Flash stock firmware via odin. Will remove siyah and unroot your phone. Ensure you download 4.0.3 not 4.0.4 since LQ6 has the emmc brickbug.

Could you possibly have a link for 4.03 ?

http://sammobile.com/firmware

I got a 4.0.3 stock firmware XXLPQ. but now the 4.0.3 wont upgrade to 4.0.4

Any particular reason you want to upgrade to 4.0.4?

Maybe its one of those firmwares that never got an upgrade to 4.0.4? Some will make the jump directly to 4.1. All assumption, I'm not too familiar with stock. If its official 4.1 you're worried about, you can always get it off samfirmware when an update for the i9100 is released.
Also, if all you were looking for is the stock 4.0.4 UI experience, you could always have had a 4.0.4 sammy rom. Wasn't necessary to unroot et al.

No i unrooted because phone was hanging too much ,and downgraded from 4.0.4 to 4.0.3 so if i want an upgrade back to 4.0.4 ill have to download a stock firmware of 4.0.4 from sammyfirmware and then connect it to odin again and change its firmware again ?

Odd..siyah has never given me any trouble. Phone hangs are anyways usually coz of the rom rather than kernel. But thats OT.
You could do that, yeah. Just be careful not to ever mess around with your phone if you decide to use a firmware that has the emmc bug. For a list of those, refer a sticky in the general section. To be safe..just stay away from stock 4.0.4. Its what I'd do. Rather live with the 4.0.3 UI elements till 4.1 releases than risk rendering a phone completely useless.

Only leaked Sammy 4.0.4 kernels have eMMC_CAP_ERASE enabled.
4.0.3 not. Also custom kernels are safe (except CF-Root for 4.0.4).

You are right.
So use stock 4.0.4 with no wipe or completely omit 4.0.4 until new update without bug.

Hi, I just wanna be sure. I currently have:
4.0.3
Baseband: I9100UHLPG

I'm not sure whether my Kernel is 4.0.3 or 4.0.4? Can you please let me know?
Also, what if I'll do a factory reset on the phone itself (doing it the normal way) Settings>Backup and Reset? will it have the same effect as doing a wipe via CWM? Thank you.

MMC-SUPERBRICK-BUG Kernel?

Is there any way of finding out wether or not I have a kernel that is affected by the MMC-Superbrick-bug? I strongly believe I am not affected by this bug, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
I have a Cyanogenmod Kernel which I flashed using the "noob-proof" guide for Cyanogenmod 9.

-Only original/stock kernels of ICS 4.0.4 firmwares are affected by the super brick bug.
Kernels based on the stock 4.0.4one may also contain the bug e.g insecure kernels for rooting or CF-ROOT.
-99.9% is the custom kernels however do not have this super brick bug. I can confirm these kernels don't have it:
-Siyah kernel
-Dorimanx kernel
-dream kernel
-Speedmod kernel
-Neak kernel
-Codeworkx kernel, shipped with CYANOGENMODs and AOKP Roms

Thanks a ton! You guys are the best :good:
Guys its only a suggestion.....
It will be good if some developer can make a windows based application or script that can check any kernel with "MMC_CAP_ERASE=1 or ENABLED"
So one will have to just select a kernel file (.zip or .tar or zimage) and the application will return with a message saying "This Kernel is SAFE to Flash !!!" or "Danger !!! This kernel has Brick bug. Install with extreme caution"
That will help people to check any kernel before flashing and without any fear of brick..
Add fluxi kernel to the safe kernels list.

Hi guys, I'm new here and I'm thinking about changing the ROM on my SGS2.
Searching around the internet I noticed the warning about this bug quite a few times. I didn't find a way to check if I got it though.
Here are the info from my phone:
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband version: I9100XXLPQ
Kernel version: 3.0.15-I9100XXLPQ-CL223505 [email protected] #3
Build number: IML74K.XXLPQ
I've updated from GB to ICS when it first came out through Odin. I didn't wait for the ROM from my provider, though, but just downloaded a rom from some Poland provider.
So, do I have this bug? If you can't help me, can you please tell me how I can find out?
Thanks
Theres a sticky in the general section listing the firmwares affected by the bug. But it only affects 4.0.4. You're on 4.0.3
So as long as you dont upgrade to 4.0.4 stock you're safe.

As of now, nobody seems to have reported the emmc bug on the leaked JB. So its probably safe. If you want to be 100% safe, you may want to use a custom kernel with the JB stock firmware.

I am going to install custom JB and test a couple of custom kernels. But I'm not sure if all custom JB kernels are 100% safe ? I know Dorimanx, Siyah and Philz are safe.
Btw will that procedure be safe for me (I am on a stock GB 2.3.3 now) :
1. Root phone
2. Flash custom JB rom with CWM or ODIN.....or flash safe custom kernel first ? If so what custom kernel will fit stock GB 2.3.3

First You have to chceck if You have brick bug chip with "emmc brickbug check" from Play Store or with app from this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27014974&postcount=1
And You need to know which kernels are safe but I don't have exact info. The kernels that I mentioned earlier are safe.

You're on GB so none of those kernels will work for you.
You'd need to first flash stock 4.0.3 and then you can flash one of those kernels.
Or directly flash the leaked 4.1 stock JB. Like I said, AFAIK nobody has found it to be affected by the emmc bug so you should be safe flashing it. Else if you don't feel it safe, use the procedure I mentioned to install siyah, dori, etc.

