HTC one X+ Officially announced, with jellybean - HTC One X+

Don't have time to Embed, but here's a hands on with the One X+

looking froward to jelly bean for our hox if it runs as smooth as it looks on there

Interestingly X+ and X are both having the same dimensions.
Which get me really wondering if we can use X+ battery instead of ours.
Other things I find interesting is the front camera and glonass support.

Don't know how it would be possible to use the One X+ battery in the One X since the battery is non removable...
The front camera looks more flush with the surface of the phone. Not a bad call, as the recessed front camera on the One X tends to gather dust very easily.
Other than that, not a big fan of the red accents. I like the gun grey color of the One X better than the all-black OX+. Just saying

Featuring a 1.7 GHz quad-core NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 AP37 processor and 64GB of internal storage, the HTC One™ X+ LTE version is up to 67% faster than the HTC One™ X1 LTE, making the HTC One™ X+ the best rated Android phone on the market.
In addition to its increased performance speeds, the HTC One™ X+ introduces extended performance with the inclusion of a 2100 mAh battery, giving you up to 50% (6 hours) more talk time, and longer to browse the web and enjoy your favorite music and videos2.

Why are they comparing it to the One X LTE? I highly doubt if its an LTE compatible phone. Because the original Tegra T30 on the international One X didn't support LTE which is why they switched to Krait for the US model.

Main difference seems to be a 200Mhz bump in clock speeds and better memory bandwidth. Also, the performance figures also seem a bit suspect because the US One X (S4) was faster than the International One X(T30) and based on specs, this (T33) should be marginally faster than the International One X, so no reason why it should be much faster than the One X LTE(S4).
Okay read the anandtech article, its mentioned over there:
The non-LTE One X+ includes the same GSM/EDGE and WCDMA bands as the previous international version (850/900/1900/2100 MHz for WCDMA, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz for GSM/EDGE) and of course the same HSPA+ capabilities since it includes the same Intel XMM6260 baseband. I don't have any word at the moment on what LTE bands will be supported on the One X+ with LTE, but with MDM9215 and possibly WTR1605 we could see more than the One XL. Qualcomm's MSM8960 SoC contains the same IP block that's inside MDM9215 and is still 28nm. It's interesting to see the One X+ using this combination as it may finally put to rest the talk of Tegra 3 being "incompatible" with LTE.

Great, HTC definitely wants to get back into the game. But one thing, HTC, please don't discontinue support for our phones such as future OS updates.

Oh boy, I just found they added an internal amplifier inside X+. Now that's with the glonass support & new battery making it hard for me not to get the new X+.
Regarding the battery, you can always open your phone after the warranty is all over and replace it yourself.

Point taken. I just don't feel brave enough to attempt that kind of surgery.
Bah, I'll console myself with the fact that a lot of the Sense refinements should be coming to the One X anyway. Too bad for the larger battery...

The phone does look very nice! I would love one but it's not a massive change from the one x.

Will XDA be merging the forums like they did for the sensation and sensation XE?

You could always buy the X+ battery* and go to any mobile shop and make them replacing it for a small fee.
*Giving that X+ battery will works with One X.
Hopefully, I get the time to send my phone for warranty as I am suffering from the yellow screen + little problem with GPS. Then, I'll probably will consider replacing my battery.
*Sigh*, I still haven't unlocked my boot loader ,yet.

so i assume the One X roms won't work with the One X+ ?
hopefully it's easy to port them progress espacially for AOSP for the One X+

I dont think that the X+ battery will be available anywhere besides HTC Service as this is not a replaceable battery which you could buy anywhere.
Having this is mind I guess that only HTC Service could do the needed surgery to replace the old battery with the X+ one.
I have seriously doubt that they will accept to do so even if you offer to pay the amount of money needed.
On a side note it makes me wonder why didnt they equiped the HOX with this new battery in the first place???
As I remember they mumbled something like dimensions, the phone beeing thin etc etc but the dimensions of X+ are the same.
I think this is the type of behaviour that is sending people over to Samsung....
Imagine that a medium to low price device Samsung Galaxy ACE 2 will be getting jelly bean and we have to beg for it....

