will cut off and just ruin it lol
I am thinking of using SyncToy to sync the music folder on my desktop to my phone.
I could also do Spotify but I think it converts songs to 160kbps before syncing them and the songs aren't available to other music players because of the way it stores it.
No one has replicated on android what happens on the iPhone?

iTunes music

Hi, just recently switch from IOS to android and loving it. The note is so wonderful. One question, how can I transfer all my music, playlist, play count from iTunes to my note. I have about 7 gigs of music on iTunes and have no clue how to transfer the file over. Please help!

Try double twist or isync on market. U ain't saving them play counts though
Easier way:
Go to itunes and consolidate files (search Google on howto)
Then go to that file directory on your computer (perhaps C: >iTunes>media>music)
COPY AND PASTE THE MUSIC TO THE MEDIA FOLDER OF YOUR ANDROID PHONE
Or if you have an external sd card (which I highly suggest you get) just copy and paste with no orginization
That's IT.
When you buy new music from itunes (which in practice it only makes sence to buy it from Google now) repeat this process!
NOTE: CONSOLIDATING YOUR MUSIC WILL ADD MEMORY TO YOUR COMPUTER. NOT A BIG DEAL WHATSOEVER BUT I THOUGHT ID TELL YOU.
P.s.: don't use doubletwist its a pain in the ass unless you want 2 programs doing the same thing
Playlists function the same way except you must copy the music first onto your phone. once that's complete you have to export the playlist from itunes
(Right click playlist>export>search>choose file directory [wherever your music/media is])

Go to music.Google.com.
You can open a Google music account for free and download " music manager". (It will give you this option when you register). It will automatically add your entire iTunes library to Google server and you can then listen to your music anywhere on the stream with Google play music app. Might take a while to upload everything depending on the size of your library. And you can set it to automatically upload any files you add to your iTunes library from this point forward. It works flawlessly.
A gamechanger.

I use iSyncr. I let it automatically sync to iTunes every night at 12. It also syncs playlists too.

You can go onto Samsung Kies, Then connect your device Scroll down and then there's an option for back ups find your itunes iPhone back up and Convert it
Sorry That I can't go indepth my Phone is rooted / new rom So I can't connect. x)
There are many options(almost too many), but your best bet is google music. My wife has an iPod and every time she gets a new song it automatically uploads with music manager. You can't go wrong with this option because you never have to worry about it again. If you have no need for your iTunes account anymore then you can start buying all your content from google from here on out. Another plus is no space is taken up on your sd.

OK, but...
Please correct me if I am wrong, but one big downside I see to Google Music is that you are streaming (and not syncing) all your music, correct?
I don't mind putting another copy of my library in Google Music, but it would be much more useful to me if it had some sort of iCloud/iTunes Match functionality where the local library on the phone was automatically updated when on WiFi, etc.
I have "unlimited" data, so I really don't care, but I never liked the notion of streaming my music. I would prefer to have it local.
If there is an option to sync within Google Music and not a 3rd-party app, I would really like to hear more.
Thanks!
-Rob
It is absolutely that. A cloud service that stores all your media online. There is a way to make songs available offline on your phone, but I've never used it. I absolutely love it. Just download music manager to your PC or Mac and it will do the rest. Download the google music app to your phone(not a third party app) and all your iTunes songs will be there waiting for you.

Very nice to know. I assumed it did just that, but never tried. Thanks

Is there a setting that just automatically downloads all songs locally to the SD card though? I have tried manually making select songs available, but that isn't the point (for me). I want more automatic, iTunes-like syncing. If you have ever used iCloud or Match you would know what I am talking about.
I don't mind using iTunes to manage my media, I just want a way to sync all my devices (iOS and Android) and keep them in automatic sync. I don't mind downloading the song once, but I am not interested in streaming. I put 32 or 64GB SD cards in my devices because I want the content local at all times.
If anyone has a more automated workflow for that, I am very interested.
Thanks again!

I use notpod on my PC. Its easy to sync any android device and u just drag music to ur gnote from iTunes.

I use tunesync because I buy my music from Amazon, but still use itunes to manage my old jokes and ipad.
I also have a central sound system connected to my netbook, so the iOS remote app comes in handy.
Tunesync lets you automatically upload songs purchased from your phone to iTunes, and maintains play counts in itunes as well.

How to sync music with iTunes?

I want to sync all my music with iTunes since I have everything sorted through it (playlists, album art, etc). I don't like Kies at all and half the sync failed.
Anyone know a way to do so? Thanks.
Here is what you want: http://easyphonesync.com/index.html.
Download the program for your computer and then for your phone in the play store. Reviews are really good and should be exactly what you're looking for for free.
Please hit the thanks button if I've helped.
For what it's worth, that EasyPhoneSync didn't work for me. It spent 3 hours syncing ~40GB of music but when it finished it told me it couldn't sync any of it. Tried it twice with no luck.

That is what I used for the longest time. It's interface is also a good replication of iTunes UI. Best part, you pay for it and you can sync over wifi without having to connect through usb to your computer.
I personally have fully moved away from iTunes and couldn't be happier. I use MediaMonkey on my desktop to play/sort and everything, and I use Google Music to either stream or download for offline listening any songs/play lists I want. It's nice having access to my whole music collection from any computer with an Internet connection

I just copied and pasted all of my songs from iTunes into a Music folder and put them on my phones internal storage. Can't get any easier than that.
OP: Upload iTunes library to Google Play. Download App. Open App. Done.
Best part is, music doesn't take up any SD space.
Agree, using Google Play (music) is the easiest and best way. You can also access your music on any computer.

I think the best option is iSyncr and iSyncr Wifi. That has worked flawlessly for me. With Google Play I always get duplicates in the playlists.
I use audiogalaxy to stream music from my computer. Works great!

Hey guys I'm looking for an app that allows me to make playlists from my computer. I have Google play music but it is really buggy. I prefer making them from the computer because I don't like doing it from my phone.

I use Windows Media Player on my computer to manage my music and make playlists. When I got my Note 2 I just copied my entire Music folder over to the external SD card including the Playlists folder. The stock Samsung music player on the phone recognized all the playlists and it seems to be working fine although I haven't used it a ton.
Do you make like a music folder in the sd card then transfer the files over?
Sent from my Galaxy Note²
I have a "Music" folder on my SD card - all my songs sit there and the stock player pics them up. Should work for you.

With sync apps isyncr and TuneSync (which I use) you can select where the music is stored. Playlists do not require much data at all.
Thank you! I had isyncr on my desktop and just downloaded the paid app for my phone.
