[Q] [GSM/EU]Software update failed - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi guys... hope that this post reads also someone from development. If it should be placed there, please move it.
So, here is my problem:
I`m having rooted Razr and OTA update comes to my region. I downloaded update and tried to update, but it failed. I didn't uninstall any of bloatware, just frozen it, but even after unfreezing it won't do update as well. I red some manuals and so on, so i removed bootstrap recovery also but still the same. Looks, that I need to re-install original FW to make it working - right?
I checked possibilities and there are not too many. RAZR utility 1.6 it is not possible download anywhere - links are mostly broken and 1.7 is for ICS only, so only options is using of RSDLite. I found following "tutorial" about RSDLite. I'm almost sure, that after update there wouldn't be possibility to update for a while, so I kept original downloaded OTA update ZIP, but do not know what to do with.
Could somebody say, if it is correct way how to update to ICS? Do I really needs to reflash original ROM and than try to update it to ICS via OTA? Is there some easy way to update if I have downloaded OTA update ZIP?
Some ideas?
Sorry for English...

Update Won't downlaod

I'm Stock Rooted. 3e recovery.
Its says I have an update available but it wont let me download it?? I tried getting back to Stock un-rooted but mega upload or something is not working.
How do I get the update?
A) You don't want it. Lots of bugs.
B) This is covered in the sticky.
C) The Megaupload links can be found if you look...and search.
D) You can't update it if you have rooted and removed any of the stock software. The download will fail.
E) Search before starting new threads.
Ya, the update is for the KK6 2.3.6 update that is terribly broken, you dont want it. I suggest staying on 2.3.4 or if you're going to flash a new rom anyway, upgrade to ICS which is 4.0.3 and will be much better than the stupid update AT&T is trying to pass off as an "update".
Thread closed.

[Q] Looks like im gonna need help in the near future.

Ok, so here is the deal, I understand that somewhere in the hay stack of this forum is instructions on how I am going to make this happen but I have ADD and can't keep focus lurking the forum for answers so here it is. Looks like the ICS update is almost ready to roll out for razr so...........
I have a Droid Razr
Rooted
System Version 6.12.173.XT912
Android Version 2.3.6
Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-g61e3522
I can install System version 6.12.181 but I'm not going to because the last time I did a system update I lost root on my phone and was a ***** to get it back to root. But the notification to update my phone every 12 hrs is getting annoying.
So when ICS rolls out what are my options to get the update installed?
Do I need to unroot my phone. If so how do I do this?
Do I need to update the system version to 6.12.181 before I update to ICS?
How can I Update to 6.12.181 safely?
Will there be a version of the ICS update that I can install while still rooted?
Thank you to anyone that take the time to help out with my questions ahead of time. I feel I would rather be prepared then to come up with a problem later. Also I apologize if this has already been addressed.

Voodoo rootkeeper will keep your root from .173 to .181 no problem. Not sure what you're asking for in the first question, you options will be to update or not. Using voodoo rootkeeper you SHOULD be able to unroot (with backup), update to ICS, then re-root however it's unknown if this method will work 100% until ICS comes out.
You shouldn't have to update to .181 to get ICS because ICS will completely wipe whatever is in the system folders (shouldn't matter what version you're on), however you might not see ICS OTA update until you update to .181. Again, won't know until it happens
Here are a few words of wisdom:
1) When rooting, always install the latest Motorola USB drivers, available here : http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-...tware_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers
2) Before applying OTA, download a free program called OTA Rootkeeper, follow the procedure, backup your root, then do a "temp unroot" and then restore root.
2) After restoring root on a newly updated OS, always install the superuser program and rerun the su binary update. Even if it is up to date, reapply the update to make sure it works properly. Afterwards, reinstall busybox.
3) All OTAs are incremental updates (this reduces their size). You need to update to every OTA before applying the next OTA. The only way to bypass an OTA would be to fastboot the device to a newer version, but you would lose all of your information.
4) We're here for you! If you have any troubles, just come back.
Here's my opinion.
When the OTA is released, fb to stock 181 then download the OTA.
Rooting with the utilities available today takes about 5 minutes and punching about 4 keys on your computer.

[Q] How to update to JB from ICS ?

I want to update my dad's gsm razr to JB.
currently it is running ICS.
Is there any way to officialy update withough too much tricks and problems ?
Check your system version in the settings, it must be like Retail.en.EU or Vodafone.en.EU, if it is, tap on the system updates, if it doesnt, you must flash using the rsd lite, and update it. If it doesnt found the update, you must put the OTA file in the sdcard and flash it in the stock recovery.
And also, don't be so lazy.
Thanks ! I had an Israeli operator rom.
I flashed the EU version via RSD and then installed the update via stock recovery

[Q] Can I update without unrooting?

Hey, I'm rooted and s-off, running (firmware, I think) 2.06.605.1 710RD. I've been ignoring the software update Verizon sent out a while ago by pressing the home button on my phone whenever the update popup appears, but I'd like to make it go away for good, and the best way to do that is to update.
The thing is, I'd like to do it without the hassle of unrooting and going back to s-on (if I even need to do that) to update, then getting s-off and root again. I heard it's possible if you flash a pre-rooted ROM of the update through a custom recovery, and I found a pre-rooted, updated rom a while ago on the forum, but now I can't find it. The update is called HTC6435LVW_2.07.605.1-2.06.605.1.
First of all, will this work?
Secondly, I'm going to keep searching for the 2.07 rom, but can anyone let me know if they have a link to the thread?
Thanks for your help.
Edit 2: To all who saw my first edit, I have confirmed that this is the TTY update, not the 4.2.2 update. However, I think the 4.2.2 update will be available after I flash the 2.07 update, so please let me know if flashing a pre-rooted rom still works for entire OS updates (and if there even is a pre-rooted rom for 4.2.2 yet).
Edit 3: Wow, I should have finished reading xda's article on the subject before I edited last time. Apparently there's already a pre-rooted rom for the 4.2.2 update, so that won't be a problem. Ok, that should be all.

Can't update firmware, please help

Hi all,
I'm trying to update firmware on my Droid DNA. Currently I have firmware version 2.08.605.1, the latest before the last OTA update. Now i want to use RUU to try to update to version 3.06.605.4. It fails with error that I got wrong RUU, but I'm positive it is a correct one, because it shows firmware version. OTA updates are not working, showing me no updates. However, under Software update -> Status I see that the update was rejected by user some time ago. As far as I know there must be an option to install rejected updates, but it simply isn't there. Not sure what to do next. Please, help.

Nevermind now, I resolved the issue by first gaining s-off and then using the alternative method for firmware flash by using adb and fastboot in cle that can be found here on forums easily (latest ota for DNA).
