Dear friend,
This is the tread on wakwlocks. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827676.
whether the comprehensive note found in the said thread equally applies to P7500 also?

On close study of the comprehensive note on wakelocks by T.J.Bender, now I understood the common causes for battery drain and their fix. I am able to fix some of the common wakelocks shown by BBS and my Tab's battery performance has been improved a lot. Big Thanks to T.J.Bender

[Q] Android OS question?

I'm rooted & on stock firmware ICS 4.0.3 XWLP7, I recently flashed JKays framework & deluxe settings for this firmware & I'm not really sure if that bares any significance to my problem! I'm experiencing quite high CPU usage (between 35%-45%! even if I kill all running processes/applications) over the last week or so & wondered if this is normal? I've also tried wiping battery stats & dalvik cache, & athough it helps a little, it only last for a small period of time, like an hour or so!? If someone could give me any clues as to why this may be happening I'd be greatfull!!

Instead of moaning that someone didn't respond in 30 minutes, do some reading and learning yourself.

tbh, oinky is right
i didnt ask for information, i said to use bbs and report back. i never said i would reply after that either
the point of my post was to get the info people will need to be able to help you
any problems related to battery drain will generally be resolved quicker with bbs stats
Thats not to say i use bbs myself

Anyone else have any clues to my problem besides Dark Agent? (& obviously oinky )
You should let your battery run down until it's almost dead and then show bbs stats.
Your phone is not sleeping properly because something is causing kernel wakelocks. You should Google those first 2 kernel wakelocks to try and find out what is causing them. The first one is related to apps and data usage. Use titanium backup to freeze rogue apps causing them.

Thats why i posted what i posted (and as i said, i dont use bbs myself)
From what I can gather (I might be wrong!) my problem seems to be related to data traffic, here: https://github.com/asksven/BetterBatteryStats-Knowledge-Base/wiki/svnet-dormancy
Does anyone know how to track down which app or service in particular may be be causing it?
TIA! ;
Based on your earlier post you will probably ignore this:
Are you switching your 2g/3g data OFF when not using the phone?
If you leave it on, loads of apps have the chance to check for updates/synchronise
turn off auto updates, syncing, wifi, 3g and anything else related to accessing the net for information

I don't think you can actually find which app it is without freezing all your user apps and trying one by one, which would be a pain. You could try reflashing clean and reinstalling all your apps clean. Could just freeze any apps you think might be the culprit and try one by one to narrow it down. Could also use Tasker or some other app to better control your data so you are not always connected. I leave my data off at all times and only turn it on when I am doing something that needs it.

Thanks, I thaught as much when I mentioned trying to narrow it down to a particular app! I've turned data transfer off when not using the phone now & I must say that it's made a significant difference, but I still don't fully understand why it started eating my battery/data all of a sudden like that, when I didn't change anything on the phone but install JKays framework & deluxe settings prior to this problem !
I like to receive my emails which is one reason for keeping data turned on, & I usually have it on GSM only unless I use the net without Wi Fi when I'm out & about!
I suppose I can only try different fixes & try & work out the best solution specific to my use of the phone huh!?

Battery Drain Issue Galaxy s3 i9305

Hi All,
I have the above phone and have noticed the battery draining very quickly.
I installed advanced task manager pro but the battery still drains.
Can someone please help me with this issue?
Cheers
The main thing that I did was disabling background location updating.. I've never had to do it with any of my previous Galaxy S phones (1, 2 or 3non4g), but had to with my i9305.
Maps -> Settings -> Location Reporting -> Location Reporting (under background location reporting) -> Do not update your location.
Made a *huge* difference for me.
Do you mean loaction settings > it says location sharing is off.

Unknown wakelock, GNexus

Hello all,
After searching Google for a long time and do plenty of research here and in other forums, I do not really know now what to do with my Galaxy Nexus... It is frustrating to me not knowing what keeps my phone awake.
I have BBS installed and looked after partial wakelocks but can't find anything unnormal. Only when I go to Kernel Wakelocks I can see "PowerManagerService.WakeLocks" is really high. (1h 16m at current). The highest entry in Partial Wakelocks is "ConnectivityService" with 4m 43s.
I tried to disable the Wifi location, disable everything in Android Device Manager... But it didn't help. I really can't reproduce it because I don't know what is going on.
The only thing I remeber I was doing before I noticed the wakelock was trying to open Google+ App and Youtube App without internet connection.
It would be great if you can help me find out, what's going wrong here...
Thank you!

