Problem with micro usb port. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi xda.
I cant charge my phone. I made tests with 3 original micro usb cable, and got nothing(wall and usb).
I got no led, no sounds when i plug it.
So, I tried with a universal charger for batteries, and it works. So i guess my battery is fine.
Apparently my problem is the micro usb port. I do not have warranty.
Despite having no experience with maintenance, I found a video on youtube and did not seem very difficult to replace. So i searched and found on ebay a new micro usb port, for a very low price.
What you guys suggest?
Lead to assistance and wait 15 days or more, and spend more money...
Or buy at ebay and try to change myself?
Theres a way to find if my problem is really on my micro usb port?
This could be another problem?
Thanks.
sorry for my bad english.

first try to clean usb port for dirt if it does not work
disassemble your phone as shown in the video. check usb connections etc. if none solves try to find the right part on ebay and replace it.
or if you say i cant do that simple give it to samsung service and get it repaired with money

Usb cable problem

I have one question, does miniusb cable will fit with this device or need special cable ?
the blueangel has a special port, there are adapters for notebook chargers, which covers a AC-supply generalisation, but there is no standard usb cable to use. i recently got a universal and i have to say i love the mini-usb port, since you can use all new htc accessories and everything you got lying around, i actually sync my device with a cable that came with a card reader, all that, unfortunately, is not possible with the ba
I realised this yesterday after 23:58 Very bad - i don't know where to find original cable or some connector pinout. Even my siemens unlocking cable don't work.
Nothing, phone will stay with german rom, wm2003. Even flashing via sd card not possible
Blue Angel usb cables can easily be found online if you look for them I purchased a couple for 10 dollars or less.
They tended to come with a USB docking station, this is what you'd use to sync it to a computer.
I am selling one, but postage could be an issue...

Acer S100 mainboard needed

Actually, I have a weird problem.
The phone itself charges thru USB but cannot be seen by any OS, so it means that USB controller good for charging only. I have no idea if it is a software or hardware issue , but anyway.. I decided to look for motherboard, if somebody has, like spare part or broken phone. If, somebody knows a source for parts, do not hesitate to contact me.
try a new cable, some miniusb cables are supplied with some devices with no data link, and are used for charging only. that's the best place to start
C'mon, my friend..I already tried with about 6 different ones.
I have also an HTC Polaris which works as it should with this data cables.

Arghhh USB JIG has 3 pins :s

Hi, so i have made the jig well sort of.
I sliced open a micro usb cable that i had, and well i can not for the life of me find the 4/5 pins, i actually do not think my micro usb has them. :/
I have attached photos, if someone could please take a look and let me know what i should be doing, whether to get rid of the small green circuit board (and how) or if this is the incorrect micro usb cable.
I need it reset in the next 6 hours, T-Mobile arriving in the morning to take my old S2 and give me a full kit replacement.
HELP PLEASE
Thank You
Dint u say the same thing yesterday. how many times are they going to come and raid ur house ???

USB Device Not Recognized

GT-I9100, 4.1.2 stock. All of a sudden started getting this error when connecting USB cable to PC.
Note, I've been trying two different PCs (one with XP, one with Win7), different USB ports, different USB cable - same error. It charges perfectly fine with all these cables and port, but refuses to connect (Debugging on/off...you name it).
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.
OK......I think you have a faulty USB port (they DO wear out)......
Each connector in that port performs a different function. It is entirely possible that one of the connectors in your phones USB port is faulty (in your case, the data transfer connection) while the others remain functional. It is an easy and cheap part to replace.....
If you check my profile, you will see a guide I have written that explains exactly how to replace it.......
Actually.......here's the link to the guide.......

OK, let me understand something - so I need to disassemble the phone first to determine which version my board is, before I even order it, correct? In other words - no other way to determine which version/board I need to order...
Yes....afraid that is the case.....an authorised service centre would have to do it the same way (though they'd probably have every version of the board already in stock).....

hey man,
i had exactly the same with my phone. replacing the usb port of the i9100 helped. i paid 20 € for a new original! one (i think you can get them a little bit cheaper, depends on your location). be careful not to buy fake usb ports from china.
i was afraid of disassembling too. but with the video guide it is simple and easy. the most "problem" i had, was to open the cover. do not force it, be gentle. it takes some time.
you will need a very small screwdriver. you do not need a original from ebay, just go to the next walmart or whatever you have and buy one :good:
merry xmas!
Yeah....most DIY chains will do those micro screwdrivers.....hell, they even sell them in my local £1 store.......(though i imagine they're probably only good for a single use lol)

Did you check your USB cable is working. Because, there are cheap/fake usb cables out there which can only be used for charging, sometimes charging also wont work

Yes. Checked several cables, including the original that came with the phone. All of them charge the phone (in two different computers) but not connecting the USB (again, in two different computers).

Charging issues

Hello, I searched on other threads but couldn't find a good solution,I have 2 issues related to charging.
1. I need to plug the usb ( no matter what usb it is ) around until I see the message "Charging",then if I move it even a bit it stops charging and I have to plug it around the port again.
2. When it's "Charging.." sometimes it's 10% in 3 hours, sometimes it charges like 10% in maximum 15 minutes,my old samsung charger charges my phone extremely slowly ( max 20% in 10 hours ) compared to my father's charger with a better usb ( it can go up to 100% if it's in the "right position" in 8 hours )
I have 2 batteries, each has the same problem,as far as I see there is a problem with my charging port and probably I need a new charger with USB 3.0,should I get a galaxy s5 one? And how can I clean the microusb port? I don't think it's really 100% broken because if I'm lucky and it's in an optimal "adjustment" ( the usb cable from the charger ) it charges pretty well. Can it have some debris in it? If so how can I clean it? Also I'm pretty bad at following instructions on youtube so changing the microusb port myself with would be pretty tough with all that stuff,so I want to try to clean it first.
Thanks a lot for your help I have had this issue for a while and i'd appreciate any advice. :fingers-crossed:
By the way I use the outlet
1. Replace the USB port 2. Replace the batteries.
Search and read for many posts on how to clean the port, but it might be the motherboard is faulty.

i have cleaned the port, issue remains. Isn't replacing the USB port pretty hard for someone with no experience in such thing? Could I try replacing the safety pins or anything like that before going as far as replacing the port?
Pay for a repair, if you try yourself you'll just brick the phone.
