Post your Battery Stats here - HTC One X+

While posting: mention your average usage of that cycle, e.g. How many hours Wifi was on, how much time games/other activities were done in general.
Also mention any custom kernel and ROM you were on (when they will be made):
Happy posting.

I've not used the phone too much today. Emails, some Internet and a little gaming. Data has been on a bit as well. I've used the phone sparingly today, but I'm still very happy with these stats.
63% battery left after15h awake time.

Test report of gmsarena: http://blog.gsmarena.com/battery-tests-of-htc-one-x-are-complete-here-are-the-results/
They state 44 hours for HOX+ and 50 hours for S3 and say that some issues may be corrected with an firmware update - so very good for HOX+ :good:

expensive templetp
Very happy with battery life
achieved 1 day 14 hours and still had 20% left
I was a lot in facebook with wlan on, used whatsapp a lot, checked emails, surfed, played an hour, downloaded some apps, changed some settings, made some photos and organized the apps
all in all it is good.
btw i used energy saver mode.
If you use all 4 cores and are a heavy gamer you mustn´t wonder if your battery doesnt survive one day

So, u mean that not using battery saver enabled runs 4 cores at the same time? Then, battery enabled use the extra core only?

Using for messaging mainly with WiFi constantly on. Battery loaded during night for the First time since I got it yesterday.

Mine drains battery kinda fast over night while in flight mode (up to 10 % in 7 hours, last device used only 1 % in the same time)... Is this the same on yours?
gsmarena stated similar, they say it drains too much even if it's not used... what could it be? Maybe the weather on the lockscreen even if it's in flight mode and not updating?
thanks!

I have productivity lockscreen, no flight mode active during night, but i do feel the drain.
Let's hope the next OTA will resolve this.

Someone with root run the BetterBatteryStats app ?

The tegra chip has a 5th power saving core ( companion core) which is utilized on the battery saver mode. The 4 primary cores are turned off.

But it is used no matter battery save on or off when it does not need more power... but in battery save the Quadcore is limited to 1.3 GHz instead of full power with 1.7 GHz (but it uses all 4 cores when necessary)...

Ok now later that day with quite heavy usage at the end and all features turned on (no nfc). Playing some games. Look at the pics.

Do you know what your screen time was like for that usage? I'm considering this phone and the original HOX, and I'd be happy with that if it was 3-4 hours of heavy usage with WiFi on all day, but I'm sort of wary. I'm worried that the 300mAh extra won't make up for the transition from S4 Pro to Tegra 3.

Is it true that you can't see the 'onscreen time' anymore on the One X+ / Android JellyBean?
(yeah with a third party app like above, but not with the standard software that's on the phone?) WTF?

Yep it is true, the main reason i think is this, you dont NEED to know how much bat your screen is using as every time you look at your phone and turn the screen on, it will be using some bat and all, TBH i like NOT having it there now as it shows a lot more of what IS using your bat

Better battery life for Android system?

I've seen a lot of users' postings of battery statistics (screen shots) and they are all considerably better than what I am getting. The biggest difference I see is in the amount of battery drain from "Android System." What I see posted is between 9% and 13%. However, my batt stats show the Android System draining 60% of the battery.
So, what am I doing wrong? I'm still kind of new to Android. Is it the widgets? I've checked running processes verses what apps are draining battery life and nothing is running that drains like the system does.
Further info: I am currently running the 7.18.12 build of Diet ICS, but I was seeing this behavior on stock as well. Some widgets I use: Astrid premium tasks widget, Evernote, doubletwist, slacker, 3D clock/weather, a widgetsoid switcher, and APW Calendar.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

How often do your widgets that gather info refresh? Try scaling down on some widgets and see if that helps. If not, try to flash stock with odin and start over. I was having some problems with my phone when I first got it (MTP specifically) and I falshed stock and everything started working fine. Also, if you are using Google Chrome, make sure you have the experimental feature of using the gyroscope for tilt scrolling set to off....it is known to drain battery.
Hope this helps :good:

