[Q] Hiding apps without killing them ??!! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to hide apps from the drawer but WITHOUT killing those apps
-Rooted
-also tried "Go Launcher" but its very easy to unhide it from menu no protection at all
-Tried "Hide it Pro" = Killing the apps
-Tried "ccswe app manager" = same killing the apps
**I need Password Protected Manager To "HIDE" the apps icons only while "Keep them Running in background"
Any Ideas, Even Paid Apps ??

Why don't you try apex launcher. It can hide app without killing it.

is there any protection for unhiding the apps or just same like Go Launcher and Launcher Pro you can unhide the apps very easy

Helooooo !!!!!!

I don't know what you mean by protection, but feel free to download Go Launcher, Apex Launcher, Nova Launcher. They all allow moving apps from the main app drawer into folders. Nova Launcher also allows creation of tabs for categories of apps.
All it takes is moving the icon from main app drawer into a folder/tab, at which point it disappears from the app drawer. Moving it back is same procedure, but in reverse. Simply unchecking the app.

Most launchers probably don't have this feature (locking the ablity to unhide) because it is rather pointless, unless you are trying to hide an inappropriate app, if you know what I mean.
May I ask why you want this?
Otherwise, on the apps you mentioned, you do have to dig through menus to unhide it, so there really shouldn't be a problem with security...

What i mean is same like "HIDE IT PRO" to unhide the apps u need to use your pin or whatever lock u used ,
its exactly what i need BUT in "hide it pro" when you chose to hide certain apps those apps will be killed and as long as they kept hidden u cant run them at all
So what i need is to hide apps BUT "keep Them running on background"

Would like to know that too, got issues with Nexus

[Q] A way to hide apps

Can someone please tell me a way of how to hide apps on a non-rooted Evo 3d and other phones? I have only seen apps that require root for this feature to be effective.
Thanks
You mean just from the app drawer? Or punch in a secret code in the dialer or something?

"Go launcher ex" allows you to hide apps from your app drawer, if that is what you are asking.
ADW does that too, open up the app drawer, hit menu and set up group.
App Locker II - Fake Crash is what I use. Instead of hiding the app it just mimics a stubborn app force closing all the time. Don't really have any apps that need securing more than that. That's the free version, the same developer makes more secure paid versions.
Audio manager. looks like an audio app but you can actually have the fake crash report show or also hid apps/pics/vids completely with root. That along with private sms box should secure your phone quite well from wandering eyes. Not that I know from experience or anything...

I like that a lot better than the one I've been using. For a free app, it has a ton of features. Thanks!
A way to hide apps
I am looking for something to use on a non-rooted phone. Something that can hide the app from the main menu listing.
Thanks
Another vote for GO Launcher Ex. I've tried the major launcher apps, and GO seems to work the best for me on my EVO 3D.

You don't need root to run Go Launcher, it does replace sense though. Just search the market for "Go Launcher" then open app drawer, press menu, then hide app. Long time user of Launcher Plus and am happy I made the switch.
Is there any way I can do this using Sense, without changing to another launcher?
Maybe you can try downloading Z4root and temporarily root your phone to use the other apps. Not sure if on reboot the apps will stay hidden or not though, but it might be worth a try because I think every other solution out there is going to require root.
There's an app by the same developer as App Lock II called Invisible Protector that looks like it may be what you're looking for. Doesn't say it needs root in the description, and has a free 3 day trial.

[Q] Any app launcher inside other Launcher?

Hello.
My problem is that I used ADW Launcher and now Im starting with Go Launcher
In ADW I could create app groups. That is useful for example for set one group with all apps and other group with the most frequent apps, so I avoided thereby apps that I dont use so much and I hide some apps from other people hehe
But now Go launcher has not got that feature. I only can hide apps but then I cant run them quickly, I have to unhide, run, hide again, everytime
Does exist any app that shows you all app you have installed and you can go and run whichever you want?
Thaaaaanks
Try Folder Organizer (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.abcOrganizer.lite), it's an excellent label-based app manager.
Yeaaah, just tried Apps organicer
(https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.code.appsorganizer&feature=more_from_developer), from the same dev, and works perfectly, that what I was looking for. Its even simplier than Folder organicer. Just select an app and it run it
So, problem fixed
Thanks so much mate

Sense App Drawer

Is there a way to hide certain apps from the app drawer without rooting? I know there are different launchers that are able to do this but I like the stock Sense launcher.
Also, Is there a way to remove the recent apps from the notification bar?
Thanks in advance.

