Can't login with active 2-step verification - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

No luck with searching.
I just got a Vodafone 858 (Huawei U8160) and tried to connect it to my Google account. Didn't work because every time I entered my password and hit the login button it'd just empty the password field. After a while I tried disabling the 2-step verification and suddenly everything worked.
Now I reactivated the 2-step verification and both my S III and U8160 report a login problem and require me to login again (which I assume is normal). The problem is that this puts me right where I started.
Happened with the Stock ROM and this ROM. Didn't try any other.
No clue why it fails.

Did you know you can create an app-specific password to bypass Google's 2-steps login for applications that don't support this authentication method?
To do so:
- Go to https://accounts.google.com;
- Go to Security;
- Click "Edit" next to Authorizing applications and sites;
- Follow the instructions in the section Application-specific passwords to generate an app-specific password. 2-steps authentication won't be needed for this specific application.

That worked. Thanks.
I knew about that password but I didn't really consider that an application.

[Q] Unable to set up G mail /Sign In

Hi, i Bought a new HTC Rader yesterday.
I am unable to set up the gmail account.
it says "Attention Required" and it details my account information are not correct.
< I check my id and password
< the password is not the same number of letters i typed.
< i correct them and save
< and see the same error again
I also tried to set up by others( POP/ IMAP)
but same thing.
Similar type of problem is also discussed in a google forum unable to find any answer.
Help?
Do you have 2-step verification setup in you Gmail account? If you do you have to follow the instructions on how to create a temporary password to allow WP7 access to the account.
I'm a bit late here, but when I have "Battery Save" mode, my student google apps account doesn't sync and asks me for a password. If you have that enabled, try to sync without it.
This could be the 2-step verification as mentioned above, or the issue that's been addressed in the latest Windows Phone update, check here:

[Q] Security threat: still able to access google account after revoking password

I'm using Android 4.0.4, IceColdSandwich ROM, set up Google 2-step auth. I have generated an application-specific password and used it to set up account on the android phone.
First, I haven't found any ways to log off from the account. The only way offered is to completely remove account-related data including messages and so on.
Second, and most important, I revoked the application-specific password using web interface, and the phone still able to access my account mail and sync all the account belongings. I rebooted phone, clear data of different google applications with no luck - phone still had an access the account.
So I'm wondering why Google allows such unsecure scheme to live, and if there is a chance to revoke the access to google account in case of loosing the phone.
I have had the same problem after doing a full wipe update I revoked the old password then generated a new one so I could login. But after finding problems with the rom I restored my Nandroid backup and it never asked for a new password, it just worked which is a big security flaw.
My only guess it since I gave it the same name (ex Android Phone) maybe same names generate the same password. And has no randomness
I should do a test by generating a new password then revoking it and generating with the same name to see if they match since I have never checked if they are the same due to not knowing the old one past one time type in.
Edit they are not the same but I think I noticed what you have to revoke. At the top of the page you should see these I assume if you revoke them they don't come back until a proper password is re-entered.

[Q] MS Exchange Email Password Bypass?

My work just got a new server and it is now requiring us to set a password on our phones. It's an Exchange server and from what I've read, it is a setting in the server that is requiring this (apparently it has to have administrator control over your phone).
Is there a known work around for the password protection?
Having to put a password each time you want to use your PRIVATE (company doesn't provide us with a phone) SUCKS
Thanks!
FYI, I have an un-rooted Samsung Note 2
Find a ROM for your Note 2 that includes an Exchange PIN bypass.
Root your phone.
Install the ROM.

Well I was trying not to root my phone. Seems silly to go through all that trouble for just a pin.
Ended up downloading Mailwise. It's freeware that you can download on google play. If you go to their website, and check out the FAQ's, there is a step by step process on how to bypass the security password requirement. WORKS LIKE A CHARM :good::good::good:

no solution yet. I guess I will have to contact LG.
i have the same problem, do you find a solution?
Has anyone had this problem solved? I even reset my Google account password and it's not working!
In solution foun yet ?!
I have the same issue
I'm not a tech guru, but I had this problem: I have an old phone with photos that I'm not longer using with data, but I had some locked photos in there and I could not access them when I tried to put in my current gmail password or that pin I remember while using wifi, since it's not using data. Even though I would go on my pc and type in my password/email and log in..it just wasn't registering for this phone.
What worked: 1. Wifi connection---installed all software updates
2. I turned off 2 step verification from my email through my PC
3. I then also turned ON the Allow less secure apps feature
4. After this I was successfully able to sign on to my email account from the email app on my phone.
Then I tried again to put in my current password and email from the locked pictures--- and it signed me on...and allowed me to change my password/pattern/pin and I could then access the pictures.
I hope this helps someone bc this took me over 12 hours to figure out.

[solved] I can't login anymore on my phone!

I had my phone on airplane mode, I changed temporarily my password from my pc, I put again my true password, I re-enabled wifi on the phone, which warned me of recent changes on the account, I used my password + 2FA: there's still the warning and Android isn't connected!
Then I used Chrome from phone to login into my account and it worked, infact I can see in "recently used device" the phone being in use, but Android is still not connected!
More info:
I'm on Android 4.4.4 (pls no bully), Playservice 11.9.51 (0.38-177350961);
initially I changed the password to safely use Android-x86.org (specifically: "CM-x86 14.1" version), on which I used my account disabling any backup setting AFAIK; quitting that I re-enabled my "true" password, but at first it didn't let me use it because it was recently used, so as suggested elsewhere I changed it 100(!) times (google remembers the last 100 psw used and it won't let you use them anymore);
since then I restarted the phone, and one whole night has passed, but still no luck;
then I changed the password to a never used one and now here I am (I can login on Chrome from my phone, and also on my pc);
the texts I'm receiving (translated in English for you) are: "action for account required" from notification; once tapped it, a system window says to login again, but after I put the password I get a new system window titled "access didn't worked" and (in English this time) "to access your account, you must sign in on the web. Touch next to start browser sign-in", then an SMS is sent for 2FA, I check "don't ask it again", but on use I get again the previous system window ("use brower sign-in"); I've already tried it many times.
1.Try to Reset your phone to Factory Setings (This will wipe all your data so make backup)
2. Then wipe cache partition and reboot normaly your phone and try.

I solved it!
I disabled 2FA and, as suggested elsewhere, I used https://g.co/allowaccess (what it even does?). I don't know if both were necessary, but here I am!
