[Dev][CM7.2] Help - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi all!
I was bored to wait for ICS update. So, I decided to try compilinig CM7.2.
N.B: It's the first rom i compile from source! I'm doing it just for fun and learn how to compile a rom
What I've done:
-Compiled generic CM (with the instruction "lunch full-eng");
-Packed it with Supercharged Kernel;
Now i need some help to create the META-INF folder.
I noticed that with the compiled generic rom came also a folder called "utility" in which I found the update-binary.
P.s.: I hope also this thread will be helpfull for some other new devs

Please help him, I really like to see a cyano7 on U, please... Vai Vaste!!

Vaste, let me understand, you took zImage and system, you merged them in a zip and you flashed it??? Of course so it doesn't boot.
But have you got the META-INF folder or have you only got update binary??
If you havn't got META-INF you can download this.
Now we need a Dev or a Cook that take a look of system and zImage and let we now if they're OK; then he has to take updater script and with Notepad++ write the Updater script...
I don't think that it's so hard... Please.
I'm trying to make an Updater script but I never made one, so.....
And anyway I can't now if there is some thing wrong in the rom....

You can use Rom kitchen (dxin somthng)

For What???
Vaste Alredy made the updater script so now the rom can be installed but it doesn't boot.
I think that the problem is in to system folder, I took a look to the rom and META-INF is OK, kernel's OK to I think (he took Xperia supercharged and with Championswinner kernel kitchen he made from elf a boot.img and then he renamed it to zImage), so the problem is in system folder...
Please, jitin02 take a look, I can give you the link of the zip if vaste is offline...

If you have zImage from supercharged kernel share it!

Yes, you are right, the problem is in "the system folder". He built the generic CM, not a configured for this phone. It never will boot so.

how to change sony boot image?

any way to set own .jpeg or .png picture?
or change it in kernel?
Do u think this is the right place to ask questions...that too with a new thread? The boot image lies inside the kernel...and decompiling a kernel is a dev's expertise.

get the boot.img, exract it, you'll get ramdisk. extract it too, you'll get logo.rle
convert it to png
make your changes
convert it back to rle
then place it back in ramdisk
repack boot.img
AND ITS HARD TO DO THIS ON WINDOWS, YOU NEED LINUX FOR THIS

[Script]Automated Porting[v0.1]

So i made a script that would automatically port a rom from any device to any device.
if your rom uses anything other than boot.img for kernel, copy it from base to port along with META-INF.
this also resizes images too if you have different dpis
how to use:
Extract a ROM that works with your phone. This is your base
Extract the ROM you want to port. This is port.
Extract the script.
Run portscriptv3.sh
Follow directions
Ill make a better post once i finish my HW

it port all rom or its possible to port only some features?

This sounds like a great idea, but how exactly do you use this?
I get that there are shell scripts and I know how to run those, but does the rom need to be extracted? Which script do you use for the rom itself?
A little more info would go a long way
Thanks OP
this script need more thinks..
Has anyone downloaded this and ran any of the files? It has instructions, it seems as though you may need to create some empty folders on your own as their not in the file set.

Look up how to run files from terminal, you don't just go around installing stuff without knowing what you're doing and hoping that something magically works. Like seriously dude, you can answer your own question.

Ill be testing this on my warp using an HTC evo 3d rom to port.
Just to be sure the steps requires are.
First extract compatible Rom
Second extract port Rom
Third extract port by file or whatever it's called and place extracted roms in folders.
Fourth boot the port through recovery? Or run off windows? I haven't gotten to my pc to test but im trying to clarify the steps before i get to work on it.

[Q] Ned help to modify AOKP boot.img

Hi,
I got the AOKP ROM for Sony xperia U from XDA forums.
I want to modify the boot.img, please let me know the correct tool/script to unpack/repack and modify.
I already tried using following:
1) unpacking & packing scripts from github's Bootimg-scripts (unpack-bootimg.pl & repack-bootimg.pl)
- unpacking and packing the boot.img without any modifications, this creates a boot.img which doesn't boot
2) split_bootimg.pl
- Gives error message "Bad Magic"
Thanks!

