You have to be S-OFF to customize the bootloader. Once you're S-OFF you can follow the simple guide in the link below to have it say whatever you want:

Let me know if that helps!

An ruu should also get rid of it

[Q] Remove Tampered in Bootloader without Wiping Phone

Okay, my brother is an idiot. He rooted for the first time and stupidly installed the OTA update without getting s-off or waiting for a flashable rooted rom. Shame on him. FYI, he used the zedomax method.
This brings me to my question. I searched and came up with nothing other than what I expected. Can you remove the tampered status in the bootloader without running the RUU? In other words, is the only way to remove the tampered status to wipe your phone? I just wanted to ask here to confirm what I thought before he wipes his phone. Thanks for any help you can give. Also, the reason he needs to remove the tampered status is because google wallet is telling him that his carrier doesn't offer support for this device when he opens it. If you have a fix for that, throw that out as well. Thanks in advance.
pretty sure the only way is to run an ruu boss.. or lazy panda but if your bro took the OTA then thats a no go..

I figured. That is what I was thinking but I was trying to see if there was another way around it. Like maybe unlock bootloader through HTC, relock, and then the tampered would go away but I was thinking the only way would be the RUU. Thanks for confirming. I still can't believe he didn't do s-off when he had the chance.
He can HTC Dev unlock which will allow him to gain root access, then flash the modified Google wallet.

I don't know if this will work or not without wiping his phone. Isn't the only root method out there now require you to run a RUU anyway, thus wiping his phone? I could be incorrect though because I haven't been keeping up with the progress 100% since I am s-off.
HTC dev automatically wipes the phone

Ruu help.

I going to get a replacement from Verizon and I need to revert my phone back to stock. Right now I'm s on and my boot says tampered and unlocked how can I get back to stock. Will an ruu work?
If you look for the hboots thread in the dev section, there is a modified one that will say 'locked'. You just need to download it and flash. I believe you may actually have to re s-off temporarily to flash it though. Could be wrong

Could I just not flash the ruu I have on my SD card? Or would I have to soff for that?

You can, but it wouldn't do any good as the ruu would not clear the tampered, unlocked message. This is why you need the modified hboot I mentioned. It has the message modified that has the correct message of 'locked'.
Grab the one called 'locked'

Remember, I believe you may have to be s-off, you might brick if not.

Why would he use that? It won't do what he needs to do. Seriously now, we appreciate your effort to help, but please don't add confusion to a simple task especially after I've taken the time to tell eris exactly what he needed to do..
And you do need to s-off then flash the hex edited hboot.. all you need is for that phone to stay locked and be on a stock Rom and your good. Verizon doesn't usually check as long as you went thru the trouble shooting process with them over the phone and theyll send you a new one in the mail and you'll ship the old one back. They can't technically send you a phone and then charge you for the old one (if it is ***tampered***) cuz they wouldn't have done the proper trouble shooting before sending you a new phone. For all they know you got your phone that way.

heres the latest ruu.. itll give you stock EVERYTHING http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/ lock your bootloader, relock your bootlader, run the ruu, twice, i think after it still says relocked (havent done it myself in a while) if so s-off from there, then flash the hex edited hboot..

Bootloader to show "Locked"

Dudes,
Too many dead pixels dying on my phone and ATT is sending me another replacement device through warranty. I RUU'd and brought everything back to normal from the CID, hboot, radio, and back to s-on but I cannot get my bootloader to show "Locked". It just shows relocked. Im certain I cannot send it back to them saying relocked. Ive searched and maybe im not searching good enough. Care to share some commands?
"fastboot oem lock" only relocks it.
I restored the phone to 3.17 firmware and RUU but before I update it to the 4.3 id like it to show locked. Any help is appreciated.
Edit: Nevermind I found my answer. Read that this was not possible.

If you're s-off it is totally possible there's a command for it built right in to revone.

to my knowledge any htc device no longer show "locked" after you unlocked it the first time..it will always show relocked when locked again..

Something went wrong and now I have a message in hboot that says "security warning" and tampared over the words "locked". I doesnt boot to the rom again just goes to recovery im guessing with the phone and the red triangle. lol Pain in the butt.
To be honest I have no clue how to fix that lol I haven't tried to lock it yet

Run a ruu that will fix it tampered will be gone too

So right now it's unlocked with tampered above an s-off. Is it wise to lock bootloader first before I run ruu? Which order should I go? I know s-on is last for sure...

For anyone that's searching for this exact issue ill share what i did to get my phone completely back to stock. I did search the forum but the info was all over the place and in my opinion it was as clear as "I" needed it to be hence me creating a thread for something so simple. Ok as follows here is what I did step by step.
First I had to make sure I installed HTC sync of course. At the moment my firmware was 3.57 and I downloaded the 3.17 RUU.exe from HTC.com
Your firmware *HBOOT* and the RUU you download have to match or you will get errors. Well, least I did.
Make sure you download some type of toolkit it would make life a lot easier. I used this one it worked like a charm!
At the moment, my phone is bootloader unlocked and s-off fyi.
Next, Use the tool to "lock" your bootloader first not "re-lock" just "lock". If you're having issues push revone again and follow commands on toolbox.
Now, check hboot to see if it shows "locked" if it has tampered above locked that's ok the RUU will take care of that.
Run, the RUU, make sure usb debugging on and htc sync already installed. Let it run.
After its done, start up phone again, turn off fastboot under "power" and turn usb debugging on again.
Start up toolkit, look to the right and it will say "s-on" device. You can only s-on after you've ran the RUU and are on stock hboot and rom.
Check Hboot again and it should read "Locked" and now "s-on".
Phone now ready to send back for warranty or etc.
Hope this helps anyone that searches. I found a few thread via google and they helped out a bunch.

How to Unroot and go back to complete stock?

I know I can unroot through supersu but I want to return to complete stock because I am needing to return it to the Sprint store. Any ideas anyone?
You don't necessarily need to go fully back to bone stock.. I mean the proper way to do it would be to flash a RUU or an update.zip the 0P3IMG.zip through bootloader if available and must be on an SD Card... Or there is a mod that can change your "Unlocked" flag to "Locked" even though it's unlocked and you can also change your security flag from S-OFF to S-ON with still being S-OFF'ed and then unroot with SuperSU... That would be the option to do if you don't have a RUU or 0P3IMG to flash... Or if any other Sprint users here can upload all the partitions for you in a ".img" format and you can fastboot them all back individually... Hope this info helps!

Ok cool. The main thing I want to get rid of is the red lettering talking about development build purposes when I first boot up the phone. I seen the thread about removing it but I seen that was only for Verizon?

well yeah, it seems to be that the Dev is busy, you could PM him a request. If you want to do that yourself, you could find tutorials on the HTC One forum.

Going back to stock

Hey guys,
I feel like this is a pretty dumb question to ask, but maybe someone can help me. I have to return my phone back to Verizon for a speaker issue on the phone. Anyway, mine says relocked at the very top, I have flashed it back to factory using RUU and I have changed my CID back to factory. Now I haven't gone to S-On yet, and I am following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41801200&postcount=2
As I stated it still says ***Relocked*** at the top and I didn't start following this till after I had flashed the RUU, What do I need to do to get it to back to locked? Any ideas as to the direction to move in? Do I need to unlock and root it again, then just follow that guide to get it back to stock?
Thanks

Follow the guide for whichever method you used to achieve soff.
Needed to lock first... Since still s-off, flash recovery, flash lock zip, ruu again, then s-on