Never mind the battery, what about the rear cover? At least with the one x+ they seem to of given the rear camera lens a bit of protection!

The only thing that's making me jealous is the internal amplifier. With slim bean, my phone flies as it is.
I think this upgrade was necessary, especially since iPhone 5 is available now and people who wanted a 64gig device could not consider HOX as an option. Well now they can. And with this, HTC beats everything else as far as specs go.
I really like that deep black exterior. But that red ring around the camera looks ugly IMO. wonder if this new housing can be fitted on top of our HOXs.

The amp is only for the external speaker, it comes only as black and the camera lens is indeed recessed
new features in Sense 4+
Powersave profile!
and it is really called Sense 4+
we should be getting all the features of Sense 4+ as confirmed by HTC's press release

Ah yes! I've been waiting for this, I hope these Tmobile rumors are true, I would really love to own this phone!

[Q] What phone to go for after Legend?

Fellow Legend / ex-Legend users, my 2-year contract is coming to an ending, what phone are you using or eyeing now?
Highly depends on you - what your budget is, what phone choices u have, and where your from what carriers offer what. For instance the HTC Rezound is only for the Verizon network. If u want to carry on using HTC the Rezound wouldn't be a bad choice, HTC Sensation XL would be a good handset.
For me after realising most HTC phones get succeeded after 120 days from this chart:
http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/23/2651347/a-good-smartphone-comes-but-once-a-year
I went and bought an iPhone 4. But if I was to stay on Android, I'd specifically look at the Galaxy Nexus to get the plain, stock android experience and OS updates.
HTC Edge
Since here in Belgium there is almost no real advantage in using a contract (except for iPhones) I'm buying myself an Nexus S for 280€, it just got a official update to ics 4.0 and is still a fast phone
Sensation.
Sent from my awesome HTC Legend.
When I decided to get a new phone, I wanted to stick with HTC and get a Sensation, but due to it's limited availability here in Belgium at the time I went with a Galaxy S2. Worked out very well; Samsung doesn't quite have the quality feel of HTC's but it makes up in performance.
maksimilian is rite !!!
Yep ! I got a sensation for my sexond htc eventhough my 2 year plan hasnt ended yet ! I gotta say sensation is probably the most underated dualcore device ever ! Its so fast and capable if doimg so much with ADRHD by mike
HTC Sensation for sure mate

Just ordered the Galaxy Nexus. Close call between that and one of the Sensation variants
Desire S is the true succesor to the legend
Unibody design etc in a logical upgrade.
But you may be looking for more powerful phones.
I defected from the Legend to the Galaxy S2. To be honest, had just got tired of HTC Sense and wanted a change. Absolutely love the S2. And also absolutely loved rooting and then playing around with other installs on the Legend!
Only obstacle I have ahead of me is replacing the button bar beneath the screen. Have a reconditioned membrane on the way - dreading the actual fitting though!

I was hoping a Canadian carrier would pick up the HTC Desire S.
I even contemplated bringing in one from AU Telstra. But the $$$ didn't make sense for the specs.
The next handset that may tickle the fancy of HTC Legend owners is the HTC Ville. 4.3" screen but much thinner, and unibody still.

Telstra runs HSDPA 850 and their version of the HTC Desire S (S510B) is compatible with Canadian 3G.
Personally, i'm going for the next HTC or Samsung with a 3.7-4 inch screen, dual or quadcore processor or even beyond, with atleast a gig of ram
currently i have a Desire Z.
Defy+
Since you are owning the legend, you probably like your phone small and reasonably sturdy. In that case I recommend the defy+, very fast (compared with any single-core phone) but much better battery life and significantly smaller than all the highend phones, the screen is not OLED but very decent LCD with pixel density to rival the iphone4 (highest density android i know of), and above all, it's cheap. Probably free or less than 50EUR with a contract. Best value on the market IMHO. My only gripe is the missing front camera.
Samsung S II
After refusing update to 2.3.x and complex rooting procedure I went to SGS II.
ex-Legend user here.

