[Q] What Roms support A2DP? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I'm trying to find ICS or JB Roms that have A2DP support. Until today I've been running Unnamed 2.2.1 which works great with my car's stereo and I'm able to stream pretty much whatever I want.
But wanting to update my phone to the latest android versions I started flashing some Roms and I haven't found one that would stream music via Bluetooth to my car's stereo.
Roms I've tried so far with no luck are:
CM9 Stable
AOKP JB (10.5.2012)
Slim Bean
SuperNexus Build 2 & 3
Aberration 1.3
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

I've been able to use A2DP to my car stereo on both cm9 and cm10. Make sure you delete the pairing on your stereo before connecting again after you flash a new ROM. That may be your problem.

Thanks for the response. I deleted all the saved paired devices from my car and I tried again with both CM9 stable and CM10 latest nightly and the stereo receives the song's info but it when I press play it the phone gets stuck playing on 0:01 of the song and nothing happens after that.

A2DP seems to be broken in a lot of kernels from reading around the dev forum. Try a different one.
Edit: Kernel, not rom.

Thanks for the response. I installed CM9 stable with the next kernels:
Siyah-v4.1.6-mswap
N.E.A.K-2.0.6x-AOSP
fluxi-xx-I777-7-29-2012
And still no luck getting a2dp working. I'm starting to think that it might be my car's stereo, I have clarion head units on all 3 of my vehicles and they all use "Parrot bluetooth module" whatever that means.
What I still find weird is that the Rom I'm running right now works great, so I guess I'll be running GB while I figure out how to get this working with a ICS or JB Rom.

I too am having the same problem with the A2DP support. I just flashed my 1st ROM on my GS3 and I'm not getting any audio through my car stereo speakers. Are most of the JB ROMS lacking this support? By looking at most of the posts, A2DP support seems to be broken. Almost makes we want to revert back to stock ICS :crying:

Or you could look at it this way: He's providing another data point that says that a different JB rom on a different device has the same problem. That more than likely points to a problem in JB with A2DP that is not just on the i777...

No, I look at it like it's about a different phone that has nothing to do with ours. And needs to be posted in the proper section.

Does anyone have this working with an ICS Rom?
So far have not had any problems with any ROM and Bluetooth audio. ICS and GB both worked fine, had to just re-pair my phone when I flashed something new.
Using Ford Sync, which has its own issues.

Been having the same problems. Haven't found a single Rom with this fixed. only GB works.
Have you tired other devices?
My old Kenwood would drop out with my Android but my wife's iphone would be fine.
My new Sony has no problems.
Not saying that is the issue but that's what happened to me

[Q] New Bluetooth Issues with Official ICS update. Anyone else?

I was running CM9 nightlies, which worked great. Then I flashed back to an official ROM and updated to the official ICS. Now I'm getting frequent disconnects when listening to music via bluetooth audio (bluetooth speaker dock, in-car bluetooth, etc). I never once had this issue with CM9 nightlies.
Anyone else experience similar issues?

I am too. Never had a problem with Gingerbread but just upgraded to the official ICS and it's freaking annoying.
I'll probably be switching back to CM9 nightlies. Even in its pre-beta state, it seems far more reliable than the official ICS ROM.
I do really like Samsung's music player app, though. I only wish I could install that on CM9 somehow.
If you are having BT disconnects on ICS,
Try plugging in the charger while testing it. The phone won't enter deep sleep while charging.
Some of the BT devices are not playing well with ICS.
My BT under ICS is about the same as under GB (all stock) except that my headset pause/play button no longer works under ICS.

Well, CM9 is ICS and I had no issues with my BT devices. It's something unique to the official ROM.
Maybe there's a way to modify the BT/sleep behavior on the official ROM, but at that point why not just use a custom ROM that works better?

