[Q] 6.7.2-180_SPU-19-TA-11.6 ota from 6.7.2-180_SPU-19-TA-11.2. what's new??? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi there, guys!
As stated in the subject, about an hour ago, I got an update notice and successfully updated using OTA from 6.7.2-180_SPU-19-TA-11.2 to 6.7.2-180_SPU-19-TA-11.6.
Is there any changelog about what has been fixed with this version? I clicked on the release notes link and it said that with this update I will get Android 4.0.4. But my previous version was already 4.0.4.
Not a big deal - just curious to find out what has been improved (I think it is now a bit faster, but it may be just my idea, since phone's uptime before this update was about 20 days..)

It's just the update from 180.33 to 180.41. Some small changes, e.g. new kernel. And this is the final ICS update rollout.

Ok thanks for the info
I guess then I won't see any big advantages/disadvantages ...

Same thing happened to me today, it appears that everyone in Greece will get this update today. But of course, I couldn't wait, so I got ICS two months ago.
So, I would be very grateful if someone could post anything related to the differences between these two ROMs, problems encountered or bugfixes in the new version. The old 672-180_SPU-19-TA-11.2 works very well here, except for that damn bug where media wont play on the speakers until you plug and remove headset. If the newer version doesn't fix that, is there any other solid reason to risk updating? I've backed up the root, just in case.

Just update and test, there are fastboot files for both versions available.

Face unlock works, haven't seen much else yet. Will keep testing.

got the same this morning
thought it was JB though...lol

I updated yesterday and it actually did solve my problem with audio not rauring correctly. However, it made worse the problem with headset detection, now I have to insert it several times and wiggle it a bit until phone detects it, but it's lesser of two evils.

No Sound HomeBase just like stock?

Latest HomeBase (BLUR with kernel). When I first got the phone after a few hours you cannot hear or speak. You have to restart the phone in order to make or take a phone call. Assumed using a new rom would fix it considering the Sprint OTA fixed it but I still have the issue. After anywhere between 2 hours and 8 hours of the phone being on is when the problems start.
It was my understanding this was Software related but after trying a few roms with the same problem I don't know? Should I just go back to stock and install the OTA? Roms are cool but being able to talk is better.
I would. Also you should have posted this in the Q&A section or in the homebase rom thread.

What version of the Home Base rom are you on? I'm on v1.5 with the 4.2 update and have no issues. So perhaps you could try that one? And I had that issue until the OTA update too.

To start, this isnt any type of development so it should be posted in general....
My question to you is do you have a Sprint airave in your home? That was the issue i had. If the problem is in custom roms try stock again.

I've recently flashed v1.5 and updated with 4.2. Loved it except that when I tried to download anything in the market it would tell me that there was insufficient space on my device. I had even reformatted my external and internal storage. Then I tried using the marketfix.zip. It would say it was downloading and then disappear from my notifications. I was wondering if you were having this problem at all?
The only time I have had a market issue was when I first flashes the ROM and it was the old market then it dud a little song and dance and ypdated to the new market at which point anything I was downloading prior was gone. But after that haven't had any issues. Is this the issue you are having? If not.....try to reflash the ROM

[Q] What did OFFICIAL OTA build 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6 fix for you? Not Pre Release sbf

I started this thread to note fixes or not the OFFICIAL OTA release on or about 101211 accomplished without having to manually run the pre release/leaked sbf, This way we can rule out any problems associated with that process as the cause. I have tested the following fixes successfully and my phone is rooted:
Voicemail played on my BT headset more than once without rebooting unexpectedly.
Stay awake while charged remains checked after opening kickstand.
Calls have not dropped yet so I am encouraged.
I can't even get my damn thing to go. I supposedly started it about 5 hours ago and haven't seen a single status message since. Whenever I go back into Update Motorola Software it says I can't because an update is already in progress... Yeah it's cool they're putting out updates to fix problems but 1. It's nice not to have problems in the first place and 2. It would be cool if they would actually download.
This isn't the first update that's sat there and stared at me for hours.

The leaked SBF and the OTA SBF are exactly the same. Exactly. You can verify the hashes yourself if you like. See link below.
If you can't get the OTA to download/install correctly, just download RSD Lite and the SBF from the dev forums and flash it manually with RSD lite. That works very reliably. See below.

This OTA was a pain for me too. After 12 hours of overnight nothing, pulled the battery and 3 hours later it worked. Not saying the battery pull was needed. Something different/wrong about this one.
So far, I'm seeing faster data (3G & WiFi, no 4G in my area yet), and all around snappier response. Let alone the obvious, like VIDEO CHAT! (That's huge for me, since my daughter lives 2,000 miles away from me, and I really only get to see her on webcam).

You're missing the point...
This thread was not started because I thought there was a difference in the builds. This thread was started because there is a difference in what one must do to install the updates. Installing the Official OTA eliminates any problem one may have run into using RSDlite as the reason the build did not fix whatever they hoped it would. Not to mention the fact the pre-release thread is 80 frigging pages long, predates the 101211 release date and refers to steps one would not see/experience downloading or installing the Official OTA update.

