Same issue here, it installs but can't use full app lime backup etc..
I'm now using clockwork recovery touch 6. Something.
Get the .tar flash it with Odin or mobile Odin, it's pretty much the same
Just enter recovery by power home and volume up when device is off

I got it from your drop, it installed but get the same error that I get from the cf root 6.4 package .

It won't be fully compatible until Chainfire updates it for JB.

Yeah thought as much, I prefer CWM in os, also I hear it's not compatible with clockwork recovery touch too

Help needed for cwm recovery.

My cwm recovery used to work it was the latest version. Recently I tried using rom manager to flash my first rom. Well it turns out that I think rom manager screwed up my cwm recovery. Now every time I go into recovery it just shows pixels like appearing lil by lil and it turns green. Any way to fix this? And I was wondering if I re install cwm the way I did before with Odin will it mess my phone up? Or will it work. Help!!

Try reflashing your phone with an official firmware then Root it like how you did before and install CWM. It will work.
Next time dont mess with Rom Manager when you already have CWM.

Then there is nothing to worry. Download the official firmware, Flash it via Odin, (CWM would be removed) Wipe from recovery, Reboot.
Then root it and Install CWM like normal how you did it before.
Will work 100% !

Yupp I flashed an official firmware and then had to root it again and re install cwm recovery and my phone is back how it used to be thanks!

Try Rom Manager from Play Store.
You can boot in touch recovery by turning off your phone, then press and hold power button + home button + volume up
Wait until the recovery shows up and release your fingers.
Edit: Or just reflash cwm recovery using cwm apps if you want to use cwm apps for backup/restore

As I suggested earlier, use ROM Manager.
ROM manager is not the way I would suggest as it doesn't support many phones and is known to have caused a few bricks! Best bet Google! Find your recovery flash it thru the one u have if possible, or do it thru bootload USB

This.
Don't use ROM manager to flash anything.
@OP just flash cf-root, that installs recovery when you flash it

There's a chance of it going wrong and bricking your phone, a lot of people will tell you not to use ROM manager to flash anything, downloading stuff with it is fine, but flash through cwm.
Better to be safe than sorry.

I used Mobile odin pro flash XX.zar
but it can not open XX.zar maybe it only can flash.tar
you need root to use mobile Odin
Edit.I'm guessing you used the new root only cf?
Flash a recovery using mobile Odin pro and you're done.

[Q] Replace recovery.img in zip

Hi.
I'm looking for confirmation.
I downloaded the latest cwm touch recovery from their site. It's a img file.
I'd like to flash it from recovery. Is it safe to replace the img from the zip file from another recovery with the cwm one?
It should work, but is there anything I need to pay attention to?
Thanks!

Just flash with mobile Odin
safer to download a flashable zip version of the recovery
True, but I didn't manage to find yet.

You do know their official app 'rom manager' supports clockworkmod installing AND updating and when u start it it shows you if you have the latest recovery mod installed?:banghead:

Yes I am aware of that. Too bad I am to cheap to pay for the premium version which allows the automated flashing of the touch version.

Touch version, in my opionion, is worse than non touch. Roms are for theming and fun, launchers as well.
Clockworkmod and RECOVERY states are for serious stuff, a wrong touch and u can damage your phone. Much better to have to press the buttons...

But yeah try to flash. The worst is you wont be able to flash it or ur clockworkmod will stop working. In that case get to pc and reflash older clockwork mod by following a safe guide....

Used TWRP or CWM Touch on thousands of flashed never a problem.
Any miss hit is not going to damage your phone and i find with TRWP you are less likely to miss the correct sequence as you always hit the right buttons .

Just to answer to the original question, yes it should be safe. I have done so many times with twrp and it has always worked.
