[Q] Using ADB with Sony Tablet S - ICS 4.0.3.r1a - Sony Tablet S

Hi, i am new to the xda developers forum and i got a question about the android debugger, since i'm clueless what to do after several hours of searching :silly:
I have an Sony Tablet S with ICS version 4.0.3.r1a (not rooted) and i want to use it for app developing.
Sadly sony does not provide drivers out of the box, so i have to search for working drivers myself. I know, they provide a description of lines, you have to add to the google driver, and i have tried two different methods to get adb working, but my devices still does not show up in the adb devices list.
method 1 (automated driver installer): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488822
method 2 (google driver modification): http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/suppo...=684a6e492d1523ff4081def0a00b48a1&info_id=878
The device seems to use the driver, since it shows up as Android Composite ADB Interface in the devmgmt, but it still does not show up in the adb devices list.
Here some Facts about my os and settings:
My PC:
OS: Win7 ultimate x64
adb-version: 1.0.29
google usb-driver version: 7.0.0.1
My Tablet:
Android-Version: ICS 4.0.3.r1a
USB-Debugging is enabled
Other sources for apps are allowed
here some pictures of my file contents & devices:

My head is smoking atm, so i hope you know more about drivers and adb as i do and maybe someone of you had the same problem and can help me, i would be really greatful.
So long,
r3bel

Finally i found a solution of my problem...
As simple as it was, i could kick myself ... the driver seems to have a problem with my usb 3.0 controller, the adb finds the device if it is plugged into a usb 2.0 port.
maybe this helps others who have the same problem

I had same problem (it was working before) and I did system restore to get it to work.
Then I could able to root my tablet.
How did you solve the usb problem?

Can't install ADB (got CWM and CM 10.1)

Hi there people ::- D.
After a long battle, I managed to get CWM & CyanogenMod 10.1 on my SG2. Now I'm trying to root it with SuperOneClick.
Unfortunately, SOC complains that it can't find drivers. I do allow it to install them "forcibly" but this won't make the errors go away. I even tried with the Samsung Mobile Driver. Same problem, SOC just won't work. See screenshot below.

I enabled the Debug Bridge on from CyanogenMod and the phone connects to the computer (I can transfer files).
I also tried downloading the Google USB driver and installing it from Computer Management -> Devices. I tried updating the driver software but Windows tells me that it's already up to date. Unfortunately, the driver still shows as defective:
Please help me get this baby going . Much appreciated!
May I know why you want to root again? You are already rooted and running CM10 right?

Sent from my SGS II
Um. Because I'm silly? ::- D. I did *suspect* I may be rooted, since I have super-user stuff in my CM10.1. But here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693 ) in the CWM thread, codeworkx specified that I "can" root my device using SOC. I didn't make the connection that changing my OS also includes that step.
But ANYWAY, I would still like to get the ADB running because I want to do a bit of development on it. ALSO, when something doesn't work, it pisses me off something awful .
So the question still remains .
Anybody else wanna have a crack at this? Please?
Probably this article about USB drivers can help you. There are several different drivers available and depending on system / recovery / etc. a phone can also identify itself with a different USB id. Unfortunately especially on Windows these problems occur very often

Android (LG G6) won't connect as MTP to Macos (as ADB it does)

Hello everyone,
a) My guess is, it might a problem with the drivers. I installed some LG programes earlier, already deinstalled it... But, Maybe you know better how to renew the Android drivers on the Mac and get rid off the stuff which probably blocks me from having the file transfer function again.
b) do you know at least any other (free) Programe that uses ADB to connect the phone to Mac?
c) something I have not thought of... You tell me
Once it was possible to connect the phone to my Mac and transfer files with Android File Transfer. Now it is not. I tried several other programmes, none can connect to the phone via MTP (for file transfer).
When I chose not "data transfer" but "photo transfer" as an option in the phone, the Photo app on Mac opens and I could trnasfer photos - so it works!
But I need file transfer....
I have and try several cables. Phone works without any problems with windows.
The only thing works now for transfering files via cable is MacDroid, which can connect the phone via ADB insetad of MTP. --> Problem: it costs money (and why should it now work in MTP in the first place).
The phone generally is found by the computer:

I use as OS "El Capitan". On the phone Android 9.0. Phone LG G6
Thank you!
PS: The phone even asks me if I want the Mac to authorize:

}
PS2: Macdroid works with the phone even in MTP Mode when Debugging is deactivated. So what is this... I do not get it.
Guys, girls, anybody, please give me a hint, think with me, tell me where to look for answers ...
Finally... I knew it was some ****ty LG Software... I installed all the LG Software I could find on their website. Plus some dirver they provided. And THIS time, I deinstalled them using their own tool. Now it works again...
I think I had installed something earlier and then just deleted it or something.
So in short, it was necessary do install and UNINSTALL the LG drivers from their website.

