Modem by region/provider - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I would like to open this tread to report which modem is working well for you in your region and for provider.
I am in Spain + Orange. Device bought in Dubai, currently flashed XXKH3 and slight increase of the signal visible. Still testing, but it seems better than stock XXLQ5. After finding out which is the best, I will update this post.
Any suggestions about good XW (Spain) modem ?

Then you must not be searching very well. Anyway sammobile has a complete list of downloadable modems specifying what region they are intended for. There are a number for each region. Its just up to us to pick the one that works well for us.

[Q]Korean SGS2 Got ICS. Any part of the firmware of use for us?

Was looking for the stock firmware for my i957 on SamMobile and noticed under the latest firmware section the SHW-M250K which is the Korean version of the SGS2 got ICS.
I was wondering if anything out of it would help speed up the process for the rest of us.

Yeah Korean = international I think

I think we're looking for i9100, which is also there. Those two have shaded kies icons, though. Not sure what that means...
It's likely another beta firmware that sammobile promised.

What are leaks? We're talking about the firmwares shown in the OP's link.
By the way, there was already a thread for this topic, and this one's likely to meet an untimely end...

Which will be released with or around the time the update goes live. That's if Samsung wants to comply with GPL.

Not of use until source gets posted.
Let's see how good Sammy is at meeting their legal obligations this time around. They epicfailed with the Infuse (Almost a month delay...)
Maybe source will follow sooner than later. It looks like Samsung dumped to the i9100 in parts of Europe also.
I wan't a nice AT&T compatable version to run on my i777

ICS can be discussed in the ICS thread in General... asking about other firmwares for other countries does not warrant a new thread.

ICS rolling out in Europe? Really?

Hi Folks,
i just had a look on the german samsung facebook page.
I asked about news regarding the ics release date for the i9100g.
They pointed me to an answer they gave last wednesday.
They told us, that ICS for the i9100g is actually rolling out in other european countries. (others than germany)
My Question now is: can ANYBODY confirm this?
I'm afraid i know the answer right now ... So please - tell me that I'm wrong
no usable ics for i9100G.
updates:
http://twitter.com/#!/sgs2update
Ics its not released yet.
Just wait and be patiently...
Samsung its busy with the sgs3

It's possible if there are some country codes that we don't know yet, unlikely though.
i know that is isn't released yet - that was why i'm wondering about the answer i got via facebook - and i just want to verify it.
So we can summarize: Samsung Germany is definitely not telling the truth
Carphone warehouse UK is rolling out ics with the i9100 very very soon. I work for them so i can confirm this

Dude, this is not a questions forum or a forum you have any business posting topics in.
Use the General or Q&A forum. There is even a dedicated G variant Q&A stickied to top of thsi forum, It doesnt take a genius to work out where you should be posting, Just take a look at the topics in the dev forum, does yours resemble anything remotely like those?
hm - so i'm wrong here ... cool
had a look into the mentioned q+a sticky ... looks more than a dev-sticky ...
anyway ... if you are that rule-fixed - simply delete my thread and ignore the "news" - seems nobody is interested in a new / other ics leak than the chinese one ...
thanks for the warm welcome! *thumbsup*

If you want to post "news" put it into the correct section and you may get a better "welcome".
Common sense dictates that when you visit a forum you look for the most appropriate forum for your topic. If you had done that you would have quickly noticed that this specific forum is for developments from devs and not for questions or non-dev topics. This is why we also have dedicated general and QUESTIONS forums.

Bull****
Stupid rumor. Why do they shouldn't release ICS in Germany but ex. in UK should ? LOL. Btw, ICS is still unavailable at all, maybe some test versions in Asia. When ICS will be officially available, then absolutely in all countries.

ICS is available in UK via Samsung Kies. I re-stocked my device week or so back to Gingerbread and once connected to Kies it updated to ICS.

Maybe I'm reading the wrong thing, but from your screenshot and a translator, it would appear Samsung told you it was in test phase, with no exact release date set. Am I missing something?

No, they didn't. Samsung told you it's in test phase, some random fan site told you (after probably misunderstanding the question) that other countries in Europe have it.

If we talk about the I9100G, then ICS is not released at all for that model. Sooner or later it will. Just need to wait an official update in Kies or sammobile.com. P.S. if your question is about the G model, then post it in right section, cuz i'm distracted...

Dedicated modem(radio ) thread?

Hello everyone a few weeks back I tried to get a dedicated modem only thread going, but it was all played down, do, we have one such thread, cause I think one of the reasons my thread was played down was the existence of another modem only thread, could someone point me to such a thread please, as not happy with the current modem I have.

[Q] new newbie GS3

Good afternoon gentlemen.
I recently picked up a GS3 here in Thailand. Man I like this phone. I rooted it, have clockwork mod and Titanium backup. Been familiarizing myself with these and some other settings. Cant put it down lol.
I live 6 mos in Thailand and 6 mos in USA. I plan to bring this phone to America and use it there in summer. Any tips on that would be appreciated.
Model # is GT-I9300
Android Ver. 4.1.1
Kernel Ver. 3.0.31-288630
Been thinking of flashing a rom or two also. Are there ones that would work here in Thailand as well as the U.S.?
Will my version of Jellybean work in the us if I do nothing?
Thanks in advance.
Jim
Yeah, depends on the carrier. Check what US carrier supports your phone's frequencies, and you should be fine. T-Mobile should work
And don't create duplicate threads.

All ROMs will work in US, at least they should. You can always flash a different modem if you face any issues.
