Pic message stuck in "downloading" - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Anything I can do?
I have tried both Go SMS and regular native messaging app.
Normally when I get an MMS, it rings twice.
Once when it arrives and second when it downloads.
And I got a really important pic message that won't download.
HAAALP!
(Probably wrong section but no one visits Q&A.)

Restart your phone and it will download all over again automatically. Wait for it to dl and give you the notification before opening the SMS app.

I've had this happen to me a bunch of times. I usually have to get the person to resend it. Would be awesome if anyone had a solution/fix.

Oh YOU DOG! Lol.
Restarting didn't fix the problem for me either.

Toggle wifi, mobile networks, and airplane mode until it works.
I've had this happen to me too, heck it happened last night.
And yeah, she wouldn't resend them either

I have been all day bro. It's not working.
Any other suggestions y'all?
I know the picture comes thru a Sprint network.
And Using Handcent, I was able to find the URL for the pic. But when I visit it, it just downloads a file to my phone/computer that I cannot open.

Is it off the sprint site? U try logging into your account and then accessing the file? I remember back in the day u used to be able to view all picture mail on sprint website. But that was when picmail was really only email link with thumbnails.
I know its kinda awkward to ask her to send it again, but hey, if u have no other choice? Maybe abduct her phone when she's in bathroom and send it to your email, lol. That way it should pretty much always go thru.

Free mobile data ?

Hello forum. I didnt knew what just happened and where to post it so i wanted to share it here !
As a first, i live in germany and use E-plus as my phine carrier. We got a thingie also, 0.facebook.com . It is free for us, and we can use it even when having no money on outlr phone. So for a couple if days in doing so, having 0.03 euros on my conto. Today, when i was sitting home and playing a game on my phone, the browser with facebook open in the background, i suddenly got a gtalk message, and then the whole internet connected ! I chatted and browsed a bit, but the my dad called me and i turned off mobile data after the call because i had to go out. When returning and turning it back on, i couldnt connect to anything besides 0.facebook.com again. After trying random APN's and proxies, i returned to tue standart eplus one and after heading to the site, i got a message again ! And the whole internet ! Im using it for a bit now and actually writing from it.
Everything i can say is, that background data was on, autosync was OFF, google talk kept trying to connect, and i was using the free website.
Anyone can figure out what is this, and if we can use it ?

All of it... at once... it was like reaching nirvana! LOLOL
Sorry, had to make the joke...
Just about every carrier has a "grace" on the request of data when you connect to their APN, basically, you add the APN, start browsing, and it takes them a few minutes to realize your phone shouldn't have access before they cut you off.

Bump, anyone ?

[Q]

I have agalaxy s2 and have the GPRS pack enabled from Vodafone.
Every 2 minutes my phone flashes with a message about the usage of gprs data and how much i have left. This causes screen to come on and phone to vibrate. This message is similar to the balance messages sent by network after each call (not an sms, just message with OK button)
Any option to disable these messages. Everyone i know if being annoyed with this.
Vodafone India tells me they dont know how these messages can be stopped.
Is there an app or something that can block these ?
This is happening because you might have installed Juice Defender or similar software that switches off your 3G/Edge (data) connection when your screen is turned off. There are 2 options for you to try:
1. Ensure that your data connection is always ON even after you turn off the screen. OR
2. If you are rooted, try this app: Prepay Widget
https://market.android.com/details?...EsImZhaHJib3QuYXBwcy51c3NkLndpZGdldC5saXRlIl0.
It might work even if you are not rooted. Give it a try.

Hi I would like to see a solution for this too. Not that I get those messages now and then, but whenever sending an sms I get a box like that telling I have been changed 0.00 rs which is actually annoying. I will try the app, however there any other way than rooting to stop the pop up?
@OP u got sense 3.0 UI in GS2?
got a reply from Vodafone email support that it cant be turned off.
wonder if there is an app that that block these messages.
I've turned off battery apps like Juice defender so i dont get many notifications
A tech rep saying it can't be done is a worthless response.
At the very least you could investigate options like:
Removing the process via Root Explorer (or similar app)
Freeze whatever the app or process is that is doing this in Titanium Backup.
Flashing to a stock (non-branded) firmware that doesn't include this crap.
Flashing to a custom firmware that doesn't include this crap
Its not a installed app that is doing this ! The service provider sends a flash message with the usage details.
Isnt there any apps that can block these. I'm sure it will be very popular with Vodafone users if someone makes one.
There should be some kind of MOD to push the pop up message mentioned by the OP in the first post to the notification bar at least.

Very simple battery life trick

This is a simple trick I use when I am near a computer anyway to save battery life. Its so simple it hurts. And I'm sure most already know how.
Go to settings>accounts&sync > turn off auto sync. There you go.
I usually do not charge my phone for couple days unless I get flash happy trying to fix problems.
What is the point of having a smartphone if you don't have things syncing? Seems extremely pointless to me.

turning off the phone also works really well...as does avoiding all web surfing, music and video playing...lol
you guys missed the point where i said when i'm around a computer. Like when i'm at home, i'm usually logged into this site, gmail and 4 other sites, so no point in having my phone auto sync. You can always manually sync every couple of hours.
This was a suggestion for people that are looking to get a little extra battery life, not for sneers and condescending little remarks that are unhelpful.
If you have something negative to say. Please keep it to yourself.

No, it does not. During airplane mode, you cannot send recieve text, or send and recv calls. Also data features during gameplay does not work in airplane mode.
Look guys if you don't have anything positive to add. Then please don't add it.

At my work there's only 2G but my phone signal is fine. So I drop my radio to CDMA ONLY (1X). They have a 3G WiFi so I connect my Nexus 7 and I go one further after I disable Sync on my power widget control, I disable Mobile data. Its redundant, my tablet has all email and internet functions. My phone still works fine for calls, text messaging and I can even take a picture and send/receive it mms, even with Mobile data off. When I send or receive an MMS, the 1X icon pops up so it accesses the internet for that task then goes back to being off. I have no problem making my super phone a dumb phone when I don't need the internet tapped to my hip for no reason, I'd rather get better battery life! As soon as I need to, I can go right back to super phone, but you can't do that with a dumb phone
I do turn of the sync do my battery can go further since I'm not always around a plug and still don't turn it on since I don't like my notification bar cluttered. So I turn off the mobile network and WiFi when I don't use them.

This is a good idea, particularly if you couple it with something like Tasker or Locale, so that auto-sync is automatically turned off when you are at certain locations... (like home or the office).
what exactly does the sync toggle feature disable? when it comes to google services?

Whatsapp with wifi works incredibly weird

Hello, well this happens almost everyday. When im on whatsapp conected through wifi, theres a long period of time in which i cannot send nor receive messages, as if i wasnt even connected to the internet. Once it magically connects, whatsapp all of a sudden receives all my messages and sends every message i tried to send earlier. However, this does not happen on the browser or any other app that uses internet, it only happens with whatsapp. i thing this happens after long periods of inactivity, not sure tho. It is pretty hard to explain so sorry if u didnt even get it.
maybe i have to change some setting on the router or something ? thanks

I know exactly what you mean because I have exactly the same problem. I got the problem when I upgraded my rom from v13 to the latest Android Revolution HD 31.3 for my HTC One X. I have installed the firmware and everything, not exactly the first rom I've ever upgraded. No solution though :l