My VF contract is up soon as well but I can't wait to get shot of it so I've gone for an Xperia Ray.
Great screen - higher PPI than Defy+, density fans
Decent CPU/GPU - same as Xperia Play and Desire S (which my wife has, perfectly fine for most games etc.)
Even smaller than Legend, but with slightly bigger screen
Much better GPS locking, wifi range, network signal retention, battery life etc. from what I've heard
Just as tough - I need it to be pocket proof, my Legend has spent nearly 2 years in my pocket without screen protector and still looks amazing despite kids jumping on me etc.
Confirmed ICS upgrade in a few weeks
I've got in unlocked via CPW on a price match against O2 who are doing it for £200 at the moment - bargain. SIM will be a GiffGiff £10/mo job with unlimited data.
Figure I'll keep it for 6-12 months then sell it on and get a Krait-powered equivalent. Should get most of my £200 back at that point.
Bye bye contracts!
In my eyes the true succesor to the legend is the HTC Sensation
1,2 - 1,5 ghz dual core snapdragon
unibody
htc quality (no ****ty samsung plastic but aluminum casing)
and fast as hell
Had mine but after 2days I got a dead pixel so I send it back, now waiting for my new replacement HTC Sensation
I highly recomend it, only problem it has is battery life but that can be fixed by placing an htc evo3d battery or installing an aosp rom (with no sense)

As much as I agree HTC phones have a distinctive build quality, they're underutilised with the one of the slowest Dual-Core chips on the market.
The younger UGLY brother to the Legend is the HTC Salsa, but the real successor to the HTC Legend is the HTC Desire S.

Galaxy S3.
Do not get Samsung, trust me they do not have the craftsmanship and it's features are mediocre at best. It's exfat is broken and the screen breaks easily thanks to 20% thinner gorilla glass; its very expensive to repair because it is glued on it.
I recommend you phone such as: Motorola DROID razr maxx hd(uses kevlar back cover which is the same material used for bullet proof vest, and it has the largest battery life of android on its size), HTC butterfly if you could get one(has 1080p ips rgb display on 5" size, quad core s4 pro, adreno 320, 2gb ram, microsd, 2nd best camera sensor atm first is lumia 920), the upcoming Sony phone that also has 1080p display and quad core s4 pro. If you want the absolute best that is currently available atm, you cannot get it because it is only available on sprint and the phone is called EVO 4G lte which uses anodize aluminum construction, kickstand, and microsd slot, krait cores, 2nd best camera sensor and the fastest Brower atm(sun spider score on its stock browser is 1.2-1.3k on ics

I think you little hard on Samsung, even I'm not a fan I can see how they won that large market share by providing alot of feature, good hardware and varieties
Motorola is almost rare here in my market, I thought of the Maxx series for the large battery but the Note II battery numbers are really impressive
No More HTC, I've using HTC devices from mid 2010 and the big failure in HTC one X (lousy battery, overheating, poor screen protection, got three scratches without a reason ) and for the record, my touch buttons are not working and I'm having it repaired at the moment by replacing the full touch screen
I think that replied on siwo.jack as well
Lumia 920 I guess it will be great but it yet pretty early to judge and I was for two and half years an android user so I'm not sure about winmo 8
Sony Phablet yet to be available and yet to judge either
EVO 4G lte is an HTC and N/A here

but 16 GB most !!
also when it come to my country it will be late and priced to the roof
S3 i would say... and S2 is still a best option
:good: go for s 3 ... nice phone ... Note II is also good option but it all depends how you are going to use it. if you carry it daily S3 and S2 are good options ... Note II lil difficult to carry around daily in some crowded places ... fear to loss it
technically both are best phones ...
So wait bro it will be released soon trust me the phone is a monster

I think while the Samsung Galaxy S3 is great, you can not really go wrong with the new Nexus 4 by Google. The price point is just incredible. Of course, if absence of LTE doesn't bother you.
The big question always is, "what are you going to do with it?". Different people have different priorities. For me, camera/screen is a big factor. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you'll find a better camera on an android phone than the S3.

