Hello mate and thanks for posting the info.
When you say 'only install the playstation certificate', are you saying there's an option to pick what to install after you select the downloaded ZIP in TWRP / CW?
I really want to try this but I fear bricking my device if there's some other manual step required, such as modifying the ZIP prior to flashing from recovery.
Any additional information from you, or anyone who has applied this, would be greatly appreciated!

I tried copying the two files from the zip to system/etc/permissions and system/frsmework and setting permissions on both to rwrr and i get the error code when starting the app. I'm not unlocked just rooted. I read on the other post about this that is all that needed to happen but no luck. It's there a way to tell from the zip what else i may need to do? I'm on JB as well.
Thanks
Brandon

sorry i did not mean permission , (CERTIFICATE)
first download the the first file- , you should be able to download it straight from your phone, you said you are rooted ? make sure you have access to RECOVERY MODE - after your download, go in there, find the CERTIFICATE and FLASH IT . . . follow the steps given on here.
i did it twice to make sure it wasnt luck , and it worked great.

I tried one more time instead of flashing but doing it manually and the key was to completely power off instead of just rebooting. I don't know why but after that the PSM app quit erroring and works now. So it is possible to do it manually without flashing.
Side note, I tried to get into recovery and it gave me a dead android icon. I started with Power + Vol Down, chose the RCK icon and then it died. So I don't know what is up there. First time I had ever tried to get into recovery mode.
Thanks,
Brandon

Installation works as described!
But when I try to log in with my PSN credentials, I get a 'Deze service is niet beschikbaar in uw land/regio'. (This service is unavailable)
I live in Belgium. Will this be available in the future?
Or what can I do about this?
Thanks in advance.

that means you probably just updated to JB, you need to flash a recovery

No luck for me.
Running JB rooted only, NOT unlocked.
Installed apk.
Copied .jar file and .xml to correct directories and changed permissions on the .jar to 644.
Shutdown and restart.
Error 8008103E when trying to open.
Any ideas where I went wrong?
Never mind, you have to change permissions on the .xml file to 644 also. The AndroidPolice instructions leave that part out.

[Q]Sony BootLoop Solution??

[Q]Sony BootLoop Solution??
Only post here is somebody get the solution of bootloop problem..
i think that the only think that we can do is wait for someone that posts an update.zip to be flashed via recovery, obviously for the different versione..mine is 16gb 3g (europe sgpt114it)...your is?
I understand that we're all happy we got root, but you gotta be careful running out and deleting/freezing everything without a proper way to restore!
Also, these question threads should all be moved to general.
sorry for posting here, but I can see many people facing this similar boot loop issue & other threads are getting flooded, that is why I posted here..
Lets try to find some way as of now to get rid of this frustrating boot loop !!!
EDIT:
Can anyone tell me, what exactly should be present inside those update.zip?
I am not able to unzip or see the content of signed-nbx03_001XXXXXXXXX.zip, giving some error !!!
it gives errors because the zip is encrypted
what if someone posts a full rom dump and i flash all the files manually via adb?
I tried with another zip and now in Recovery Mode , getting below error:
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

on that boot loop - do you have access to adb? for a second or two?

i had, now it just hangs on the sony logo on the boot..the only hope left is an original update.zip for my model...

Since some files are encrypted or contain personal keys, I would think that this would be not advisable. Especially if you have the 3G version (IMSI keys, eyc.)
However, if you can remember what was the last action you performed before the bootloop (for example, uninstalled a particular system app), I would be happy to find the .apk and/or relevant system folder for you so you can install it via ADB (I suppose this would be possible, provided you still have ADB access and root/su).
I was trying to change the fonts using FONT CHANGER, I have not deleted any of the default apps or anything.