I don't think you understand. There is no difference in terms of actual changes made to the phone between OTA and manually flashing through RSD.
The SBF contains everything on the phone, system image, radio changes, etc. Everything. You can completely wipe the phone clean and the SBF will give you back a stock working phone exactly as if you had Motorola do the OTA.
Now, if you are having trouble using RSD Lite, that's an issue with RSD Lite. Post the errors and we might be able to help.
Big fix for me was that I can now answer the phone in the car dock and play sound through the car speakers. Before, if you tried that (by hitting the speaker button), the mic wouldn't function.

Do you.mean the stock gallery or 3D gallery? I'm not having this problem, but have in the past with the 3D gallery. To fix it, I had to uninstall and reinstall the 3D gallery.

Lost GPS (lock) After ICS Update AT&T

I updated to the latest AT&T ROM (via Kies) after the update I can no longer get a GPS lock (picked up one lock after 2 hours). After reading several posts it would appear folks were / are having the same issue on the L5 ROM.
Would it be reasonable to exchange the (warranty) phone for another one or do you think I will get the same issue on the next one?
- GPS worked fine while on Gingerbread
Thanks
I'm too having same problems. Turning phone off then on seems to help some. Sigh

Sense 4 Issues

Hi I have a s-off, rooted rezound. I never actually put the ics firmware onto it (still not exactly clear on how to do it). However I installed a few sense 4 roms and while most worked perfectly fine, all of them had the issue with the camera fc and crashing. I installed the camera that was posted as a fix to no avail. Do I need to update the firmware and how (detailed please, sorta new at this), or will I be stuck using desensed roms till the devs fix it?
Not positive but fc'ing cam is a sense 4 bug.

If you have face detection on, it could crash the camera.

The camera seems to be an issue. Some say to uncheck face recognition and then it works...I don't know. Mine works when I've needed it. Some also have had luck with 3rd party apps. Eventually it will get fixed. You don't have to 'fall back' to a desensed rom, there are several good roms out there not using sense 4.0.
Update the firmware..? Well, there is a post today hinting at something coming in the next two weeks. Perhaps the long awaited OTA. So you should update to the new firmware. Either with the update or with one of the leaks. NilsP has some instructions on running the RUU in post #3 of one of his ROMS...the sense 4 one I think. Check it out if you want.
That's odd. I've ran all the sense 4 roms here and the only one that gives me problems is one xxx but is rare.

I'll have to check the face recognition, I wasn't using it but it's worth a shot.
Anyone know of any hq camera apps to use if the default fcs again?
FYI - Since you're s-off, you don't need to flash a whole RUU to get the latest firmware, take a look at this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614366&highlight=firmware
Since you are running ICS on GB firmware, if you update, you need to flash the New firmware patch afterwards to revert what the old firmware patch does.
It won't help with your camera most likely cause as others has mentioned, it's a issue with Sense 4 roms for now, this makes it easier to upgrade though.
thanks mjones finally updating the firmware

Hey all,
As some of you have already noted, an update is available for the Samsung Galaxy SII.
The update includes fixes for devices that may become unresponsive and/or power down while sitting idle on rare occasions. It also enhances security to protect against malware vulnerability. You will receive a notification on your phone to update.
NOTE - You must have updated to Android version 4.0 to receive notification of the new software update
From community manager on ATT forums:

What a complete waste. Sprint just pushed 4.1.2 to their gs2.

By rare, they must mean multiple times a day... hope that finally fixes the problem...
Had my hopes up for JB even though I know the phone will not get it from AT&T.
I guess it is good that they are still trying to improve the phone.

There's at least as much cya and marketing motivation involved as anything else.
I previously rooted and flashed Siyah 4.3.3 which resolved my issue with the sleep of death. This seems to prevent this new update from installing as when the phone reboots it shows the Siyah boot image and then boots back into the OS, when I unlock the phone it tells me that the update failed to install. I'm not in a hurry to install an update that resolves something I've fixed through other means, but I thought I'd share for those interested.

You really shouldn't accept OTA updates unless you are 100% stock.

You really CAN'T accept them if you remove system bloat ware or change kernels far as I know.
Hopefully it fixes the SOD problem. I was getting ready to call or go to AT&T and demand I be let out of my contract.

This has been happening to me for the past few months, on more than "rare occassions" though. I never knew what to call it until I saw people on here refer to it as Sleep of Death. Yep, sounds about right. And it would rapidly drain my battery when it happened.
I've successfully updated, so hopefully this will take care of it. It gets VERY annoying! And all the much worse since I use my phone for my alarm, haha. I have my wife's as a backup though.
Anyone pull the modem yet?

I'm only a curious now, about whether this fixes the SOD. After hours on the phone with ATT and Samsung, and a few factory resets and a new phone, it was still doing it. And each time I called them about it, they'd say they were not aware of such a problem. Anyway, not an issue anymore for me, since going to Task's AOKP ROM, which got me so many better features than an ATT update ever would have - warranty or no.
The only reason why this OTA was pushed was because a ton of users were posting this issue on the ATT forums for 4 months straight. Even then ATT pushes an OTA for 4.0.4 instead of using one of the many 4.1.2 firmwares from Samsung.

My understanding is that it is up to Samsung to produce the firmware, and because it's a carrier-branded device, I have a hard time believing that they'd do that unless instructed to.
Really? You think Samsung is the one making the decision? Its really the carrier.
Can someone pull the modem from this update? Pm or post a download link once extracted please.