Maybe I will try flashing stock if I have time today. I reset my battery stats in recovery mode when I took the phone off the charger this morning, so we'll see how today goes.
I looked into the widgets and the only one that refreshes data on a schedule is the clock/weather. I'll try a different one or just not use the weather.
Great tip about Chrome. Didn't know it did that.
Do I actually need to calibrate the battery? I tried the method of letting it die and charge back up a few times and I've tried recharging once it gets down between 70-80 percents life. I'm not sure which method helped, but I did notice an improvement.
Thanks again for the help.

Not sure how to know how long the screen was on. Is there a way to know that? If I had to guess I'd say 4 hours. I use the Smart Stay option as well. I wonder if wiping the stats will give me more valid data.

I have my display off auto-brightness and on a low setting, I probably utilize the task manager 50x a day and clear the ram as well, cpu sleeper is always activated, gps/sync/auto-rotate/wifi/bluetooth is always off unless I need them, and I have power saving mode on most of the time.
With all these settings off and I am a heavy texter/caller/browser/emailer, my battery lasts from 7AM-1AM and I am at 30-40% at the end of the day!

Never mind! Just searched" CPU sleeper" on the Play store and--voila!
On another note, I'm so glad I got a device with a huge support community. Coming from iOS, it's nice to feel part of a collective effort again and get such great advice. I know there are a lot of iOS forums and there is some great work done through those communities, but those seem so trivial compared to what is done through XDA and the level of helpfulness is unparalleled here.

I read somewhere in the forum that these batteries actually like to be constantly charged up and not let die completely. There was no explanation for this but I will research it because I am curious. With my old Captivate, i let it die then fully charge to extend the overall life of the battery.
How is your battery so far?

I've applied all the tricks folks have shared here and have flashed the Diet ICS rom. I am going to take screen shots of my usage data on a daily basis and see how things fair. I'll post my results here. Here is one from last night before really getting into all the tricks and the new rom. So, maybe this is my "before" shot in this documentary of a noob's journey to better battery life.

Have you tried using the CPU Sleeper app?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745516
I found that it does a great job of preserving battery life when the phone is in standby. I used to notice my battery draining really fast over short periods on standby (phone would be hot to the touch). After installing this, I have not encountered that problem again. I get 16-20 hours of use on moderate usage. LTE, gps, and sync are always enabled. I DO NOT have the phone in power saving mode and I seldom use wifi. I used to get 10-12 hours of battery life on the same usage before. I am running the rooted version of the stock rom from my carrier.
CPU sleeper app works great for me. I am in a non LTE area but get incredible battery life, last all day usually with around 50% left. An order of magnitude better than my SGS2

Hi all,
I also notice this and this were the steps that I did and seems to help me to reduce this process to like 5 %. I'm on Sprint S3 but should be the same for the all carriers.
Go ahead and open Talk application. You should see your account in green (I'm not using this application) then hit the menu and then select sigh Off. Make sure that your account changes to Offline (sometimes it is change back it self so open one more time make sure that it says Offline). Then what else I change is in wi-fi advanced options: under Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep I choose Only when plugged in option. then I reboot the phone and from now on (almost 2 days) my Android system process show up only 5% of usage and my battery life improve significantly. I hope this will helps.
Thanks
Those are great tips. Thanks. I will say I've gotten increasingly better life since employing other tips discussed here.
Something else I did was download a profile changing app. I got Quick Profiles, but anything should do. If anyone uses anything better, please share. I have a profile for power saving that turns down my brightness, and turns off wifi and Bluetooth. The app will let you put shortcuts on the home screen to instantly change the profile. I'd like to find one, however, that will also turn off gps and mobile data.

