[Q] Running ICS on Samsung Ace, has sound but NO VOICE SEARCH! HELP - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I'm so new to this so please bare with me. I have a Samsung ace s5830.
Info: model GT S5830, Android Version 4.0.4 Baseband version s5830XWKPA Kernel Version 2.6.35.14-maclawstudios [email protected]) #1 preempt Sun Sept 2 20:23:04 cest 2012 CPU armv6-compatible processor rev 5 (v6I) memory 278 cyanogenMod version: 9-20120901-unofficial-cooper build date sob1 wrz2012. 12:30:12 cest build number imm76l
Yesterday I rooted and installed the ICS on my Samsung Ace. It works! However.....camera works, volume works, speaker works as I can make calls and listen to sound but one thing that's baffled me is the Mic. It doesn't matter which voice recognition software I use, Google, Iris, it doesn't seem to work? It's telling MicOff, and even voice search for google isn't working.
The google search voice box is sitting on the home screen, however when I press the mic icon, it tells me speak yet there is no mic picture. In fact it's only a blank grey box.
I've had a disruptive day, looking for the best past of a day trying to figure it out or look for a solution. I cannot disable or enable many voice controls in settings because there doesn't seem to be one unless I'm looking in the completely wrong place.
If this article has been already published links would be welcome to take me into the right area to sort this out.
Please I need a solution it's driving me mad!,! I know I can trust you guys.
Many thanks, Sem. (no IT expert although I can get around it. I used to work for Fuji as first female engineer.....I was a model once too y'know....I know what a step forward lol) thanks guys xx

[Q] Talkonaut not working on galaxy S2

Hi,
I am trying use talkonaut for my gtalk2voip on my new Samsung Galaxy S II running on android 2.3.3
What i have noticed is that although i am able to place a call, the other party cannot hear my voice whereas I can hear them quite clearly. I think this related to
Android Os 2.3.3 only. As my sister who has Samsung wave running on android 2.2 and my wife who is having Xperia Mini running on Os 2.1 are able to make calls without any problem.
Any ideas ?
Please dont suggest to use some other voip service, as i am living in UAE and voip services are as such almost bannned here.... Besides gtalktovoip is the cheapest voip i have known so far, I have tried to use Nimbuzz, fring etc, to login into google talk so that i can use gtalk2voip.... but they dont seem to work at all..
vbuzzer, skype are all too costly...
try flashng a 2.3.4 rom to see if that fixes the problem.
I am using GalnetMIUI and using the 2.3.5 version. Even i face the same problem and i think it is because UAE is blocking some port.
To overcome the problem i use Gtalk Voice Chat feature using gtalk2voip.
Hi,
Did you get a solution to your problem? I recently got the S2 and seem to face the exact same problem. Im living in UAE too. My friend who is using the same software on his iPhone 3 seems to have no issues at all. Please do let me know.
Cheers!

Android - iGO 8.4.3 voice problem

Hi,
I am using iGO 8.4.3 Android on my Samsung Galaxy S2. When it was on Android 2.3 it worked perfectly but since I upgraded to Android 4.0.3 I have a weird voice problem - the navigation instructions are spoken very very slow (one word then pause of 1-2 secs and then another word).
The app is almost unusable like this - when it instructs to get out of the highway, there is a chance that you can pass the exit before the app finishes the talking instructions.
I looked all over the net but I didn't find any response.
Do you have any ideea?
Thanks
You're using commercial software on presumably a stock ROM, so why come to a development forum for support? Contact the company you "bought" it from.

Hi,
Actually I am using it on a custom ROM - Resurrection Remix ICS ROM.
Just thought that maybe somebody else encountered the problem and know how to solve it. I am not the only one with this issue but I couldn't find any response to it ...
Thnks
My answer still applies, contact the company you bought it from for support.
(Resurrection Remix is 4.0.4 not 4.0.3 btw)

Weird WhatsApp voice notes bug

Hi community, hope you can help me out on this one.
I've recently acquired a new Galaxy S9+, model number SM-G9650 (Latin America and China models) and I'm getting an error in the WhatsApp app in which it doesn't let me listen to my sent voice messages, with a message popping up saying "it doesn't exist on my SD card". Everything else in the app works the way it should; even the receiver can listen to the voice message, but I can't. Phone is running stock Android 8.0, updated with the latest firmware.
I don't know if here is the right place to ask this but I've never had error before in any phone I used, plus I can't find anything on Google, so sorry in advance if that's the case.
Thanks!
Edit: I just noticed I can only listen to voice messages of no more than 1 second. I'm clueless.
Confirmed the bug on a stock Nougat Lenovo vibe k6. Clueless also.

Samsung S phone or Google phone app port to block SPAM calls

Hello folks,
For few month now, I get random calls where there is only 2 to 3 number difference between my phone number and the caller number. I usually do not answer and I turned off my voicemail as well. If I answer the phone, the line cuts off right away.
I used to use Hiya app but it has lost the edge that it had in the past.
I came across an article from The Verge (https://www.theverge.com/2018/3/6/1...op-block-robocalls-robots-scam-iphone-android) that Google's phone app and Samsung's S phone app has in built spam call blocker. I knew of Google's app but not Samsung's.
I am running Optimized Lineage OS 15.1 on my Galaxy S4 Play Edition. Any possibility that either of the above mentioned apps have been ported?
Anybody else getting similar calls and found a solution?
Thanks in advance.

While I'm on a call, I can't use voice search. I used to be able to use voice search

When I call my girlfriend/friends I like to read the news and search things up as we talk. As you can imagine, I prefer using VOICE SEARCH as opposed to TYPING.
Well what do you know... ANDROID made it where if I'm on a phone call, I cannot use my VOICE SEARCH feature. I was always able to do this on my Samsung S8+. I bought a OnePlus 7T and now I am not able to do this.
I was about to return my phone for that reason but when I went to the Verizon store and tested out the new SAMSUNG S20 ULTRA, it's the same thing. It seems the "geniuses" at Google disabled this feature for whatever reason. Please tell me there is a way around this.
I have already deleted and disabled Google Chrome and Google Search widget because I can't watch videos while I'm on a phone call. I've confirmed this is the case with all the recent Android phones out. I found a fix around that though: FIREFOX and FIREFOX SEARCH WIDGET.
I'm losing my mind I am starting to hate Android more and more they keep making our lives more difficult. Please help me before I switch to an Apple device!
My phone info:
OnePlus 7T (model HD1905)
Build:
Oxygen OS 10.0.9.HD65AA
Android Version:
10
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!

On my note 8 I used to have a problem that irritated me. From time to time google assistant will pop up when I am using speaker phone..
Sometimes it's bixby..
It is very irritating. Then the problem just vanished. Wasn't really paying attention so im not sure which update removed it.
But to me it's nice that it's removed.
You might want to check if siri will work while on the phone before switching camps.

Thank you for the response.
It has nothing to do with the voice search app. it seems when I am on a phone call my microphone is disabled for any type of voice input other than talking on the phone call. It doesn't matter what the app is. This wasn't the case on my Galaxy s8 plus and I have confirmed that this is the case for the new Galaxy s20 as well.