It's actually the other way round. The one x+ has the darker blacks and the more vibrant colours. The one x had 3 different screen manufacturers. And the HOX+ screen is dimmer than one of them, but on par with the other two. But to be frank, i find all this drama about screen brightness perplexing. Too many drama queens with not enough to do.

Like AndroHero says, there are three types of screen for the One X:
For the One X there were 3 (or even more) manufacturers
- Acer = 0x4940014
- Sharp = 0x294000f
- Sony = 0x181033
Acer and Sharp were much used in the EU, Sony in the USA...
Also check out: Screen types of the HTC One X+
For the HTC One X+ there is just one type that we know: 0x944a03, from an unknown manufacturer
Great post CLB-NL.
I have the one x now, and was thinking of jumping on the + since my one x is att and only dual core. Is the one x+ much faster than the older 2 core ?
Forgot to say but I live in Europe (The Netherlands) so the 'normale One X' also has got a Tegra 3 quadcore CPU
So how's 1gb of ram performing? Looking at current trends to fit 2gb in new devices, does multitasking still work kind of not right like in one x?

Just to clarify something for me, I went out and bought a one x+ today, this 64gb internal memory it has or 54 that's usable, is that all available for me to put apps onto? I'll try and explain what I mean more if its not clear, I've read that the original one x while claiming to have 16 or 32gb only actually had around 2gb you could install apps onto.
I played around in the settings of both today and what I found confirmed this, but with the one x+ it just lists the internal memory and no specified amount just for apps, is this true or is it just being hidden now?
I've just upgraded from a 2 1/2 year stint with my old desire and one of the most frustrating things was its lack of space for apps so I don't want to be in a position like that again.
Thanks for any help and sorry for the long winded post, it's just I've tried to find the answer myself and couldn't so if someone could just clear it up for me that would be lovely

And you think you will run out of app space with 54GB lol the internal storage of the device is 64GB but because of the way its formatted and system partitions ect, only 54GB is available to the user, but all 54GB can be used for apps if necessary

Yes, I upgraded from a One X to a One X+ and there is quite a bit of difference in the speed. Although the battery on the X+ is larger I got slightly better battery life with the One X. Other than those two things I can't tell much difference between them.

And you think you will run out of app space with 54GB lol the internal storage of the device is 64GB but because of the way its formatted and system partitions ect, only 54GB is available to the user, but all 54GB can be used for apps if necessary

Thanks for replying, don't worry I'm not worried about running out of space with that much storage, I was just concerned that it might be partitioned the same as the one x but didn't display it, as 2gb doesn't seem like very much considering the size of some games being released.
Anyway thank you for clearing that up for me, it's much appreciated

New Info: HTC M7 and Sense 5

Some rumors and leaked images about the HTC M7 and *apparently* the Sense 5 UI.
original story: (with screenshots) http://www.slashgear.com/htc-m7-and-sense-5-ui-leak-reveals-more-details-11264958/
CES 2013 may be winding down, but the news keeps on rolling. Today, a handful of screenshots have leaked that apparently show off HTC’s Sense 5 user interface for Android, which will run on the also rumored M7 that we’ve talked about in the past. The group of screenshots also comes with a picture of the UI running on an HTC phone which could possibly be the M7 itself.
This is technically the first actual photo of what may possibly be the HTC M7. However, it doesn’t show off much, other than the display and a little bit of the bezel. Then again, it looks like HTC will be bringing their polycarbonate design over from Windows Phone 8, so we’ll know what to expect slightly, given those circumstances.
The screenshots show a little bit of what to expect out of Sense 5, and it’s definitely been given a slight redesign. However, for those wishing that the new HTC Sense UI will someday be closer to stock Android, we can’t see that happening anytime soon, since the company loves its Sense interface and many users love it right back.
However, the screenshots hint at a little bit of details on the hardware of the M7. We still see the legacy menu button in the screenshots, which suggest that the M7 will come with the same three capacitive touch buttons just like the HTC One series, with a dedicated on-screen menu button when needed. Overall, though, the Sense 5 UI looks bit a cleaner and simpler than Sense 4.x.
As far as other rumors go for the M7, we’re looking at a 4.7-inch 1080p display with a 1.7GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. There’s also supposedly going to be 32GB of internal storage, a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera, and a 2300mAh battery to power it all.