Stable tutorial for first-timer to maintain an Essential PH-1?

Hello, I've never gone beyond entering developer mode on any of my phones, looking around carefully, then turning that mode off. I own two PH-1 phones, one is in full time service, and I would like to know of a tutorial / step-by-step to do what I need to do to maintain this phone with the images (ROMs?) that are being maintained and updated. I don't need the phone to do anything other-worldly, just keep it updated.
This is the only forum on here I'm allowed to post to, because I've been a listen-only member for a couple years but have never posted. I've just started using Ubunto 20.04 on a new laptop so I can get away from Windows, but I still have a Win7Pro laptop.
Thanks for your recommendations on how to get started -- safely started -- and how to learn what I need to learn.
Also, I just read some of the read-me-first stickys, and please allow this to also be my "Say Hi" email...
"MP"
PS -- I get a captcha, check it, get the green checkmark, but I see *no* image... I'm using firefox w/ NoScript (all scripts enabled for this tab), on an Ubuntu 20.04 laptop.
So no one cares to reply? Did anyone read it besides myself? Whiskeytangofoxtrot

If phone's Android OS isn't an A/B-partition-layout-system - what I believe because its Stock ROM is Android 7.1. - then updating a phone's Android requires phone's boot-loader is unlocked. This must get enabled within phone's Developer options - keyword: OEM unlock - what simply sets phone's unlock ability flag to 1 . Additionally it's necessary that ADB ( read: Android Debug Bridge ) gets enabled in phone's Developer options - keyword: USB debugging.

Hi guys absolutely pulling my hair out with this phone. I just want to USB tether my internet and I'm getting "CDC NCM No driver found" in Windows, and when I check Device Manager it just says Other -> CDC NCM with an exclamation mark. Searching Google has been incredibly useless on this issue. I've never had issues with any other phone like this before. Anyone know how to solve this? Thanks.
What version of windows? Did you try more than one computer or the PDF instructions listed here? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/an...m-devices-arenamp39t-assigned-usbncm-dri.html

I haven't tried it on my Windows 10 Home PC but the issue is getting it on Windows 7. I followed these instructions but I don't see USBNcm Host Device in the update drivers list for Windows 7 and I don't know how to get it to appear.
have you tried the google usb driver?

Install the drivers that nutzfreelance linked. Have to disable driver signature verification on Windows for it to work. Mine were slightly out of date and stopped working on one of the phone updates. You also have to select USB tethering in two places:
Settings -> Network -> Hotspot
Dropdown menu: change "charging via USB" to USB tethering
It's probably been this way since Android 11 maybe? Pretty sure on 10 you didn't have to do step 2. Could be wrong though, haven't needed to tether for a couple of years.

Doogee S88 pro - <waiting for device> during fastboot commands

Hello everyone!
This is my first post here so I hope everything I try to explain is according to the rules as far as I read it.
I need to root my Doogee S88 pro mobile since I need test and develop some AR stuff. The standard apps are not accesible by the playstore so I need to bypass that. For doing that I need to root my phone (this is what I read at least).
So... I installed the doggee usb drivers from their website for my phone, usb debugging is activated and OEM is activated as well. I downloaded the most recen platform tools and the usb-cable should be fine since I find the phone with
Code:
adb devices
I execute the following commands:
Code:
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
I get the small Fastboot text in the lower left corner. Then if I try to execute
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
or
fastboot flashing unlock-critical
I only get back <waiting for device>
As said I installed the usb drivers provided by doogee. But: In the device manager I can see the following:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Also I periodically (every 10 seconds) hear the sound as if a usb-device is disconnected. Afterwards the device manager refreshes the list.
So... it is a driver issue? I tried updating the drivers but picking manually the folder where driver files are located leads to no result. Automatic search as well. If it is a driver issue - where can I get the appropriate driver files? Thank you for any hint.

Unfortunately that didnt help either. Dunno... What I did was: I switched to my Lnux OS and over there it worked out of the box (only needed to install adb and fastboot from repositories).
