hello! i just installed cm10, led is not working and when i try to delete lights.msm7x27.so the phone show me this message: could not delete file!
what can i do?
thanks!

Install ES File Explorer from the market, then from its settings enable 'Up to root' 'root explorer' and 'remount /system' you'll then be able to delete it.

Yea its fairly easy, I used FX with root addon but use any root enabled file manager, go to /system/lib/hw and delete the lights_msm7x27.so file reboot your phone and your lights will be working again.

[HOW TO]Install Gapps on CM7 for Gen8

This is just a short howto to bring Gapps on Cyanogenmod 7 for Archos Gen8 devices:
First you need two things:
-download a root file explorer like Astro or ES Filemanager or Rootexplorer(costs a few bucks but its still worth! you only can copy a apk of it if you purchased and installed rootexplorer in stock archos firmware. copy the apk in stock firmware from /system/app to sdcard, so you can install it in the bootet CM7)
-download gapps for CM7: http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip
Second you must extract your gapps.....signed.zip to sdcard.
Now make a reboot and boot CM7!!!
The following steps will not work in stock Archos firmware!!
Take your root file explorer and mark all apps in the extracted folder /sdcard/gapps-gb-20110613-signed/system/app and copy all apks to /system/app.
Now close file manager and reboot your device.
Once your device reboots it should take you to the start up wizard.
Open market and enjoy your CM7 on your device!!!
If this helps or if you can improve this how to you are welcome!!
Sorry for my bad english, i read it better than write it correctly

what can it be?

Sorry dont know what the reason could be.
Its. Needs to be rooted to copy the files?
I think you have root if you use cyanogen mod 7 - or do you use stock firmware?

i used es file explorer and astro (payed version)
Astro gives me the notification that it failed to copy
Es doesnt do a thing
ill try root explorer too then.
Edit : root explorer doesnt copy it either :s
ok i got it , booted in cyanogen , used root explorere there and could copy
in stock firmware archos i didnt get asked for super user permission....
Because you don't have root in Stock.
Just edited my first post to boot (after extracting all zips) to CM7.
Hope its clearer now.

I find it funny your saying boot to CM7 all gapps does is give you market, and other google apps. It does not give you CyanogenMod.

i find it funny you haven't read all lines......if you would have, you would have seen that i sayd "....copy the apk in stock firmware from /system/app to sdcard, so you can install it in the bootet CM7!"
that means i assume you have already installed CM7.....and the thread says it too:
"How to install GAPPS on CM7 for Gen8" and not "How to install CM7 and GAPPS on CM7 for Gen8!"

[Q] How to know SGS2 is Rooted?

Hi Bros & Sis,
I have GPS issue on my SGS2, which lead me to this site for the fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239713
It need a rooted device and Root Explorer for the fix, so after the search, I found this guide for rooting:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
After following the steps and my SGS2 should be rooted.
However, I try to make changes to GPS.conf file in /system/etc, I'm not allow to do so.
If my rooting steps is corrected, how can I know whether SGS2 is rooted?
I do see that warning triangle during boot and if that's the indication, what do I miss out that I can't change the file?
Thank you very much for the help.
I'm not familiar with Root Explorer, but there should be an option to remount R/W somewhere, which you'd need to do to save changes in /system.
To check if you're rooted, look for Superuser in your app drawer. Also, you should probably have got a prompt when opening Root Explorer saying "Superuser request" which would indicate that you're rooted.

You can use Root Check app from the Market.
Maybe you have to use a kind of root explorer and activate to mount your system partition with read/write access.
I am using ES Datei Explorer app from the Market, and I had to activate the root options in the explorer's app menu first.
Good luck !

Yes, there is this Remount as R/W, but there is no respond in /system.
When open Root Explorer, I'm granted Superuser permission, but still no permission to edit gps.conf.
That's why I'm wondering where have I done wrong.
Thank you.

I had try the Root Check App and it stated rooted.
For Root explorer, there is this Remount as R/W, but is just don't work in /system or /etc folder.
I can't find ES Datei Explorer, only ES File Explorer. And it stated granted Superuser permission on opening the app, but can't edit GPS.conf file.
Can I re-root again?
Thank you.

[SOLVED] Undeletable system app

I'm running Stock 2.3.3 (rooted) and and can't delete SEMCSearch&ShareWidget.apk
Tried with
SuperManager (root)
FlashTool 0.7.1 Clean and
Titanium Force Remove App (by recovery exploit)
but no success.
What can I do?
What do you mean with "No success"? Do you get an error?
Nope, no error message.
The FlashTool restart the mobile as usual, Titanium restart twice as it should be, but the app is still there. With SuperManager, as soon the app is deleted it appears again.
Why dont you simply download Total Commander for Android ang go into /system/app and delete it?

Any other idea?

Oh, sorry, forgot to tell you that you need to remount filesystem to R/W
Do it in TC this way:
1.) go to tool bar in the bootom of screen and push last button - add button, 2.) in dialog select type of function - internal command
3.) choose command - remount(requires root), has icon with RW, click OK
4.) push this new button, click remount
5.) try to delete the apk
Did exactly what you posted, RW, remounted, and Total Commander showed the same message
(Warning
Could not delete 1 file(s)/folder(s)!
SEMCSearch&ShareWidget.apk).
The app is still there.

Yes, remounted with success. AntTek says that the error is with NAND recovery.
Probably he meant this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5yb290dW5pbnN0YWxsZXIuZnJlZSJd
But expect no success, check permissions with TC first.
Are all permissions of file all for write?
Success!

Seems like you are trying to install a system application on normal way. This won't work! You have to copy the unsigned one to system/app and give rw-r-r permissions to it!

Okay. Step by step:
1.Download ES File Explorer from Google Playstore
2.Open it
3.Set it as a root explorer
4.Copy your DigitalClock.apk to system/app
5.Give it rw-r-r permissions
6.Reboot.
^ You can't really do that.
First get adb working and remount the system partition using:
Code:
adb shell mount -o remount,rw system
Then copy the apk to system/app and set the read/write permissions for it.
Then reboot.
