[Q] SGS3 Samsung update won't install - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Everyone,
I'm fairly new to rooting phones and ROMs so if this question dosn't make sense please destroy my inner child :cyclops: I have a rooted sgs3 using odin and factory verizon build but the problem I am having is with ClockwordMod I think. The samsung update restarts the phone but ClockworkMod starts up right away and won't let the update go through. Is there a setting I need to change to allow all updates to bypass ClockworkMod or is there another way for me to get the update?
Any help is much appreciated.
Justin

Wrong forum, this is for the international version

odin and factory verizon build
In case that is misspelling and its not a USA phone but I9300 .
As posted multiple times root may prevent OTA updates .
use KIES use CHECKFUS .
OR
Try signature verification set to OFF in CWM .

if you wan't to upgrade you don't need to unroot, just flash firmware trough odin (addicted to your country)
also to unroot just flash with oding (stock firmware) and wipe data/factory reset and done,
threads are everywhere in general just look around

Since this topic is started might aswell use it instead of making a new one...so my question is:
From what I've read, in order to install CM7.2 on a Galaxy S2, you also need to install a custom kernel...so if I did all that, and want revert back to my original ROM and kernel, I just flash a stock ROM from Sammobile? Or the Kernel will remain the custom one (if so, how do I change it back to the stock one)?

Nope your kernel won't be left until you flash a Rom which has no kernel, but all Samsung roms out there have kernels inside the flashable tar or zip, you ain't smart if you don't provide a kernel which is made specially for the Rom

NEED HELP!! How to update ROM for International i9300 phone on Fido network!!!???

Hi
So I bought an International i9300 back in the summer and i've been using it Fido (Canada - doesnt support LTE yet)
and i rooted it somehow...dont know how and dont know why lol... and succeeded for whatever its worth... :good:
the last "COUPLE" of months, ive been getting these system update pop ups on my screen ALL the time!!
i've even tried to let my phone update itself but ,im guessing because of my root ,it makes my phone crash half way and forces me to reboot...
Btw,can my root be too old or is it,once its been done its done no matter how long ago you rooted?
anyways long story short,i desperately need to update my rom! the system update pop ups are super annoying and my phone is running on super old 4.0.4 :crying: and the battery SUUUUCKKKKS!!! anyways, im guessing i need a specific rom for an international i9300 running on FIDO? CAN ANYBODY HELP???!!!! IM DESPERATE!! LOL btw i might of been able to root it through ODIN at one point but don't be fooled i suck at these android things yet with a little help (hopefully) i might be able to fix this issue!
I attached a pic of my current situation...hope it help...
Hi,
You can update your rom following the instructions of this topic from "Intratech": http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671969
Just follow the instructions, it is pretty simple.
I go to sammobile to get my stock roms (http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/)
On the Intratech topic, you have anything you need to update your device.
Cheers

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S Duos ( GT-S7562 )

Hello everyone,
I have got Samsung Galaxy S Duos ( GT- S7562 ) Android Version - 4.0.4, Kernel Version - 3.0.8 - 1102401
Purchased on 11-1-2013, from INDIA, so first i installed many app on mobile internal storage, than i thought it might slow down my phone, than i went on searching for moving app to SD, i came around rooting the phone, i rooted it, YELLOW TRIANGLE came around, i don't know how to remove it, that i unrooted the phone, went on updating the firmware, it did not work, it says " fail to verify whole file signature " " Signature verification failed ".
My questions are very simple
1) How to remove YELLOW TRIANGLE, Does it affect my phone in any ways ?
2) I am not able to update my firmware to JELLY BEAN now as it could have had if i had not done any rooting ! so what should i do now ?
3) How to move app to sd ? or is it possible, if i update my firmware to JELLY BEAN, i would not need to worry about finding external help for moving app to sd, by that i mean, do JELLY BEAN gives users inbuilt privilege for moving app to sd ?
Thank You So Much For Your Concern, looking forward for the solution ... !
Hey there!
My brother has an S Duos as well. It is a great device except for its inability to move apps to SD natively. You can find the method to remove the yellow triangle here in the forums or even in Google. It's called Triangle Away. You should probably wait for another 4 months to receive official jelly bean from Samsung. Hope this helps! Hit thanks of it did!

Thnx buddy,
But after rooting it, i also unrooted it ... and than i went to update the firmware from the phone itself, which is given in settings -> About device -> Software update ... so if you said that JELLY BEAN would take 4 months ... what is the use of the this software update means ? ... but thats not my question is ... what i want to know is why it FAILED TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE ? is it because i rooted the phone ? or is there any way to update the phone, even if you have had rooted it ?
Basically i am not at all aware about engineering the software or even the hardware, so if you can help me out here ...
Thnx again ...
How To Remove Yellow Triangle
Hello people,
First of all i have resolved my own question, which i posted before, which was, removing the yellow triangle !
but i did not found any solution through post ...
but eventually i found the answer
it was very simple, you just need to put "stock recovery.tar instead of recovery.tar, in odin pda slot" so it would completely remove the rooted firmware and takes you back to original firmware & yellow triangle disappears ... yahoo ...
hope this would help people like myself ... who are very much new to all this
hope this helps ...

[Q] Unrooted, partially rooted purgatory? Please help!!!

Background:
I had my Galaxy S3 rooted on 4.0.4 ICS with no problems for several months, however when I wanted to upgrade to 4.1 Jellybean via OTA I quickly learned that the OTA update won't work on a rooted OS. I installed an called Voodoo OTA which claimed to be able to temporarily unroot you device so you can get the OTA Jellybean update. It failed, did not accomplish what it claimed to be able to do, however what it did do was patially unroot my phone to a state that it can neither be unrooted fully or re-rooted back to a full rooted state. I did a full clean wipe and factory reset and I am still in the same position. I have used the Android Toolkit for S3 to flash it back to factory state it just hangs in ODIN at the boot.img, I have attempted to root and un-root with the Android Toolkit multiple methods and .tar files, nothing, just hangs when it gets to the imaging part.
The phone is fully functional, but I feel imprisoned by the phone now as it operates like an unrooted phone, but I can't upgrade it.
Can anyone help me out of this, even to just get back to a rooted phone.
Thank you to anyone and everyone for your advice!:good:
Question one do you have an I9300 model ??
If so wipe rom flash stock firmware via Odin then root using PhilZ recovery .

I have SGH-I747 model for AT&T. I just tried using ODIN directly without the S3 Toolkit and I get a 'Complete (Write) operation failed.' see attached print screen.
It seems as though my device will not allow writing to it. My internal SD card is not encrypted.
Answer you are in the wrong forum as it says this is I9300/ 05 .

Thank you for clarifying. It's a bit confusing, I thought that was the standard model number.
