[Q] Root possibility for One X+ - HTC One X+

I'm new to Android and have been following the difficulties getting the current AT&T One X rooted. If AT&T locks the X+ the same way, will the current X research carry over to the X+, or might the phone models be different enough to start over and maybe find an exploit that didn't work on the X, but does on the X+?
Thanks.

No, the research will not carry over. You are talking 2 totally different chip sets. New research towards an exploit will have to be made. My guess is that AT&T will ask for it to be locked down as tight as the original HOX. You couldn't use the same unlock procedure for the international HOX either. Since they were able to get official HTCDev unlock practically from release. If there is an exploit, it will be found.

[Q] Difference between HTCDEV unlocks and the "old" root methods

I've had the htc evo og, 3d, and now (today) i'm getting the 4g LTE. I wondered in the past when i've rooted those phones i've used all sorts of different methods. However i've never used the HTC way to unlock/root the phone. I saw today where there is a 1 click root but it uses the HTCDev method. What is the diffence between the two? I am SLIGHTLY considering the S3 (both phones look nice) but will the HTCDev root keep me from being able to return the phone? Just wondered if anyone could give me any insight on this.
Ignore - Read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692400 and this answered most of my questions. Sorry for taking up thread space

It is possible to root and load a custom rom without the unlock code ?, once i load the new custom rom the phone will be carrier unlocked ?
Carrier lock has nothing to do with roms.
based on your operator

I do not know in which country you are now but in the U.S. for a few days is illegal without ahutorizacion unlock operator. If you're not in the U.S. you can use cellunlock.net, I use last month from Argentina and in three hours they sent me the unlock code.
The wording on the new law is strange. It has been interpreted that the phone can still be unlocked if purchased prior to the law going into effect.
Some time ago about a year or two you are able to call up at&t and tell them that you would like to use the phone in Mexico and they would be able to give you an unlock code. I don't know if that is still okay but I would phone them up and tell them that you would like to use the phone in Mexico. I don't know if that method still works.

1. No, since its now illegal to unlock phones here in the U.S without carrier permission there won't be free unlocks anymore I assume
2. Buy it and find out

lock code is available, but I am wondering if att can tell I ulocked when I get back from my trip to mexico?
suppose any ramifications now that there is this new 'law'?
can they tell? do they care as long as I pay my bill/keep my contract?
Can they tell and will they report you seem to be the questions on everyone's mind right now. My guess is that if they tried to, then yes, they could probably tell. Chances are high, however, that unless there will be some direct ramifications for them, then they won't care. But of course no one knows for sure at this point.

Dev Edition!

I ordered a HCT One Dev Edition and was wondering about where to go to flash roms and for support. I'm with at&t, but since the phone is the Dev Edition I was wondering if I need to stick here or I should go to the forum without a specific carrier?
For now the none carrier specific forum. The devices are almost identical in hardware. So until the at&t branded is rooted that's were i would suggest getting roms because there wont be any here to speak of.
If I'm wrong please correct me but I'm pretty sure this is correct.

There is no "proper" forum since all of the devices are basically identical in hardware. In the AT&T "Development" forums you'll probably find ROMs based off of the AT&T firmware, complete with options for the carrier bloatware to be installed. To avoid that all together I would personally stick with the international (non-branded) forums. Eventually when the "Original Development" forums pick up then there won't be much of a difference. Until the developer edition ships to the U.S. customers, or until the bootloader is unlocked on the AT&T devices, I don't think we will see many ROMs being developed. By that time it will become a bit easier to navigate as the forums begin to blossom.
There is talk of combining the One boards into a single forum, which would really help to clarify the confusion I really hope they do that.

[Q] S4 or HTC One: update policy/support

Hi all,
in 2 weeks I can choose a new phone and I am doubting between the S4 and HTC One. I have played with both phones and currently my preference is the HTC One and that would be my first HTC.
However I often read the update policy/support is not that good, would this a reason for you not to buy the One? Personally I don't want to root phones so I am dependent on these updates. Can HTC afford not to give proper support looking at their current position as company?
Interested in your opinion, thanks.
The HTC One will be supported. I wouldn't let that concern keep you from choosing the One.
Now, if Google announces a Nexus 5 at I/O....

The entire company (htc) is riding on this phone. They have already released the source. You can unlock this phone through htcdev. There is already an update and they have submitted it to carriers (it's not 4.2.2 but it shows us commitment).

There's already been 2 updates, and 4.2.2 is supposed to come out next month.

[Q] Telus HTC One X+ Unlock issue

Hi Everyone,
I have a HTC One X+, That for some reason wont unlock...as far a i can tell its locked to Telus ( via CID Telus001)
I've bought 4 codes online for this device, 2 others sent me emails saying "we could not find a unlock code for your device's IMEI" The ones that did send one are the same (i got a tip from Telus that on their system the IMEI of my One X+ shows as a One X) on this whim i bought a code for a Telus One X too (and oddly enough the One X code was the same as the others) I also tried an AT&T code, but yet none of them work, the phone is stock not rooted.
So i called HTC and asked them to check in there system what the Phone is listed under, they Told me that It is "Branded to Telus" and "It Is a HTC One X+"
The guy i bought it from told me he was using it on Telus, when i called they found no trace of the IMEI in the system
And about 5 30 min Phone conversations later im still Nowhere....
Any and All help is greatly appreciated