Do you think we will see Sense 5 officially on our DNA?

If HTC sticks with their new jellybean upgrade pattern of all devices getting the same sense, yes
If not? Then no

Pretty sure we will. Our hardware definitely will support it. Plus it's Verizon's premium htc device.... Now the timetable for the update... Well, that could be a while.

Love how they talk about how the M7 as the phone that brings over the polycarbonate design from the Windows phones....when the DNA uses polycarbonate.

Why of why it's not 5-inch 1080p screen smartphone? Kind of bummer. I also thought this one is gonna be the Tegra4-armed device.

I'm wondering is the 13MP camera sensor has Exmor technology on it? If so, then it's must be from Sony, right? Just like on Lenovo IdeaPhone K900.
You know, to me the m7 isn't that much of an upgrade. I love my DNA. 8 to 13 mp for my phone display isn't a game changer in my mind. The increased storage and slightly faster cpu aren't either. And you lose screen size.

I have no doubt we will see this on our phone ~eventually~, I know devs will have it on our DNA before HTC does, IF they do.
I am coming from the ReZound where I had Sense 4, something that was never intended to be on it, and before that, the HTC Droid Inc, which had AOKP ICS
I actually really hope Sense5 doesn't look like this, because they need to start going WITH the times and not against it. I still can't believe they retain their fat statusbar with the lame grey to black gradient >_< what is this, sense 2???
Don't really care for Sense 5, I'm holding out for Viper Rom or an aokp-based Rom.
tks
M7 will be a good phone no doubt...but I like my 5 inch 1080p screen too much.
I can't wait to see what phones come out this year that will tempt me to sell my DNA.
If sense 5 looks radically different don't count on it. Vzw doesn't want the average customer that buys it and doesn't tinker to have to experience a forced major UI change. It confuses the average consumer whether its for the good or bad. Just my $.02

So, what do we think? It's probably real because EVleaks has been spot on with all their previous leaks of HTC's devices. I kind of like it and it's nice to see HTC taking a new design approach. The whole soft edged rectangle thing was getting a bit stale. It will be really cool if the display is edge-to-edge horizontally making it ultra-thin in its class. I give them credit for trying something different.

the leaked screenshots dont make it look as different from sense4 as sense4 was from sense3.6...that change was about as different as you could get

That's what I was referring to. The Rezound not getting 4.0 officially. It was a big change even one for the better kept from the consumer.

Personally I'm hoping that *AT LEAST* in a new version of Sense, that they make the UI proportionate... I run the DPI at 320 and when I flashed a rom that went back to 480 DPI, God it was ugly! Haha. Having the Digital Dreams rom, at 320 DPI... the phone truly looks beautiful and futuristic as far as the UI goes, not including the hardware itself is gorgeous.

Zero Regrets Getting HOX+ Over HTC One

The launch of the HTC One yesterday reassured me that I didn't make a big mistake getting the HOX+ last month instead of holding onto my old Galaxy Nexus for a little longer and waiting to get the HTC One.
Based on the initial benchmarks of the HTC One, the HOX+ is still a solid little performer in comparison.