[TUT] How to deodex roms+set up Android kitchen(cygwin)+extract files from Kdz

INTRODUCTION
HI GUYS..!
Though there are many threads explaining about the set up of android kitchen and deodexing roms...i found it a bit confusing,as most of the threads take you to different threads which again explain the steps in detail, most of which though informative is unnecessary as they are General threads .. so,TODAY i will be explaining simple step by step procedures from setting up cygwin to doedexing a rom for our devices...
THIS THREAD IS FOR L3 BUT SHOULD WORK ON L5 AND L7 ALSO ( for extracting &deoxing-Only First generation ie; L3,L5&L7..Not for L3 II,L5 II, L7 II ,but the method for android kitchen is common for both generations)
THINGS NEEDED(DOWNLOADS)
1.JAVA- download here http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
2.LG EXTRACTION KIT PUT TOGETHER BY ME -
http://www.mediafire.com/download/qdxgh0hqznph3nf/KDZ_extraction_Kit+kitchen+cygwin.rar
Click to collapse
STEP 1-INSTALL JAVA (just download and install it)
STEP 2- SET UP CYGWIN (This method is for Windows-i have provided the 32 bit setup ,for 64 bit download the setup from website below and skip to step 3) for 64 bit users - http://www.cygwin.com
1.extract the rar file i have provided and open the folder
2.open setup-x86.exe - don't proceed
3.open the cygwin setup guide provided in the folder and follow the steps
Click to collapse
STEP 3- SET UP ANDROID KITCHEN
1. open the folder u extracted from my rar file
2.right click on Android-Kitchen-0.224_2 and extract here
3.now copy the "kitchen" folder to c:\cygwin\home\(your_user_name)\
[Note :: make sure that ur username does not contain any spaces (eg; homepc) (not eg; home pc) ;if it does then copy to c:\cygwin\home\ ]
Click to collapse
STEP 6- CHECK IF ANDROID KITCHEN WORKS
1.Right click on the desktop shortcut of cygwin and run as administrator
2.type
Code:
cd kitchen
for people who have spaces in there user name
Code:
cd /home/kitchen
3.to open menu
Code:
./menu
IF YOU DONT GET ANY ERRORS THEN PROCEED TO THE NEXT STEP
Click to collapse
STEP 7- EXTRACTING THE KDZ FILE(For custom odexed roms proceed to STEP 9)
(For the users who don't know about the .kdz , it is the file format for the stock lg rom firmwares,...to download the kdz files goto-
http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=11 and download the firmware that suits you accordingly...im using v10k open eupore )
1.open the folder u extracted from my rar file
2.rightclick on lgextract LGExtract-0.2.1 and select extract here
3.copy the .Kdz to the extracted folder
4.type
Code:
LGExtract.exe -kdz V10X_xx.kdz
(wherein "v10X_xx " stands for the version of kdz u want to extract eg v10k_00)
5. you should end up with three files a .dz file ,a .dll file and a .cab file ( eg DZ_LGE400AT-00-V10k-EUR-XXX-AUG-08-2012+0.dz ; QCT_E400_20120703.dll and V10k_00.cab
Click to collapse
STEP 8-EXTRACTING THE ..DZ FILE
1.open the folder that u extracted from my rar file
2. rightclick on the DZDecrypter_v0.5.rar file and select extract here.... do the same for the DZDecrypter_v1.0b.rar file
3. now "copy" the .dz file into both extracted folders
4. open the extracted DZDecrypter_0.5 folder and type
Code:
DZDecrypt.exe LGE610AT-xx-VxxX-XX-XXX-xx-xx-20xx+x.dz
wherein "LGE610AT-xx-VxxX-XX-XXX-xx-xx-20xx+x.dz" is name of the .dz file
5. open the extracted DZDecrypter_v1.0b and do the same
6. now what we need is the boot.img ;recovery.img and system.img
7.make a new folder
8.to get the boot.img and recovery.img go to the DZDecrypter_v0.5 folder and copy the two files to a folder u created
9.to get system.img go to the DZDecrypter_v1.0b folder and find the file named system.img.ext4
10. just rename it to system.img and copy it to the folder u created
Click to collapse
STEP 9- EXTRACTING THE SYSTEM.IMG and deodexing the System Files
(FOR CUSTOM ROMS CREATE A FOLDER IN C:\cygwin\home\your_user-name\kitchen\ AND NAME IT "WORKING_090313_013348" AND COPY THE META-INF;SYSTEM AND BOOT.IMG INTO IT AND OPEN THE KITCHEN MENU AND FOLLOW FROM THE11TH STEP )
Click to collapse
NOTE :custom rom users use can this command via the terminal emulator to obtain the system file's on the rom... it is recommended to do this on a Fresh installation or else you will obtain a lot of unwanted files along with the ones needed ..
Code:
su
tar -c system/* >> sdcard/system.tar
Click to collapse
this will create a .tar file on your sdcard which u can latter transfer to your pc and extract using winrar or 7zip
The files needed are
/app
/bin
/etc
/fonts
/framework
/lib
/media
/semc
/usr
/xbin
build.prop
Click to collapse
delete the rest of the folders
1.COPY THE BOOT.IMG AND SYSTEM.IMG TO c:\cygwin\home\(your_user_name)\kitchen\original_update
2. open cygwin as adminstrator and open the kichen menu(refer step 6)
3.select option 1 -set up working folder from rom
4.select default 1
5.select n (dont change name)
6.select ext2explore
7.follow the instruction on the cmd
8.select n (don't extract cache.img)
9.select y (view rom info)
10. press enter to continue
11.select option 0 (advanced options)
12.select 11 deodex files in your rom
13.select v and change API LEVEL to 10(this is for gingerbread rom ie 2.3.x for other rom select accrdly)
14.select b deodex both folders ( sometimes u can get errors for few apks to resolve that delete the apks in the location below in system/app ...you have to delete both the .apk and .odex ; PS:don't delete the others they are deodexed...!)
15.press enter
16. view the contents of the folder navigate to C:\cygwin\home\your_user-name\kitchen\WORKING_xxxxxx_xxxxxx u'll find the deodexed apks in system\apps
17.now u can make changes to the file.
Click to collapse
(OPTIONAL:I have not tried the zip but should work well)
STEP 10- FLASHING THE DEODEXED FILES TO THE ROM
1. open the folder that u extracted from my rar file
2. install 7 zip (7z920.exe) ignore if already there
3.rightclick on 'deodex.zip' and select open with 7zip
4.open system in 7zip
5.replace the /app and /framework from the folders in C:\cygwin\home\your_user-name\kitchen\WORKING_xxxxxx_xxxxxx\system
(Just drag and drop in the opened .zip file)
6. copy the zip file to the sdcard of ur phone
7. flash it via cwm