I started having trouble with BT disconnects a few months back when I began testing Shostock2 and AOKP custom roms. I think custom roms are great, I just prefer Shostock2.
The charging cable plugged in work around will be my best suggestion for non-rooted ICS with BT disconnect issues.
My thread on this is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1609686
I'm still using Tasker to avoid the problem.
Probably something changed in the BT software somewhere...
I'm getting high voltage warnings with the stock ics and once the battery passes 35 percent it drains quickly. If I plug it to charge the phone just gets hot I have to restart to get it to charge

I installed the F1 Galaxy Nexus ROM (ICS 4.0.4) and never had any problems with Bluetooth disconnects. So hopefully it's fixed now. I'm dl'ing the latest ShoStock 4.0.4 and will see if it's fixed as well.

[Q] Bluetooth problem

Hello I am hoping someone can help me find a solution to my constant bluetooth issue. My plantronics voyager pro+ & hd headsets were not connecting and would not re-pair with the phone. They pair and connect to every other device I've tried. I had the phone rooted with the htc version viper rom not supposed to be used outside of htc. I know there was an htc maintenance update version 2.13.651.1 but the teamwin/ venom viper rom I now have which I love has their own ota updates and the latest version of their rom 2.0.2 based on 2.13.651.1 so I must have the update which had the minor bluetooth fix. At this point I don't know what to do. I ama co tractor and rely heavily on using the bluetooth. Anyone that can shed some light on this would be greatly appreciated?
Did you check the viper rom thread yet? My jawbone bluetooth works fine on the stock rom and on stock w/ goodies. I know my plantronics m50 didn't work well on this phone, maybe troubleshoot that too.

Hi thanks I contacted plantronics and we tested both bluetooth headsets on 3 other devices- they paired up fine. This ruled out the headsets especially when the worked fine for several months since I got the phone. No havent checked the thread- am going to look it up now... did you see something there?

No but it might be rom related, I don't know since I don't use that rom.

[Q] FM radio on roms

any hope of getting FM radio support on roms (I'm mainly using cyanogenmod, usually sportsstar's). I've tried the port of the apk for the fm radio (wouldn't run) and some spirit radio apk (loud static all channels). Thanks.
I'm using spirit and it works fine. You do need to have a headset plugged in though for an antenna

Are you using the feb 3rd beta version of spirit?
The stock FM radio is probably going to need to be rebuilt to make it work. Or there is just some strange file that is missing or not configured right.

Hi Dave! Thanks for the response
I thought there was an FM radio app in the CM Builds??
There are people using Spirit on CM10 (other devices) and I have got Spirit working on Sense 4 (even though the built in one doesn't work)
I have tried my darndest to get Spirit radio to work. All I get is white noise.
What am I missing or not configured? I did search the site, but wasn't able to
find the answer.
Thanks.

I just flashed SpeedRom 9.0 Beta 1 and the FM Radio app works because SpeedROM is still a sense based ROM but looks like JellyBean.

I have the same issue with Sportsstar's CM10.1. Sprit FM just gives me static (though I can occasionally hear the slightest bit of an actual station). I think I read in his thread that radio firmware is missing from CM10.1. Is that something one can flash after the fact?

There is a difference Between the Radio firmware for the hardware (flashed thru hboot) and possibly radio drivers in the ROM.
You can flash the ICS Radio update, link in my Viper thread or ARHD thread, that will update you to the most recent radio "Firmware"
You do need to have an antenna (wired headset) and you have to manually tune the radio station.
I'll test it on CM10.1 later this weekend and I'll let you know what I can figure out!

I can't find the reference I was talking about, but here's a reference to missing drivers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010901
And if this is what you're talking about for a radio update - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42317972&highlight=radio+update#post42317972 - that matches my current baseband version.
FM radio works on ICS ROMs, like ARHD and SpeedRom, I know. I also know I need a headset attached - only way it ever worked. I've seen other threads about Spirit FM just producing static, so I don't know if it's that app and this device. Anyway, thanks for whatever you can figure out. My thought was that flashing anything ICS on JB wouldn't work, but I don't know.