I get always too much battery drain during night

i like to keep my gs3 connected to wifi and muted while i'm sleeping but when i wake up i always get 8-10% battery drain (in 8 hours app), i come from a motorola atrix which in the same conditions i get no more than 2% drain over night.
i've tried many roms (omega, foxhound, ultimarom...), many kernels (stock, galaxsih, siyah, phenomenal medium and extreme...), and also some basebands (modem, radio) but i keep sticking with the XXLH1 'cause i get less drain with this one. but in any combination i always get 8-10% battery drain during night.
i've seen some of you say that you get 2-4% drain in the same context so i would like to know what am i doing wrong :/

How is it sleeping overnight? check settings > battery and check how much it's awake when the screen is off, then check better battery stats to see what is waking it up, I would probably say you have too much synced.
you're right, i have too much synced, 3 google accounts, plus facebook, twitter, whatsapp, skype and others but those are the same settings i had on my old motorola atrix and even there i got 1-2% drain, although i was on gingerbread.
i will install some battery stats application to see in details whats draining it so much, 'cause under settings it only says that idle and standby time are the draining reasons.
gonna try the leaked 4.1.2 to see if i get better results, thanks!.

Better battery stats is the best, but that is a lot to sync, I would imagine it's not sleeping well because whenever an app decides to sync it will wake the phone up, and let's not forget the S3 has a 1.4GHz quad core CPU, if it wakes and uses all cores it will drain the battery faster than a single or dual core CPU. I notice the Atrix has a 1GHz dual core, so you should expect a lot more drain especially with that much synced, honestly you shouldn't need Skype syncing unless you always want your skype contacts to be up to date in the contacts app, and Twitter just syncs to pull the latest tweets through, you can just do that manually every time you open the app.

does that mean that jelly bean is making you experience worse battery life?.
maybe it's because the atrix has 2 cores but if the gs3 uses all 4 cores to fetch or sync some data, that would mean it's not very well optimized for simple tasks, thanks anyway i'll try better battery stats

Android doesn't fully support multi-core CPUs yet, which is the main problem, all you can try if you need all the apps syncing is download a custom kernel and change the CPU governor this will change how the system uses the CPU and it can help.
Well for starters, Google Now should be disabled if you are concerned about battery life. Also check for and disable latitude and location reported from maps (they are getting activated by google now) Even if data/sync/gps are off google now constantly polling for updates thus draining battery.
With my HD2 running GB/Froyo for over 2 years, and methodical testing to achieve the lowest battery drain in standby (testing for 8hrs at night) the best I could do in AP mode was .35% per hour which is less than 3% over 8hrs.
I have owned and tested my S3 for 4 months and usually get 1% per hr and in AP mode....I get similar to the HD2 above at .35% per hour but I haven't tested to crazily.
I find it hard to believe and would love to be convinced, that any S3 owner can get less than 3% per hour drain without going into AP mode. Please prove me wrong and state your methods for all to learn.
Finally, I do not find the battery drain to be Linear. I am guessing that a battery charged to 100% sometimes may actually be a bit stronger than 100%. So doing a random single test may result in low drain numbers but that may be misleading. That same test performed at 20% level, may yield worse results if in fact my theory that the battery does not drain linearly...is true. But for consistency, I always perform the test at 100% battery and let it sit in the charger for an extra 2hrs before unplugging it. This way, at least the test is more consistent and more directly comparable.
I now have Green Power app installed and it is able to automatically turn off wifi/data in standby under conditions set by me, the user. I am performing some nightly drain tests. I would be thrilled if I could get between .35-.75% per hour. My first 2 nightly tests failed thanks to Slacker Radio....which held a Wakelock even though I bloody killed it!
I think this could be due to fast dormacy
http://www.androidnz.net/2012/06/at-your-own-risk-how-to-disable-fast.html?m=1 there is an app to disable this.
Read this link first though

A bit off topic but just reminds me of my old Nokia N95 because whenever I was in a network dead spot or just have no signal for whatever reason (Gif fgaff) the battery would completely run dry within maybe 6 hours, and you'd think because it has no signal it should last longer than the few days standby I normally got.
And I've never had a SIM in any of my Android phones that lost service for long so has anyone seen this happen on an Android or is it just a Symbian thing?

