Does CyanogenMod (9 or 10) support Bluetooth Apt-X codec? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As in the thread... I already have Apt-X enabled headphones, and I'm thinking of getting SGSIII but CM is crucial feature for me. Maybe someone could confirm it?

aptx is proprietary, one have to pay to use it, hence CM will not include it, which leads us to ask, which kind soul have ripped the codec and kindly placed in a CWM zip in anonymous site for all to download???

@ BenG7, thanks for links with instructions of : -
Could it be as simple as extracting:
- libbluetooth_jni.so (?),
- libbt-aptx-4.0.3.so,
- libbt-codec.so (?),
- libbt-codec-aptx.so
from /system/lib from the default rom
and copy these into the /system/lib of the desired rom with the same permissions?
Have you tried it?
or do you want me to try it? I don't know how, but I will study your instructions in much more detail and reply later. I doubt I can make it work, not only am I not computer programming coding literate, but am also busy with work.
Still, it's great advice / tips.

No I haven't tried yet, to be honest I want to be cautious and gather all the information I can get before I try as I am no developer. Don't try either, look here, it's already been tested:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45831034
but surely there must be some developer tool that could allow to track these pointers, I am investigating the point
Thanks

Welcome to Dev.
1. This is Dev. Not Q&A. Not "herpy-derpy I don't know how to mount rfs" fun time. We're not here to help you with your stupid problems that you could have just googled.
2. ALL-CAPS IS NOT CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL. Even if it was, even cruise control needs a decent driver.
Now google, "How to mount RFS in (operating system, preferably linux), and see what you get.
Good? Good.
Now, lock or move.

This is Dev. Not Q&A. People shouldn't go to Dev to ask questions about general Android information. Furthermore, I'm here to publish to push forward (in the limited ways I can) development for the Galaxy Player. Dev's don't need crap mucking up this area.

Many times, no. It's not needed. For basic compilation, it's really not. Anyway, many people can just dump the files they need from the device itself.

Automatic can also mean that a zip does this work. Most of the people don´t care if a zip deodexes it or does it push deodexed files.
But if you want, I will remove automatic. Should I?

Usefull Critism as always.
Most users don't know how to do it, hence this thread makes a sence.
Automic is indeed misleading, but won't matter for users.
Main thing is - This already has been posted before, including LED FIX, so there is actually no need for this thread.

sorry friend Idk to edit the package too
if you are rooted you can try flashing the latest gapps package that should fix this and try fixing permissions
if you are not rooted then wait for someone to edit it for you or do a search and do it yourself

1) Firmware (aka FW) and APK development is completely different.
2) What do you mean for "modify"? Modify existing source or reverse-engineering an existing app and modify it?
3) The website is not working, at least for me.

I would recommend taking a look at this guide on "How to Port OEM Apps / Vendor Apps to Your Current ROM" as a great starting place for starting to get the app to work.

Thank u for your advices.
U mean the path "/system/lib", right?
I have found 4 files (below) which contain "camera" in their names, but just have no idea to add into apk file.
Is there any possibility to the files that don't contain "camera", but are relative to the camera?

Once you find out the dependent files (Re-read the guide) you take these files and package them in CWM flashable .zip not necessarily adding them into the apk file.

Oh, really? That's kinda nice, although yeah the depth-of-field working would sure be nice. I'll have to try it out tonight. I can just use the .apk from the OP, correct?
Well I tried installing that .apk from the OP. Had to allow installation from unknown sources first, then after hitting Install, it asked me to give Google permission to send data and whatever else. Regardless if I select Accept or Decline, I always get an "App not installed" message.
Damnit, I was looking forward to using it! I think I'm gonna try stripping it from the stock ROM myself.

Alrighty, thanks. I actually was searching for PixelMaster .apk this weekend but didn't have much luck besides seeing a ton of frickin spam sites masking as legit .apk download sites. I'll do another search tonight.
Hopefully I can get the .apk to install. It sure would be nice to have the depth-of-field working, but after skimming through that thread linked earlier (How to Port OEM Apps to Your Current ROM) there's no way I can follow that. It's nice the guy put together a guide, but being unfamiliar with this stuff I need to follow something written in clear English.
I guess the ASUS Camera app was easier to find than I thought. The first time I tried it was nothing but spam site after spam site. Maybe it was Bing's fault, haha.
But I got version 2.0.0.150805_5 and it installed with no problem and works great. Thanks for your help, ejames2001, I appreciate it.