Just want to ask again on this thread, has anyone ever gotten Spirit FM or another FM radio apk to work on a JB ROM (non-sense-based)? Chevy mentioned the Spirit FM 3rd beta, but not sure whether he was talking about having it work on a JB ROM or on Viper. ICS ROMs mostly have the stock radio app working, so not an issue there.
Thanks.
There is code in the CM base sources allowing for radio apps like spirit FM, now whether the devs working on it here have enabled it or gone through the task of debugging to ensure it works is a different story. Tytung has it working well in his CM ROMs for the HD2. I purchased it (spirit) to use on his ROMs so I do know it can work with CM if the developer chooses to. Frankly, for me this capability isn't as important as resolving the other outstanding issues which are keeping JellyBean from being fully functional and truly stable on our devices.

Yeah, I'm really just trying to find out if anyone has gotten something working on the Amaze, not any other device. For me, the showstoppers on CM10.1 were uncontrolled in-call volume (evidently working in Evervolv), audio drop-outs when listening to music, and lack of FM radio. Otherwise, it seemed really solid. I'm kinda tired of laggy ICS ROMS, but everything works.
Thanks

I know what you're talking about. I think many here, myself included, wish that development was further along. Frankly, I find it sad and ironic that my old HD2, which was a Windows phone, has had fully functional usable stable Jellybean ROMs for a well over a year and it never had any sources released to develop from.
The sad truth is that the Amaze is a great device that wasn't marketed well, so few units were sold. Too few at least for it to have developed a devoted loyal following. If you follow the threads you see that there was never a large volume of development for it and that most of the early adopters have long since moved on to other devices. I'm just glad that we're now experiencing a second wave with new folks stepping up and trying.
I'm optimistic that the issues currently afflicting these builds can be resolved and that our Amazes will get a new lease on life. We just need to have a bit more patience, they're getting closer to nailing it. Once one gets it right the others will learn and use in their development. Then we'll have all kinds of jellybean and KitKat flavors to choose from.

I wouldn't be so down on HTC. They may not have been the most supportive manufacturer when it comes to outside development, but they've also produced some of the most groundbreaking innovative products. They're in financial trouble now, as their market share has eroded, and haven't had a breakout device in some time. They realize this and have begun making incremental improvements within the development community in an attempt to improve it's perception. The thing is who are you going to jump ship to? Samsung is already undermining android by developing Its own market place for apps that can only run on their devices and has announced It's developing its own proprietary OS. Since they're the biggest player in this device market, they could easily splinter Android and force other manufacturers to do the same to compete.
The point is, if there's one thing I've learned from my 50 years on this planet is to never say never about anything.

JB 4.2.2 Bluetooth Audio Issues

Hello Folks. Is anyone here familiar with a kernel that has fully functional Bluetooth audio? I have a Jawbone Era headset, & no matter what 4.2.2 ROM/ Kernel combo I flash, I experience the same issue. I can hear the folks on the other end just fine, but they all have trouble hearing me. Flashing back to 4.1 ROMS, resolves this issue for me, but I enjoy & miss the newer features of JB 4.2 ROMS when I do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

same for me
I'm having the same issue but the Bluetooth also causes my phone to slow way down and almost unusable. I did a search and found some others saying they have the same issue but have only seen one "maybe" fix. I tired the fix that included wiping my phone putting it back to stock, doing a factory rest and then reinstalling the rom again. I have tried AOKP, Slimbean, CM10.1, JellyBam, PACman, and SHOstock 3. the only one that I can get to work is the SHOstock 3 but I really like the CM based roms better. anybody have any other ideas on how to fix this right now I am using a 4.1 AOKP because it works just fine. I have also tried different kernels but no matter what my phone with 4.2.2 and Bluetooth just don't get along

I've read that the 4.3 update that may be out soon should have a fix for the low power Bluetooth problems. I say "may" and "should," but there could be a fix on the horizon. I am hoping they can fix it to send metadata so I can see song info on my car stereo.