When a phone has no signal it has to scan all frequencies for a signal, this constant switching of frequencies drains a lot of battery, it also increases the power to the mobile networks chip to try to pick up even a weak signal, which also drains the battery faster, it happens on all phones.

Will give it a try but I have never seen it show up in BBS in the past hence never tried it (I was aware of it) and as far as I am aware O2 (UK) does support Fast Dormancy.
It is not that I an dubious about the 3% drop over 11 hours I just want to get to the same level!
EDIT: To get the 3% drop do you disable everything you mention above? I use Tasker to disable everything including sync, wifi etc...except the cell. But I do not disable play store notifications seperately.

I have messed with this before without positive results. But anyway, since it seems like you have it working...what is your typical % drain over 8hrs?

This is what I have come to expect. 1% per hour is reasonable and typical. 3% over 11hrs...hmmm...I don't believe it.

I usually turn mine off overnight but if I do want it left on I turn my location settings off and everything that requires wifi and don't lose much.
I'd suggest trying better battery stats from play store then after leaving your phone off overnight dump your results (in settings) and then go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809 to ask about your results

battery usage and performance

I was hoping to get a good idea on how the HTC One manages battery life. Day one and so far I've talked for an hour, sent multiple text messages and browse the web for around an hour. I'm still running with about 85 percent battery life which seems awesome. I've noticed there's some options for saving on push to email along with energy saver which is built into the phone. Would some other users report feedback from on their battery life performance??

Can you report do you have power save on from the power options or energy saver.
I know energy saver turns your data off after you idle for more than 15 minutes and the power saver option I have on ( only the display and the cpu settings are on) help. The cpu one throttles your cores to 1.1ghz and the display one lower maximum brightness down.

Mine arrived with around 68% yesterday and I used the hell out of it. I went to sleep with it at 19% (11:30pm) and woke up to 11% (8:30am) so I killed it down to 4% and plugged it in around 10am. It finished charging about 45 minutes ago and it's dropped down to 93% in the time off the charger with virtually no screen on time. I hope it just takes a few cycles and that the sudden drop is only part of conditioning.

do notice he had the sleep mode on. which says it turns off data during long periods of idle. i'd have to see how this works with push mail and the such since if data is off how does it push mail?
i have the power saver option on currently though

As long as the screen is off/phone is idle, it doesn't. It will deliver once the device has been woken up.

Although I haven't used it for a long time, JuiceDefender may give you options to turn data on every so often just to grab whatever is new.
i think its ok. with the power saver on it should keep my battery level high enough. hell i havent even tried a full charge usage yet so we'll see how this goes.
thanks for the info though

I use it on my Amaze, and you are correct. I turn my screen on every hour for 5 minutes. The Amaze is ICS, but hopefully my One will work the same.
With heavy use throughout the day, I had 20% over the 10.5 hour work day without any battery saving options aside from smart email delivery. I've also noticed that automatic brightness isn't the best. (figures since I've had auto brightness issues with all if my phones)
In going to use power saver all day (working hours)tomorrow and post results.

Does auto brightness keep your screen unusually bright at all times too? I've pretty much disabled it unless I'm leaving anywhere outside.

It is a lot brighter than it needs to be for sure.

The funny thing is that HTC is getting a lot of praise for their implementation of auto brightness on this phone. Personally, I feel like it's drastically overdoing it.