HTC One X+ (Mine)
Definitely holding onto the HOX+ until later this year/early next year to see what the X-Phone brings to the table and/or next Nexus phone (hopefully with AT&T LTE support).
I couldn't agree more. The One may be more powerful, but that's really about it. It has a dumb button layout and it frankly isn't as pretty of a device. The 1080p screen will make no difference unless you've got the phone right to your face, but will eat up the battery quicker. And for the Sense fans, the One X+ is probably going to get Sense 5 in a few months anyway.
Already decided I'm selling my hox+ for the one. I love the look, love that it has a premium design and build. I also love the fact that it has a more powerful and most importantly more efficient processor with an even larger battery, I'll be glad to get rid of this tegra 3 phone. Everything else announced for the one is just a bonus.

I disagree. I think this phone is going to be completely forgotten by ATT and HTC. It has been a sales failure in every respect, simply because HTC does not market their products in the US at all anymore. I doubt you will every see any updates to this phone whatsoever.

I see plenty of advertisements of HTC, they still market in the US.
I can guarantee you that the HTC one will be highly marketed across all countries
Who cares anyway? This is XDA, we will see a port eventually

I know no reason why I should sell my HOX+ for a HTC One.
Yes, better hardware etc.
But I think the HOX+ is an awesome phone.
I love it since I have it.
Easy to root, easy to flash and easy to recover.
So I don't want to change it.

So you're saying the HOX+ doesn't have a premium design and build, really? And you've also determined this by pictures and videos posted online of the HTC One, having never personally held it?
I agree with you on the power efficiency, but that's about it.
Don't get me wrong the HOX+ is a nice phone, but when you compare metal vs plastic, metal easily wins. Finally an amazing top of the line Android phone with the quality of an Apple product.
As for how it feels in the hand I haven't read one hands on review that said it didn't feel wonderful in their hands.

It's also AT&T's job to market the devices they sell. For whatever reason they think the HOX+ just going to magically sell itself.
Its all purely subjective, I prefer to keep this device since I just bought it recently until the HTC one is cheaper.

Of course HTC one would win almost in every aspect then HOX+ because it is HTC's brand new flagship phone for 2013. We can judge the phone when Samsung unveiled their SGS4.
Until then, like last year, buyer will have their honeymoon with HTC.
I personally would wait till SGS4 come or even Nexus 5 because I dont want to buy a phone without "equal challenger" to be compared :laugh:
Something to consider here is the button layout - since there is no more menu button, that ugly black bar for the soft menu button will always be around in old apps.

I wouldn't worry about that, i might be wrong but that bottom section is an extension of the touch screen. So they should be able to map a new key in the center when the HTC logo is for a menu button

Coming from IOS where the screen is small and the iPhone4 is slower the HOX + is a solid upgrade for me even if it charges slow..
That New One looks crazy but i wont be upgrading any time soon.
Having the HTC Legend in the past, I can't freaking wait to get rid of my One X+ for the HTC One just because of its aluminum cover (& of course better battery life, & a few other small upgrades).
My One X+ is a good phone, I can't complain much except the battery is still weak in my opinion, even though I dont play games on my phone.
& the greenish of picture quality from this One X+ is a shame!!!
Never get excited about ANY phone until this HTC One. Can't wait!!!
besides the aluminum cover & better battery life, this http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one-review-889p4.php is more than enough reason to trade in.
AW: Zero Regrets Getting HOX+ Over HTC One
Do you guys think that there will be overheating with the htc one
If yes than there is no real reason for me to change phones
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
Its a quadcore yes it is gonna get hot when you get it going my question is the alluminum case dose it retain heat worse than our one x + because metal is a better conductor tham the rubbery material ours is made of
It would be funny if they all overheat worse than ours I donno what HTC did but metal has to get hot and I can barley touch my rubbery phone when it gets to hot specially on my ear
Sent from my HTC One X+ using XDA Premium HD app
I'd be worried that the "improved battery" in the One, at least by mAh standards, will be offset by what I'm sure is a VERY power-hungry 1080p display when compared with our HOX+ 720p one.
Moving on to a new device. Thanks Lloir and Maxwen for some nice AOSP action