****.. thats not good.. you cant even reflash the same version of update..
you could wait for another update from sony, or wait for some hack of recovery, or hm... warranty?
are you able to get into recovery?
I am able to go into Recovery Mode, tried updating thru sdcard but I think we dont have the proper firmware to restore!!!
Its under warranty but donno wanna go there, it needs a solution coz I will again try to change fonts for sure
Did you try looking at condi's post? I am not quite sure what condi managed to achieve, but it sounds at least relevant.
Also, bear in mind I have posted a link to the contents of the (stock) font folder. If we knew exactly what changes are made by this application, it would be possible to revert them. If you can find out, I can find the stock files for you so you can manually reverse this issue.
EDIT: Do NOT try any of the above -- according to sapphire88. You've been warned!
tried both the way, by replacing the fonts with the original ones and by editing the build.prop...the results is that now i'm stucked at the sony logo (no more one time access to the home screen) ...contacted sony to ask them if i could have the original firmware in update.zip format...perhaps (i don't really think that they will give it to me)...
Well, this still makes no sense however. Can we approach the developer of Font Changer and ask the sort of changes the application is performing? I assume that it is not just replacing fonts, but also some system files that point to the fonts that are being used. If we could track all changes and reverse them, surely this would fix the issue.
What about condi's downgrade/upgrade option? (you said it did not work)
Also, do you still have access to ADB (perhaps in recovery)? If you do, then you can still essentially find ways to fix this issue. But for the time being let's black list Font Changer.
i haven't used an app to change the fonts, i've manually replace the three clock fonts (only those three files), and it ended in a bootloop, in recovery adb doesn't work and i can't no more access to the home screen to use adb..
anyone know about Safety Mode?? How to enter into safety mode.
Note: I am NOT talking about Recovery mode..

ADB is available in recovery - just wait a minute or two - it will become available. But its not fully working as in normal boot. Check it, you can 'adb push' some files, maybe you could turn your fonts to stock ones?

Yes, I figured it out some time ago, press power + vol-down, and keep vol-down pressed until tab fully start system.
ohh, so safe mode of no use as we are stuck with boot loop !!!

CWM - Based Recovery Xperia s - The easy way

Hi all, i recently scoured these forums searching for the most simple way to achieve recovery on the Xperia S. Of course to no avail to a newbie like myself. My device is rooted and with ICS, with an unlocked bootloader. I initially tried to achieve CWM by using the application on the market (Prior to obtaining root but with unlocked bootloader & ICS). I recently tried to achieve CWM using the CWM - Xperia on the market and success it worked! Simply click the "Reboot into recovery mode" within the application and it will install CWM into the system partition so you can use recovery! I am unsure whether this has been posted recently but i avoided posting it elsewhere due to restrictions and the like, i hope this hasn't been discovered yet and im not just being ignorant to the forum i literally could not find any news of this elsewhere!
If needs be, i will make a guide on how to achieve this including the rooting and flashing steps i took.

CWM is some kind like the Bios from your pc...except does not have the same functions
it`s a recovery, where you can backup your rom and restore if something goes wrong with your phone!
with it you can install some custom ROM`s
you can clear cache...dalvik cache....and a lot more to do!
but really the mos usefull function of it is the backup-restore and the flash of different modules rom`s and kernels!
it`s better to have cwn just in case

install Sony PC Comanion first
second check the usb debugging box from {}developer options
then just plug your phone into the usb
after that double click on install.bat
i am on unlocked bootloader
i don`t know if it works with locked bootloader
it should work
another way to install CWM is to flash a kernel wich already have CWM on it!
to do that you must install fastboot driver an connect your phone in fastboot mode to your pc(with the phone shut off pres and keep volume up key and plug into USB untill the blue led is on)
than go to the extracted folder(in the attachment) and pres and hold shift key + right click
select from menu open command window here
in the cmd window type " fastboot flash boot kernel.elf" without the comma`s
it will install the Xperia SSpedd OC @ 1,67 MHZ and you will get CWM olso on your device!
After installing that to enter CWM pres volume up when booting the phone while the blue led and light stripe is on!
this is olso for unlocked bootloader,i don`t know if it works for locked bootloader since my phone is with unlocked bootloader from the day 1!
Again simply installing this APK from the market seems to be less daunting.

Open "ZipSigner 2" on your tablet.
Press the "Input" button and browse /sdcard/VpnFaker_unsign.apk
Press the "Output" button and save it as /sdcard/VpnFaker.apk
Key/mode select "platform"
Press "Sign the file"
Not the picture right?? That confused me when I was doing it (terrible screenshot) LOL
I used V11 and didn’t do anything for VpnFaker.apk.
It was all automatic (almost). Except terminal emulator.
Did you install this to tablet?
When you start script, terminal emulator must show up (on the tablet) and type 2lines by instruction (ignore errors).
Then it’ll work.
Well I've also tried, I think, everything; using different versions of the automated script, doing the process manually, resigning VpnFaker.apk, yet still, no success. I have a Turkish tablet, but had changed it to US using condi's tool before rooting it on HC. Any thoughts?