This may be a bit of a n00b question, but I want to make sure I don't risk bricking my phone...
I have Android stock 4.0.4 on a non-rooted phone with the superbrick bug (damn!).
(Network unlocked Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 Android 4.0.4 stock image (downloaded via mobile internet),
Baseband I9100XXLQ6,
Kernel version 3.0.15-1056084 [email protected] #3 SMP PREEMPT Wed Aug 22 22:58:24 KST 2012,
Build number IMM76D.XWLPW.)
If I only want superuser access on the phone, what is the safest way of going about it? And is there a way of backing up absolutely everything on the phone including the hidden folders like /EFS etc in case I want to go back to the non-rooted version, or in case something goes wrong and I can still flash the phone?
I found a tutorial on teamandroid that looks the easiest to follow, it states to install Odin, then Download SiyahKernel Root I9100XWLPW, then flash/install, does this sound safe, or is there a risk of bricking my phone as I have 4.0.4 with the superbrick bug. (It's a simplified version of the tutorial as I cannot post links yet!)
PS I won't be updating the firmware after this.
Thanks in advance guys.
PS If I do need to flash the 4.0.3 or earlier, where can I find the official ROM's?

[Q] Question About Triangle away to rest counter

Hi,
I have some questions about Triangle Away.
My Specifics are:
Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100
Android Version: 4.0.4
Band Base Version: I9100XXLQ6
Kernel Version: [email protected]#3 SMP PREEMPT Wed Aug 29 13:40:41 KST 2012
Build Version: IMM76D.XWLPX
eMMC check: Brick Bug insane chip
Triangle Away Version: 2.10
I flashed my phone with this nordic ROM: I9100XWLPX_I9100XXLQ6_I9100NEELP5_HOME.tar
Then I followed this guide to root my phone: http://technoxide.blogspot.com/2012/10/root-galaxy-s2-ics-4.0.4-xwlpx.html
With this guide i installed this firmware: PhilZ-cwm6-XWLPX-NEE-2.0.tar.md5 and then i used Samsung Quick Root.
Yesterday i read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31310851
and I flashed my kernel with this new one: PhilZ-cwm6-XWLPX-NEE-2.7.tar.md5
My root work fine.
Now I read many threads but I don't understand if I can run Triangle Away 2.10 without problems or brick risks.
Anyone could help me?

[Q] About to flash Kernel

Hello, coming from a Nokia user, this is my first time using android phone.
My specifications:
Mobile version: GT-I9100
Android Version: 4.0.4
BaseBand: I9100XXLQ6
Kernel version: 3.0.15-1060868 (The damned Kernel, thought it's an unknown chip on Chainfire's app and a sane chip on the other app)
PDA: LPJ
PHONE: LQ6
I am concerning the bugged stock kernels of 4.0.4, so I decided to flash Siyah kernel version 5.0.1 using Odin.
Please recommend for me the version of Odin and supervise the whole process, and how risky it may be.

We're all paranoid when we're screwing around with our phones the first time around. But if you follow the tutorials properly, you have nothing to be worried about.
1. It is. But if you're installing a custom kernel its usually to install a custom ROM. So why exactly are you installing siyah if you plan on sticking to stock 4.0.4?
2. No.
3. I don't think so. But if you install the leaked 'official' JB firmware, it'll replace whichever kernel you have anyways. So unless you're planning on installing siyah AFTER installing the leaked JB, this shouldn't be an issue.

I just want to get rid of the stock kernel, and root the phone(back my stuff with titanium before I get the JB or a custom ROM).
Oh man. I really need a point in the right direction. I've been reading all day about this, but I'm worried I'll totally stuff things up if I proceed with out confirmation with what I'm doing.
I received my GS2 from Kogan website yesterday, followed the "How to Root Galaxy S2 i9100! [ICS]" (sorry can't post direct link yet) now everything is great, however the bluetooth with not turn on. It doesn't go bright green when switched on, it stays a dull green and then turns off again. AAAARGH.

I am on JB and am not very fond of it so i want to go back to my previous stock ROM.
Info about the ROM i want to flash to:
Build: I9100XWLPY (4.0.4)
Baseband: XXLQ6
CSC: NEELP6
Can i flash this on any safe way?
I have plan B which is this one:
Build: I9100XWLPG (4.0.3)
Baseband: XXLPX
CSC: NEELP4
Can i flash this 4.0.3 if 4.0.4 cannot be flashed? (I had that 4.0.4 as stock ROM b4 i went to JB)
But i prioritize the 4.0.4 version, if its safe to flash 4.0.4 please tell me and i'll do it.

So what you're saying (in a very confusing way ) that i shouldn't flash 4.0.4?!
Yeah i know about brickbug, but keep getting different signals from members. No one says straight if i can flash 4.0.4 or not but some members say that i can flash 4.0.4 and they dont even mention the brick bug. Some are recognized contributors so that's why i am in a conflict of who to trust. I say no flash, but experienced seem to say flash...
Please can you say a staright answer?
And i dont think illl miss JB actually

4.0.4's kernels are affected by brickbug.
Some devices got a Sane Chip (not affected), you can check yours by downloading got brickbug? app from play store.
Yes, Insane Chip
You can use that ROM but should be aware of its risks.
For example no wipe data on recovery mode or cmw, don't make back up nor restore them.
No, Sane Chip
You are off the hook and can do whatever you'd like with your device (regarding flashing, wipping, backing up, rooting, etc that is).
So there you have it, ALL NON 4.0.4 kernels are safe.
Well i cant check right now i fi have brickbug since i am on JB atm
But i'll flash 4.03 then
Thanx for help mate
If you run 4.0.4 stock rom with stock kernel and have an affected chip then you are at risk if you "do the wrong thing".
To remove risk, you flash a custom kernel that has emmc cap disable removed, or as stated earlier, stay away from 4.0.4.But you can use it if you wanted to.
And dont be fooled by users with high post counts etc.Ive seen people spamming 20 posts per day, most are useless tripe.
