well, to be quite honest I don't really know why you would want to update your hboot... hboot is different from most software in that sense, the higher the version the more problems you are likely to have with roms and kernels. bottom line, there's no advantage having hboot 1.5x to having 1.49.xxx

Totally agree the lower the hboot the least problems you will have, my phone is hboot 1.49 and people with 1.53 are having issues galore

For hboot 1.49.0011 Only!

Hi everyone I MAY BE NOT FIRST ONE! But I haven't seen someone post it anywhere.
For those who have hboot 1.49.0011 and tried to downgrade their hboot to 1.49.0007 or 0008 and tried to update their firmware and it did not work.
Finally after few long days of trying without no luck, now I can tell I did it. I downgradet my hboot from 1.49.0011 to 1.49.0007
If anyone wants to downgrade their hboot from 1.49.0011 ot 0007 let me know.
I do not posting the steps because not sure if it right thread.

Then why post at all of you're not sure?
The idea of development thread is to help out others with anything that has to do with development. Seeing some threads here that explain how to unlock/downgrade or whatever the bootloader...
Although I doubt if anything that you found out would come as an extra tip to the forums. (No offence intended, really.)
Post the steps if I were you, otherwise this thread will be closed very fast.
It's not only that has been mentioned before, it's also unnecessary since there is that new unlocking method from juponutbear

The guide by s superman here on how to downgrade almost every gsm EVO 3d works for hboot 1.49.0011 to downgrade to 1.49.0007
You MUST correctly modify the numbers listed on your base(stock Rom) to LOWER then it is using the hexedit software.
Settings/about phone/software info/more/build info
Mine was 1.22.707.3
Changed to 1.20.707.3 and yes it works.
Tested and confirmed on my previous crappy s-on CID HTC__044 hboot 1.49.0011
If someone sees your thread about the hboot, my post has good usable info.

[Q] Hboot 1.12 S-on unlocked. What can't I do?

I've looked for weeks and I'm still unsure about this. I can run a custom ROM being unlocked. However, can I flash a radio? or do I need to be S-off? My old EVO allowed me to do an "all in one" zip that would include ROM, radio, PRI, PRL etc. When I got my Sprint EVO LTE a couple of weeks ago, and after reading XDA forums for hours, I was pleased to know my Hboot is 1.12. It seems you can do more with this version than any other.
Thanks for this clarification.
It's easy enough to get s-off if u follow instructions. Be easier if u did, and there are people who would love to be in your shoes to have s-off on this phone.
I'm not sure about radios. I think u need to be s-off to flash just a radio. And if u stay S-ON upgrading thru RUU's will put u on perma-S-ON hboot. Or permanent until someone can come up with an exploit. And that isn't looking too promising atm.
I know 1.12 is more slack than 1.15&1.19, when S-ON, but might as well s-off while u can. Right?

what he said ^^^^^^
You are correct. You cannot flash radios if you are s-on.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
You can flash radios only in recovery with s-on.
Look in this tread by Captaintrowback.

[Q] Diasarmed Toaster Rom with S-On

Hi,
I'm asking here as I can't post in developement itself (2 Posts only)
Is it possible to install this rom with S-On? I had to switch to KingCobra, because DT was bootlooping. But KingCobra seems to be dead.
Sorry if this was already answered before.

You cannot flash DT with S-On because you will need to downgrade your hboot to a compatible one (I don't know if you're CDMA or GSM). That's why it is bootlooping.
GSM. Thanks. Is revolutionary still in active developement for Hboot 1.53xx? Most downgrades seem to be a pain in the ass
I do not know if you know about this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743466 Follow method A,B and D to get S-off. But its a great alternative if you don't want to wait on revolutionary to make a s-off tool.
Will doing this on son work ????? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906172

Some s-on users it worked...see link
It is a bit ambiguous though. if you see the last page praveenkv1988 says he actually did the wire trick before trying this. No one actually says he did this with s-on they just started from there
If you try it you'll have to do it on your own risk. its untested so you should tread lightly

tampered/locked/s-off [solved]

VERY long story how I got here, won't get into it. I'm now on hboot 1.12 and need to re-unlock my bootloader. As stated in title, I'm s-off with a tampered/locked status. If someone can point me in the right direction, that would be awesome.

If you have s-off, you don't need to unlock. You can flash things through the bootloader. What are you trying to do? Recovery? Update firmware? Once you're s-off through Lazypanda or Dirty Racun you keep s-off.

That should be all you need to do. Be careful with firmware though. Make sure to do it in order. Flashing straight to the newest one has been causing bricks.

Yeah, I wish I knew which one I was currently on. I'll just start from 1.22 and move on from there. Thanks again man.
Check the radio when in bootloader.
1.12.11.0809 is from the 2.13.651.1 OTA
1.12.11.1119 is from the 3.15.651.16 JellyBean OTA
1.12.11.1210 is form the newest 3.16.651.3
Make sure to flash the Captains full firmware zips from bootloader.

Sweet baby jesus. I wonder if my major malfunction had to do with the new TWRP. Basically, my data partition went to crap out of no where.

[Q] Is this safe? ICS to JB

Hello!
Is flashing a JB ROM on :
- S-ON
- 1.53.0007 HBOOT
safe?
I guess that after flashing I gonna have a different hboot (correct me if I'm wrong).
And how about flashing from JB to ICS?
Thanks for advices, I'm really new into android roms and can't afford a new phone if this one would be bricked.

You need to read the OP for the ROM. Usually they say what HBOOT is needed.
I can tell you that in order to go to JB you will need to S-Off first.

Sadly dev haven't mentioned Hboot nor s-off or s-on. That's why I'm asking
Btw. Isn't only difference between S-ON and S-OFF that you have to flash boot.img via fastboot usb if you're S-ON?

No. Look here for an explantion of s-on versus s-off.
At quick search in the thread you linked yieled people saying you need 1.39.
If your phone is the gsm version, you will have to downgrade your hboot to 1.49. Now in order to downgrade, you're going to need to be s-off
Sent from my Evo 3D GSM using Tapatalk 2
You're most likely going to end up bootlooping and confused. Go ahead and stay on stock rooted, and get S-Off, it's almost no risk, as failing to do the procedure right just means you have to keep trying.
you need non-ics bootloader so you need s-off first (wiretrick) then downgrade BL and then update radio.
