Unique cmw problem of storage and mounting - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I have read a lot of forums on this topic. I wanted to root and get cm10 and join this android community, but unfortunately I went wrong somewhere. I used CMW and got CM10 working, but for some reason, it does not recognize my sd card. I tried clearing it out, formatting through recovery, and all that did was cause me to lose all my data. I did the work around with having s-on, but can't see how that can be an issue. I can't access my ext or internal storage at all, not even through my pc, I have no aps and no ability to download apps due to google market not being install. If this has already been answered, please send me the link, because I searched most forums and none of the solutions posted has worked for me.
The only thing I can do now in terms of internal or external memory would have to be in fastboot, because even with cm10 running I can't access my internal or external memory though pc.

Does cwm recognize memory? Can you mount storage to pc using cwm? You can probably format the internal that way. You really should be using twrp, cwm causes more problems then its worth

I can not access anything, the only thing to try now is installing twrp on top of cmw the fastboost usb way

It couldn't hurt to try

Yes, thats what I'm currently using.

It's not all that unique btw, cwm has been corrupting memory cards and partitions practically since being ported.

i would not use that recovery if i was u.. it messes up your misc partition.. i would flash twrp 2.2.2 asap.. no one uses cwm recovery on the evo LTE.. it dont work correct on this phone boss

I managed to get twrp, but still the same issues, even twrp refuses to mount internal or external storage. I even partitioned SD, reflashed and still nothing.

It may be time to relock and run ruu

Maybe flashing a new custom ROM with twrp?

I thought you had lol. Try that and failing that I would fall back to ruu

which recovery do you guys like?
i use clockworks, always works for me.
We only have CWM since the other one's outdated, but even then I've always used CWM before I got my Amaze 4G
yeah, just cause i know on the first recovery i had, i had the option to use my internal storage to look for roms, and cwm only lets me do external which is fine but i was just wondering.

If you remove the sdcard you should be able to store your backups to your internal
Should you need to flash a PH85IMG.zip for whatever reason you may lose all of your backups if they are stored to internel since the RUU files have a bad habit of formating the FAT partition too. Just a heads up. Better to keep it to external.
oh really? thanks, i had no clue, and yeah, i was just wondering if i had to keep it all to my external memory with this recovery.

[Q] Small Problem Concerning Corrpted Internal Storage.

Hello everyone,
I had previously rooted my original evo a while back and recently got the new evo lte, and thought "Oh I can root this all by myself." Big mistake
Okay, so, I made sure to unlock it using the HTC dev. Then downloaded Rom Manager and tried to put the new cm10 rom but for some reason it was coming up with sd errors. So, I looked up what could possibly be the cause behind that, which I thought was the previous Rom Manager data from the old evo. So I deleted it and well had the same problem. I also made sure to do the Hboot fastboot thing too.
Then I download the TWRP recovery and things took a turn for the worst. Now my external/internal storage is unreadable to twrp, ironically so, I can still use the USB for the sd.
I tried other roms, but it won't load them
Now, my os is gone and I just don't know what to do. At very least I can still use fastboot, but I really just unsure how I can well make it work.
so stat wise it says
tampered/unlocked
S-ON RL
Hboot 1.15
Radio 1.05.11.0606
OpenDSP-v25. 1.032.0405
I am also running a mac.
So, if anyone can set me in the right direction, that would be super.
For one reason or another some users have problems flashing cmx and corrupting internal. Boot to twrp and mount as USB then format it in OSX.

Thank you for replying. So I want to mount the internal storage and format it in Fat32?
Also, when I go to the mounting menu, it will not let me press "Mount Internal".
However, I can mount internal storage using USB storage method, I don't get it...
Selecting mount as usb storage is all you need to do, at the very least you should be able to do that, then format, fat 32 is the default so there is no need to specify fat 32
Format the top one, correct?
Sorry for the late reply, that should be it
No, Thank you.
So, I did reformat. It still cannot find the internal storage/SD storage.
So, can I push RUU through fastboot to return it to a functional state. All this for Jellybean, haha
I had almost the same thing happen to me over the weekend for the first time. I was about to reformat it in twrp and that worked great for me. So give that a try before you run a ruu

I already reformat the internal and it made no different. I also cannot reformat within twrp, it just says cannot find and fails.
I think I've misunderstood, if you reformatted and can not access memory from aosp Rom try flashing the sd rewrite fix
swap internal/external links

No no, I apologize. This is all terribly confusing.
So I will just fastboot it through terminal
/fastboot-mac flash zip blablah.zip
right?
No this is flashed through recovery

I don't know exactly know how I am going to do that, since the recovery does not recognized the internal/external storage. When I mounted via USB and put the zip on there, I cannot find it within the recovery.
Odd, after reformatting you should be able to use the internal again

Yes. Sadly I don't think reformatting did anything. At this point, I am unsure what to do. Can I even still flash a RUU?