This method is only for first generation of L series. You tried to extract dz of P710 (L7 II) so obviously it won't work.

[guide] compiling and decompining kernel on windows

Hi. It's my first thread so please be kind with me
I found a way to compile and decompile any SIN kernel on Windows..
First, you must open the FTF kernel who contains the SIN file with Winrar or 7zip. You'll see:
*META-INF
*kernel.sin
*loader.sin
Extract the kernel.sin ...
Open FlashTool; Tools; Sin Editor; open the Sin file and click Extract Data. You'll see a kernel.elf file.
You can delete the other files and the sin files to make your workstation clean.
Open now FlashTool again; Tools; Extractors; Elf. Browse to your kernel.elf and click unpack. You obtain now the ramdisk and the zImage.
It's time to download this : https://www.dropbox.com/s/kdikeyb9hizoww6/Kernel Tools.zip
Extract THE ENTIRE ZIP and enter to BOOTIMG-TOOLS folder. Create a "boot.img_source" folder and a "boot.img_output" folder inside the bootimg-tools folder. You must have
*bin
*boot.img_source
*boot.img_output
*[FR]RunMe.bat
Copy your zImage and your ramdisk into the boot.img_source folder and rename the ramdisk to "boot.img-ramdisk.gz" (IMPORTANT) and the zImage to "boot.img-kernel".
Enter on the "boot.img_output" folder and create a "ramdisk" folder.
If you did well all this, you must have it: "\BOOTIMG-TOOLS\boot.img_output\ramdisk".
Now go to "\BOOTIMG-TOOLS\boot.img_source" and open your ramdisk with Winrar or 7zip. Inside, you have an unknown file with the same name of your ramdisk. Just double clic on it. You have now many files:
*data
*dev
*engine
..... and much more..
Extract it to the ramdisk folder. ("\BOOTIMG-TOOLS\boot.img_output\ramdisk")..
Go on ramdisk folder and make the modif's of your kernel ( like change initlogo.rle )
Once edits finished, it's time to reach BOOTIMG-TOOLS folder. Run the [FR]RunMe.bat. To compile your kernel, make change typing "2" and press ENTER. A boot_new.img will be created.
Re-Run the bat and type "3" to delete the "boot.img_output" and "boot.img_source" folders.
Rename the "boot_new.img" created by the batch to "boot.img"
Re-run the batch a third time and type "1" to decompile the boot.img you created.
Now go into the new "boot.img_source" and copy the new ramdisk and zImage to the SECOND UTIL YOU EXTRACTED FROM THE ZIP: sin-creator.
Paste the zImage and the ramdisk into the sin-creator folder and rename tke ramdisk "ramdisk" ( without quotes ) and rename the zImage "image".
Run the BUILD-IT.bat and press any key two times. After pressing the second time, tou can see new files into the folder, and the important file is RESULT.ELF.SIN ..
Rename the "result.elf.sin" to "kernel.sin" and add it to remplace the original sin file into your FTF kernel.
To do it, open the original FTF with Winrar and click add files. add the new kernel.sin.
Once it's done, just flash your new kernel with flashTool. You can edit the manifest file on your new FTF to recognise it as edited kernel on FlashTool
Hope this help some of us
