The screen? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My s3 screen is the perfect size for me feals like a mini tablet only problem is im worried it will break.
Now should i get an otterbox or anouther case to protect it?

I've been rocking with the cruzerlight TPU case for a while now and it does wonders. Doesn't make it too thick, adds grip, and is very protective, check it out

Grab an Otterbox Commuter or Urban Armor Gear which provide u max protection. Otterbox provide better protection while UAG have better looking.

I have a simple plastic case that is more about the look than anything else. I've dropped it a 1/2 dozen times and have had no problems so far.

Dont worry man.
Its gorilla glass... wont break so easily.
I already dropped mine a hundred times. It hasnt got even a scratch.
Still, if you want to protect it that much, use a screen protector and put a case around your phone that covers your phone a little from front. This way, even if your phone falls, your screen will not have direct contact with ground and it wont break.

Bump lol.

Bro, are you serious that you had drop your S3 for a hundred times? I had watch drop test video from Youtube, the S3 broke once it's drop. But I admit that gorilla glass 1 had a very strong screen. But not gorrila glass 2 which using in S3. Correct me if I had wrong.

Now im home and there's a tiny hair under the shield im pissed... They're closed now but am i being picky? and do you think they'll put a new one on for free? Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

I'm pretty sure you can reapply the same Zagg screen protector. A quick google search reveals other people have done it.
Ok thanks for your guys help. Ill be headed to at&t in the morning.

When they decided to install it they assumed the risk for failure. Go back and they should take care of it for you. If you see a hair you are not being picky. Can I ask, why a screen protector? It has Gorilla Glass.
Yea i still got the Zagg because i wanted the added protection just in case ; ) better than paying at&t 200$ if something happens. Not sure if gorilla glass is scratch proof or just like shatter proof.
Edit: I looked at the gorilla glass website and it says its scratch and dent proof so i guess Zagg isn't really necessary.

Hairline cracks

So i know there is a topic for this but no traffic on it lately. Anyways i just noticed 2 cracks on mine. Has anybody else contacted samsung on this issue.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
In that thread I think they did. I have one too! Crappy dock made one right around the charger so I can't blame Sammy.

I haven't noticed any yet, knock on, wood.... Mines white and I have had it for about 2 months

I've got one also right at the charging port....
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Mine is above the speaker and the other is along the right side. Samsung told me its not a known issue. Then they tried troubleshooting it and telling me to remove the battery to see if that fixes it. Lol.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
So you know there is a thread and you started another one anyway? You said no recent traffic... Had you posted there it would have spooled back to the top of the list... Dude, really? /rant
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
On my second Note now. I exchanged the first one for a crack about an inch or two below the power button. The replacement has now developed a crack right at the power button.
So Samsung can say whatever they want about it not being a known issue - but it is an issue. Knock on wood ... my Note has never been dropped, I don't sit on it, and it's treated like it's a 5" piece of glass (which it is).
I got 3 cracks actually...one right on top of the speaker, one right where the power button is, and one right underneath the home button. Idk if these are really cosmetic flaws by Sammy...cos then again i ten to drop my phone all the time lol...Ofcourse it's always been in its folio leather wallet case so it shouldn't have hurt it that much.

No, he has a point. If the OP had responded in the thread that was already started, it would be brought to the top of the list, and it would have the same traffic, without creating a useless thread and cluttering up our forums. Especially when he knew there was another thread.

I did not remove the screen protector. Instead I removed my ZAGG IS. I like the built in one. However removing the plastic one is not hard at all. Its just glued in place.
Wasn't worried about the ease of removing so much as the feel...its kinda springy if u know what I mean ...its starting to annoy me some lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I bought mine on Saturday but I am taking it back because of the built-in screen protector.
Not only does it not sit flush with the glass (which is why it's "springy") but it distorts the quality of the screen horribly.
Getting my money back and sticking with my Diztronic TPU
Wow I removed it because it was too springy and it feels way better with my ghost armor screen protector!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I don't think Otterbox took into account the weirdly concaved screen. I agree with the feel of it, spongy. But i also don't like how the sides are squared off, as opposed to more rounded on the previous versions I've used on other devices. The accessory plugs are hard to open and close. If you take the silicon cover off, you notice there's no grab rail for the silicon in the corners. Its hard to lock into the holster. Feels unnatural when taking it out if the holster and I've used a defender for over a year previous.
I'm OK with all the feeling because I was using a commuter it seems much like the commuter to me...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
On every device I have ever had a defender series I just cut away the plastic shield it sucks one I do that I toss on my own screen protector and enjoy!
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
I just got my defender today.I like it feels fine had the commuter before this one the commuter does feel more rigid but I like not having to worry on screen. The holster does look odd will have time to test that tomorrow
Keep in mind that there are two different varieties of the defender floating around for the s3 it seems.

I bought from AT&T but now outs returnd the screen was grainy may be that's what was meant by springy... I bought back a commuter but don't want to deal with adhesive protector yet want to have a protected screen

I'm confused, do you not still have the piece of plastic on the lens from factory? That covers the entire thing to the shiny plastic ring.
You have factory plastic on still. That will scratch very easily. Remove it.

Thanks for the heads up dude.
Just peeled it off and the lens looks brand new (because it is).

The plastic doesn't cover where the lens is actually used for pictures, just the glass around it. I don't think it would make a difference.

Good question.
I honestly can't tell if this camera reacts differently to light than my s3. I feel like the s3 allowed more light in and took “brighter photos" at Lower res.
I'm going to need to mess around with this more to figure out the camera.
To answer your question, I don't know. I need to take some more photos!

Scratch magnet!

Hey guys this is well and truly a sad post
I've had my phone for nearly 3 weeks and on the second day I went out and bought a screen protector and a case for my phone as I wanted to keep it in prestine condition
Unfortunately, they didn't have back protectors. Which is the area that has scrathed the most !
They are light scratches except for one where you can feel it just slightly, and the others ( which there are a lot ) you can't.
I normally have a case on it but when I'm at home I take it out and let it be free aha
Have you guys got ant on yours?

I have always put a screen protector on the front and the back. I buy big ipad screen protector and cut them to size for foth size
I got glass in front and regular screen protector on the back of mine so that I still can use most cases without issues.