I'm coming into this late but I recently experienced corrupted internal storage while running cmx as well. While I could not choose to mount the external storage, I somehow was able to select that bubble when in the restore menu. I restored an old meanrom and it rebuilt the internal storage despite losing the data. Not sure if this info will help you at all, but figured I would share. Good luck.

No, thank you for input. Sadly, since this a very new phone, I have nothing to restore it to. As, I was unable to make a back up for this all happened. But I am sure if I did have one it would get me out of this rut.

So when you flash a new rom from twrp, what happens? Are you flashing the kernel beforehand too since you are s-on?

When I was able to flash a new rom [as I am now unable to really access my sd card] it would install it, however, it would boot past the the splash screen and would go black. I didn't think I had to flash the kernel before hand, perhaps that was my problem.

CWM Recovery not recognizing extSD (Verizon)

I was originally going to post this under the developer section, but seeing how it won't let me post there until I've reached over 10 posts, (started new acct instead of trying to find old login info) I figured I'd try here:
I successfully rooted my device earlier and all is going well, but I'm running into a snag for backing up in custom recovery/flashing new ROMs. The recovery isn't recognizing my extSD card, but the phone when booted will. I've moved the ROMs to the extSD to save space and want my backup to go there as well.
Anyone found a fix for this at all?
What kind of sd card?
Check /mnt/extSdCard/
I've got OUDHS CWM... so depending on the recovery tool you have, it may be different for you.

It's a SanDisk ultra 64GB.From what I've read elsewhere it sounds like I may need to reformat it to FAT? When I got the card I just formatted it in the device itself

FAT32 is what you need. I have a 64gb Samsung card and the same thing happened to me. Formating in the phone won't do it. I ended up finding a 3rd party app (EaseUs Partition Master - free edition) and formatted it on the pc (using either built-in or accessory card reader). Afterwards you'll have all the access you're lacking!!
Just confirming what the others are saying - if you installed the card on stock and then rooted to CM you will find that the card doesn't work but DOES still have data on it, if you want to get it off easiest way is PC/Mac otherwise you can format it if you don't mind losing the data.

My phone won't mount the internal memory!

My phone came broken, it wouldn't make phone calls. I tried a bunch of different roms and none of them worked. Now I can't even boot into a rom and it just hangs at the splash screen of whatever rom I flash. In Twrp is says that it cant mount anything in the internal memory card pretty much.

If TWRP can't find it or fix it, then you will probably have to be S-OFF and RUU back to stock.

Is there really no other way? At this point I feel like just not having a phone. I have been more than a day now with a bricked phone. It just doesn't seem worth it anymore. I can't get s-off because I need to be on a stock rom to do so. I can't install a stock rom because everyone I download doesn't work.

at the bottom of the selections under the "Mount" tab in TWRP do you get area that says Micro sd or EMMC and storage space size
still having problem??
"It won't let me select the internal sd but it lets me select everything else."
If you are unlocked or S-0ff and still having this issue, I would suggest installing Amon-Ra recovery
via PH98IMG.zip.
Start recovery, choose USB-MS toggle, connect to Windows machine,
choose toggle internal SD, then format it. could do the external storage to format as well.
Now both should be visible and ready to take your ROM flash or nandroid restore.

Can't mount internal storage or sd card

Well hello first of all this is my first time posting and sorry if it's the wrong place
So well you see I have Lenovo A516 and I had a custom lollipop ROM installed in it and my sdcard and internal storage was already linked in this ROM so I was enjoying myself until it got bricked by itself so I went into twrp recovery and wiped everything too flash ROM but it wouldn't flash because my sdcard isn't getting detected and I get following errors
E: can't mount sdcard
E: can't mount internal storage
E:can't mount sdcard while loading GUI (something like that)
And yes I have read other threads about it but my problem isn't the same ....I removed my sd card yet I still get these errors and I can't download anything out of market like songs from browser or anything ..I will check my card if it's damaged but still I shouldn't get errors after removing it which I do get so plz help me ...I thought it might be a rom so I flashed allegro ROM using PC and a flash tool but still the problem exists

This is an issue that happens on multiple devices. Happened to me on some of my older phones. I always found that it was much more effective to store the rom .zip file on your internal storage rather than your SD card.

Thanks for the advice but this isn't the solution for my problem (lol) actually as mentioned above when I flashed this rom it already had my memory card and internal storage joined and in a file explorer it never showed my sdcard as a separate storage but now my phone won't detect my sd card and neither let's me download anything to my internal memory ...I am seriously in a pinch

Update: my sdcard was the which was corrupted ....well actually not corrupted more like breasted by the over clocked processor's heat so anyway even if the sd card isn't avaiable why cant my internal storage be accessed ? Any help on that