So far, Auto Brightness is fine and very responsive for me. No complaints. Battery life seems fine so far also.
Auto brightness and turned power saver on at 15 percent. Took some pictures, gamed, watched YouTube, listened to music, and browsed the Web. I basically just used my phone as I normally would while doing nothing special to save the battery.

guys just buy a battery case!
I'm calling it a day. (This ends my first 24hrs and first battery cycle.) I had to reboot earlier after my number ported over but it's been off the charger for almost 12hrs and under heavy use.

my usage (6 hours of me asleep, LOTS of spotify, some video), i love this batt coming over from nexus s.
Battery so far seems GREAT
This is a screenshot of my new HTC ONE. It wasn't charged to 100% more like 86% and with moderate usage. As of this post I am currently at 39% battery. I don't have power save on. I have automatic brightness own, auto sleep. Been on wifi the whole time all features are turned on(sync,gps,etc..). I love it so far no hardware issues perfect!!

Want better battery life, try this app

Was reading online what I should do about my battery life and how to improve it. I usually get about 12 hours with 2 hours of screen time. This app has improved my batteries life too 14 hours with 3.5 screen time. Not much but better here check it out

There are quite a few good ones out there. I like juice defender and greenify. I don't really use them now though. The htc one battery does a good job without slowing down the phone.
I never use battery apps ever, but coming to a phone that gets about an hour and a half less screen time, I tried this out for about a week and a half. It did nothing..... I mean literally nothing. Averaged the exact same everything. The only thing that changed was I had an icon in the notification bar. Its not even worth the wait while it's learning..... Apparently to do nothing.
I think this apps actual purpose is to advertise for their processors.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
No, I would just wait. Your can remove the icon from the bar. You should look before you an post (not trying to start a war) give it some time. I have gained a few hours, or maybe my phone is just working better.
The point is to save battery life with losing fluidity

BatteryGuru does work a little bit. I used it on my atrix. However what this guy just said.
Turn on power saver and only check underclock CPU and lower screen brightness (HTC one screen is too bright) and you're golden. Haven't noticed a difference in performance from the lower cpu speeds at all. Quad core ftw I guess.

Its funny how people always use screen time as a way to judge battey life. Theres more to it than that. Gaming, streaming and watching movies will definitely drain the battery quicker. Im not a power user and was very skeptical about the battery on the HTC One when I purchased it. So far, my battery lasted me throughout the day most days. Its true however that HTC is known to have smaller batteries.

Yeah. This is a small battery, I tried guru on the one and it didn't seem to make any change at all, if you out everything into super power save mode it works but then nothing ever updates. Kinda ruined my experience.
Underclocking cpu and lowering screen brightness through power saver is by far the easiest and best way for saving b life without ruining user experience (IMHO)
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I didn't think id like it but I turned power saver on with justlower screen brightness and lower cpu power and I have to say this thing still flies.... No lag at all and even the lowered screen brightness is still to bright imo so I leave it on all the time helps a lot. It takes the battery and phone about a week to break in and learn percentages anyway so don't be discouraged about batt life on the first couple days. Plus we use new devices more which makes a difference. I had a couple other things not perfect at first on my phone like agps not working but after a few charges and reboots it's working great better than my one s with any rom I've ever used.

I did look.... I don't give a crap if you can turn it off. This app has been around for a while.... I tried one my OneX just for a haha when it came onto the market..... It did nothing on that phone either. If you are gaining power from this app.... Its because the app is doing what I have been doing manually since using Android phones. These battery apps are built for lazy people who refuse to remember to turn crap off they ain't using.

Screen on time is one of the best ways to judge battery life. If you can get an hour of talk time, texting like mad and get 4 1/2 hours of screen time....video, reading, etc...... That's a bad ass battery.
Phone that's been on for 35 hours with 1 hour of screen time is quite simply a phone that is not used much.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I don't think you understood what I meant. I meant to say comparing screen times on a device that played intensive gaming vs the screen time on a device that was used to browse the web and text. Both screens are on but the one playing game is likely to chew up battery faster due to the cpu running more aggressive. So basically all these screen times that people post aren't really helping unless they're accurately stating what was it used for. Wifi vs 4G LTE plays a factor also. All in all, it's likely everyone uses their phones for different things so battery life will be judge differently.
Sent from the Sexiest Android Device (HTC One)
I actually used this app when I had the Nexus, and I HATE battery saver apps like Bullsh.. I mean Juice Defender. The fact that Qualcomm is putting it out for their own chips tells me it's worth a shot.