OK Try this.
Do the factory reset and install terminal emulator only (forget the VpnFaker.apk).
Command prompt – type “adb devices”, device number should come up. Leave it open.
If it doesn’t, need to install correct adb driver.
Then run the script and follow instruction. Need to reboot few times till terminal emulator show up (on the tablet) and type 2lines by the instruction (ignore the errors).
Then it’ll work.

Unable to install gapps through recovery

I've been trying for the last 3 hours to unlock the bootloader on my Xperia Tablet Z (SGP 311).
The issue I appear to be having is the driver. I get the Windows sound of a unregonised device.
I've followed the Sony guide and also tried with FlashTool, but it tells me I need to install the drivers they provide, which I've done but still unable to to unlock the bootloader.
Can anyone help, as this is driving me mad

OK, I think I've managed to unlock the bootloader, as I finally got the drivers to work.
Now, how to install 'pollux-windy', as when I boot into 'fastboot', I don't see anything on the screen of my tablet? I've put the image on the tablet and extracted the 'boot' image, but I don't know how to access it to run?

When trying to install from cmd prompt, I get "error: cannot load 'boot.img': No error"
Can anyone assist?
Thanks in advance.
Can anyone assist a man in need?
Something has happened, as when I now reboot the device, all I get is 'Free Xperia' and the blue man?
Any ideas?
Great news, I've got it working, finally and such a relief.
However, I've added gapps.zip to the device, but when going into the recovery, I'm unable to see that zip to install it. When I look on the device using file manage, it's there?
Any ideas why I can see it on the device and I know it's there, but I can't install it from the recovery?
Can anyone assist, as I don't even have the 'Play' store...
Thanks in advance.
was the gapps on the internal of your memeory, what recovery are u using? if u r using cm10.1 it has cwm as the recovery nd it should mount every locate accurately. my suggestion nd what i do is inhave a micro-sd in my tablet. if u have a micro-sd i would put the file on the card nd when in recovery go to the external. but it sounds like to me that u need go back in folders to root of the system. and got to data/media nd that should show files that u might have transfered from any 4.1.2 rom

Issue resolved, thanks for the pointer skiwong20.
Basically, it was in a folder called '0' that must've been created at some point and not the root level of the SD card. But all now working and thanks for the pointer!
Thanks.

I did see your original reply before deletion and granted, I hadn't taken it fully onboard and made a schoolboy mistake to not spot the folder structure. However, was glad the forums were here to offer support and help and that's what I believe it's all about, a support forum...

Hi,
I have a samsung SM-T705. (8.4 LTE) I started with the requirement to have simple root access.... I doesn't matter which android version I have . 6.0.1 is fine with me which is the official release.
What did I do:
I had android 6.0.1 official update on the phone. Tried kingroot but no luck.
Kingroot for windows. No luck
Flashed some download with odin on slot ap but no luck. Those include a 7.0.1 version . no luck.
Wiped data/cache/ factory reset en some things I do no remember and I do not uunderstand what to do ...
Tried to flash a recovery.img into recovery and or system/image but still seeing twrp...
The phone rebooted, rebooted, rebooted, rebooted but no luck.... tried other thing ... no luck.
So no I'm stuck and have no good thing what to do now. The current situation is: the phone can be booted and I come directly in TWRP 3.1.1.0 when i started the device.
1. How to proceed ?
2. Which download should I use in order to get achieve a android version with root access with supersu and in what should I flash this.
I have USB connection to my windows laptop and have
Any help will be appreciated.

Just Don't go Solo Next Time and Don't tinker With Anything Without Having a Backup In TWRP.
Make a backup Now Zip it and Save it on a Desktop.
Do A Nandroid Backup[Go to TWRP>backup(Tick everything)]
Zip it and Save it on A PC or an Accessible.

Thxs I made a backup. Everything is working good but I cannot use mobile data. I configured APN 100% correctly. Calling is possible. Selecting a network operator not (which I need as I travel a lot). Do you have any suggestion to solve this? If not I cannot use the linguageos release for this.
Thxs in advance.