I have it installed, too. But It says exactly the same thing as BBS... "PowerManagerService.WakeLocks" is active for more than 1h 50m, but no clue what is causing this and which app is not releasing it's wakelock.

I didn't install any app recently. I even did a full reset some days ago.
Is there a possibility to check which app opened a wakelock and didn't close it afterwards?

I'm not sure about the phone app, but you should try disabling some Google services with disable service or use Greenify donation edition to hibernate play services.

there is no problem with google play services, the phone app stays awake all time, even i dont use it,, the device dont get to deep sleep because of that ?
Any help ?
The mobile data and screen brightness are the biggest drainer of battery life by a mile.
I would only turn the brightness up on my phone when i use it then turn it down later.
You can restrict background data, this one is the holy grail in battery conservation. Unless you specify otherwise a lot of the apps that you have on your phone like Facebook Twitter and many many more will constantly try to connect to their servers to look if there is anything new to report. To do this hit you settings, Connections, Data usage, menu, then put a tick in Restrict background data to force your phone to stop syncing continuously.
:good:

I suggest you to install one or both of below free apps to monitor what is draining the battery:
- Battery Doctor(Battery Saver)
- GSam Battery Monitor
With the first one you can also set the option 'CPU Management=YES' so the phone can deep sleep
One the app is identify you can hibernate it to avoid running in background with the app 'Greenify'
Thanks.

Strange, maybe and issue with that specific S3 model.
I have tested CM, Slimkat, C-ROM, Carbon, Omegarom on S3 GT-I9300 and I havenĀ“t had that issue,
battery life is better than the stock rom.
Maybe you can try to run a cleaning kernel script before flashing if not done yet.
Use the betterbatterystats app i mentioned before to find out whats causing the phone app to stay awake.
Its all good to say the phone app is keeping it awake but you need to find the trigger or service that is doing so. The screen shots you are providing are basic and do not provide this, you need a log from this app.

Battery draining very fast when idle

Hi there. I have a Galaxy S 2 i9100 and its battery drains very fast even when on screen off and - theoretically - idle. I have taken the attached screenshots on GSAM Battery Stats to help me out finding out why it drains so fast, but honestly, I can't quite understand how the kernel or system OS drains it so much when not on. The graph shot also shows the phone considers itself "active" even when screen is off and I'm not using it. How can I know what uses the phone so much, and how to avoid it from doing so?
Thanks in advance!!!

Here is an article on wakelocks from XDA. You might find it interesting.
As to the wakelocks that are keeping your device awake, I'm not familiar with the app you are using. I use Better Battery Stats. You can find a free version here on XDA if you want to check it out. You need to check "kernel wakelocks" and "partial wakelocks" to find the problem app(s).

Hi noppy, thanks for your reply.
I installed the app you mentioned, but I am not sure if I have to wait more time or if the app works in a different way of the other battery stats apps I have used so far.
When I open it, it shows an yellow line saying "no stats have been collected yet".
If I open the graph option, I can see wakelocks are incredibly constant (I have attached the screenshots). I don't know how to work on that...
@ghnogueira
Have you got root access? Did you install BBS as a system app when you first opened the app, then reboot? This is the normal setup for me. Once you have rebooted the device, BBS will start collecting data and then reset every time you interupt the discharge cycle(eg. by plugging in to recharge or to a pc).
But you will need root access for the app to find the issues.

OK, I'm using v2.1.0, which explains the slightly different look. I noticed in the changelogs, they changed "other" to "summary", and also doesn't require installing as a system app. But that doesn't explain why it's not working for you. You could try uninstalling that one and installing the older version and see if that works.......or you could search on that thread for any clue or post if there is no mention of the same problem......

I used to have that app installed, and it is the "kernel" or "android system" that keeps it awake. But my real doubt is what can I do to stop that from happening? What is within my hands?