I understand where your coming from, and you're not wrong. My only point is that phones that can sustain, what I would consider excessive screen on, would naturally stand up better to whatever you throw at it.
Having said that, my OneX would get 5 and a half hours screen on with texting, reading, XDA app all day, YouTube, etc. Sure I could easily kill the battery playing crazy graphics games in 2 and a half hours..... Most phones that are only averaging 3-4 hours of screen time are not going to be able to get 2 1/2 hours of play time doing anything else. My OneX battery kills this One. I wouldn't necessarily say I am a power user.... But I have been known to put a beating on mine pretty regularly.

qualcomm battery guru for snapdragon

I installed the Xiam/Qualcomm Snapdragon Battery Guru app recently:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xiam.snapdragon.app
it seems to work well on my XZU.
I'm not convinced it's making a huge difference to battery life, but it seems to be an improvement in the three days its been active.
more info on it here:
https://www.xiam.com/faqs-snapdragon-battery-guru
is anyone else using it?
I'm using it for two days now. It says battery saving should start in 1 Day 15 hours.
So wait and see .
My question is do i have to disable Stamina mode ???

Tried it in the past, didn't noticed any difference. The thing with smartphones in general is when you're standby and don't touch the device you get good battery life. At the moment you touch the device your battery is going to be sucked dry.
Huge screen to illuminate, processors toggling up (we do want immediate response), apps are updated. And the phone is then only active. When you start using the smartphone then it goes really fast, games, movies, internet, thetering and so on.
When i'm "using" the phone at home i often put it on the charger. Sometimes i receive the message, "phone using more energy then receiving".
When you want battery life, use nokia 3310. Excellent for calling and opening beers. When you want your entire pc in a pocket, deal with the limitations of the battery.
Id have to agree, I used it on my nexus 4 and there was no difference in battery life

Guys, I have never tried Battery Guru, but I use 2x Battery and I have to say that it works great. It not only enables/disabled network access automatically, but it also has a screen filter. It it's the closest thing to Juice Defender, which was quite popular a while ago.

That's exactly what I use, I find that it works only about 50% of the time and does what stamina mode is meant to do

LNIK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2506043
didn't do anything that we could see.
Perhaps on a device that doesn't have 'stamina' mode it would be better.
Hello everyone,
I just want to share my experience with this app.
I have the Ultra for months now, i'm a heavy user, i tried a few customs roms and i'm now on stock 290. I've never been able to get more than 4h30 of screen time but usually around 4 hours, stamina mode ON, and tried a few third party app. Couldn't notice any improvements. I'm also using Greenify.
Note: Whatsapp, dropbox, google + are always allowed to run in background because i need them
So i downloaded Snapdragon batteryguru 4 days ago and it said i have to wait 4 days so that it learns my phone behaviors . I have to admit i was quite sceptical
I got a notification yesterday telling me batteryGuru is ready to start extending my battery life.
And guess what i got 2 extra hours of screen time !
Stamina mode is still enabled, low power mode disabled , wifi ON, LTE ON ( yep makes no sense if i'm on wifi but i' m too lazy to deactivate it lol ), bluetooth and GPS ON when i need it , brightness at 100 % most of the time except at night .
BatteryGuru low power mode disabled too.
I have no idea what it does to improve my battery, i know some of you can reach 7 hours without any app or stamina mode, but it all depends on how you use your smartphone and for my usage, 4 hours seems normal.
So i got 6h 14m of screen time now and of course i'm happy
Average users may not see any improvement but i recommend heavy users to give it a try :good:
