[Q] HDMI Adaptor for Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 - Galaxy Tab 2 Accessories

Hey guys, I know there has been various posts around the topic of HDMI adaptor for Tab 2,
however I still want to start this thread, to conclude/ summarize:
If there is indeed one HDMI Adaptor which is COMPATIBLE with a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 inch ?
Thanks

Only works with stock ROMs . Will not work with CM based or AOSP

Ive been reading many posts about the HDMI adaptor not working... I just downloaded Samsungs Samsung care app and according to the tv out section my G Tab 2 10.1 p5110 does not support it... maybe if somebody tried the same app on a device which has been successful in using the adaptor and see what it says on that device.
Also these tabs are bril... I saved over 100 £ on the device just costing me about 180 £. Bargin!

just got this adapter today. As previously thought, it does not work on CM10 but what's weird is that my wife has the original Tab 10.1 and it works on her's running CM10.
Anyway, I'm going to reflash my Tab with another ROM to test it out.

That's what I'm saying. Our Tab running CM10 plays video and audio perfect. There must be some modification in that rom to make it work. Oh well, at least one of our tablets works

HDMI out on a CM based ROM never happened, can't happen, it doesn't contain the drivers to make the hardware work.
If you are talking about playing video on the tablet screen, you are in the wrong thread, This is about HDMI

Where did you get this info? It's not detailed enough because there are 3 different models numbers for Galaxy Tab 2 10.1” and only GT-P5113 model supports HDMI output. Adapter is useless for GT-P5100 and GT-P5110 users.

I can confirm that the Samsung HDTV only works for the GT-P5113 and not the GT-P5100 or GT-P5110

Correct, the P5100 does not have video out so this will not work.
See this page for compatible tablets
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab-accessories/EPL-3PHPBEGSTA-compatible

I bought this adapter yesterday. However, it does not work on my 5100..
waste of money...

Well......... several post here point out that only the P5113 has video out and so does Samsung's accessory page. So.......................hoping just won't make it so...

So does it work or not???? The EPL-3PHPBEGSTA HDMI adaptor for the P5113 tab??

On the stock Samsung ROM, you have to attach a power cord to the adapter as well in order to get video - P5113

I'm pretty sure 10.1 is 7510 and 10.1v is 7500.
Its just a way to separate the forum sections for them.

are MHL adapters universal or model specific?

Alot of the MHL adapters are sold with "for Samsung galaxy S II" or "for Galaxy S3", but they look exactly the same, so are they model specific or can be used on Android phone?

They're universal! Enjoy!

I second that. If u r on note 2, u look to look for specific mhl for your phone. I recall coming across sales thread that mention for note 2 and s3 o ly Nevis of the number of connections inside which is different from the rest.

Mediapad X1 - MHL works!

Just in case you didn't know, MHL works with the Mediapad X1. I tried my MHL adapter that I got for the Samsung Galaxy Note, which I believe also works with the Note 2 and it works like a dream. The newer Samsung MHL adapter for the Note 3 and S4 / S5 doesn't work though.

What firmware version do You have? I checked one MHL adapter with my 4.4.2 X1 (Build 7D-503LV100R002C233B007) and nothing shows up on the tv, although HDMI cable is detected by the tablet.

I've got the 7D-501U, with the stock B019 ROM, Android 4.2.2. It's not rooted.

As of 2013, there are 4 types of MHL adapters
The Galaxy SII, Note 1, and Galaxy Nexus (and more than 50 smartphones by other vendors) support MHL 1 with a 5-pin connector,
The Galaxy SIII and Note 2 support a 11-pin version of the MHL 1,
The HTC One is the first phone to support MHL 2 with the standard 5-pin connector. It is backward compatible with MHL 1 5-pin adapters.
The Galaxy S4 is the first phone to support MHL 2 with the Samsung 11-pin connector. It is backward compatible with the GSIII/Note 2 adapters.
Version 2 of the MHL standard increases the maximum supported refresh rate from 30 to 60fps (at 1080p), and it also doubles the rate at which the MHL cable can charge the phone (when used in conjunction with a micro-USB cable).
Huawei Mediapad X1 works with the first one (MHL 1, 5-pin) and probably with the third one (MHL 2, 5-pin) because of backward compatibility

Cover with included keyboard like the Nexus 9?

As per title does anybody know if there's already something similar for the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1?
I mean something slim so no docking station or other bulky stuff.

I'd like to know this for the 8.4
This, along with a light amount of dev support and Samsung virtually abandoning the 8.4, is why I am heavily considering getting the Nexus 9 with my tax refund. Tab Pro 8.4 is nice, but I want to rid myself of Samsung after this.
