No service or data after new rom - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've tried to install the LiquidSmooth ICS v1.5 rom and have ended up with no service and data several times. I use rom manager and delete cash. I've also tried Clockworkmod with the same results.
One thing that I was wondering is why I cant access the bootloader menu when I reset. I see the options, but then it blows by and questions me if I want to update or not(this is how I get back to a usable phone after failed rom install attempts). I dont remember how I rooted this phone back when it first came out. I'm just wondering if that has anything to do with my problems.

When you go through that update it brings you back to that firmware? If so it means there is an ruu on the root of your sd.
Also when flashing a new Rom you need to format everything, not just cache. That's why you're having issues.
I also recommend using 4EXT recovery

Your were right about the SD card. I copied the LiquidSmooth ICS v1.5 MR2 rom to a spare card and I was able to access the boot loader menu. I went into ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.0.2, wipe data, wipe cash and installed the rom... Unfortunately I still have no service or data.

When installing a new ROM, you should always go through your recovery. I use 4EXT, and it works great. To get to your recovery, ensure that your sdcard is free of any PG05IMG files in the root directory. You should always create a nandroid backup, wipe/format to factory defaults, install your ROM, then wipe cache and dalvik cache. You can then install any flashable zips on top of that.

The new rom is the only thing that I have messed with. Also, I am currently getting data from my router. Just no service from the tower.

I would try installing the latest radios and see what happens.

And that fixed the rest of it. I updated the radio from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1864157
Funny thing though.. I dont have my wifi indicator on top anymore, but it works fine.
One more thing.. This ROM is bare-bones. How can I check my voicemail other than *86?

I use Verizon's visual voicemail app
As far as the wifi goes, you should be able to turn that off/on in the interface settings from within the ROM

Do you use any kind of volume booster? I cant hardly hear people. I've tried a few, but they only boost your headphone and back speaker volumes.
Also, do you pay for the visual voicemail?

Wifi doesnt work after flashing Meanrom v26ICS.

I have the Evo 3d, and i flashed the meanrom ics. After i had flashed it wifi doesnt work, there is an error. I have the OTA update from sprint before i flashed it. I do not have s-off, but his thread says you do not need it. i have done a superwipe and then tryed to reflash it after i did the superwipe and still the same problem.
Did you flash the new firmware? Radios? Have you tried flashing another rom?
Yeah i did try flashing a new rom and its still the same problems, wifi doesnt work. If you know were i can find the legit stock rom ill try to download that but i cant seem to find it anywhere.

Rooted stock roms are in the CDMA Development section.
I had the same problem. Solution I used was to flash kernel from the mean Rom using flashimagegui. Worked fine after a reboot!

I think i have a solution for your problem it worked for me , By the way I used 4ext touch Recovery
in recovery when you are going to flash the new Rom make sure you select { wipe data/factory reset,,wipe cach ,, wipe dalvik cach } and most important select {format all partitions (except sdcard)
after all that you are ready to install the new Rom then Reboot the device and you shall not have any problems with your WiFi But Bluetooth still wont start or work

[Q] Need help on upgrading rom/radio

I presently have Tesla Coil 1.7 on my phone and have not updated ANYTHING since that flash last July of 2011.
I'd really like to change my mod to LiquidSmooth, but I am unsure of how to properly do it now that I've been out of the loop for a year or so. Do I just download the rom, reboot holding the volume key and flash like old times? Or is there a new way?
Will this also put me up to date with the latest and greatest radio?
My best to all who help.

Download Rom, put onto sd card whereever u want, completely turn phone off, hold down (-) volume button and power button at same time this should take you to the bootloader. Use the volume button to go to recovery and press the power button. When in recovery make a backup then format data. Install zip from sd card then wipe cache when install and dalvik wipe and fix permissions. Then reboot

605.19 is fine if your using Gingerbread or ICS Rom
I booted into clockwork, backup, wipe data, cache, davlik, then installed from sdcard.
On first boot, I sat for about 15 minutes with nothing happening. So I pulled the battery, booted back into clockwork wiped davlik and data again and rebooted. Still unable to boot into the rom.
Any thoughts?
Wipe data 3x, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache. Then flash the ROM. Reboot and enjoy.

For some reason I thought to upgrade clockwork. I apparently was only on version 3.x.x.x. So after upgrading that, remaking a backup, and reflashing, things are working awesome!
ICS is leaps and bounds above gingerbread.

Open the superuser app, scroll a page to the left and click in the middle. Let it check for updates. If it has any updates, just let it update.

[Q] Thunderbolt failing to boot after custom ROM

I recently attempted to root my HTC thunderbolt, and to do so I used the htc dev unlocker and then this "HTC Thunderbolt Tool'
rootzwiki.com/topic/27310-all-in-one-the-htc-thunderbolt-tool
After that I downloaded a rom and installed it through the 4ext recovery, it all install fine and I did do a factory/data reset but whenever I reboot after the rom install, I get the HTC white bootloader and then the screen become black with a back light to it.
I have tried a number of times to re-install the rom and have tried to use other roms but all of them seem to end the same way.
I have used:
BAMF FOREVER 1.1
BAMF MECHA ICS
AIRBORNE GOUI
Killsense 3.7.19
Lightning501
few more
My phone is a HTC Thunderbolt and when I attempted to root the phone it had a hboot version of 1.0.8 and had a stock version of ICS installed.
Sadly I have a phone without a working rom and I had forgot to make a backup so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Preferably I would like to keep the phone rooted but its not necessary.
Thank You
I'm a total xda-developor noob, so I hope I didn't mis a thread with a the solution all ready on it.