I could be totally wrong here but it seems like what you're asking for is going to require root.

Even if I rooted, I think the only way would be for me to use Root Explorer and renaming the .apk file to .bak... Unless anyone else knows of other methods?
Why do you want to hide them? Are you trying to hide bloatware w/o rooting?
I think rooting is going to be the way to go. Sure you can find some launchers that hide them, but Sense doesn't play nicely with them.
I use launcher pro (rooted, BeastMOD 1.3.1), so I have two docks with 5 icons each with a standard and a swipe gesture. i also have widgets for more important things, so the ONLY use I have for my app drawer is to access apps that I use relatively rarely.
For example, I have the Digital Clock widget on my home screen. I have zero use to look at an icon for it taking up space in my app drawer.
I have a similar (but different) question. Is is possible to organize the downloaded apps in the drawer in alphabetical order? It currently puts the most recently dl'd apps at the top, making finding apps a pain in the ass. My phone is stock and unrooted.

Without rooting I guess you must use some launcher with function to hide or grouping.
I used ADW EX and it caused no problem with stock Sense. With ADW you can set up groups and put apps that you don't like into a group and name it "junk" or something like that and never touching that group when open app drawer ...
Edit: Sorry for my replied making no sense since you stated that you wanted Sense ... Just disregard this post
Oh well...sense is too nice to give up for another launcher..

[Q] App Drawer Replacement?

Okay before you all yell at me and tell me to get a new launcher, that is now what I am asking. I dislike the stock app drawer. I was wondering if there was a way to do a complete replacement. So lets say I download Jetpack Launcher, which is basically a App Drawer replacement. I want that APK to be my "stock" app drawer. So I was wondering if there was a way to move the APK from Jetpack to the location of my stock app drawer, essentially completely replacing my app drawer. So when I hit the stock button to go to my app drawer it would open Jetpack as the default.
Anyway to do this?
I don't think this can be done with stock launcher...even the Jetpack article you linked to says you have to put a shortcut on the home page to access it (the stock app drawer is part of the launcher application).
That being said, if you use another launcher like Launcher Pro, you can just reassign the dock shortcut to anything...like Jetpack...
You can always try out Zeam launcher. I was intorduced to it from Jokers skinny4g locked.
I was pleasantly suprised how lite it was due to little to o learning curve. It is also fairly well featured in he settings you can do.
The action bindings, are very cool adding swype commands that can replace shortcuts on your workspace. Once I got used to the bindings I was able to remove allot of the clutter on my home paage.
I have tried quite a few pay launchers, and this one is simple to use and hase quite a bit of customization you can do.
That's not what I am asking. I am asking how to completely replace the app drawer. I do not want a launcher.

Ok...can't be done.
Unless...you decompile the stock launcher; decompile Jetpack; figure out how to replace the code that does the app drawer in stock with the code from jetpack; then recompile the apk and then place in /system/app/ and fix permissions. Probably more work than its worth...
Forgot to mention Zeam lets you customize your app drawer. Side scrolling, up down, how many displayed icons width, height, weather the app draw bacground is translucent based upon percentage..
Either way good luck on your search.

No "show hidden apps" menu setting?

Pretty self explanatory. I can hide apps, but there is no menu setting to "show hidden apps". Anyone have any answers? Non rooted 7.1.1
I don't know how you are "hiding" apps. I know how to "disable" apps.Disabling apps is stopping the app/s from working on your device (including stopping background processing) as well as hiding the apps.
Are you using a third party app?
In same menu where you Hide apps, you can un-check the apps to unhide.

Hiding apps is an option to not show the icons in your app drawer. Like stuff you don't need populating it, live wallpaper, keyboard skins etc.

Once I went back to Samsung Launcher (I use Nova launcher by default) I saw it. This is not a way to hide from other users. This is a way to hide from yourself. So there is no "group". Like another said here you will have to click on "unhide" to see hidden apps.
Use third party apps for what you want to do.
