Google Now with CM9 - HTC Rezound

Hi everyone,
I am coming from Viper and trying out CM9 for the first time. I just flashed CyanogenMod 9 Unofficial Build and wanted to see if I could flash the fully working Google Now on it?
I tried other CM9's in the mega thread but I seem to like this one the best.
Also, I am not liking the camera app on the CM9 ROMS. Its like 2/3 of the screen is taken up but the shoot button. Is there any other camera app I can flash. I REALLY liked the sense camera app, any way to get that?
Thanks....

Using one of the ArmV7 versions in the Google Now Project thread in the Android Apps section should work fine, make a back up first just in case.

You can't get the Sense camera on AOSP, but you can use third party cameras in the Play Store.

[Q] How can I get my Touchwiz apps back?

Hello. I'm new here and I'm starting off with a question. To some, that may be annoying; I apologize.
I just today flashed my Fascinate to CM7. However, The stock android camera app as well as a few others are not really as nice as the TouchWiz versions in my opinion.
Can I get my camera, music, and swipe keyboard apps back? Where can I look to find them and how do I go about installing them.
I appreciate the help.
Swype can be installed and you can get from HERE. But unfortunately touch wiz apps rely on the touch wiz frameworks to function. Meaning they will not work with cm7.
good day.
Is it the same for the camera app as well? I odin'd back to stock just for that at the moment.
Here's another question on the same topic:
If I install touchwiz 4 on Cyanogenmod, would I be able to use the camera and music apps from the stock rom? Or, does TW4 come with those apps?
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

Flash Stock Camera app in CyanogenMod?

I recently flashed CyanogenMod 7.1 on my Galaxy SII. I previously had a Galaxy S Captivate and couldnt stand being stuck with a stock rom after using CM7. One of the only complaints i have about CM 7.1 RC is that the camera app crashes, and is completely unusable. Even if this were not the case, i love the original camera app on this phone.
So my question is, and it may very well be a complete noob question, so please try not to bash me too much, but Is there any way to flash the stock camera app onto Cyanogen? Or does the new Kernel/Rom prevent a stock application from running correctly?
Thanks a lot guys,
Evan

You cannot flash stock camera into CM7 it. If it was that easy it would have been done already.
If you want to retain all the features of the camera and video part of the phone
it's best to stay away from CM7 until the DEVS decide to fix it.
I have been testing CM7 ever since I first purchased my Samsung Captivate and
now with my new SGS2 i777.
GTG's UnNamed v1.03 custom rom is the best currently available for our phones.
It achieves the full & steady 30fps according to the specifications of the phone.
The user interface cosmetically speaking is also the best there is right now.
CM7 is not ready for prime time yet especially if video recording and camera
user interface (UI) is important to you.
There are many missing features and options in the CM7's camera user interface.
CM7 still does NOT achieve the full continuous 30fps while recording video.
So home made recordings when played back will not be super smooth and will
not achieve the video standards according to the specification of the phone.
BUT it's up to you guys, if you hardly use the camera at all CM7 is great.
(personally I use my camera a lot and video recording is very important to me.)

[Q] Samsung Camera on AOSP/CM10?

Hi guys,
I have used CM9 for a long long time on my SGS1 and the battery was amazing.
When I got my i9300 some months ago, i tried CM9 as soon as it was made available.
Soon I returned to a Samsung based ROM for one reason: the camera application.
Now I know that a project was started to bring some of the functionality to AOSP based roms here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746611
Still the HDR functionality is missing and to be honest I simply would like the Samsung camera to work on CM10.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Samsung's camera needs the Touchwiz framework to operate, since all these apps and system modifications are heavily interdependant and cannot be individually moved around.
There should be enough other camera applications in Play Store, are there really NONE you like?
Should be able to port it if you want to take the time. Just make sure you have updated things to work with! How to port!
i am not sure if you noticed that while on CM10, the pictures and video playback quality is not as good as the stock gallery and stock player.
The pictures and videos seemed to have more noise on them.