I have tried clearing everything but still doesn't seem to work.
One thing I forgot to mention is sometimes if I wait long enough on the blank screen It boots me back into the 4ext recovery, don't know if that makes much of a difference.
The way I have been installing the rom
Load ROM onto the SD
Do a "wipe data/factory reset"
Go into install sd and choose the Rom which is in a .zip file
I think this is how its supposed to be done, but not sure.

Problem is you were coming from the ICS OTA.
The All In One Tool alone will not get you rooted after taking the OTA.
In order to fully root and s-off after having the OTA loaded, you would need to follow the steps outlined HERE

You can use whatever Recovery you want, Clockwork Mod is old and not really suggested to use, especially with newer roms.

[Q] Flashed rom, now can't provision

Relevant;
S-OFF, TWRP, CM10 based ROM (RootBox)
Everything is working except for my phone. I get 1x data, but the phone number won't show up, I can't dial out without getting a "your account doesn't have this feature" recording.
The MEID comes up correct, but I can't do ##786# or any PRL updates.
I didn't see anything in the FAQ's, but I'm assuming this is because it's not based off of a stock sprint rom. How can I do the PRL/Provisioning?

In addition, if that doesn't work for you, try to make a phone call once you've flashed a Sense ROM. Sprint may have to re-provision your service, at which point you'd be good to go.

Yep. One thing I neglected to mention is that I updated the radio firmware after I went S-off before I loaded the new rom. I was still using Freshmod previously and everything was working great. Since Fresh isn't in development anymore I figured it was time for some upgrades.
Now I can't load a stock rom on to it. Every time I try to install a rom through twrp it reboots about 10-15 seconds into the load, when I get back into TWRP /sdcard is corrupt and has to be reformatted before it's recognized again.
Already did a factory reset/wipe in TWRP 2.6.0.0.... Is this an issue where TWRP has to be downgraded?

Shouldn't be. Boot to recovery and mount your internal storage to your computer. You should get the option to format it. The file system type is FAT32. Should be good to go afterwards. The issue seems to be related to swapping back and forth between Sense and AOSP, but I personally have never had the problem.

I had to do an advanced wipe in TWRP and wipe everything, format the internal SD, found a small (350 meg) sense rom (UR/EVO), that loaded this time. I was able to go in and activate the phone and do an activation and PRL update.
Going to try and reload Rootbox now... Wish me luck.

[Q] Sprint Galaxy Note 3 rooted, unable to tether.

Hello all,
I will confess that I am an absolute noob. I have had my Sprint Galaxy Note 3 since November last year. I finally decided to go ahead and root my phone so that I could use the tether feature. I also like the idea of having control of my own device. I have been reading and reading, and reading on the forum and referencing information from a copy of the Android Hacker's Toolkit by Mr. Jason Tyler and Will Verduzco.. and I'm confused. The information is great however the vast majority of it is over my head.
I have used Chainfire's method for rooting my phone and have installed TWRP for the recovery, and have made a back-up. I have tried installing and using WiFi Tether by TopAppLoft and several other applications from Google Play. I am unable to get the wireless router to work.
What could I try in order to be able to use the WiFi router without having to pay the extra $ to Sprint?
Thank you in advance for any information anyone can provide

Thank you sir! I took a peek and the Odexed Blue ROM looks like a pretty cool ROM. Once I flash the ROM if I want to go back to what I originally had I can just use the Reboot Recovery command through Goomanager? I created a nandroid back-up file through Goomanager of the current configuration on my phone.
It will be a few days before I can get back home and flash a ROM but thanks again and I will let you know how it goes. :good:

I honestly only used goomanager a few times and never made a backup with it. I use twrp for backups and flashing as I believe most others in this forum do as well. I would consider making a backup through recovery unless someone can tell you otherwise. All the roms should have the 4 in 1 power menu and you can access recovery through there. The two easiest ways to go back if you were unhappy with a rom would be to restore a backup through recovery or Odin back to stock. However I think you will be very happy with strongsteve and his odex blue rom. I have used his rom since he released it and it really is flawless and very appealing to the eye. Good luck. Let us know if you need help.

Sir,
I selected Bonsai_BETA_v0.0.5 - 01.14.2014 as my new ROM to flash as it lists the native hotspot mod as one of the things it has included. I was unable to figure out how to install OdexBlue through Odin version 1.85 (this was Chainfire's autoroot application) and I was unable to locate OdexBlue through Goomanager. I made sure to do a nandroid back up and did a complete wipe as I installed Bonsai through Goomanager. I successfully flashed it however I do not know how to get the Native Hotspot feature to work without it telling me to "Call Sprint Customer Service" to activate it. Not sure what I should try at this point. Perhaps try another ROM or seek out the Native Hotspot mod from Mr. Micmars?
If you want odex blue download it from the rom thread to your PC then put it on your sd card. For some reason my phone will not download the odex blue roms. No need to use goomanager to download roms, you will find the download link in the original post where you find the rom description. Once it is on your sd card reboot to recovery, make a backup in recovery, wipe system, data, cache, and dalvic cache. Now from the main menu of recovery go to install, find the rom and install it. Reboot and it should work fine. These are the basic instructions for most roms but always read the developers instructions as some are slightly different. I'm guessing you may not have wiped system, data, and cache which may not allow you to use the hotspot mod. Report back with your results.

If you want odex blue download it from the rom thread to your PC then put it on your sd card. For some reason my phone will not download the odex blue roms. No need to use goomanager to download roms, you will find the download link in the original post where you find the rom description. IT WORKS LIKE A CHAMP!!! I downloaded odexblue and moved it over into the goo manager download directory. I then did a wipe and I installed it through goomanager. I'm connected now through my hot spot as I type to you. Thanks again for your guidance and patience with this noob!!
Glad it worked.