Have you used the Samsung camera with that phone? It is amazing, and no pixel fuzz, and HDR and panorama, etc etc. It really is the best camera app.
If you really want it, I've made a package including the latest Samsung JB Camera app and the TouchWiz framework. It's not tested but uses the same principle as the Samsung Apps for CM10, so it might work. As always, backup first, then flash the zip with CMW. You can get it here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?c7g9v8pup1x7r8j. Let me know if it works.

I flashed it and nothing happened. I don't see any camera app after the installation
I flashed it and with the new framework it say Optimizing apps.. so I take it, my install is goofy now with TW crap and it seems to be running with twice as much current..
Anyways no camera install, if I add the apk it just wont install, and not sure if it is because of CM10 mmqualcommcamera as kernel process..
But Samsung apps works.

[Q] Can I use the official clock and camera app on Cyanogen or are they incompatible?

I want to use Cyanogen or Slimbean etc. but I frigging hate the Camera app and I really hate the clock app too. I really don't want to use an official rom for my phone but I really cannot part with those apps.
Is there anyway I can use something like Titanium Backup to save the .apk and just overwrite it over the Cyanogen/Slimbean one instead?
I can't stress how badly I need to do this, it's the deal-breaker of Cyanogen.. I've never tried it before but I don't want to waste a couple of hours flashing and revamping to find that I can't do it.. :/
Has anyone tried? I can't find another thread over it... just on the HTC camera app.

AFAIK you can't. The camera app on Stock rom is a touchwiz based app. Won't be compatible with CM
What if I move touchwiz with me? You mean the launcher right, or is that something different completely :/ is there really no way to even try and get it working as a beta? I mean it's leagues ahead of Cyanogen's Camera app and I take so many pictures with my phone... I really miss those options.
Touchwiz is not just the launcher. Its the name of the software framework running on the phone (android x.x + all the other stuff including the interface, camera, messaging apps etc. Since the camera app is part of that, it's impossible to port it to for example cyanogenmod.
You should just wait for android 4.2 to be ported to the s3. As far as i have seen the camera works great with many options !

[Q] AOSP Based Rom, Camera & Official Kitkat for i9300

Hey there guys .
Well i was using AOSP Based roms for a long long time,
untill i figured out taking pictures was really ... a huge thing to me.
I feel like theres no rom that can handle camera as good as TouchWiz based roms.
So i switched to Android Revolution (4.3) with a S5 Theme which looks kinda neat and works pretty decent -
BUT ITS NOT AOSP which i love so much ...
I was using Temasek's builds for ages and i kinda miss that feeling having a nexus experience on my phone.
I would love to know if theres a solution for it...
a good AOSP (4.4+) with a good camera who does not crash. ("Cannot connect to camera") ?
any news about getting official kitkat update for i9300 and hope that CM will work on it ?
So please if anyone knows what im going through just guide me.
Thanks alot.
No one ? \:
have you thought about dual-booting ?

I used the SlimKat rom for some time and I solved the camera crashes with a file in this forum. If you go to the section called "Themes and Apps" you will find a post with a tutorial on how to fix these camera crashes on AOSP roms.

Ive never tried dual boot before but im trying to think about situations like'
"me walking down the street, running CM on my phone .. suddenly BAMN! a flying cow. i gotta take a quick responsive HD footage of it" ( some 1080p video running on 30fps steady... y'know.. without that cm lag")
so that ain't an option i guess.

To be honest, I did not take many photos with the camera, but the ones I took were okay I guess (I'm no expert so I can't tell you if they are or not better than the ones you can take with the Samsung camera app).
Regarding the video recording, I'm afraid it's worse than the one on Samsung app, because it randomly starts focusing somewhere else and you have to refocus by tapping the screen. And forget about recording anything with the front camera as you could only make SD videos with pretty bad quality.
There's no camera like the Samsung one but this is the closest you can be to that on an AOSP rom.
Hope it helped.

There may be any aosp rom with good camera handle. I used temasek but camera ?! I think it used to crash. Now I am using FuisonSP but getting freeze/restart and camera crash.
I suggest you to try some other camera apps. Google and find some of the bests

Ive found some good camera apps (Camera FV-5) - which crashes alot on AOSP.
but there is no recording app as good as TW's.
Well why don't you try to sign samsung camera apk and put it at /system/app it would work will or u can use camera 360 which is a good app i think..
